Local Broadway Tickets
Whether you are a first time visitor to New York City, an experienced regular, or a long time resident, one of the first things you probably think of when asked the question “What should I do in New York?” is BROADWAY. Broadway is woven into the fabric of what makes New York so… well, so New York! Seeing a show on Broadway is an unforgettable experience. The theaters themselves are architectural and cultural icons. New York City’s theater district is crammed into a small space between 53rd to 42nd streets and from 6th to 8th avenues. There are approximately 36 theaters tucked into this small space and practically all of them are running world famous shows every single night. Spending the night watching a Broadway show will make even the most anti theater fanatic into a lifelong lover of Broadway.

If you are planning on going to a Broadway show, there are several things you should consider. Most importantly, where are you going to get your tickets? Here at Applause-Tickets, we believe that our local Broadway ticket experts are the best in the business. We have been living, breathing, and working Broadway for over 20 years. We are intimately familiar with every single theater in the Theater District and a whole ton of Off-Broadway theaters as well. Because of our experience and expertise, we can help you find the BEST seats to the BEST shows for the BEST price. If you are unsure of which show to see, call us up and speak to one of our representatives. They are all certified theater geeks and can help you figure out which show would be best for you and your group.

Another reason to consider using Applause-Tickets as your local Broadway tickets vendor is our commitment to service. Sure, you can go on one of the major ticket sales websites and find tickets to almost any show in the city. Unfortunately, almost all of these online ticket vendors are out of town companies who do one thing and one thing only: sell tickets. What happens when you get to the theater and your tickets aren’t there? What happens when you realize that the amazing deal you thought you were getting was actually a sham? At Applause, we provide amazing service every step of the way from your first inquiry phone call to the night of the show. If there is ever any problem with show times, tickets, or your theater, we are here standing by to help you. We can even recommend a great restaurant or hotel near the theater you are going to.

When it comes to Broadway – think local! Call one of our representatives at 1-800-451-9930 today.

Final Weeks For Tony Winner South Pacific

Now don't tell me you still haven't see the Tony Award winning revival of South Pacific yet. Well you better hurry up because the show is set to close on August 22, 2010. When it closes the show will have played a total of 37 previews and 1000 performances. Not too bad for a show that first premiered on Broadway over 50 years ago. I saw the show when it first opened back in March 2008 and thought it was amazing. Having done the show in high school I knew what to expect. What I didn't expect was that the show would feel as fresh and powerful as it did.

It was like I was seeing it for the first time all over again. How many Broadway revivals can say that?It was recently announced that original star and three-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara will be reprising the role of Nellie Forbush on August 10 in time for it's scheduled live performance to be broadcast on PBS.Good seats are still available for the rest of the run so don't delay. Revivals like these don't come around everyday so call now. Get your tickets to see South Pacific on Broadway. It is Broadway at it's absolute finest.

Now Is The Best Time To Get Tickets To See Tony Winner Billy Elliot on Broadway

Still haven't seen Billy Elliot yet? Well there is no better time than the present my friends. The show which won ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical is one of Broadway's most popular shows. Now I personally have never seen the show. Working at Applause we often get invited to all the new shows prior to opening night. That way when people call and want to know what we think we can give them our honest opinion. Having never seen it you would think that I would not recommend it to most people. Quite the opposite.

Just because I don't want to see it doesn't mean other people won't want too. My tastes just happen to be a little different than most. The thing is no matter what I think of the show you can't deny it's popularity. It doesn't gross over a million dollars a week for nothing after all. Now for those of you who want tickets to see this award winning musical than you have come to the right place. A new block of seats just went on sale thru January 2011. Get your tickets to see Billy Elliot The Musical on Broadway. It may not be my favorite show but it might just be yours. Call now.

2009 Fringe Festival Hit Tales From The Tunnel Opens Off-Broadway Next Month

It's funny but in all the years that I have lived in New York I have never seen a show at the Fringe Festival. Not that they haven't sounded interesting I just never had a reason until recently when a dear friend of mine was cast in one of their shows. The show is called Tales From The Tunnel and it is one of the most fulfilling nights in the theatre that I have had in a long time. Not only does it have a great cast of characters that will keep you entertained from start to finish but the show is only 90 minutes. Who says great plays have to be 2 hours or more? The show which is co-written and co-directed by Troy Diana and James Valletti begins previews at the 45 Bleeker Street Theatre on July 10 with an official opening July 25 at 7pm. Performances are Saturdays at 4pm and Sundays at 7pm.

Run Don't Walk To The Nederlander Theatre To See Million Dollar Quartet

Last night I had the opportunity to see a new Broadway show called Million Dollar Quartet. For those of you that are not familiar with the show it is based on the famous 1956 jam session between Jerry Lee Lewis,Carl Perkins,Elvis Presley, and Johnny Cash. Now going into the show last night I obviously knew a lot of the songs and had heard good things about the show from co-workers and people in the industry. What I didn't expect was to love the show as much as I did. What an amazing night in the theatre.

Every performance was top notch and the musical arrangements were excellent. Now while I enjoyed the performances from the four leads the standout was Levi Kreis as Jerry Lee Lewis. No surprise there as he recently won the Drama Desk and Tony Award for his portrayal. All in all if you are looking for a fun night in the theatre than I highly suggest you check out Million Dollar Quartet on your next trip. Good seats are available for every performance so call now. Get your tickets to see Million Dollar Quartet on Broadway. I promise you it will be a night that you will never forget.

Buying Tickets Online Or Over The Phone

Look we all know that buying things online is the best way to shop right? No lines. No weird people bumping into you while you shop. I mean who needs that? Now when buying tickets to a Broadway show you really only have three choices. Over the phone, online, or a the box office. Now unless you live in New York or are here for a visit the Box Office is not an option. That's what I do. Well what do you do if you live 3000 miles away and can't do that?

Every week I get calls from hundreds of people who are looking to purchase tickets to see a Broadway show. Some have already shopped around and called us because not only do we have some of the lowest prices around but we can actually tell people where that will be sitting before they purchase. How many other brokers can say that?

Also besides are online service we have people answering the phones every day from 9am-Midnight. Know any other company that can say that? Look I know we are not the only ticket agent in the country. Heck were not the only one in New York City. What we are is a company that takes pride in providing the best customer service to everyone. So whether you are calling us for the first time or you are a long time customer just remember that Applause is here to help with anything that you need. That's what we do.

That's right theatre fans. It's Monday and you know what that means right? It's time to take a look at last weeks grosses. Good Times. Once again no big surprises as the same shows lead the pack. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from White Plains, NY. It was early in the day when I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York for her and her two sisters and wanted to see a show while they were here. I asked her what she wanted to see and she said that she had watched the Tony Awards the week before and and really wanted to see if she could get inexpensive tickets to see Memphis while she was here. I told her not only would I be able to get her decent seats but at a price range that would be well within her budget. I asked her when she would be here and she said she was planning on coming the last week in July. I was able to get her very nice seats in the Balcony for the date she wanted and at a price that was lower than she had anticipated. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Broadway As I See It

Having lived in New York City for over eighteen years I can honestly say that I have seen and done it all. Well not everything. I still haven't seen the Statue of Liberty. At least not up close anyway. Now like most people I came to the big city to pursue a career in the theatre. I know. Just like everybody else right? Anyway in all the years that I have been here I have seen hundreds of shows both On and Off-Broadway. Some good. Some bad. Although every once in a while I love me a good old fashioned Broadway flop. Believe it or not but some of the best songs in the last twenty or thirty years have come from shows that flopped. Here are just a few shows with short runs on the Great White Way that featured some memorable songs.

Baby
Passing Strange
Side Show
The Goodbye Girl
A Class Act
Carrie
Merrily We Roll Along
Mack and Mabel
The Life
The Baker's Wife
9 to 5
Urban Cowboy
Parade
Shrek
and of course soon to be biggest flop in Broadway history.......drum roll please...........

SPIDER-MAN:TURN OFF THE DARK

O.K. I know it hasn't officially opened yet but according to Broadway insiders the show would have to run at 100% capacity for 5 years straight to make it's money back. Look stranger things have happened but I just don't see it. Maybe I'm wrong. Previews are set to begin this fall at the Hilton Theatre.

What will be Broadway's next big hit? Well since I don't own a crystal ball I really couldn't tell you. Let the games begin. Until next time theatre fans.

Final Weeks For Fences Starring Denzel Washington

Still haven't seen Fences yet? Well you better hurry up because you have less then three weeks to do so. The show which began previews on April 17 at the Cort Theatre won this years Tony Award for Best Play Revival along with Tony's for Best Actor and Best Actress for it's two stars Denzel Washington and Viola Davis. Now for those of you who read my blogs know that not only is Denzel my favorite actor but he is a true gentleman in every sense of the word.

I remember when I went to see him in a production of Julius Cesar five years ago and after the show there must of been at least 300 or 400 people outside waiting for his autograph.
You know what? He stayed until he signed every last one. Told you he was a gentleman. The show which is scheduled to play it's final performance on July 11 is currently sold out of all regular seats.

That means if you want to see the show then you will have to a little more than usual.Right now all seats are staring at around $275 and higher. Now as much as I want to see Denzel I don't have the kind of cash. But hey if you do then more power to you. Get your tickets to see Fences on Broadway. Time is running out.

Now while the show was a big winner at the Tony Awards that doesn't mean you can't get great seats to see the show. In fact if you call right now we can get you amazing seats at prices that are below face value. Sounds to good to be true now doesn't it? Well it's not my friends. Why Buy From Applause

To tell you the truth I don't have the foggiest idea why anyone would buy from our company. Wait a minute. Yes I do. Low prices and great customer service. Isn't that why you buy from any place? I know I do. Yes I know there are hundreds of ticket brokers out there doing the same thing that everybody else does. But let's face it without competition where would we be? Without Coke there would be no Pepsi. Without McDonald's there wouldn't be a Burger King. Now the reason for today's blog is not about tooting our own horn and saying,"Applause is the best.Applause is the best". Let other companies do that. The truth is that when shopping for tickets or anything else for that matter it is important to shop around. Do your homework before forking over your hard earned money. In this day and age it just makes sense.

Being a huge fan of the movie I was very excited when it was announced that the show would be returning to Broadway for the first time in almost 30 years. Now while I was not completely blown away by this new production overall it was a good night in the theater with a lot of standout performances including Tony nominee Josefina Scaglione (Maria) and Tony Award winner Karen Olivo (Anita).

For those of you who have never seen a live production of the show you are sure to enjoy it.

Broadway Grosses

Well the good news is that it's been a week now since the Tony Awards and not one show from last season has posted a closing notice. The bad news is that the shows that were struggling before the awards are still doing so. A Little Night Music, which played it's final performance before it return on July 13 with new stars Elaine Stritch and Bernadette Peters posted some of it's highest numbers in recent weeks. Now while the new leading ladies do have a large fan base I don't expect the show to see high numbers like that again. Then again I have been wrong before. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Winner Sutton Foster To Headline Revival Of Anything Goes

That's right theatre fans. It was just announced that one of Broadway's most beloved stars is heading back to Broadway next year. Tony Award winner Sutton Foster is set to star in Cole Porter's Anything Goes in February 2011. The show which is part of the Roundabout Theatre Company's 2010-2011 season is being directed and choreographed by two-time Tony Award winner Kathleen Marshall. The show which was last seen on Broadway in 1987 at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre won the Tony Award for Best Revival and starred Tony winner Patti Lupone and Broadway's longest running Phantom Howard McGillin. No further casting has been announced at this time. Now while the Roundabout has had it's share of hits with the revivals of Cabaret, Nine, and The Pajama Game their last production of Bye Bye Birdie was a critical flop and closed after a run of four months. Let's hope they have better luck with this one.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes from the "City of Brotherly Love". I am of course talking about Philadelphia, PA. Having lived on the east coast for almost twenty years you would think that I would have visited Philly at least once right? Nope. Not that it's not a great city. It's just that I rarely leave New York unless I'm heading to Illinois to hang with my family. It was late in the day on Thursday when I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a last minute trip to come to New York for the weekend and wanted to see a show while she was here. I asked her if she had a show in mind and she said that a friend of hers had just been there two weeks ago and saw The Addams Family and loved it.

Now considering the show was two days away I knew that it might be difficult. Luckily I had some very nice seats in the Mid Mezzanine that were right in the center. Not only that but at at price lower than she had seen anywhere else. Now for those of you who hear the words "Mid Mezzanine" and think that there is no way you would ever be caught sitting up there then I have one thing to say to you. "Get over yourselves people." Most people forget that the theatres on Broadway are not very big. In fact the biggest theatre is the Gershwin (Wicked) which holds a little over 1800 seats. See I told you it wasn't very big didn't I? Anyway she took the seats and I was able to help her with a few restaurants to check out while she and her family were here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Mary Poppins Summer Sale

Still haven't seen Mary Poppins? Well there is no better time than the present. The show which first premiered in London's West End in 2005 continues to delight audiences of all ages eight times a week at the New Amsterdam Theatre on Broadway. Now not being the biggest Disney fan I walked into the theatre with a little trepidation. Change that. A lot of trepidation. Although looking back on it now I realize now there was no need to worry. Growing up the movie was a personal favorite of mine. In fact I would imagine I saw it over fifty or sixty times as a child. I guess you could say I liked it. Now while nothing can ever compare to the movie the show does one heck of a job.

All in all I would say it hits a home run and if you are looking for the perfect show for the whole family that there is no better one to see than Mary Poppins. By the way for those of you who want to see the show but don't want to have to mortgage the house to do it then do I have great news for you. From now thru you September 5, 2010 you can see this beloved musical at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not valid for Tuesday Eve.Wednesday and Sunday Matinee at is based on availability. Get your tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Jacksonville, Oregon. Now in the short time that I have worked at Applause I have sold thousands of tickets to people from all around the world. Yet the state that seems to have the fewest customers is Oregon. Look I'm not saying that people from Oregon don't go to Broadway shows it's just that they just don't seem to order a lot of tickets from us. Maybe they are getting them from one of our competitors. Hmm? Now I know you didn't come here for a sales report so why don't I just get to the reason for today's blog.

Late last week I received a call from a very nice lady who was looking to bring her granddaughter to New York City this fall and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. I asked her what she wanted to see and she picked two of Broadway's most popular shows. Give up? Why Wicked and Jersey Boys of course. I asked when she would be here and was able to find her great seats well within her price range. Not only that but I was able to suggest where to stay and a few restaurants that she might want to check out while they were here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

The Day After The Tony Awards

Well and less you've been living under a rock you know that this past Sunday was the Tony Awards. Now believe it or not but I did not watch the show. Oh sure I watched a few of the highlights the next day on CBS.com but as far as sitting down on my couch and staring at my television set for three hours that was not going to happen. In fact this was the first time in twenty-four years that I did not watch the show. Boy do I sound old.

The main reason is that for the first time there was not one show that I really liked or liked enough that I needed to see again in a three minute highlight of the show. Now of course the show I enjoyed the most the season was The Addams Family and that was not nominated. Yes I enjoyed American Idiot but watching a bunch of stuffy Broadway people trying to headbang to Green Day music was not my idea of a good time.

As I'm sure you know by now Memphis took the award for Best Musical and of course the next day we received a fury of calls from people looking for tickets to the show. Now while the show received critical acclaim and won several awards it is not a big seller nor do I expect sales to go thru the roof because of a little new found fame. In fact every call that I received regarding the show were from people who wanted to see the show at a discounted rate. Now what does that say about the Tony Awards or the future of the Broadway musical for that matter?I'm done.

Broadway Revival Of Hair To Close

This is truly a sad day theatre fans. Hair, one of last season's most loved and honored shows, will play it's final performance at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre on June27.Those of you who read my blogs know that the current Broadway production of Hair was one of the biggest surprises that I have ever experienced in the theatre. Walking in I never expected to love it as much as I did or be as moved as I was. Now going into see the show I knew the story and a few of the songs but that was about it. Never in a million years did I expect that Hair would become one of my favorite shows but it did.

It's funny but everytime I suggest the show to people on the phone their response is usually, "Oh I saw it years ago" or "I saw a production of it at my local theater back home." To that I say, "Big freakin' deal!" Trust me when I say that you have never seen a production of Hair like this one. I don't care who you are. It is an amazing show and it certainly deserves a longer run than 15 months. Either way there is no denying it's power and the fact that it has had on a generations for over forty years. That will never change. That is why Hair will never die.

New Broadway Play Next Fall Reaches Milestone

One of this season's best reviewed shows as well as a Tony nominee for Best Play of the year is Next Fall. The show which began Off-Broadway in the Spring of 2009 transferred to Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre this past Spring. Tonight will mark it's 100th performance on the Great White Way. Not too bad for a show with no stars. Now while the show is up for several awards it has been struggling as of late at the box office with sales barely reaching $125,000 a week.

Most shows with those kind of figures would have closed weeks ago but most shows don't have Sir Elton John as it's producer. That is why the show will probably run for awhile despite it's low ticket sales. The good news is that because tickets are so easy to come but you can get them for prices that are lower than any other time. Just call Applause and ask for the tickets to Next Fall at a special "Insider Price" and we will take care of the rest. It's as simple as that. Get your tickets to see Next Fall on Broadway. Annie To Return To The Great White Way In 2012

No hell has not frozen over folks. It was just announced that everyone's favorite redhead is set to take Broadway by storm once again in 2012. Annie which is set to open in the fall of 2012 in time in honor of it's 35th Anniversary will be revised according to the New York Times. Producing the show is Red producer Arielle Tepper Madover. Here is a statement from the producer. "My grandmother took me to see Annie over the Thanksgiving holiday when I was eight. It was my first Broadway show. From that moment, I knew that I wanted to work in the theatre. The past 30 years have prepared me to produce this show on Broadway and I cannot wait to share it with a new generation of Broadway audiences and with my own children."

The last time Annie was on Broadway was in 1997 starring the late Nell Carter. It was not a success and closed within a few months while the original production ran for almost six years for a total of 2/377 performances. Now while I don't expect this new production to run that long I do think it will do well if they can get the right team together. That means a new director. Yes I'm talking to you Martin Charnin. Oh and please no more stunt casting. That last thing we need is Kathie Me Gifford playing Miss Hannigan again. Let the speculation begin. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Revival Of A Little Night Music To Remain Open

Well I guess the rumors were true. A Little Night Music which was scheduled to close on Sunday June 20 has gotten a new lease on life thanks in part to two new leading ladies in the form of Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch. Following the final performance the show will temporarily close down to allow the new cast ample rehearsal time. It will then reopen on Tuesday night July 13.

Now while the show was a strong seller before I expect sales to go thru the roof now that two of Broadway's most beloved stars are now headlining the show. Ms. Peters was last seen on Broadway in the 2003 revival of Gyspy where she received a Tony Award nomination for Best Actress in a Musical while Ms.Stritch won her first Tony Award in 2002 for her work in Elaine Stritch: At Liberty. No word on how long the two will be in the show but I strongly advise you get your tickets as soon as you can. Call now.

New Block Of Seats For Come Fly Away Now On Sale

I have to tell you for a show that got mediocre reviews and very few Tony nods Come Fly Away has defied the critics and is steadily become one of this season's biggest success stories. As of today tickets are now on sale thru February 11, 2011 with no end in sight. Now as I mentioned even the show did not get the best reviews from the critics it is still doing very well at the box office with most weeks selling over $800,000 in tickets.

I guess the critics don't know everything now do they?Anyway as I mentioned a new block of tickets just went on sale and good seats are available for all performances. By the way the Marquis Theatre which houses Come Fly Away is not a big theatre so whether your in the first ten rows or the last few rows upstairs all seats are a full view. How many theatres can say that? Get your tickets to see Come Fly Away on Broadway. Dancing on Broadway will never be the same again.

Final Three Weeks For Tony Nominee Red

That's right theatre fans. You've only got 24 more chances to catch Tony nominees Alfred Molina and Eddie Redmayne in Red. The show which first premiered in London last year received 7 2010 Tony Award nominations including Best Play. Now while I did not get the chance to see the show everyone I have spoken to loved it. Having already won the Drama Desk Award for Best Play it is expected to do the same this Sunday at the 2010 Tony Awards. It's a shame that even it wins the big prize on Sunday it won't be around to bask in it's glory. Either way it is a great show and I strongly suggest checking it out before it is too late. See Harry Connick Jr. On Broadway This July

What? You didn't know that Emmy and Grammy Award winner Harry Connick Jr. was coming back to Broadway? Tickets have only been on sale for the last month or so people. Now for those of you who didn't hear Mr. Connick is playing a limited run at the Neil Simon Theatre beginning on July 15 and running thru July 26. That means you only have a 11 chances to see this two-time Tony nominee strut his stuff on the Great White Way. Although knowing him he will probably spend most of his time behind the piano. Now as of right now it is a limited run but I wouldn't be surprised if the shows extends if sales go well. Besides the theatre doesn't have another show booked until Love Never Dies until the Spring. Broadway Revival Of Fences To Recoup Investment

O.K. let's be completely honest. Is anybody really surprised by this news? Let's face facts shall we. Not only is the new Broadway revival of Fences one of this season's biggest hits but it is sure to go down as one of the most successful play revivals of all times. Now while the play itself is very good we all know that the real reason everyone in their mother has been buying tickets to see it is because of one thing and one thing only. That my friends is because of it's star and Tony Award nominee Mr. Denzel Washington. According to published reports the show is scheduled to recoup it's entire investment of $2.8 million dollars by the end of this week.

That means that the remaining five weeks of it's run should make a nice profit for it's group of investors. Not too bad for a show that is only playing for 13 weeks and at a theatre that seats less than 1100 people. The show which will play it's final performance on Sunday July 11 also received 10 Tony nominations including one for Best Play Revival of the year. Being a huge Denzel Washington fan I can't tell you how upset I am that I am not going to get the chance to see him play this iconic role. Now while all seats are sold out there are Premium seats available for most performances. Get your tickets to see Fences on Broadway. It is a winner.

Broadway Grosses

Well it's that time again theatre fans? Don't tell me you forgot what today is did you? It's Monday and that means it's time to give you last week's Broadway grosses. Once again no big surprises as the same same set of shows hit the one million mark last week. They were Bily Elliot,Fences,Promises,Promises,The Addams Family,The Lion King, and Wicked. Like I said. "No surprises".

Now besides those six shows there were six other shows that hit the $700,000 mark. One interesting note is that Jersey Boys which has been in the top five shows on Broadway since it opened dropped down to 88% from 98% from the week before. Look I'm not saying the show is going to close anytime soon. Things like this just happen.

Believe me Jersey Boys is going to be here for a very long time. With this week's Tony Awards there should be a dip in some of the new shows as there are a lot of Tony voters seeing the show this week before Sunday. Now usually some shows close the week after the Tony's due to the lack of awards not translating into more business. We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from San Juan,Puerto Rico.Late last Friday I received from a gentleman who was looking for tickets for the following nights performance of Billy Elliot. Since it was last minute and a Saturday night he wasn't even sure if it would be available. I told him not to worry as not only would I be able to get him seats but also at a price well within his budget. After placing him on hold for a brief moment I came back with some very good news. Because we are a New York based company we often have access to seats not available to the general public.

In fact I was able to get him "House Seats". For those of you that are not familiar those are special seats set aside by the producers of the show for cast members and other staff within the company as well as VIPS and people in the industry. Anyway I got him the first row center in the Front Mezzanine which by the way is the best view for a show like Billy Elliot and he was on his way to having a fabulous night in the theatre. So there you have it folks. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Monday Nights On Broadway

So here I am on a Monday morning in June and my first call of the day was from a customer looking for two tickets to see a show tonight on Broadway. Now for those of you that don't know most Broadway shows play Tuesday thru Sunday except for The Phantom of the Opera which has a Monday show instead of Sunday.

So anyway I gave the customer of list of shows that were playing tonight and wouldn't you know it but he picked Phantom. Plus because it was a Monday night I was able to get him great seats in the Orchestra for below face value. Now while Phantom was his choice it may not be yours. I mean there are other shows that play on Monday after all.

Guess you want to know what they other shows are don't you?Well besides Phantom there is the long running revival of Chicago,Rock of Ages,Next To Normal, and this year's Tony Award nominee for Best Musical American Idiot. Besides the shows I mentioned there are a few shows Off-Broadway that play on Mondays as well.

They are The 39 Steps, The Fantastiks, Perfect Crime and of course one of my favorite shows Avenue Q. So there you have it folks. Who says you can't have fun on a Monday night? Why not see a show? Live theatre. There's nothing like it. Until next time theatre fans.

Real Life Duo To Play Married Couple In Next To Normal On Broadway

It was just announced that Broadway couple Jason Danieley and Marin Mazzie will join the cast of Next To Normal next month where they will play a married couple who are struggling with a mental illness. The duo who are set to begin performances on July 18 are replacing Tony winner Alice Ripley who is leaving the show to head the National tour and Brian d'Arcy James who is reprising his role in Time Stands Still for it's return to Broadway this October.

I have to tell you that in all my years of going to Broadway shows Next To Normal ranks up there with one of the most emotional and original shows that I have ever seen. Now I know there are some of you out there who might be a little turned off by the show because of it's subject matter. Yes it is heavy an dramatic at times but so is life. That's what makes it so powerful. If you haven't seen it yet I highly suggest you do. It is brilliant.

Tony Award Winner Sutton Foster To Star In New Play Off-Broadway

That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most beloved stars is making her Off-Broadway debut this Summer. It was just announced today that Tony Award winner Sutton Foster will join Zach Braff (Scrubs), Bobby Cannavale (Will and Grace, Mauritius),and Ari Graynor (The Littlle Dog Laughed) in Trust. This new play by Paul Weitz is set to begin previews on July 23, 2010 at Off-Broadway's Second Stage Theatre.

Here is a synopsis of the show from a production source. "Harry is rich," according to production notes. "Harry is married. But when Harry doesn’t trust any of it is enough, he looks to find something real in the most unlikely of places." The dark comedy "explores the corrosive effect of power on relationships and the hope we need to make them better."

As of now the show is scheduled to run thru September 5th but if reviews are good I'm almost positive it will extend. For years Sutton Foster has been the go to actress when a musical needs a cute but quirky ingenue who can do at all. Hopefully this new role will give her a chance to show another side to this Broadway favorite. Tickets are set to go on sale soon and I expect them to go very fast so don't delay. Get your tickets to see the new play Trust.I don't know about you but I can't wait to see it. Maybe I'll see you there.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the Buckeye state. For those of you that don't know I am talking about Ohio. The city? Brookville. Now I know you didn't come here for a geography lesson so let's get down to the reason for today's blog. Earlier in the day I received a call from a very nice lady who was bringing her daughters to New York for the first time and wanted to see a show while they were her. I asked her what she would like to see and of course like all mothers that have young girls she chose Wicked.

Sound surprised? You shouldn't be. It is Broadway's most popular show after all.So now that she had decided on a show that next thing we had to figure out was when she wanted to see it and how much she wanted to spend. She gave me the dates that they would be here and luckily I had seats for every date. Not only that but I found her very nice seats at a price that was less then she was expecting. Plus I was able to give her several restaurant suggestions to choose from while she was here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next.
