New Musical The Addams Family Now Available At Some Incredible Savings

That's right Broadway fans. One of this year's most popular shows is now available at prices that are lower then any other time of the year. I am of course talking about The Addams Family. Like my experience with most new shows over the past few years I walked in with a lot trepidation.

Now while I was a fan of the television show as a child I wasn't sure of a musical version of the show would work. Especially after the mixed reviews it received in Chicago prior to it's Broadway bow this past Spring. Not only that but Nathan Lane tends to get on my nerves.

So there I was sitting in the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre with a few of my co-workers getting ready for the show to begin. Well after a few minutes the overture began complete with a few finger snaps and the opening melody from the t.v. theme song. After the overture was finished the curtain rose and it was time for the opening number.

Now with it being the first preview you could tell it wasn't as solid as I'm sure it could be but nonetheless it did it's purpose and introduced the family that we had known and loved for years. For the next two and a half hours I laughed my a** off. What a great show. Everyone was at the top of their game that night.

Now I know a lot of people didn't care for the score. I personally liked it and thought it was just perfect for this type of show. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show there is no better time then right now. In fact thru September 30, 2010 you can get seats to see this musical comedy at prices that are lower then any other time of the year.

Be advised that in order to take advantage of this "Special Offer" you must purchase by August 30. Also please note that this offer is not good for Saturdays or Sundays. Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. You will have the time of your life. I know I did.

Final Weeks For Broadway Revival Of Lend Me A Tenor

That's right theatre fans. You've only got nineteen more chances to see the star-studded production of Lend Me A Tenor of Broadway. Being a big fan of the play since I first read it in high school I was very excited when it was announced that the show was coming back to Broadway for the first time since the original 1989 production.

Walking into the theatre on a cold March evening I have to tell you I wasn't in a theatre going mood. I had just gotten over a hellish two weeks of being sick with a terrible cold and flu and the last thing I wanted was to sit in a crowded theatre with a bunch of strangers.

Now as I said I had always loved the play so I knew going in that even though I was still not at 100% a few laughs might just be what the doctor ordered. Turns out it was just what I needed. I can't ever remember laughing in the theater as much as I did that night. Everyone from the smallest part to the principals were at the top of their game.

It's a shame that the show is closing so soon but that is due in part to the actor's contract not ticket sales. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show yet you only have a couple of more weeks so time is running out. Get your tickets to see Lend Me A Tenor on Broadway. It will have you laughing in the aisles.

Applause Theatre Service:Who We Are

Did you know that Applause has been in business since 1987? To be honest when I submitted my application for employment over six years ago I had never heard of the company. Prior to working here I had worked at a Broadway box office and as a manger at one of our major competitors.

Well after about a week or two into my employment I soon discovered that not only was Applause one of the top ticket agents in the city but the entire country. Who knew? Now when I first started here we not only sold tickets to all events in New York, London, and Nationwide but we also sold hotel packages and dinner vouchers.

As the years passed we eventually stopped selling hotels as it was just no longer profitable and now instead of selling dinners we now offer recommendations. Being native New Yorkers we not only know the restaurants with the best food but also at the best prices as well.

A few years ago we started a new program called "Broadway Ticket Deals" or as we call it now "Below Face Value" Being in New York in the theatre district we have access to lower prices for over twenty shows that are now available to you the theatre going public.

So that's Applause. A small company started over twenty three years ago by two guys who wanted to give people another another alternative when it comes to buying tickets. Sure we may not be the biggest or the flashiest company around but I can guarantee you that nobody will take better care of you then Applause. That's what we do.

Big Savings For Billy Elliot This Summer

Still haven't seen Billy Elliot, the 2009 Tony Award winner for Best Musical? Well my friends there is no better time than the present. From now thru September 5, 2010 you can get tickets to see this award winning musical at prices that are lower than any other time of the year.

Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is subject to availability and can be pulled at anytime. Now the truth is I personally have never seen the show. Except for it's performance at last year's Tony Awards I had never heard any of the music either. The show just isn't for me.

I know that I am the minority but that's just how I feel. In fact I have yet to hear from anyone who did not love the show. Get your tickets to see Billy Elliot on Broadway. Sure it may not be my first choice but it just might be yours.

Come Fly Away To Close On September 5

Well as much as I hate to say it my prediction has come true. It was just announced that the new musical Come Fly Away will play it's final performance on Broadway on Sunday September 5, 2010. When it closes it will have played a total of 26 previews and a 187 regular performances. Despite it's premature closing the show is still expected to launch a National Tour in Chicago in May 2011.

Now while I enjoyed the show I always thought it had a limited audience. When it first opened ticket sales we good. In fact just last month they put a new block of seats on sale thru January 11. However with no Tony wins and no big advance it was doomed. Another one bites the dust. Until next time theatre fans.

Don't Forget To See A Show During Your Visit To New York City

Can you believe that Summer is almost halfway over? Time sure does fly in the big bad city. Now the truth is most people that visit New York usually see a show while they are here. We are the theatre capitol of the world after all. Now while we are known for Broadway there are other things to see and do while you are here. There is of course Off-Broadway. In the last few years Off-Broadway has been home to some of the most innovative and original shows seen in years. But what if theatre is not what you are looking for? How about tickets to the Mets or the 2009 World Series Champs the New York Yankees? At Applause we sell it all and then some. Why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did.

Broadway Grosses

Well it's that time again folks. Time to take a look at last week's grosses. Believe it or not but there were nine shows that hit the one million mark. That has to be some kind of record. Now one of those(Harry Connick Jr.) will conclude his run this Thursday. The one that surprised me was The Phantom of the Opera. I mean the show has been playing for a record breaking twenty three years and yet it is still one of Broadway's biggest sellers. This year's Tony winning Best Musical Memphis is just below the one million mark for the fourth week in a row. Still hanging on are American Idiot and Come Fly Away. Now as I have said in previous blogs I don't expect Come Fly Away to have a long run. Same thing with Million Dollar Quartet. Of course I have been wrong before so we shall see. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Calgary Alberta Canada. After looking at all of my customer stories from the past year I discovered this is the first one from outside of the United States. Not that people from Canada don't order a lot of tickets. They do. In fact most of our customers that come to us thru the New York Pass are from the Great White North.

So anyway last Friday I received a call from one of our regular customers who was looking to come into New York next month and wanted to see a few shows while she was here. Her first choice was the revival of A Little Night Music starring Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch. I told her that since the show had been playing for almost nine months now that not only would I be able to get her excellent seats but at a great price.

Well she loved that. Her next pick was Race which once again I was able to get her very good seats at below face value. Her third and final choice was Mostly Mozart featuring world renowned violinist Joshua Bell. Once again I was able to fine her very nice seats at a rate that was lower than she expected. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Let a New York Broadway Ticket Broker Help you Plan your Next Vacation– Applause-Tickets.com

Applause-Tickets will help you plan the best vacation ever! Visit Applause-Tickets.com to find out how!

Broadway in the Big Apple

Planning a trip with your family can be daunting. Especially to a place with as many attractions and as many people as New York City. A relatively small island crammed with 8.3 million people and with a ridiculously high number of things to do in such a small space is part of the City’s charm and definitely one of the reasons that so many people decide to visit us every year. Everywhere you look, there are hotels, restaurants, attractions, and people milling around. Yes, this is all very exciting and can make for a great vacation but with a lack of planning or the wrong advice, this city can become daunting and overwhelming. At Applause-Tickets, we want to help make your trip as stress-free as possible.

We are first and foremost New York Broadway ticket brokers. We see all the shows, scout out theaters and sell tickets to all of the incredible acts running on and off Broadway at any given time. Being local New Yorkers, we also regard ourselves as New York advice experts. We consider it a perk of our job to be able to help visitors to our great city in any way they need us. We can offer help and advice on anything from great family friendly hotels to the best way to get priority tickets to some of the biggest attractions in the City.

One of the greatest things to do in New York City is go see a Broadway show. Literally hundreds of thousands of people travel from all over the world every year just to see a show on Broadway. It is an experience that everyone should partake in and at Applause-Tickets, we believe that the younger you start your kids on seeing Broadway shows, the better off they’ll be. Having a love for something like theater is a gift. The sheer amount of raw talent visible on a Broadway stage on any given night is incredible and unmatched anywhere else in the world.

The shows range in size, content, style, and production value. When we see a show, we take notes on various things – Is it appropriate for children? How funny was it? Would a non-theater lover like it? Being small and local offers us advantages that many of the larger national online ticket companies don’t have. We actually see the shows so when we tell you that something is funny or great for your seven year old, we actually mean it and stand behind it. When we tell you that a certain hotel is more centrally located because you have plans to go see the Statue of Liberty one day, the Metropolitan Museum of Art another day and a Broadway show on the third, we stand behind that advice.

The next time you are planning a trip to New York City, consider using a local New York City Broadway ticket broker like Applause-Tickets.com. It might just be your best vacation ever!

Anything Goes Starring Tony Winner Sutton Foster Announces Venue

Now I'll be the first to admit that I am not all that familiar with Anything Goes. Sure I know a couple of the songs and that it takes place on a ship but that is about it. As I am sure you have heard by the now this new revival being produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company is to be headlined by Tony winner and Broadway fave Sutton Foster.

The show which is set to begin previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 10, 2001 is being directed and choreographed by two-time Tony winner Kathleen Marshall. Opening night is set for April 7. Now while I think that Ms. Foster is a very gifted performer I am a little weary about the show.

Yes I know Kathleen Marshall is an award winning director/choreographer with a lot of very good productions under her belt. Although I will say her recent production of Grease was one of the worst shows that I have ever seen. That includes the 1994 revival of the show. My main concern is with the show is it's producer. Over the last few years the Roundabout Theatre Company has been hit or miss.

Yes I loved their revival of Sunday In The Park With George but that was an import from London. They were just wise enough to bring it across the pond. Plus we all know how Bye Bye Birdie turned out. Bad reviews and truth be told a very amateurish production at best.

The 1987 revival was very well received and won several awards. Will lighting strike twice? We shall see. Regardless how it does I'm sure that the critics will shower Ms. Foster with praise and she will most likely get her usual Tony nomination for her performance. Until next time theater fans.

Now Is The Best Time To See Jersey Boys On Broadway

Still haven't see Jersey Boy's yet? Well what are you waiting for people? Not only is it still one of Broadway's most popular shows but it continues to sell out venues around the globe week in and week out. Now I'll be the first to admit that when the show first opened I wasn't that excited about seeing it. Not that I don't like the music. I mean who doesn't love Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons? I guess I was worried that a show with that much hype couldn't possibly live up to my expectations. In fact I waited until almost two years into the run before I finally broke down and went to see the show.

Turns out I was worried for nothing. The show was everything it was hyped up to be and more. As I said going in I knew the music but that was about it. I had no idea how much these four young guys from New Jersey went thru to make it to the top. What an amazing story. What an amazing show. If you haven't seen it yet I strongly suggest you do when it comes to a city near you. It is fantastic. Anyway if you need tickets to see this Tony winning musical you couldn't have picked a better time. Tickets are now on sale thru March 27,2011. Get your tickets to see Jersey Boys The Musical. Off-Broadway Theatre

Now I don't know about you but in the last few years some of the best and most innovative shows that I have seen have been Off-Broadway. Sure some of them may not have a big budget like the shows that we see on Broadway. That doesn't mean that they aren't just as good or that they shouldn't be seen. Don't forget that both In The Heights and Fela both started Off-Broadway before moving uptown.

Yes I know that doesn't happen to every show. I personally think that most of the shows on the other side of Broadway are better off staying where they are. In fact some recent Broadway shows that opened and closed following a critically acclaimed run Off-Broadway would have been better off staying put.

Look winning a Tony Award is great but if that is the only reason to try and make a run on Broadway then you are usually bound to fail. Shows become hits because of how many tickets the sell. Not how many awards they win. I like Off-Broadway.I just wish that sometimes other people felt the same way I do. Until next time theatre fans.

Save On Come Fly Away This Summer

Now I'll be the first to admit that while Come Fly Away may not be a traditional musical like West Side Story or Billy Elliot it does have it's place on Broadway. Oh sure there may not be any dialogue but that never stopped Cats or Les Miz from becoming two of Broadway's longest running shows.

Anyway for those of you looking for a terrific show with some of the best dancer's to ever hit the Broadway stage then you can't go wrong with Come Fly Away. Featuring choreography by Tony winner Twyla Tharp and music by Frank Sinatra this show is perfect for couples looking for a romantic night on the town.

By the way for those of you who want tickets to see this Tony nominated musical there is no better time than the present. From now thru October 31, 2010 good seats are now available at prices that are lower than any other time of the year.

Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is good for all performances excluding October 9 and 10 and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Come Fly Away on Broadway. It is a night that you will never forget.

Broadway Grosses

Now I don't know about you but I am getting tired of seeing the same shows in the top ten. Although I really shouldn't complain too much because if people weren't buying tickets then myself and hundreds of other people would probably be out of work. I'm just saying that is time for some new blood. Well until somebody writes a big fat hit then I guess things will stay the same. By the way that means something new and original as opposed to a musical based on a cartoon or movie. Not that there is anything wrong with some of those shows it's just that being a composer myself I have different tastes then most people. Anyway on to the grosses. Here are your top five seven. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Yeadon, Pennsylvania. Earlier in the day I received a call from a very nice gentleman who had been searching on the Internet for discounts for Broadway shows and came upon our website. For those of you that are not familiar with how we work we sell tickets for all events in New York as well as London and Nationwide. Now to be honest most of our sales as of late are from people who are looking to come to New York to see a show but don't want to have to mortgage their house to do it. Trust me in this economy anytime you can save a little money is a good thing.

So anyway he told me that he and his girlfriend were planning on coming up to New York at the end of the month and were hoping to see two shows while they were here. Their first choice was Race which opened back in November. I explained to him that while I enjoyed the show it does have a lot of profanity. Mostly the f-word. Anyway he thanked me for the warning but said the main reason for seeing the show is because he was a big fan of Dennis Haysbert who recently joined the show. I told him that not only could I get him excellent seats but at prices that were below face value. Well he loved that.

After taking care of show number one it was time to find out what he wanted to see next. He mentioned that his girlfriend had heard about Memphis from a friend of hers who had seen it a month before and loved it. Although they really wanted to see it they assumed that since it won the Tony Award that it might not even be available and if it was it would be pretty expensive. I told him that even though it won and was doing pretty well at the box office it wasn't a blockbuster like Wicked or Jersey Boys. Plus if he sits in the Balcony he will still get a very nice view but not pay as much if he sat in the Orchestra or Front Mezzanine. He thanked me for his advice and bought the seats. So there you have it folks. Two great shows. Two amazing deals. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Buying Tickets On The Internet

How many of you have ever purchased anything over the Internet? I'm guessing most of you have at one time or another. I mean who wants to spend hours in a crowded shopping mall? I know I don't. Anyway today's blog is about how to go about obtaining theatre tickets online. Having worked in the ticket business for over ten years now I can honestly say that I have seen and done it all.

From selling tickets over the phone to working in the box office at a Broadway theatre I have sold thousands of tickets to hundreds of different Broadway shows over the years. I guess I would call myself an expert. Well a theatre expert that is. Now I know that there are hundreds of companies out there that sell tickets.

There are at least twenty in the New York City area alone. Look we all know buying tickets can be difficult at times. I always try to encourage people to do their homework. Shop around and find the service that works best for them. I know I do the same when I am spending my money. It just makes sense. Until next time theatre fans.

Cast Of Broadway's American Idiot To Perform In Central Park

Don't have any plans tomorrow? Well if you find yourself near 72nd and 5th Avenue at around 6am you can see the Broadway cast of American Idiot perform songs from the Tony nominated show. It's all part of Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series. Now while I enjoyed the show I'm not sure it is going to be here for the long haul. Yes I know Green Day is of the world's most popular bands with a large fan base. Doesn't mean people will want to spend $120 to see a group of talented Broadway performers singing their music. Who knows? Maybe tomorrow's concert will give the show the boost that it needs. We shall see. By the way if you are looking for tickets to see American Idiot there is no better time than the present. From now thru the end of the Summer you can see the show for prices that are below face value. Who doesn't love a bargain? Get your tickets to see American Idiot On Broadway. You will love it.

Now Is The Best Time To Get Tickets To See A Little Night Music On Broadway

Still haven't seen the new Broadway revival of A Little Night Music yet? Well to be honest I guess it technically isn't new anymore as it opened almost eight months ago. Now while the show turned out to be a success at the box office and was nominated for Best Musical Revival it feels like a new production due to it's two new leading ladies in the form of Tony winners Bernadette Peters and Elaine Stritch.

Except for Company and the most recent revival of Sunday In The Park With George I am not a big Sondheim fan. Plus the show just looked boring to me. What do I know? Most of my favorite shows of the last few years closed after just a few months. Anyway the show is scheduled to reopen tomorrow night following a month long hiatus to allow the cast to rehearse with it's two new stars.

Tickets are on sale thru January 2011 so I assume that means that Ms. Peters and Ms. Stritch have agreed to stay in the show for awhile. We shall see. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen the show you have come to the right place. From now thru September 5, 2010 you can get tickets to see this award winning production at prices that can't be beat. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Mamaroneck, New York. About a month ago I received from a call from one of my regular customers who was looking for discount tickets to see Come Fly Away. Now while we sell all events for New York City including all Broadway and Off-Broadway shows we do have access to "Insider Deals" for over fifteen or more shows in the New York City area. Anyway I asked him when he wanted to go and he was very flexible with the dates. He just wanted the best seats at the best prices. Makes sense right? So after doing a little research I was able to find him great seats for the coming week. Not only that but a price that was lower that I had originally quoted him. After calling him with the good news he ordered four more tickets for the new Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles. Also at a discount. So there we are folks. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Get Tickets To See Tony Winner La Cage Aux Folles For Less This Summer

Still haven't seen the new Broadway revival of La Cage Aux Folles? Well have I got great news for you. The show which won three 2010 Tony Awards is now available at prices that can't be beat. This "insider deal" which is good for all performances excluding Friday and Saturday evenings thru September 5, 2010.

Having seen the 2004 production I have to admit I wasn't too excited when they announced it was coming back to Broadway. I mean the last one closed less than five years ago and lost it's entire investment. Not exactly a good sign for this new production. Well I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and boy was I wrong about this one.

Besides being a critical and audience fave it is doing very well at the box office. Now that doesn't mean you can't get seats. Don't forget about the "Special Offer" that I mentioned. Get your tickets to see La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway. The 2010 Tony Award winner for Best Revival.

Whoopi Goldberg To Join Cast Of London's Sister Act

Now before you all start snickering Whoopi is not playing Delores. Even she is smart enough to know she is not only too old but doesn't exactly have the vocal chops to pull it off. It was just announced that Miss Goldberg will join the London cast of Sister Act The Musical as Mother Superior. She is scheduled to begin performances on August 10 and run thru August 31. The show which is rumored to come to Broadway in the Spring of 2011 opened in London at the Palladium Theatre in June 2009 following productions at the Pasadena Playhouse and the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia. Now while the show received mixed reviews it has turned out to be a real crowd pleaser with sales going thru the roof. I can only imagine that sales will increase with the recent news of Miss Goldberg's addition to the cast. We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.

They were Billy Elliot, Fences, Mary Poppins, Promises,Promises,The Addams Family,The Lion King, and Wicked. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Fort Collins, Colorado. It was early in the day when I received a call from a father of five who was looking to bring his whole family to London in Mid-July and wanted tickets to see Grease. Now I personally hated the recent Broadway revival of the show. In fact if I had been sitting on the aisle I would have walked out sooner. Unfortunately I had to wait until intermission. The London version which received mostly negative reviews has been running since August of 2007. I guess Grease is still the word after all. So anyway I asked him when he wanted to go and I was able to get him seven seats together right down front. Not only that but at a price that was lower than he expected. Another satisfied customer. Travel Agents Provide Broadway Ticket Service

I've been a Broadway Show ticket broker (New York State License # 71AP1001029) for over 33 years now. And since the start of the I Love New York advertising campaign in 1977 promoting New York as a vacation destination, I can clearly tell you that New York City has worked really hard at earning the 2009 #1 visitor destination award in the United States. It has been 20 years since we last held this honor. An integral part of promoting New York as a destination has been the key involvement of travel agents from around the United States as well as throughout the world.

Allot has happened since the 1970's and New York City and the state as a whole have benefited from the travel agent community successfully selling their clients on an I Love New York vacation. Travel agents went from simply selling an airline ticket to hotel rooms and sightseeing options to further enhance the experience of a New York vacation by offering Broadway Show tickets as well.

Travel Agents have been offering their clients Broadway Show tickets for many years now, originally through their GDS sales systems then later accessing tickets through various companies on the Internet. Having been fortunate to have started my career at the beginning of the I Love New York campaign way back in the late 1970's, I can honestly say that I have seen how travel agents have become a vital and compelling force in helping New York reach its #1 visitor destination status in 2009.

Applause Theatre & Entertainment Service is a local Broadway ticket expert service. They have been helping travel agencies all over the United States and throughout the world obtain Broadway tickets for their clients since 1987 with a focus on securing the best seats, prices and service available in the travel industry. The Applause-Tickets.com web site is a great source to find out information on all the current Broadway Show productions as well as gain information on how travel agents can become a part of Applause's network of Broadway ticket sellers.

Travel agents can help make their clients New York City visit especially memorable with a visit to any one of nearly 30 Broadway Shows which include popular productions of Wicked, Jersey Boys, The Addams Family, Phantom of the Opera, Mamma Mia! and this years outstanding Tony Award winning musical called Memphis The Musical. Travel agents interested in opening an account with Applause-Tickets.com can do so easily by calling 1-800-451-9930 or 212-307-7050.

Applause-Tickets.com is pleased to offer its travel agency partners access to its below face value Broadway Show ticket deals on more than a dozen popular Broadway Shows right now. When a show has been running for a while and has performances it doesn't expect to fully "sell out" all its inventory for, the shows offer a special discount for Applause-Tickets.com and its travel agency partners. Applause-Tickets.com simply passes on the discount given to them to travel agents, then adds on a reasonable service charge for their efforts, include a commission for travel agents and mail out the Broadway Show tickets right to the travel agents offices.

Exceptional travel agents and top travel industry suppliers like Applause-Tickets.com understand the difficulties that the most recent recession has brought about. One major way that travel agents can separate themselves from many others is to simply begin to offer important "things to do" to their clients. Like taking in a Broadway Show or maybe spending an afternoon or two sightseeing in New York City. Maybe find out some great restaurant suggestions from locals like Applause-Tickets.com staff who live and work in the city and know all the great dining spots.

These ideas may seem trivial but the more time I spend selling tickets at Applause-Tickets.com and take my time speaking with consumers and travel agents on the phone, I can tell you that offering important standout service is key. These extra helpful steps along with the best advice on how to go about obtaining Broadway tickets is just one special way to serve your New York bound vacationers.

If you are a travel agent and you're thinking about offering Broadway tickets to your New York bound clients, we'd love to hear form you today. We can be reached round-the clock at 800-451-9930 or locally at 212-307-7050 seven days a week.

With no pressure to buy anything at Applause-Tickets.com, what do you have to lose?

Rich Gladstone

Get Real Advice When Buyng Broadway Show tickets

If you click on any one of hundreds of web sites that sell Broadway tickets for shows playing in New York City, you will get the distinct impression that many of the companies all look and feel mostly alike. Hardly a reason to click on a set of tickets for Wicked, Jersey Boys, Billy Elliot or maybe the brand new popular musical comedy The Addams Family and make a purchase right? Although consumers buying tickets for Broadway now have the greatest number of ticket buying options in the history of New York theater, in my opinion, there is more confusion than ever about how to get the best seats, value and service for your money. Sometimes having lots of options only makes the search for Broadway tickets more difficult. Let me explain.

For many years now, the Broadway Theater has been making a big push to increase the amount of money they make for each show that is currently playing on Broadway. This makes sense to me when you consider the millions and millions of dollars Broadway Show producers spend investing in their respective productions, never really knowing if the public will help make their show a "hit" or a "miss". That being said, for nearly 10 years now what started as a test to increase their shows bottom line, the theaters started offering "premium seating" to their shows. A premium seat is generally considered the "best seats in the house", most often in the first 10 rows center of the orchestra or the first few rows of the front mezzanine. Believe it or not, the idea of premium seats has been extremely successful on Broadway, increasing the amount of money a show can take in every performance. As I mentioned earlier, the shows producers make a huge investment, never knowing if they will lose lots of money or maybe have the occasional "hit" show. So in my mind, they deserve to come up with ways that give better seats or services to the consumer in exchange for premium prices for their tickets.

Still with a recession like most of us have not seen like this before in our lifetime, although some people do purchase premium seating, most ticket buyers are simply not in a position to fork over $300 to $450 a ticket for the privilege of sitting in the front and center of the theater. In fact, during this difficult economic time, most people that our Broadway ticket company Applause-Tickets.com gets calls from are asking us for Broadway tickets at "discount prices".

Although the Broadway Theater really never liked the idea of discounting their product (as it does cost allot of money to produce a Broadway Show today), the Broadway community realizes that discounting as well as selling regularly priced tickets and some premium tickets will be exactly what they need to do to continue to keep Broadway healthy for the long term. I've been on the ticket selling side of Broadway, running a legitimate ticket agency for 23 years now. Licensed by the NY State Dept. of Licensing, my little company has been providing a much needed service on behalf of the consumer as well as every Broadway Show. Let me explain how we might be able to help you in your quest for great Broadway tickets at the very best prices around.

I talked earlier of hundreds of different web sites all selling Broadway tickets. How do you choose the company that seems to want to help you acquire the best seats at the best price? The simple answer is have a look at the companies that offer you a phone number to call and speak with a live human being. There are almost none. Why is this so? Simply stated, most of the ticket companies are hoping you click on a set of tickets, give them your name, address and credit card information and send them an automated booking. It means very little work for them along with "no service" really being given to the ticket buyer. Makes no sense when you think about the fact that all these companies are charging you for service right? And charging you allot I might add. I think more people click on more web sites then click off and abandon their shopping cart purchases because at the end of the day, they just don't feel comfortable about the process and the lack of service. People want to know how good the view is from the set of seats they are looking at or possibly be offered a different seating option in the front or mid mezzanine level of a theater. How about the thousands and thousands of people every day that buy seats at "full price", then find at long after they have seen the show that they could have received "discount seats" and saved lots of money. With a family of 4, it adds up to allot of money.

Now obviously I'm about to suggest that the public call my company Applause-Tickets.com to consider buying Broadway tickets from us but that would sound to much like an advertisement to call Applause-Tickets.com. Instead maybe I can simply suggest you find a Broadway ticket expert that is with a local company in New York City. One that has been around for a long time. One that will pickup the telephone and speak with you discussing show descriptions, seating options and prices and delivery choices. If not Applause-Tickets.com, my advice remains to find a local New York company to talk to. The out-of-town ticket companies look like they represent Broadway but their reality is that they are experts at selling events in their cities of doing business, not New York City. Although I believe in competition, I think most of these other firms make the Broadway ticket buying process more confusing than ever. If you speak with a Los Angeles ticket broker, they probably are experts at helping you shop for great Lakers basketball seats, but Broadway? I don't think they could possibly offer great advice for Broadway.

If you ever need advice and someone to trust with your Broadway ticket purchase, I hope you'll consider finding that expert I talked about in this article. And if you consider a call to Applause-Tickets.com we'd be happy to offer you the advice you need to make the best decision possible for your money.

Enjoy the Broadway Theater. For my money, there's nothing like live Broadway.

Sincerely,
Richard Gladstone

Driving Miss Daisy To Open On Broadway This Fall With All-Star Cast

That's right theatre fans. It was recently announced that Driving Miss Daisy will open on Broadway this fall at the John Golden Theatre. Even better the show is set to star Tony winners Vanessa Redgrave and James Earl Jones. I told you it was an all-star cast didn't I? The show which first premiered Off-Broadway in 1987 will begin previews on October 7 with opening night set for October 25. Now although I have yet to see a production I did see the 1990 Academy Award winning movie with Morgan Freeman and Jessica Tandy. I have no doubt that that Mr. Jones and Mrs. Redgrave will be nothing less than amazing. Tickets are set to go on sale in the coming weeks so don't delay.

See Rock Of Ages On Broadway For Less

All I can say is that if you have not seen Rock of Ages yet then you don't know what you are missing people. It is not only only a great show but one of the best times you will ever have at a Broadway show. I know. I've seen it four times and I could see it a dozen more and never get tired of it. I guess you could say I'm a fan huh?

I first saw the show back in October 2008 when it was playing Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Now while I loved the show it never occurred to me that it might move to Broadway let alone be nominated for Best Musical of the Year. I don't think anybody saw that coming. So anyway here we are almost two years later and the show is still packing them in eight times a week at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

Now for those of you who haven't yet seen the show or are like me and are dying to see it again I have great news for you. From now thru September 5, 2010 you can get tickets to this Tony nominated musical for prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not good for Saturday evenings and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway. You will have the night of your life.
