Buying Tickets On The Web Or Over The Phone

Now I don't know about you but except for food and other last minute things I may need for my myself or my apartment I do all of my shopping online. That means all Birthday and Christmas gifts are purchased with just the little click of a mouse. Works for me. Besides who wants to spend two or there hours in a crowded store hoping to find the perfect gift for that special someone. I know I don't. Well thanks to the wonder of technology your days of shopping inside are over. The same thing applies when shopping for tickets. Any show or event you want to see can now be ordered with the drop of a hat. Oh sure I guess you could walk right up to the box office and purchase the tickets. Well what if you don't have that luxury? The truth is most people that purchase tickets for shows in New York don't live here. Therefore the only way to get tickets is by calling a company or purchasing online. Now the question is who do you call? The truth is there are hundreds of companies out there that sell tickets. We just happen to be one of them. Now I know finding the right company is not easy. I myself like to do my homework. Shop around and find the one that works best for you. It's your money after all. Happy shopping!

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Carmel, Indiana. This past Thursday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was looking to get tickets to a couple of shows while they were in New York this fall. I asked her what they wanted to see and she said her two choices were Newsies and Nice Work If You Can Get It. Now while both shows are popular as well as Tony Award winning musicals I knew I would still be able to get her client excellent seats. Well she loved that. When I was said and done I was able to get Center Front Mezzanine for both shows and at a rate that was lower than she was expecting. Plus I was also able to find her a couple of great and inexpensive restaurants to check out as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

There Is Theatre Below 42nd Street

Having been in the ticket selling business for the better part of a decade now I would have to say that most of our calls and or ticket requests are for the Broadway theatre. I mean let's be honest. When most people think of New York theatre the first thing that comes to their mind is Broadway. Makes sense right? Now don't get me wrong. I love going to see a Broadway show. After all it was the dream of performing on the Great White Way that drew me me to New York in the first place. The thing is that while Broadway brings in the most revenue they aren't the only game in town.

I am of course talking about Broadway's little brother Off-Broadway. Although when you think about it it's not so little anymore my friends. In fact some of the most innovative not to mention original plays or musicals can be found near or below forty deuce. That's 42nd Street for those of you not familiar with street lingo. In fact there are over thirty shows playing Off-Broadway at this very moment. With that many shows to choose from how ever will you decide? That's easy. All you have to do is call one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause and we can assist you with all your ticket needs. Support Off-Broadway. Who knows? You might even like it. I know I do.

A Day In The Life Of a Ticket Broker

Why do people come the big city? For most like me it's to pursue a career in the arts. That is what I had planned to do when I moved to New York over twenty ago. Now here I am all these years later still working a 9 to 5 job waiting for my big break to happen. The question is will it? You're damn right it will if I have anything to say about it. Look everybody has a dream of what they want their life to be. It's what you do to achieve that dream is what counts. Some people take the easy way out. That's fine for them. I just won't step on any one to get ahead. Maybe if I did I would be further in my career than I am now. Or maybe I wouldn't. At least I can go to sleep at night with a clear conscious. Now I know what you are thinking. What does this have to do with theater tickets. At this moment there are hundreds of ticket companies out there who sell tickets. Now for the most part the companies that sell these tickets are on the up and up. Sure anybody can design a website and start selling tickets. Not everybody is legitimate but that's the case in any type of business. Do we always have the best prices? For the most part yes, but there will always be somebody else out there trying to be number one. Look we may not be the biggest company in town but we do our best to give each and every customer the attention that they deserve. That's what we do here at Applause after all. I guess I'll be sleeping with a clear conscious tonight again too.

Now Is The Best Time To See A Show

Support Broadway! I know you probably hear that all the time. Well you know what? You should support Broadway. With out support from the theatre going public then Broadway would cease to exist. Now listen Broadway is not going anywhere. At least not in the near future. But let's be honest. The cost to mount a Broadway production is getting more expensive which means that the cost of the ticket is going up as well. But don't fret. It doesn't have to cost you an arm and a leg to see a show. Applause Theatre Service has access to some great insider deals to over twenty Broadway shows. So whether it's your first Broadway show or your 100th now is the best time to come to New York to see a show. Broadway. There is nothing like it.

Save This Summer On Broadway's Longest Running Show The Phantom Of The Opera

Who would have thought that when The Phantom of the Opera opened back in 1987 I would still be blogging about it all these years later. Now I'll admit that growing up in Illinois I wasn't exposed to a whole lot of theatre except for the shows that I was in during high school and at our local community theatre. Luckily for me I discovered a little show called The Phantom of The Opera. Well that and Les Miserables which to be honest I didn't really enjoy when I saw it many years later. I guess I had hyped it up so much in my head that when I finally saw it I was disappointed. It happens. I even avoided Jersey Boys for years because I was sure that it would never be as good as everyone said it was. I was wrong. Great show. If you haven't seen it I suggest you do. Plus you don't have to be a fan of their music to enjoy it. Although that certainly helps. Wait a minute. I was supposed to be telling you about Phantom. Sorry about that. Anyway for those of you who still haven't seen the show I have some great news for you. From now thru the end of August you can now get tickets to this beloved musical for prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while the deal is good thru August 31 it is not good for Saturday evening performances and subject to availability. Get your tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway. You will love it.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Tucson, Arizona. In case you didn't notice there have been an unusual amount of show closings recently. Yes I know shows close all the time. However when popular shows like Sister Act and Memphis can't survive than something is wrong. Just my opinion. Anyway last week I had to call one of our customers to let him know that one of the shows that he purchased was closing a week early. I guess that's better than six month's. After being extremely disappointed that he would not be able to see the show I asked him if he would like to see something else. He asked if I had any any suggestions and I told him, "Why not switch one Gershwin show for another." For those of you that are confused there are currently two shows on Broadway featuring the music of George and Ira Gershwin. Porgy and Bess which will conclude it's Tony Award winning run on September 23 and Nice Work If You Can Get It which is playing eight times a week at the Imperial Theatre. Well he loved that. Plus I was able to get him the same type of seats and at no extra cost. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

What To See In New York City

I don't know about you but I can't believe that we are already halfway thru 2012. It seems like only yesterday that I was coming back from visiting my folks in Illinois where it was snowing to right now where we are in the middle of a heat wave. Where or where has the time gone? Now believe it or not but it's been over two months since I have seen a show. The last one I saw was The Leap of Faith which I know I may be in the minority but I enjoyed it. Unfortunately it didn't last very long. Prior to that I saw Ghost which I enjoyed and the revival of Jesus Christ Superstar which closed this past weekend. What is with all these show closings all of a sudden? Yes I know shows close all the time but when popular shows like Memphis and Sister Act can't stay open something is wrong. Oh well. I guess that just makes room for more shows down the pike. Now the big question  is what will you see during your visit to the Big Apple. The good news is right now there are over sixty shows both On and Off-Broadway that you can see. Not only that but most of those shows are available at prices that are below cost. That is what is so great about the theatre. So many choices. Which one will you choose? Me. I don’t know yet. But no matter what I can always count on the theatre to give me a night that I will never forget.

Applause Theatre Service and The Book of Mormon

Let me guess. You've never heard of The Book of Mormon right? I guess that's true if you've been living under a rock for the past couple of years. Who are you fooling? People that don't even go to the theatre have heard of it. I guess it might have something do do with all of those Tony Awards it won last year. Or maybe the fact that is was written by the guys from South Park and Avenue Q. That must be it. Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show there is hope. Tickets are available. Yes I know you've probably heard that it is a sold out show and good seats are not available until a year from now. Not true. Oh sure you may have to pay a little more to get tickets for next week or even on the same day but it is possible my friends. You just have to know where to look. Wait a minute. Applause sells The Book of Mormon. Not only that but at prices that are usually lower than anywhere else. Why not give us a call? You'll be glad you did. Until next time theatre fans.

Applause Theatre Service: Your One Stop Shop For All Your Ticket Needs

Looking for tickets to some of the hottest events in and around New York City? Well my friends you have come to the right place. To be honest when I first started at Applause eight years ago I thought that we were primarily a ticket agent for Broadway shows.Oh sure most of our business comes from people wanting tickets to see hits like The Book of Mormon and Once or such long running shows like The Phantom of the Opera or the The Lion King. That will never change.

But let's say you want tickets to something other than a big Broadway musical? I myself have always wanted to see Bon Jovi in concert but could never find tickets at a reasonable price. Now I myself don't need to be in the first ten rows to enjoy the show but I know there are people out there who do.Not only do we have access to all types of seats but at prices that are usually lower then you will find anywhere else.

The other day we got a call from a travel agent who had a client that was desperate to get her hands on tickets to see Barbara Streisand in October at the soon to be open Barclays Center in Brooklyn. We asked where she wanted to sit and after a little bit of research we were able to find her seats for the date she wanted and at a price that was a lot less then she anticipated. See? I told you we sell other things besides theatre tickets. Why not give one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause a call and see what they can do for you. You'll be glad you did.

Applause and Travel Agents

Since I first started at Applause over eight years ago the one thing that has remained constant is our relationship with the travel industry. In fact lately it seems like every other call we get are from travel agents looking for tickets for their clients as well as themselves. Just a quick note for all you travel agents out there. When you purchase tickets for yourself you automatically get a discount. Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I sure do. In fact most of the show we sell we can get for less than it would be if you walked right up to the theatre yourself. Now that's what you call a deal. Not only do we sell tickets for all events in New York, London, and Nationwide but we also now offer transportation to and from the airport. Need help finding someplace to eat during your stay in the Big Apple? We do that too.  Also don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did.

Disney On Broadway

Hard to believe but it's been over eighteen years since Disney first invaded the Great White Way. Now here we are in 2012 and The Lion King and Mary Poppins continue to be two of Broadway's most popular shows. Not to satisfied with two long running shows Disney's latest creation is Newsies. Based on the 1992 movie of the same name the show which won two 2012 Tony Awards is one of Broadway's biggest hits. Not bad for a show that was never supposed to come to Broadway in the first place.  Now for those of you who read my blogs know I'm not the biggest Disney fan in the world. That doesn't mean they don't have a place on Broadway. If it wasn't for them most children would never get the chance to experience a Broadway show. For that they should be commended. Since 1994 Disney has produced seven shows on the Great White Way. Some like Beauty and the Beast and Aida were very successful. Others like Tarzan and The Little Mermaid were not. Either way Disney is here to stay folks. Live theatre. There is nothing like it.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Nevada. No it's not Las Vegas. It's Incline Village. Don't feel bad. I've never heard of it either. Although I did find out it is near Lake Tahoe. O.K. enough of the geography lesson. You didn' t come here for that.Last week I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York in November and wanted to see a few shows while she was here.

I take that back. She wanted to see six shows. I don't know about you but I can barely handle seeing one show in one week. Six in one week? I would go crazy. But that's just me. Anyway after finding out when she was going to be here I asked what she wanted to see. Her choices were Newsies, Once, Nice Work If You Can Get It, Evita,Rock of Ages, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Now that is some lineup.

Now since she was planning way in advance I had no doubt I would not only be able to get her excellent seats but by waiting a little but I might be able to get a few of them for below cost. Well she loved that. Since Newsies and Once were a little more popular than some of the other ones we went and took care of those right away. I was able to get Center Front Mezzanine seats for both shows. Same for Evita and Nice Work.

Now for those of you who think that Orchestra is the only place to sit you have no idea what you are missing my friends. For most theatres Mezzanine has the better view. Trust me I know from experience. Four shows down. Two to go. Since Rock of Ages has been playing for a number of years I suggested she wait as I am sure I would be able to get her great seats but for much less then our normal retail rate.

Same with Radio City. Plus since she was going a couple weeks before Thanksgiving I had no doubt I would still be able to get her great seats and at a great price. So there you have it folks. Six shows in six days. I'm getting tired just thinking about it. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?
