Fish in the Dark is a (Fantastic) Broadway Sitcom

Larry David is a master of style — not necessarily the style you may be thinking of; but comedic style. If you’re familiar with Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, then you’ll know exactly what I’m talking about. He’s not about throwing epic punchlines at you or relying on funny insults in the bulk of his work; but rather crafting a joke on a subject that doesn’t really seem out of the ordinary, something that’s not so significant, something people may come across every day. And his real punchline is his overreaction to those insignificant situations. Larry David is a master of situational comedy.

In his latest example, Fish in the Dark, Larry David gives us this wonderful plot with twists and turns and subtleties and absurdities while keeping to his style. Fish in the Dark is about Norman Drexel who, after the death of his father, must rearrange his personal life in order to honor his father’s somewhat unclear last wishes and move his mother into his own home. However, Norman’s life becomes undone when his father’s secrets are revealed and squabbling between his wife and mother ensues. Cue situational hilarity.

Fish in the Dark is a very well-crafted comedy. Written by Mr. David himself, it’s a story that’s written for every character. It gives every performer the attention for a bit so they can get an amusing quip in. But Mr. David himself really turns it up to eleven. He is so used to playing such an agitated and paranoid character— because he is an agitated and paranoid man— that he can find a joke around every corner. I loved his character.

Now if you’re a fan of Seinfeld or Curb Your Enthusiasm, then Fish in the Dark is right up your alley. It has all the qualities of a sitcom but surrounded by the unique Broadway atmosphere. If you’re not familiar, however, with Larry David’s work, then this play makes for quite the introduction. It’s everything marvelous and gratifying about a Larry David work. Also, this play has an absolutely stellar cast. Rita Wilson plays Brenda, Norman Drexel’s sarcastic and lovable wife. Ben Shenkman (Angels in America, Burn Notice, Royal Pains) plays Arthur Drexel, Norman’s successful and self-absorbed brother.

However, the moment is fleeting. This play is up for change; notably in the cast. As of June 9th, Larry David and Rita Wilson will be stepping down from their roles and will be replaced by Jason Alexander (Seinfeld) and Glenne Headly (Dirty Rotten Scoundrels) to the show’s end on July 19th. But that’s not bad news! That’s actually a great addition. Let me elaborate. I am a huge Seinfeld fan; HUGE. If you are too, then you’ll love the addition of George Costanza, Jason Alexander’s character on Seinfeld, to the cast. I think I may  actually have to go again in a few weeks to see it again; just to see how Mr. Alexander takes this role on.

However, not everyone is going to see a show twice in order to compare the actors and what each of them brought to the table. Who's got that kind of time? So let me attempt to break it down and help you choose. If you prefer Curb Your Enthusiasm over Seinfeld, then you should act fast and go see the show while Larry David is still performing. On the other hand, if you prefer Seinfeld over Curb, wait until Jason Alexander joins the cast. I believe that both actors make a tremendous leading man for this play (I know; what a cop out) but that the main difference will be seen in the history of these actors and their portrayal of such a character.

Whatever performance you choose, Applause has tickets for it! Fish in the Dark plays at the Cort Theatre until July 19. Larry David and Rita Wilson step down on June 7th and Jason Alexander and Glenne Headly start on June 9th. Call us anytime and you can get tickets for this show! We’d love to talk to you!

Downtown Sensation Hamilton Moving Uptown To Broadway This Summer

HamiltonWhat's that you say? Another big Broadway musical opening in the Summer? Is July the new April? O.K. I wouldn't go that far. Hamilton, a new musical which was a huge hit at the Public Theatre this Spring, is set to begin previews on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on July 13. Opening night is scheduled for August 6. I can't tell you how excited I am for this show. Actually I can, but that would take all day, and you have better things to do right? All I can say is that you are in for a treat my friends. Now for those of you out there who know nothing about the show, it is based on Alexander Hamilton. You've heard of him right?

Well just in case you've forgotten, just pull a $10 bill out of your wallet, and take a look at the guy on the front. That's right. It's Alexander Hamilton. Oh and just in case you didn't know, he is one of only two non-presidents to appear on a currently issued U.S. bills. Benjamin Franklin is the other one by the way. I know. I know. Enough with the history lesson. After all you came here to find out more about the show. So why not get to it? Here is a brief but informative synopsis about Hamilton for you to peruse. Enjoy!

Hamilton, is a a new musical about the scrappy young immigrant who forever changed America: Alexander Hamilton. From bastard orphan to Washington's right hand man, rebel to war hero, loving husband caught in the country's first sex scandal to Treasury head who made an untrusting world believe in the American economy, Hamilton is an exploration of a political mastermind. George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Eliza Hamilton, and lifelong Hamilton friend and foe, Aaron Burr, all attend this revolutionary tale of America's fiery past told through the sounds of the ever-changing nation we've become.

Now wait a minute. I almost forgot to mention one of the biggest selling points of the show. The creator and writer of the show. The brilliant and incredibly talented Lin-Manuel Miranda. You remember him? He wrote a little show a few years ago called In The Heights that won the Tony Award for Best Musical, and turned Broadway on it's ear. Of course you did. I loved that show by the way. Now you can see why I'm so excited to see Hamilton right? What about you? Want tickets to see the show that is sure to be one of the biggest hits this season? Well you have come to the right place my friends.Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts at Applause will do the rest. Get your tickets to see Hamilton on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theatre. I can't wait. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Amazing Grace To Begin Previews On Broadway Next Month

Poster for Amazing Grace
You know the song. Now see the show it's based on. Like how I rhymed there? Amazing Grace, which is based on the 1779 song of the same name, is set to begin previews at the Nederlander Theatre on June 25, with opening night scheduled for July 16. What's that? A new Broadway show opening in the middle of the Summer? Unheard of right? Now while it's not out of the ordinary, most shows tend to open in the Fall, or in the Spring closer to Tony season. Makes sense to me. After all, the later a show opens, the fresher it is in the minds of the voters.

But enough about next years Tony Awards. You came here to get information on Amazing Grace. So let's get to it. According to AllMusic, an online music service website, there have been over 7,000 recordings of the song since September 2011. Some of the most famous renditions include Aretha Franklin, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash, Elvis Presley, and Mahalia Jackson. O.K. so now that you know who sang it, let's find out what the show is about shall we? Here is a brief synopsis about Amazing Grace to tell you more. Enjoy!

Amazing Grace is based on the awe-inspiring true story behind the world’s most beloved song. A captivating tale of romance, rebellion and redemption, this radiant production follows one man whose incredible journey ignited a historic wave of change.John Newton , a willful and musically talented young Englishman, faces a future as uncertain as the turning tide. Coming of age as Britain sits atop an international empire of slavery, he finds himself torn between following in the footsteps of his father — a slave trader — and embracing the more compassionate views of his childhood sweetheart. But when a perilous voyage on the high seas finds John in his darkest hour, a transformative moment of self-reckoning inspires a blazing anthem of hope that will finally guide him home.

Now to be honest when this show was first announced I wasn't quite sure what to think. However after reading that, and seeing some of the clips from the Chicago production, I am intrigued. I think I might just have to check it out. How about you? Want tickets to see Amazing Grace? Well you have come to the right place my friends. We sell it. In fact we sell tickets to every show on the Great White Way. Not only that but if you call now, we can get you tickets to see Amazing Grace at some incredible savings. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru September 6, it is for select seats, and always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Amazing Grace on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theatre fans.

An Act of God Will Make You Believe in Jim Parsons

Broadway theatre is such a diverse medium for creativity. There is no formula for a memorable, enjoyable show. A full-on dramatic, musical spectacle like Phantom of the Opera has the ability to leave its audience astounded but so does a pared down, three-cast member comedy like An Act of God. A smile can come out of any type of play or musical as long as its done right.

And An Act of God is done right

An Act of God is a one-on-one rap session with the Almighty Himself. God, played by the ever so sharp Jim Parsons (Big Bang Theory), comes down from the infinite heavens along with his archangels Gabriel and Michael to Studio 54 to get some things off his chest and to answer some of the human race’s deepest, oldest, most frequently asked questions. In this show, God is a jaded Creator and tired of our human race BS and wants to spend 90 minutes or so to make fun of us so we get the message. It’s hysterical because we totally deserve it.

An Act of God is a minimalist play. There’s only three cast members, not much blocking and stage direction, and the set is pretty simple. But Jim Parson’s clever and quick quips and his expert comedic timing make the entire show. He controls the set just as powerfully as, say, God would. He is dynamic, game for anything, and totally on the ball. He will catch you off guard (maybe even take a shot at you) and leave you laughing uncontrollably in your seat.

I guess, if there was a formula for a great Broadway show of any genre, it would at least include smart writing and charismatic actors to carry it out. The goal of a Broadway show, or at least one of them, is to make the audience feel that what’s happening in the theatre is real. An Act of God definitely holds up on that end.

If you enjoy a wickedly clever comedy and love Jim Parsons (and honestly, who doesn’t?) then you should check out An Act of God playing at Studio 54. Here at Applause Theatre and Entertainment Services we can get you tickets for a great price and ensure that you will have a heavenly experience.

Penn And Teller To Return To Broadway This Summer

What? You mean you didn't know that Penn and Teller have been on Broadway before? Well they have. However it has been over twenty-five year's since these world famous illusionists have performed on the Great White Way. Now believe it or not, but I am a huge Penn and Teller fan. In fact, one of the very first VHS cassettes that I purchased as a kid, was Penn and Teller's Cruel Tricks for Dear Friends.

A VHS cassette? Yes I know. I'm aging myself aren't I? I swear I must have watched that tape over a hundred times. Like I said. I'm a fan. Previews for their latest show are set to begin at the Marquis Theatre on July 7 and play thru August 16. Now for those of you who know nothing about Penn and Teller you are in for a treat my friends.

They are truly the best at what they do. Which is why you need to see them. Of course I'm guessing you might want a little information on them first right? After all you're the one that is purchasing the tickets. So let's get to it. Here is a little synopsis of the show to wet your appetite. Enjoy!

PENN & TELLER seem to be everywhere: Celebrity Apprentice, Dancing with the Stars, world tours, Las Vegas! Now, the evil geniuses return to the place that helped launch their careers. Broadway! For the first time in almost 25 years, the duo comes home, where they will bring astonishing tricks from their record-breaking Vegas act, along with their most outrageous classics, to the Marquis Theatre.

Throughout their eclectic and indefinable careers, the duo has stabbed and shot at each other, been run over by tractor trailers, and caught bullets in their mouths. Now, for 6 weeks only, PENN & TELLER promise to shock and amaze Broadway like never before, and keep it all family friendly…for really demented families.

Sounds like fun to me. I know. Big surprise right? The only question is how do you get tickets? Well it's easier than you might think. Just give us a call and we can get tickets for you. See? I told you it was easy. Get your tickets to see Penn and Teller on Broadway at the Marquis Theatre. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time magic fans.

One Of London's Longest Running Shows Is The Woman In Black

The Woman in Black TicketsThat's right theatre fans. For over twenty-five years, The Woman In Black has been thrilling London audiences of all ages. The show, which is based on the Susan Hill novel of the same name, opened at the Lyric Hammersmith Theatre in January 1989 to rave reviews from critic's and audiences alike. In August 1989, the show transferred to the Fortune Theatre, where it remains today. It is also the second longest running non-musical in the history of the West End, after The Mousetrap. I guess you could say it's pretty popular huh?

Now while I have never been to London, I have seen the show. How you ask? Well that's because the show played a limited run Off-Broadway in 2001. Unfortunately it wasn't as well received as the London production, and closed after a run of only two months. Oh well. I guess American audiences weren't ready for it. Oh and by the way, I loved the show. Now don't worry. I won't spoil the plot. What I will tell you, is that The Woman In Black is one thrilling night in the theatre.

Now if you've noticed, I have used the word thrilling twice to describe the show. That's because it's a thriller. I guess you learn something new every day. Oh and one other thing I bet you didn't know. Every character in the play is performed by two actor's. Let me guess. You're a little intrigued now aren't you? Intrigued enough to purchase tickets to see it? Well just in case you still aren't sure, here is a little synopsis of the show to help you decide. Enjoy!

Fog and creepily haunted houses, supernatural happenings, sea mists and dark stormy nights, lonely funerals and creaking attic doors, all combine in this gripping adaptation of Susan Hill's tense and thrilling story to create a play that taps our primal fears. A grieving lawyer believes a curse has been cast over him and his family by the Woman In Black. In an attempt to exorcise the spirit, he engages a skeptical young actor to help him tell his story. His plan begins innocently enough, but as the border between reality and fantasy blur, the horror starts and the flesh begins to creep.

Thrilling right? O.K. I promise not to use that word again. But you have to admit I'm right. So now are you ready to purchase tickets? Great. Now the only question is how do you get them? Well now, you would think that a show that has been playing all those years would be pretty easy to get right? Maybe. But why not just save yourself the hassle of waiting in a long line, and get your tickets before you get there? Makes sense to me. Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts will do all the work for you. It's as easy as that. Get your tickets to see The Woman In Black at the Fortune Theatre in London. It is one thrilling night in the theatre. Sorry. I couldn't resist. Until next time theatre fans.

Now Is The Best Time To Get Tickets To See War Horse In London

Heading across the pond soon and want to see a show? How about War Horse? It is after all one of the most celebrated shows of the past decade. Based on the 1982 novel of the same name, War Horse is one show you don't want to miss. Now while I have never been to London, I did see the Broadway production of War Horse.

It was fantastic. In fact I would dare say I liked it better than the movie, and that is coming from a huge Steven Spielberg fan. So what exactly is War Horse about? Well as I'm sure you figured out by now, it takes place during the war. But which one? Well maybe a little synopsis of the show will help you out. Enjoy!

War Horse TicketsAt the outbreak of World War 1, Joey, young Albert's beloved horse, is sold to the cavalry and shipped to France. He's soon caught up in enemy fire, and fate takes him on an extraordinary odyssey. However Albert cannot forget Joey. Since he is still not old enough to enlist, he embarks on a treacherous mission to find him and bring him home.

That sounds like one powerful drama now doesn't it? Now like I said, I loved the show. It was theatre at it's finest. So what about you? Are you ready to get tickets to see the show that won five 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Play of the Year? Well guess what? We sell them.

Get Tickets To See The Play That Goes Wrong In London

The Play That Goes Wrong TicketsInteresting title for a show don't you think? The Play That Goes Wrong, which first premiered in London in 2012, recently won the 2015 Olivier Award for Best New Comedy of the Year. So what exactly is the show about? Well first of all, we know it's a comedy. And second of all we can probably guess it's about a play of some sorts. Now before you purchase tickets I'm guessing you might want a little more information. So let's get to it. Here is a brief synopsis about The Play That Goes Wrong for you to peruse. Enjoy!

The Play That Goes Wrong is a highly physical comedy packed with finely-tuned farce and Buster Keaton inspired slapstick delivered with split-second timing. The play introduces The ‘Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society’ who are attempting to put on a 1920s’ murder mystery, but as the title suggests, everything that can go wrong… does, as the accident prone thespians battle on against all the odds to get to their final curtain call.

Sounds funny to me. But I'm not the one purchasing tickets. You are. Now the only question is how do you get tickets? Well it's actually easier than you might think. Just give us a call and of our friendly ticket experts at Applause can get you tickets to see the show that The Telegraph called, " a great-looking, brilliantly performed piece". The World's Longest Running Play Is The Mousetrap

The Mousetrap TicketsCan you believe that the London production of The Mousetrap has been playing since November 1952? That's almost sixty-three years for those of you keeping count. During it's historic run the show has only played at two theatres. The Ambassadors Theatre where it ran from November 1952 thru March 1974, and the St. Martin's Theatre where it continues to play. Now it's funny but in all those years the show has never played in New York.

So why is that so funny? Well it's just that most shows that play in London, eventually find their way over here. Especially ones that are as successful as The Mousetrap. Oh well. I guess that means if you want to see it, then you will have to go London to do it. So now that you know where it's playing, I'm guessing you're wondering what the show is about right? Now for the longest time, I thought the show was based on the Agatha Christie novel.

I had no idea that it was actually a play first. Makes sense to me. After all Agatha Christie was more well known as an acclaimed author prior to the play's opening. Thankfully it was a success. In fact she eventually had three shows running simultaneously at the same time. Pretty impressive don't you think? But enough about the author. It's time to find out what this long running play is all about. So let's get to it. Here is a brief synopsis about The Mousetrap for you to peruse. Enjoy!

A group of people gathered together in a remote part of the countryside discover there is a murderer in their midst. The question is which one of them is the guilty party. See? I told you it was brief. Also the show is famous for it's twist ending. In fact they even ask you not to speak about the identity of the killer as you are exiting the theatre. I mean you wouldn't want to spoil it for future audiences now would you? So now are you ready to order tickets? Of course you are. Good thing for you we sell them. In fact we sell tickets to every play and musical in London. Get your tickets to see The Mousetrap in London at the St. Martin's Theatre. Until next time murder mystery fans.

Get Tickets To See The London Production Of The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night Time

The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time TicketsLast week I posted a blog about how much I loved the Broadway production of The Curious Incident of the Dog In the Night Time. It truly was one of the most amazing nights that I have had in the theatre in a long time. What? You haven't seen it? Well you are missing out my friends. It is one show you don't want to miss. Now I know what you're thinking. How do I get tickets? Well luckily for you we sell it. Get your tickets to see......wait a minute. I almost forgot the most important thing. What in the heck is The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time about? That would probably help right? After all it's your money. So let's get right to it. Here my friends is a little synopsis about the show for you to enjoy.

Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs. Shears' dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. I made a decision. I did this by thinking of all the things I could do and deciding whether they were the right decision or not. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at math's while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

Like I said, I loved the show. Let's hope you do too. Now back to how you can get tickets to see it. Well I guess you could wait until you get over to London. That's one option I guess. Or you could just give us a call and we will get the tickets for you. Pretty easy huh? We try. Oh and just in case you're wondering we sell other plays as well. In fact we sell every show in London. Ten Years And Counting The London Production Of The 39 Steps Is Still A Must See

The 39 Steps TicketsTen years. Ten years of laughs. Ten years of great performances. What's that you say? You mean you still haven't seen it? You've only had ten years people. I know. We get it. The show's been playing for ten years. Enough already. You want to know how to get tickets. I mean that's why you're here right? Of course it would probably help to know what the show is about first. So why don't I tell you. Now I saw the show when it first premiered on Broadway in 2008. It was hilarious. To be honest I thought I might be a little lost.

Why you ask? Well, because the whole premise behind The 39 Steps is that they are essentially spoofing the well known Alfred Hitchcock film, as well as several other of his classics like Rear Window, Psycho, and Vertigo. The truth is I've never seen any of them. In fact I've never seen any of the films of Alfred Hitchcock. Therefore I wondered if I would get any of the jokes. Thankfully the show is so well put together that it didn't really matter. Like I said. It was hilarious. But don't take my word for it. After all I'm not the one buying tickets to see it. You are. Therefore here is a little synopsis to give you a little more info about The 39 Steps. Enjoy!

Based on an original idea by Nobby Dimon and Simon Corbie from the book by John Buchan. This brand new version will be performed by four actors playing a minimum of 150 roles and contains every single legendary scene from the award-winning movie including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the sensational death-defying finale in the London Palladium, besides many other favourite cinematic moments. Also including the memorable and controversial 'stockings and suspenders' scene.

Sounds pretty great right? Oh and did I mention that the show won the Olivier Award For Best Comedy in 2007, and has played in fourteen different countries around the world including China, Brazil, Germany, Sweden and Spain? Pretty impressive right? Now I bet you're ready to purchase tickets right? So how do you do it? Well I'll tell you. Just give us a call and we can get you tickets to see The 39 Steps. That's right. We sell it. In fact we sell every show in London. Get your tickets to see The 39 Steps in London at the Criterion Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

The 2015 Olivier Award Winner For Best Musical Of The Year Is Sunny Afternoon

Sunny Afternoon TicketsLet's see here. A new musical, about a rock group from London that launched in the 1960's, and it's not The Beatles. I must be crazy right? Oh I'm crazy. Crazy about this show. Man I wish I lived in London. Oh well. If Sunny Afternoon is as good as everyone says it is, then maybe one day soon it will come to Broadway. Fingers crossed. So what exactly is Sunny Afternoon about? Well as I mentioned, it's about a group of musicians from London that are not I repeat, not The Beatles. Any guesses?

Well, how about I give you a few clues. Two out of the four guys in the band are brothers. No, I'm talking about Oasis. Remember, I said the sixties. Not the nineties. But good guess. The group, which were together for over thirty years before disbanding in 1996, sold over fifty million records, and were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1990. Give up? It's The Kinks. I bet you're kicking yourself now aren't you? Don't feel bad. I probably wouldn't have gotten it either if I wasn't such a fan. So anyway, now that you know who the show is about, you must be ready to order tickets right?

Of course you are. But how? I mean I guess you could wait until you get over to London and hope and pray that they are still available. Now it's my experience, that shows that are as popular and as well received like Sunny Afternoon are a little tougher to get sometimes. I mean you don't want to get all the way over there and it's sold out do you? Of course you don't. So let me make it easy for you. As soon as you know when you are going to be over there, just give us a call and we can help you get tickets. Like I said. Easy. Get your tickets to see Sunny Afternoon at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London. Until next time theatre fans.

Still haven't seen one of the most popular show's of all time? Well what are you waiting for people? Now is the best time to get tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera. Better yet, why not see the show during your next trip to London? Now I have never been to London. However, I have seen The Phantom of the Opera. Several times in fact. Why not see it in the city where the show first premiered almost thirty years ago?

The Phantom of the Opera TicketsNow I know what you're thinking. This guy must really love The Phantom of the Opera right? Not only that, but he really wants you to see it, and see it in London. Well the truth is, I do love it. Like I said I've seen it several times. Maybe you have too. Or maybe you are one of the few people left on this earth who have never seen The Phantom of the Opera.

Now I realize, that there aren't that many of you out there, but they do exist. So how do you get tickets? Well it's actually pretty easy my friends. Although I'm guessing you might want to know what it's about first, before you pluck down your hard earned money. After all theatre tickets aren't cheap. So why don't I tell you. Here is a brief synopsis about the show to help convince you. Enjoy!

Set below the stage of the Paris Opera - a horribly deformed ex -performer 'haunts' the backstage and public areas - insisting that he has a box for his own private use. He falls in love with a beautiful young chorus singer and trains his pupil (who never sees him) to take over the star role. She excels and everyone wonders where she came from and how she developed such a beautiful voice. The Phantom, who has now revealed himself to her, decides to take her with him to spend her life in his subterranean lair but she is rescued by her lover.

So now are you ready to order? Of course you are. Now like I said before, getting tickets to see the show is pretty easy. In fact all you have to do is give one of our friendly ticket experts a call and we will take care of the rest. Easy right? London Production Of Miss Saigon Is Now On Sale Thru December 2015

Miss Saigon TicketsGrowing up in a small farm community in Illinois, I wasn't exposed to a whole lot of theatre, except for my local high school and community theatre productions. Which is why shows like The Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables were favorites of mine. Then a little show called Miss Saigon came along, and changed the way I looked at musical theatre forever. Suffice to say it was now at the top of my list. Cut to a few years later and I finally got to see it.

Not only that, but I got to see it with it's original star and Tony winner Lea Salonga. What a treat that was, and what a great night in the theatre my friends. For those of you who never got to see the show while it was here, you missed out. Thankfully Miss Saigon is now back in the city where it first opened over twenty-five years ago.

The show, which first premiered in September 1989, is now in it's second blockbuster year at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. In fact, this new production, broke a new world record for opening day ticket sales. Not too bad for a show that debuted over a quarter of a century ago. Now like I said, I loved the show. I even saw it over a half a dozen times during it's near ten year run on Broadway.

The big question is, "When is it coming back to Broadway?" Let's hope soon. But until then, I guess you will just have to head over to London to see it. Mind if I stow away in your suitcase? Just kidding. I can wait until it comes here. After all I waited almost three years until I saw it the first time. What's a little longer right? Now for those of you who are not familiar with the show, and want a little more information, you have come to the right place. Here is a little synopsis about Miss Saigon for you to check out. Enjoy!

A tragedy of passion and beauty Miss Saigon is one of the most stunning theatrical spectacles of all time. In the turmoil of the Vietnam War, Chris, an American soldier, and Kim, a Vietnamese girl, fall in love and marry but are distressingly separated when Saigon falls. As years pass, Chris, unable to contact Kim, remarries and attempts to move on with his life. Kim, however, gives birth to Chris's son and waits faithfully for Chris's return.

When circumstances bring Chris back to Vietnam he learns the truth, but before he is able to speak with Kim, she takes her own life ensuring their son will be taken back to America with his father. Miss Saigon is an epic, daring musical that is universal in its emotional power. The sung-through, pop-inflected score gives a multi-ethnic cast of strong singers ample opportunities to shine. Written by Tony winners Claude-Michel Schonberg, Alain Boublil (Les Miserables) and Richard Maltby Jr. (Closer Than Ever, Baby), Miss Saigon is one show you don't want to miss.

Well I'm convinced. Of course you probably already knew I would be now didn't you? How about you? Ready to order tickets to see Miss Saigon in London? Well my friends you are in luck. We sell it. Better yet we sell tickets to every show in London. I bet you didn't know that did you? I guess you learn something new every day. Get your tickets to see Miss Saigon at the Prince Edward Theatre in London. You will love it. I know I sure did. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Winner Memphis Is Now Playing In London

Memphis TicketsThat's right theatre fans. You can now get tickets to see Memphis in the West End. The show, which won four 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical of the Year, opened in London at the Shaftesbury Theatre on October 23, 2014 to rave reviews. Being in the business that we are in, we often get tickets to see all of the new show's prior to opening.

That way when people call asking what the show is about, we can tell them. Well that and whether we liked it or not. Now it's not very often that my coworkers and I agree on a show. However in the case of Memphis, it was unanimous. We all loved it. I mean how could you not? It has a great story, and a score that will have you tapping your feet all night long.

Which by the way in case you didn't know was written by Bon Jovi keyboardist David Bryan. That alone was enough to make me want to see it. Oh and did I mention that he also won the Tony Award that year for Best Score? Pretty impressive for a rock guy making his Broadway debut. I know I'm impressed. O.K. so now that you know who wrote it, you probably want to know what it's about right? Well let's get right to it shall we? Here is a brief synopsis about Memphis for you to peruse. Enjoy!

Inspired by the legendary DJ Dewey Phillips and set against a rock-and-roll score, Memphis follows a 1950s disc jockey who plays African-American music for his white listeners, and soon he begins to fall for a talented black singer. Memphis follows the fame and forbidden love of a radio DJ who wants to change the world and a club singer who is ready for her big break. Join them on their incredible journey to the ends of the airwaves – filled with laughter, soul and rock 'n' roll!

Starring the Queen of British soul, multi-award-winning recording artist Beverley Knight (The Bodyguard) as club singer 'Felicia Farrell' and West end star Killian Donnelly (The Commitments, Billy Elliot the Musical, Les Misérables) as radio DJ 'Huey Calhoun', Memphis will leave you feeling exhilarated by its explosive blend of electrifying music, soaring emotion and roof-raising energy.

Well I'm sold. How about you? So how do you get tickets? Get Tickets To See Matilda In London

Let me just start off by saying that I was blown away when I saw Matilda for the first time. Now prior to seeing it, I had read all the reviews from the London production. They were great of course. Which is probably why it remains one of the West End's most popular shows. However I will admit I was a little hesitant. After all the show had so much hype behind it. What if it wasn't as good as everyone said it was?

Matilda TicketsThankfully the critic's were right. What an amazing show. From the very beginning I was hooked. Now does it help if you've read the book first? Maybe. However I really don't think it matters all that much. After all I didn't need to read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory to enjoy Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Which by the way is written by Roald Dahl. You know him right? The guy who also wrote Matilda.

Like how I tied those two together? I thought you might. So, now that you know a little bit about it, I'm sure you're ready to purchase tickets right? Well, it might help if I told you what it was about first. After all you're the one buying tickets to see it. Not me. So let's get to it. Here is a little synopsis of Matilda for you to check out. Enjoy!

Based on the 1988 children's novel by best-selling author Roald Dahl, Matilda: The Musical charts the journey of the young, gifted Matilda Wormwood. Matilda is an extraordinary girl with a vivid imagination and a sharp mind whose talents are constantly belittled by her cruel parents and headmistress. Dreaming of a better life for herself, she dares to take a stand against these oppressive forces and takes her destiny into her own hands.

So now are you ready to purchase tickets? I know I sure would be theatre fans. Of course I can say that since I've already seen it. Now the big question of course is how do you get them? Well it's not as hard as you might think. In fact it's pretty easy. Just give us a call and we will take care of the rest. Wait a minute. You mean you didn't know that we sell tickets for Matilda? Well we do. In fact we sell tickets for every play and musical in London. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Matilda at the Cambridge Theatre in London. You will love it. I know I sure did. Until next time theatre fans.

The World's Most Popular Musical Is Mamma Mia

That's right theatre fans. I said the "World's Most Popular Musical". Mamma Mia, which first premiered in 1999, has since been seen by over fifty four million people, and grossed over two billion dollars at the box office. That is why it is so popular I guess. Which is why you need to see it. Heading over to London soon, and want to see a show that will have you dancing in the aisles?

Well than Mamma Mia is the show for you. Now while I have seen the show, maybe you haven't. Which is why you might want to know a little bit about it before you purchase tickets for it right? Of course you do. It's your money after all. Here is a brief synopsis about the show for you to check out. Enjoy!

Mamma Mia TicketsMamma Mia tells the story of young Sophie, who has lived her entire life on the Greek island of Calicos and is preparing to marry her fiancé, Sky. There is only one problem. Sophie wants her father (whom she has never met) to walk her down the aisle at her wedding. Without telling her mother, Donna, about her secret wish, Sophie begins snooping around to try to find some mention of his existence.

She finds entries in her mother’s old journal that name three different men that Sophie decides could be her father. She then secretly invites all three of them and signs the invitations from her mother. On the eve of the wedding, guests begin to arrive, including the three men that Sophie invited. She can’t wait to find out which of them is her actual father. Featuring over twenty-five songs from Swedish super group ABBA, Mamma Mia is one show you don't want to miss.

Ready to see it now? Of course you are. The only question is how do you get tickets? Well I guess you could wait until you get over to London and wait in a long line. That sounds like fun. NOT! Or you could just call one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause and we will get them for you. It doesn't get any easier that that my friends. Get your tickets to see Mamma Mia at the Novello Theatre in London. You will have the time of your life. Until next time theatre fans.

The Lion King TicketsNow I know that The Lion King is popular. In fact the Broadway production is the most successful show of all time, with over six billion dollars in sales. I guess I shouldn't be too surprised though. Disney never does anything halfway. Which once again is why they are so successful at almost everything they do.

Now in it's fifteenth year, The Lion King continues to delight audiences of all ages eight times a week at the Lyceum Theatre in London. Having seen both the movie and the show it's hard to compare the two. I liked them both. Now to be honest nothing beats the thrill of sitting in a theatre, waiting for the lights to go down, and the magic to begin.

That's how film and live theatre are so much alike I guess, and which is why I love them both. But enough about what I like. You came here to find out how to get tickets to see The Lion King in London. So why don't I get right to it?

Well for starters, we sell the show. But I'm guessing you probably already knew that didn't you? The big question you have to ask yourself, "Is The Lion King the show for you?" It's hard to believe that they were only together for ten years. But what a decade of music that was my friends. In fact with over a hundred and seventy-eight million albums sold, The Beatles are ranked as the best selling artists in the United States.

Not too bad for a bunch of guys from Liverpool. The show, which has been playing in London since September 2012, is a must see for all Beatles fans.  Now like I said I love The Beatles. In fact when it was announced a couple of years ago that Let It Be was coming to Broadway I was beyond excited.

Unfortunately I didn't get the chance to see it, but I did have a few friends who did. They loved it. Of course they are huge Beatles fans like me so I guess I shouldn't be too surprised. London Production Of Jersey Boys Is A Must See

Jersey Boys TicketsPlanning a trip to London in the near future? Well of course you are going to see a show or two while you're there right? How about Jersey Boys? It is after all one of the most celebrated shows of the last decade. The show, which opened in London in 2008 to rave reviews, won the Olivier Award for Best Musical of the Year. It's funny but when the show was first announced most people were sure it was going to fail. After all besides Mamma Mia there really hadn't been a lot of successful jukebox musicals. Now as we all know Jersey Boys went on to become a huge hit.

Which is why I am probably still writing about it all these years later. Well that and it's a great show. I first saw the show a few years into it's run and loved it. Although I'll be honest going in I wasn't quite sure. Yes I know that the critic's loved it, and it won all of those awards. I guess I thought because there was so much hype behind it, I was destined to be disappointed. Thankfully I wasn't. What a great night in the theatre.

Now as you all know Jersey Boys is based on Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. What you may not know is how much they struggled to become the band we know and love today. I mean how could you not with such classics like, "Walk Like A Man", "Big Girls Don't Cry, "Oh What A Night" and "Who Loves You". Well I'm sold. Of course I can say that since I've seen it. But what about those of you who haven't, and would like a little more information. Well here you go. Enjoy!

Jersey Boys is the Broadway musical based on the life story of Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons: Frankie Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi. The musical chronicles the lives of a group of blue-collar boys from the wrong side of the tracks who became one of the biggest American pop music sensations of all time. They wrote their own songs, invented their own sounds and sold 175 million records worldwide -- all before they were thirty.

So now are you ready to purchase tickets? Of course you are. But how do you get them? Well have you come to the right place my friends. We sell tickets for Jersey Boys. In fact we sell tickets to every show in London and around the world. So what are you waiting for people? Get your tickets to see Jersey Boys in London at the Piccadilly Theatre. Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show, and would like a little more information about it, you have come to the right place. Here is a brief synopsis of Les Miserables for you to peruse. Enjoy!

Based on elements of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables, this musical is one of the most successful around the world. Jean Valjean, released on parole after 19 years on the chain gang, finds that the 'ticket-of-leave' he must display by law, condemns him to be an outcast. Only the saintly Bishop of Digne treats him kindly, and Valjean, embittered by years of hardship, repays him by stealing some silver. Valjean is caught and brought back by the police, and is astonished when the Bishop lies to save him, also giving him two precious candlesticks.

Valjean decides to start his life anew. Things go well but 8 years later, an encounter with a face from the past threatens everything he now holds dear. The magnificent score includes the classic songs "I Dreamed a Dream," "On My Own," "Stars," "Bring Him Home," "Do You Hear the People Sing?," "One Day More," "Empty Chairs at Empty Tables," "Master Of The House" and many more.
