David Bowie's Lazarus To Open In London

Sophia Anne Caruso and Michael C. Hall in LazarusNow that my friends is what I call exciting news. Lazarus, which premiered Off- Broadway at the New York Theatre Workshop last November, will begin previews at the King's Cross Theatre on October 25, with opening night scheduled for November 8. It is scheduled to play thru January 22, 2017.

I had the pleasure of seeing the show a few days before it closed. Now I knew going in it was going to be interesting. However due to the untimely death of David Bowie, the show was more emotional that I or anyone could have expected. I'll never forget the sound of a young man sitting behind me weeping as Michael C. Hall sang "Heroes". It was something that I will never forget.

As I left the theatre that afternoon, I knew that I had witnessed something extraordinary. However I knew that no matter how good the show was, it would probably not be a good fit for Broadway. In fact later that night, I told my friend that it would be perfect for London. Looks like I was right. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the show, it is actually based on a novel by Walter Trevis called The Man Who Fell To Earth.

The musical tells the story of Thomas Newton, an alien who lives on earth, unable to die. Throughout his journey he meets a young girl who while human is on a similar path of destruction and despair. At least that's the way I saw it. In fact days after I saw it I was still talking about it. I wish all shows were like that. Tickets for the show are now on sale. Not only that but we will be selling them.

Just give us a call and we will do the rest. It's that easy. Oh and one more thing. Michael C. Hall, along with his young co-star Sophia Anne Caruso are reprising their roles for the London production. It just get's better and better my friends. Get your tickets to see Lazarus at the King's Cross Theatre in London. It is one show that you do not want to miss. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Sleepless In Seattle To Open In The West End

Scene from the movie Sleepless In SeattleExciting news theatre fans. One of the 90's most popular movies is heading to London. Not only that but it's a musical. Sleepless in Seattle, which is based on the 1993 film of the same name, is set to begin performances on March 25, 2017 at the Theatre Royal Plymouth's Lyric Theatre. As of now it is scheduled to play thru April 17 prior to it's run in the West End.

The show, which is written by Jeff Arch (co-writer of the film),and features a score by Ben Toth and Sam Forman, first premiered at the Pasadena Playhouse in 2013. It was directed by it's Artistic Director Sheldon Epps, who continues in that role for this new production. Oh and one other thing. The show is now being called Sleepless. Now I know what you're thinking. It's still set in Seattle right? Don't worry. It is. Now for those of you who are not familiar with the movie, here is a synopsis about the show to tell you more.

Sleepless tells the story of Sam Baldwin, and his eight year old son Jonah, who move to Seattle following the death of his wife Maggie. One night Jonah, who is eager for his father to remarry, calls into a radio talk show, and convinces Sam to tell his story.

Before long Sam is one of the most popular single man in America. Little does he know that Baltimore resident Annie Reed who heard his tale, soon falls for him. A man she he has never met. Can true love happen between two people who have never met?

Well I'm sold. Of course I love the movie so it's really no surprise. Tickets for the new musical are not on sale as of yet. However you can bet that when they do, we will be selling them. Stay tuned for this website for more info. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Return Of Motown Is A Must See

Motown: The MusicalBack in April 2013 I had the pleasure of seeing a brand new show on Broadway. It's title? Motown: The Musical. Being a huge fan of the music, I had no doubt that I was destined to have a great time. What I didn't expect was how much more I had to learn about the people behind those amazing songs. The show, tells the story of Motown founder Berry Gordy and his rise from the streets of Detroit to the bright lights of Hollywood.

Along the way he discovered and managed such acts as Diana Ross, The Jackson 5, Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, and my favorite group The Temptations. Featuring over sixty of the music world's greatest songs, Motown: The Musical is one show you do not want to miss. In fact I just saw it again last week and it was just as good as the first time.

By the way, for those of you who are looking to get tickets to the show you are in luck. We sell them. In fact if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at rates that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru November 10, it is not good for Saturday evening performances, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Motown: The Musical on Broadway at the Lunt Fontanne Theatre. You will have the time of your life. I know I did. Until next time theatre fans.

Get Tickets To See The New York Spectacular Starring The Radio City Rockettes

New York SpectacularBelieve it or not, but until last year I had never seen a show at Radio City Music Hall. I take that back. I did see Cheap Trick and Squeeze in 2009. However there were no Rockettes in that one. Now that would have been interesting don't you think? So anyway, in April 2015, I got the chance to see Radio City's latest creation, The Radio City Spring Spectacular, which also featured the world famous Rockettes.

So there I sat in the rear of the Orchestra waiting for the show to start, not really knowing what to expect. Cut to two hours later and I was enthralled. What a great show. Not only that but it is the perfect show for the whole family. So what exactly is this new version about? Set in New York City during the dog day's of Summer, The New York Spectacular tells the story of two kids who travel to the Big Apple on vacation with their family.

Soon after their arrival, they are separated from their parents. As the wander the streets, the city comes to life guiding them on a journey that they will never forget. Kind of reminds me of Home Alone 2 to me. Which by the way is one of my favorite movies. By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see the show you are in luck. We sell it. In fact we sell every show and event in New York City. Get your tickets to see the Radio City Spectacular at Radio City Music Hall. You only have until August 7 so don't delay. Call now. New Broadway Play The Encounter To Begin Performances This Fall

The EncounterWhat's that? A new play conceived, directed, and starring the same guy? That's got to be a first my friends. The Encounter, written by English actor and director Simon McBurney will begin previews at the John Golden Theatre on September 20, with opening night scheduled for September 29.

As of now the show is only scheduled to run thru January 8, 2017. So what exactly is the show about?Well after a little research, I found out that The Encounter takes place in 1969 in a secluded Brazilian rain forest where Loren McIntyre, a journalist from National Geographic discovers members of the Mayoruna Tribe.

Unable to communicate, and with suspicion growing, Loren and the tribes headman forge a bond telepathically. Well I'm hooked. Now in case my synopsis is not enough to convince you, I have included a few of the show's reviews for you to peruse. Enjoy!

New Comedy Oh Hello On Broadway To Premier This September

Oh, Hello On BroadwayWhat's that you say? A brand spanking new comedy on Broadway? Surely this can't be true? Well it is my friends. Oh, Hello on Broadway, which is written by and starring celebrated comedians Nick Kroll and John Mulaney, is set to begin previews at the Lyceum Theatre on September 23, with opening night scheduled for October 10.

So what exactly is this part-scripted, part spontaneous comedy about? Well for starters it's not two guys standing up on stage for ninety minutes telling jokes. Don't get me wrong. I love to laugh. But an hour and a half of jokes? That's a little much even for me. I know. I know. So what's it all about? I'm getting to it.

Oh, Hello on Broadway, tells the story of life long New Yorkers and bachelors Gil Faizon and George St. Geeland. As we see them navigate thru their daily lives, these two cantankerous and opinionated octogenarian's take the audience on a laugh a minute, tour-de-force that you will never forget. Now that sounds like my kind of show. How about you? By the way tickets for this ninety minute laugh fest are now on sale. Not only that, but we sell them. Get your tickets to see Oh, Hello on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre. I can't wait.

Hamilton Stars Play Their Final Broadway Performance- Will Prices Start To Fall Once Again?

Last night was the final performance for three Hamilton on Broadway stars. Can you just imagine the electricity in the air at the Richard Rodgers Theater? Three of the leads in the show that played in the roles of Alexander Hamilton, Aaron Burr and Eliza Hamilton have left the Broadway production last night. They are the show's creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, Leslie Odom Jr. and Phillipa Soo. The role of Alexander Hamilton will be played by Javier Munoz, who has been performing during weekend matinee shows for several months now.

In the audience were celebrities including Rosie O'Donnell, Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda, Spike Lee, Charlie Rose, Mariska Hargitay, and Secretary of State John Kerry. Wow, it must have been wonderful to have not only caught a glimpse of these famous people but I understand that when the shows creator and star Lin-Manuel Miranda came onto the stage, that he was given an intense one minute long plus standing ovation.

Mr. Miranda's incredibly inventive show is the most nominated show in the history of Broadway. Hamilton received 16 Tony Award nominations and won 11 Tony Awards at the 2016 awards presentation this year on June 12, 2016. He won two of those awards himself for Best Score and Best Book of a Musical. He also won a Tony Award for his first Broadway show called In The Heights some years back for Best Musical. Hamilton also won this year's Pulitzer Prize and a Grammy for the music.

Hamilton's story line is about the interesting events that surrounded our nation's first secretary of the treasury. Alexander Hamilton was the unlikely founding father who went from being a bastard, immigrant, orphan child to go onto become George Washington's right hand man. He also was a loving husband who got caught in the country's first sex scandal as well. His goal was to stop at nothing until he could make his mark on the newly created nation and to get the people to believe in the American economy.

Hamilton opened on Broadway on August 6, 2015 after previews began on July 13 last year. The show was playing at the very small Public Theater Off Broadway earlier in 2015 and every performance was sold out. When the show moved to its current home at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on west 46th street, I thought it would be much easier to get tickets seeing as how the theater has 1412 seats. Boy was I ever so wrong. Even after being in the ticket reselling industry for 39 years now it is amazing that I paid $100.00 a ticket to see the show and last nights performance cost upwards of $2000.00 or more (in the rear mezzanine). Some orchestra seats sold for allot more than that.

Still, I always believe that the best thing for high prices is in fact- high prices. I think this is because when the ticket buyers that paid a premium to see the big name stars like Mr. Miranda have seen the show, the prices have no where to go but downward. Just this morning I noticed that ticket broker prices for Hamilton ticket inventory have gone down much lower than the last three months have been. That's good news for so many theatre fans that simply were not going to fork over huge premiums to see Hamilton. Thank goodness.

At my company Applause-Tickets, we have been trying to coach clients to buy tickets for many of the other terrific Broadway Shows at reasonable prices. In fact when tickets were selling for $2000.00 just to get in and sit in the rear mezzanine, we suggested that a theatergoer could go to see ten shows for the price of one Hamilton ticket. Most clients have been seeing a few different shows deciding to wait to see Hamilton at a later date. Some, of course, have paid unusually high premiums to see the show in the near term.

If you or someone you know would like to purchase Hamilton tickets or other Broadway Show tickets, we hope you'll consider a call to my team of local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets. We're located in the heart of New York City's Broadway Theatre District and are open for business 24/7. We love to talk about all the fantastic lineup of Broadway Shows and feel so fortunate to be able to get to see most of them. What could be better than seeing a live Broadway Show?

Cheers to Hamilton and best wishes to the new Broadway cast members as well as to Hamilton's new production opening in Chicago in September 2016 as well as the planned London and touring productions set to begin in 2017.

I sincerely hope you enjoyed this post on Hamilton tickets. Enjoy the theater my friends.

Sally Field To Return To Broadway In The Glass Menagerie

The Glass MenagerieNow I know what you are thinking. Didn't we just have a first rate revival of The Glass Menagerie on Broadway a little over two years ago? We did. In fact it starred two-time Tony winner Cherry Jones, and was nominated for seven 2014 Tony Awards, including Best Play Revival of the Year. It would go on to lose to Raisin In The Sun. Oh well. You can't win them all I guess.

Now I didn't get a chance to see the last revival. But everyone I talked too loved it. In fact most people said it was by far the best production of this Tennessee Williams classic that they had ever seen. Which brings me to my point. Do we really need another one this soon? Maybe not. But when two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field wants to star in a Broadway play, most producers are not going to say no. No matter what people may think. After all it's all about the all might dollar my friends.

Previews for the show are set to begin at the John Golden Theatre on February 14, 2017, with opening night scheduled for March 23. The show, which is being directed by Tony winner Sam Gold (Fun Home), will star fellow Tony Award winning director Joe Mantello (Wicked, The Humans), as well as Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) and Broadway newcomer Madison Ferris. Now that is one cast that I can't wait to see. Now for those of you that are not familiar with The Glass Menagerie, here is a little synopsis to tell you more. Enjoy!

Set in 1937 in St. Louis, Missouri, the play takes place in the home of southern matriarch Laura Wingfield, who lives there with her son Tom and her daughter Laura, who was stricken with a bout of polio as a young child. Based on Williams himself, as well as his Mother, The Glass Menagerie is told thru the eyes of Tom, who becomes frustrated by his mother's obsession with finding a lover for young Laura.

Sounds like a great night in the theatre don't you think? Tickets for this beloved play are not yet on sale. However you can bet that when they do, we will be selling them my friends. Stay tuned to our website for further updates. Get your tickets to see Tennesse Williams The Glass Menagerie on Broadway at the John Golden Theatre. Expect it to be a big contender at next year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.

Previews for the show are set to begin at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on November 25, 2016 and play thru January 1, 2017.

So now that you know when it's playing, I'm guessing you might want to know a little bit about the show right? Well I already told you that they are magicians. However they are so much more that that. During their last Broadway engagement I finally got a chance to check them out. After all it was a free ticket. What did I have to lose right? To say I was blown away would be an understatement.

I can't remember the last time I had so much fun at the theatre. Trust me when I say this. You will have the time of your lives my friends. By the way, tickets for this once in a lifetime event are not on sale. Yet. But you can bet that when they do, we will be selling them. Get your tickets to see The Illusionist's live on Broadway. Your holiday season won't be the same.

Mary-Louise Parker Returns To Broadway In Heisenberg

One of my all-time favorite actresses is Mary-Louise Parker. She will be appearing in a new character play this Fall of 2016 called Heisenberg. She will co-star along with Denis Arndt. Ms. Parker is very well know for her role as a "pot dealing mom" in the long-running television series Weeds. In addition she was nominated for a few Tony Awards while also winning a Tony Award for her part in the Broadway hit Proof.

Heisenberg is written by a brilliant playwright by the name of Simon Stephens, who is best known for penning Broadway's The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night-time, another fabulous Best Play of a few years back.

The story line is an interesting one for sure and takes place on a crowded train station in London. Apparently a woman by the name of Clare happens to notice a much older man named Alex. Clare kisses Alex firmly on the neck and before you know it, their lives electrify instantly. Sounds good so far right?

Heisenberg is a production of the Manhattan Theatre Club which produces several shows in New York theaters year round. The show is transferring from a sold-out run Off Broadway in the Summer of 2015. Preview performances begin at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on West 47th Street in New York City on September 20, 2016 prior to a October 13, 2016 opening night.

If this sounds like a show you might want to see, kindly consider a call to our team at Applause-Tickets at 212-307-7050. We'd love to assist you in obtaining Heisenberg tickets in New York City or the Broadway Show of your choosing.

Cheers and good luck to the cast and creative team at Heisenberg.

The Musical Revival of Falsettos Sets Its Sights on Broadway This Fall

I can remember that way back in 1981 there was an original one-act musical called March of The Falsettos followed by another one-act musical called Falsettoland in 1990. They both played Off Broadway in small theaters These two combined shows comprised the creation of the Broadway show called Falsettos.

Falsettos originally opened on April 29, 1992 and played for a little over a year at New York's John Golden Theater. It will be revived once again starting preview performances at the Walter Kerr Theatre in New York starting on September 29 with an opening night set for October 27, 2016. Right now the show is scheduled to play a limited engagement and close on January 8, 2017. I have a feeling that if the critics give Falsettos some solid reviews, then the show should probably extend its run for a while longer. After all, Falsettos is set to have an incredibly talented cast which include Broadway veteran Christian Borle (Smash, Something Rotten), Stephanie J. Block (The Mystery of Edwin Drood, The Boy From Oz, Anything Goes, Wicked) and Andrew Rannells (The Book of Mormon). These three wonderful actors will be joined by a terrific supporting cast.

Falsettos story is an interesting one and tells the story of Marvin, his ex-wife, his new boyfriend, his adolescent son, his psychiatrist and some neighbors. Marvin looks to keep his family a close, tight-knit one despite substantial changes in his life amid the backdrop of the AIDS era and changing times.

The original version of Falsettos on Broadway won Tony Awards for Best Book and Best Score of a Musical in 1992. The Book is written by James Lapine and William Finn who also wrote the music for the show.

I'm looking forward to seeing the musical revival of Falsettos on Broadway this Fall of 2016. Although Falsettos tickets are going on sale soon, we welcome the opportunity to help Applause-Tickets clients in obtaining great seats for what I personally think will be a very successful revival.

If you need assistance, kindly consider a call to our friendly Broadway ticket experts in New York City at 212-307-7050. We're open 24/7 to help.

We wish great success to the cast and creative team at Falsettos on Broadway.

A Bronx Tale Dates Are Set For Broadway In November 2016

I'm really excited about a brand new musical called A Bronx Tale, which will begin preview performances at New York's Longacre Theatre on November 3, 2016. Opening night is set for December 1, 2016 as of this writing.

A Bronx Tale was originally a one-man show written and starring veteran film star Chaz Palminteri. After the one-man show, A Bronx Tale became a very successful film which starred Robert De Niro, Chaz Palminteri, Joe Pesci and Lillo Brancato Jr. (who played the youngster).

A Bronx Tale takes place in the 1960's against a backdrop of racial times and tells the story of an Italian-American teenager who gets caught up being interested in getting involved with the local "mob" while being torn wanting to do the right thing for his dad, a local bus driver. The young man starts to envision himself as an aspiring mob boss one day.

A Bronx Tale recently played from February 4 through March 6, 2016 at the Papermill Playhouse in New Jersey and was very well received by theatre critics. I can't imagine that this show won't do very well on Broadway seeing as how it's been a successful film and popular out-of-town stage production. Especially when we consider the incredible creative team assembled. They include a very solid book written by Mr. Palminteri, music and lyrics collaboration by Alan Menken and Glenn Slater, direction by longtime Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks and Robert De Niro and choreography by Sergio Trujillo.

The musical score is the "Doo Wop" sound. Something that will be unique for Broadway these days.

I'm thinking that there will be a rush to buy A Bronx Tale tickets as soon as word gets out that tickets have been officially on sale to the public for several days now. If you're excited to see A Bronx Tale for one of the preview performances, or after opening night, you may want to consider calling our team of local Broadway experts at Applause-Tickets. We work 24/7 these days to assist theatergoers all around the world that are headed to see one of the fabulous Broadway Shows lighting up The Great White Way in the 2016-2017 season.

Cheers and best wishes to the creative team and cast for A Bronx Tale, coming to the Longacre Theatre in New York City this November. I hope you enjoyed this article from Applause Ticket News.

Summer Savings Are Here

Heading to New York in the coming weeks? Well of course you are going to see a show or two while your here right? Why not see three? Or four? Look we all know that going to a Broadway or even an Off-Broadway show can be expensive. One of my first Broadway show's was Grand Hotel at the Gershwin Theatre, where I sat in the very last row of the Mezzanine.

The cost of my ticket? $7.50. The cost of a Rear Mezzanine seat for Hamilton? Over twelve hundred dollars. My how things have changed. Don't get me wrong. I would love to see Hamilton some day. But twelve hundred dollars is a lot of money. Especially when you consider that is one month's rent plus utilities. But enough about Hamilton. After all, there over forty shows playing on Broadway. Most of which you can see for less.

Which is the reason for today's blog. Like I said theatre tickets aren't cheap. But they can be. You just have to know where to look. Or speak to an expert like us who can help you get tickets at prices that can't be beat. As we speak there are over thirty show's both On and Off-Broadway that are available at "Insider Prices". All you have to do is give one of our friendly ticket experts at Applause a call and we will do the rest. It's that easy. Plus don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week, 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all of your ticket needs. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did. Until next time theatre fans.
