New Musical Anastasia Is Now In Previews

AnastasiaWhat's that you say? A new musical based on a movie? Now to be fair it was a movie musical. An animated one that is of course. Anastasia, which was released to critical acclaim in 1997, begins performances tonight at the Broadhurst Theatre, with opening night scheduled for April 24.

The show, which features a score by Tony winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Rocky The Musical), and a book by Tony winner Terrence McNally (Master Class,  Kiss Of The Spider Women), is being directed by fellow Tony winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder).

So what exactly is the show all about? Well I'll tell you. Set in Paris, during the height of the Russian Empire, this new musical tells the story of Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Czar Nicholas II, whose entire family was executed by the Bolshevik secret police in 1918. However Anastasia's fate remained a mystery for many years, as the location of her burial was unknown during the Communist rule.

Now for those of you who would like tickets to see Anastasia, you have come to the right place. Not only that, but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru May 28, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Anastasia on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Miss Saigon To Open Tonight On Broadway

Miss SaigonHas it really been twenty-six years since Miss Saigon first took Broadway by storm? I mean I remember when it first opened back in 1991, and I thought it was one of the greatest cast recordings that I had ever heard. Now here we are in 2017 and Miss Saigon is back where it belongs. In fact it's playing at it's original home, the Broadway Theatre. I know I'm excited about it.

Now no matter what the critic's have to say, I have no doubt that this new production is going to be a hit. As of now the show is scheduled to close on January 13, 2018. Although I would not be surprised if it extends. Fingers crossed. By the way for those of you who want to see the show, you are in luck. We sell it.

Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see Miss Saigon at some incredible rates. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru June 10, it is not valid for performances from April 10-16, and May 26-27. Now Is The Best Time To See Aladdin On Broadway

AladdinStill haven't seen Aladdin yet? Well there is no better time than the present. The show, which is now in it's fourth year on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre, is one of the most entertaining shows you will ever see. Now I'll admit that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. In fact when I got invited to see the show, I wasn't sure if I was going to go.

Thankfully a co-worker of mine convinced me to see it. What a pleasant surprise. I dare say I was grinning from ear to ear from the first number to the last. Who would have thought? Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show I have some great news. We sell it. In fact if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that are lower than ever.

By the way, for those of you that are not familiar with the New Amsterdam Theatre, it is one of the largest on Broadway. Now I know what you're thinking. Surely all the seats can't be a full view if  the theatre is so big right? Wrong. Oh sure some of the seats may be a little further away then others, but they all have a full view of the stage. How many theatres can say that? Not too many my friends. Get your tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Based On Liberace To Hit The Stage

Liberace 8 Allan Warren.jpgHard to believe but it's been over thirty years since "Mr. Showmanship" has passed away. Liberace, who's career spawned four decades, was one of the world's most successful entertainers prior to his death on February 4, 1987. Throughout his illustrious career he was honored with two Emmy Awards, six gold albums, and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pretty impressive for a guy who grew up as the son of a poor immigrant from Italy. Now comes the news that this beloved entertainers life story is headed to the stage. The show, which is based on the 2013 Emmy Award winning film Behind The Candelabra, has been in the works since 2015. As of now no creative team or cast have been announced. Stay tuned to this blog for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

On Your Feet! That's right theatre fans. It's time for this week's customer story. Earlier this week I heard from a travel agent in California who's client was coming to New York in July, and wanted to see a show while they were here. Nothing like planning in advance right?

So anyway, after finding out when they would be here, I asked her what show they wanted to see. Their choice? On Your Feet. Now I'll be honest when I first heard they were making a musical about the life and career of Gloria Estefan, I was kind of surprised.

Don't get me wrong. I love her music. I just wasn't sure how it would play on the big stage. Well as it turns out I was wrong. What a great night in the theatre. But enough about what I thought about it. Now since the show was five months away, I knew I would have no problem getting excellent seats.

Plus since the show has been playing for a while now, I also knew that I would be able to get them at a lower price. In the end I got them great Orchestra seats on an aisle, and at a rate that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Hamilton To Play Los Angeles In Summer Of 2017

It was just announced that Lin-Manuel Miranda's mega-hit show Hamilton will play a limited run at the Hollywood Pantages Theatre this summer.  Performances will begin on August 11, 2017 with tickets going on sale on April 19th.

As of now, the Los Angeles production is scheduled to run through December 30, 2017.  The show will transfer from its current home at SHN's Orpheum Theatre in San Francisco where Hamilton will run through August 5, 2017.

The Hollywood Pantages Theatre has a seating capacity of 2703, which is nearly double in size of New York's Richard Rodgers Theatre, where the production enjoys sold out capacity of 1412 plus standing room at every performance.

Right now the Hollywood Pantages Theatre is scheduled to play An American In Paris (March 22 through April 9) and The Bodyguard (May 2 through 21) prior to Hamilton setting up its home there.

Although this production of L.A.'s Hamilton is not officially on sale yet,  the team at Applause-Tickets is taking requests for the show and welcomes phone calls and inquiries to discuss the show. We love talking about Broadway Theatre and the road and national productions that tour the country and look forward to speaking with you whenever your plans include Broadway Shows, Concerts, Sporting Events and major attractions anywhere throughout the world.

Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney Star in The Little Foxes on Broadway This Spring

The Little Foxes, a terrific Lillian Hellman play, considered to be one of the great dramatic classics of the 20th century, is being revived and will play New York's Samuel J. Friedman Theatre this Spring. With preview performances beginning on March 29, 2017, this revival is sure to be one of the Broadway season's most popular plays.

Two of my favorite actresses will star in this Manhattan Theatre Club production.  They are Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney.  Ms. Nixon (Rabbit Hole, Wit) is best known for her role in Sex and the City.  She won a Tony Award for Best Actress in Rabbit Hole in 2006.  Ms. Linney (Time Stands Still, Sight Unseen) is a three-time Tony Award nominee who has played Broadway on many occasions over the years.  They both have done outstanding work on television and the big screen as well.

The Little Foxes was first performed in 1939 and tells the story of Regina Giddens and her ruthless family in 1900, and is set in a small town in Alabama.  The audience will get to witness the ongoing battle that Regina Giddens has with her sister-in-law Birdie, as they each seek control of the family business at a time when men were in charge.

Among the cast of ten extremely talented actors are Richard Thomas (The Waltons) and Michael McKeon (Laverne and Shirley).  In this revival of The Little Foxes,  Cynthia Nixon and Laura Linney will alternate roles playing Regina and Birdie.  Broadway veteran Daniel Sullivan (Proof, Rabbit Hole) will direct the play.

Right now The Little Foxes tickets can be obtained at reduced prices for all sections of the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre for just about every performance.  The show will play a very limited engagement through June 18, 2017.  Although we expect the show to receive very positive reviews from the critics, I think the reduced pricing will continue, at least for the near future.

There are many exciting Broadway Shows to see this season.  If you're interested in talking to our team of local Broadway ticket experts, we hope you'll consider a call to Applause-Tickets when you have a moment.

I sincerely hope that you enjoyed today's blog post from Applause Ticket News.  Cheers and good luck to the cast and creative team at The Little Foxes.

What To See In London

Image result for london theatre district picsHeading across the pond in the next few months? Well of course you are going to a see a show or two while you are there right? Better yet, why not see them all. Just kidding. I mean I love going to the theatre, but even I'm not that crazy. So the big question is what do you see?

Now if I was going, the show at the top of my list would be the new production of Dreamgirls starring Glee star Amber Riley. The production, which opened to rave reviews from critic's and audiences alike. opened at the Savoy Theatre in November 2016. Next on my list? Jim Steinman's Bat Out Of Hell. The show, which is based on the multi-platinum selling album, is scheduled to begin  previews at the London Coliseum on June 5, where it will play thru July 22. Here's hoping it's a hit.

But what if musicals aren't your thing? No problem. London is home to some of the world's most exciting new plays, as well as some of the finest Shakespearean productions you will ever see. In fact, there are over a half a dozen different Shakespeare plays playing within the next few months. Or maybe theatre isn't your thing. Did you know that Eric Clapton is playing at the world famous Royal Albert Hall in May? Well he is. By the way, not only do we sell tickets to every show I mentioned, but we sell tickets to every play, musical, and concert in London. Sporting events too. Who knew? So what not give us a try? You'll be glad you did.

Women On Broadway!

It’s National Women’s History Month.  See a Broadway Show!

This month on Broadway, there are so many talented and award winning actresses performing some great roles.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Patti Lupone and Christine Ebersole star in War Paint, the story about two of the most infamous beauty icons, Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden at the Nederlander Theatre.

Glenn Close takes on this iconic role, as Norma Desmond, in Sunset Boulevard, a revival by Andrew Lloyd Webber – Now through June 25, 2017 at the Palace Theatre.

Bette MilderHello Dolly!.  Need I say more?  In previews now, and opens April 20, 2017 at the Shubert Theatre.

Sara Barielles will perform her own music and star in Waitress from March 31 through June 11, 2017 at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

Laura Linney and Cynthia Nixon star in Lillian Hellman's family drama,
The Little Foxes  What’s so awesome about their performances? – They will alternate playing the roles of Regina Hubbard Giddens and Birdie Hubbard.  Previews March 29, opens April 19, 2017 and plays through June 18, 2017 at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre.

Sally Field, is now staring in the Tennessee Williams classic - The Glass Menagerie at the Belasco Theatre.

Cate Blanchett stars in The Present, a new Chekhov production at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre.

Allison Janney will star in Six Degrees of Separation at the Barrymore Theatre -Previews April 5 and opens April 25, 2017.

Bette Midler And Hello Dolly -Previews Begin Tonight on Broadway

And now for the moment so many have been witing for.  The much anticipated revival of Hello Dolly will begin preview performances tonight at New York's Shubert Theatre.  Grammy winner and Oscar nominee Bette Midler will star in Hello Dolly and tickets are on sale through Mid-January 2018.

Hello Dolly will officially open for critics reviews on April 20, 2017.  Miss Midler will be joined on stage by Tony Award winner and televison star David Hyde Pierce, Kate Baldwin (Big Fish, Finian's Rainbow, Thoroughly Modern Millie), Gavin Creel (She Loves Me, Hair), Taylor Trensch (The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Night-Time, Matilda) along with an incredibly talented company of actors as well.

Hello Dolly tickets have been selling like crazy for months now.  This Hello Dolly revival has broken all previous records for the highest pre-performance box office advance sale in the history of Broadway Theatre.  I'm sure the producers of the show are quite pleased and know the audiences are sure to get their money's worth with every ticket purchased.

Important to note are the following dates that Bette Midler ***will not be performing*** in Hello Dolly:

All Tuesday evening shows starting on June 13, 2017, as Broadway veteran and two-time Tony Award winner Donna Murphy (Passion, The King and I) will play the role of Dolly Levi as well as

June 27-July 2, 2017
July 5-9, 2017
July 30, 2017 evening performance
September 6-10, 2017
October 15, 2017 evening performance
October 30, 2017
November 1-5, 2017
November 7, 2017 evening performance
November 24, 2017 matinee performance

I'm sure Donna Murphy will turn in a stellar performance as well as she's a really tremendous Broadway professional.  In fact, much better seating and considerably lower prices for performances when Donna Murphy performs are available for those people who want to see a classic Broadway show, but save money at the same time.

Right now the local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets have access to thousands of Hello Dolly tickets whenever you have a chance to call us at 212-307-7050 or 800-451-9930.

Cheers and best wishes to the cast and creative team at Broadway's Hello Dolly.

Cast Recording Of Hamilton

HamiltonWhat's that you say? Another article on Hamilton? What can I say? I give the people what they want. The show, which continues to play to packed houses eight times a week at the Richard Rodgers Theatre, recently celebrated another milestone.

The musicals cast recording, which to date has sold over three million copies, has officially achieved Triple Platinum status. The album, which was released in September 2015, debuted on the Billboard 200 at No. 12, before eventually peaking at No. 3. That my friends is one impressive feat.

In fact, only four musicals in the last fifty years have earned a spot on Billboard's 200 Top Ten. Making history along side Hamilton are The Book of Mormon, Hair, and this season's hottest new show, Dear Evan Hansen. Here's hoping more musicals will soon have their name in the history book as well. Until next time theatre fans.

Within hours of this terrible tragedy, thirty-eight planes, carrying a total of 6,579 passengers are left stranded, turning this remote little village upside down. So what did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.

Allison Janney Stars In Six Degrees Of Seperation On Broadway- Previews Begin April 5, 2017

In a few weeks, Allison Janney, one of my favorite actresses, will co-star in the revival of the very funny comedy Six Degrees Of Separation.  Preview performances will start on April 5, 2017 at New York's Barrymore Theatre in midtown with opening night scheduled for April 25, 2017.  The show will be eligible for Tony Award nominations in the BEST REVIVAL OF A PLAY category as well as several others.

Six Degrees Of Separation  was the winner of the 1991 New York Drama Critic's Circle Award as well as having won London's 1993 Olivier Award in the BEST NEW PLAY category.  It was also nominated for a Tony Award in 1991.  In addition, the show was a finalist for the Pulitzer Prize in 1991, in the drama category.

Six Degrees Of Separation was inspired by a true story.  The show tells the very interesting story of a mysterious young con artist who somehow manages to get involved with a well to do New York couple and their daily lives.  His claim is that he is the son of actor Sidney Poitier.  Soon thereafter, the couple begin to sort through events and connections that were responsible for bringing the young man into their lives.

Joining Ms. Janney on the stage in this version of Six Degrees Of Separation will be John Benjamin Hickey.  Mr. Hickey won the Tony Award for BEST ACTOR in The Normal Heart some years ago and also appeared on Broadway in Cabaret, The Crucible, Mary Stuart and Love! Valour! Compassion!  He was nominated for an Emmy Award for his role in The Big C and also had roles in Manhattan and Pitch Perfect.  Corey Hawkins was recently seen in the film Straight Outta Compton. Other credits include The Walking Dead, Non-Stop, Kong: Skull Island and the popular show 24:Legacy.  He originally made is Broadway debut playing the role of Tybalt in Romeo and Juliet.

Allison Janney has many acting accolades which include a long run in the incredibly popular television series The West Wing.  Other credits include Masters Of Sex and most recently appearing in Mom.  Her Broadway credits include 9 To 5 and A View From The Bridge.  Although she has been featured in many films, standout roles were in American Beauty, Hairspray and Juno.

This terrific cast will star in Six Degrees Of Separation for a limited 15 week engagement only.  Right now, the Applause-Ticket experts can assist you in obtaining Six Degrees Of Separation tickets at reduced prices.  The theatre is on the smaller size so just about every seat allows for a good view of the action that takes place on stage.  And there is a seat and price for everyone's budget.

Bandstand To Play Broadway's Jacobs Theatre- Previews Begin March 31-2017

A new show called Bandstand could very well be one of this season's sleeper type hit shows if it gets positive reviews. And if you have had a chance to see the wonderful choreography work of Andy Blankenbuehler, the 2016 Tony Award winner for choreography in the mega-hit show Hamilton, then you can look forward to seeing his thrilling dance routines in Broadway's new musical called Bandstand.  Mr. Blankenbuehler is also well known for his choreographer work in,  In The Heights, Bring It On, 9 To 5, Cats and several other shows as well. It's a special treat each time he is involved with a Broadway Theatre production.

Bandstand is a new musical that takes us back in time to 1945.  America's sons have just returned from the war.  Bandstand tells us the unique story of a singer, songwriter by the name of Donny Novitski and his group of returning war veterans.  When Donny hears about a national contest to find the country's next musical sensation, Donny and his gang of mismatched bandmates work effortlessly to get themselves into competition shape.  They long for the chance at winning the opportunity of the glamour and glitz that a career in Hollywood could possibly bring to them.  The group teams up with a young, gorgeous war widow at a time when it seems like the world has forgotten them.

Bandstand is a high energy song and dance musical that has incredible musical talent in its cast.  The costumes are terrific as well.

Laura Osnes will star in Bandstand.  Ms. Osnes has numerous acting credits both in the theater, television and on the big screen.  She's a Broadway mainstay and has been seen in Cinderella, Bonnie and Clyde, Anything Goes, Grease and others as well.  The Book, Music and Lyrics for Bandstand were written by Richard Oberacker who currently conducts Cirque Du Soleil's hit show "KA" in Las Vegas and he also has worked with the national tours of The Lion King, Show Boat, and several others as well.  His next project could very well be his greatest achievement in the theater as he is writing the score for The Great Gatsby, which will open in Japan this year.  Robert Taylor is credited with handling the Book and Lyrics of Bandstand as well.

Bandstand will begin preview performances on March 31, 2017 prior to opening night critic reviews on April 26, 2017.  This will allow Bandstand to become eligible to be nominated for Tony Awards in 2017.  The show will play at New York's Jacobs Theatre, which will be quite an intimate place seeing as this theater is one of the smaller musical venues in the city.

Right now, Bandstand tickets on Broadway are offering discounted tickets through May 28, 2017.  If you or someone you know is interested in obtaining Bandstand discount tickets at New York's Jacobs Theatre, we hope you'll consider a call to the local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets.  We are open 24/7, 365 days a year and would love to help you obtain Bandstand tickets or any of the other exciting Broadway shows playing.

Cheers and good luck to the cast and creative team at Bandstand on Broadway.

Charlie And The Chocolate Factory On Broadway-Previews Start March 28-2017

If you have had the good fortune to see Matilda The Musical (played nearly 4 years on Broadway, won several Tony Awards in 2013 and closed on January 1-2017 after 1555 performances), then you're in for a special treat.  The producers of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory are bringing their recent London stage hit musical to play at NYC's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre this Spring.  Previews begin on March 28, 2017 prior to an official opening that will take place on April 23, 2017.  This will allow the show to be eligible for Tony Awards nominations for the 2017 Broadway season.

Famous British novelist Roald Dahl, who is known as a great screenwriter, short story writer, novelist and poet, who wrote this incredibly magical story about a young boy by the name of Charlie, who comes from impoverished means but who is one of 5 contest winners who gets to be led on a tour by Willy Wonka of his famous chocolate factory.  The most famous in the world.

Mr. Dahl is known for bringing Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, James and the Giant Peach, Matilda, Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, You Only Live Twice (the 5th James Bond film which starred Sean Connery) and so many others to the big screen.  Although Mr. Dahl died many years ago, his legacy lives on.  Ten percent of all of Roald Dahls income goes to their charity partners which include the Roald Dahl Marvellous Children's Charity and the Roald Dahl Museum and Story Centre.  They support many great causes which help provide specialist children's nurses as well as providing for special grants for needy families and educational programs.  It's no surprise that his books are being turned into London and Broadway blockbuster musicals.  I saw Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and a year and a half ago in London and enjoyed the show immensely.  It will appeal to youngsters as well as their parents and even be enjoyed by older people as well.  After all, I was 59 years old when I saw this excellent show.

Broadway star Christian Borle, a two-time Tony Award winner for his roles in Peter and the Starcatcher and Something Rotten!, will play the role of Willy Wonka.  Mr. Borle will be wonderful in this role as he is a tremendous acting talent.

World famous songs which include "The Candy Man" (a big hit recorded by Sammy Davis) when I was a youngster and "Pure Imagination" and many other terrific songs written by Marc Shaiman and Scott Wittman (Hairspray) with a book written by playwright David Greig, choreography by Emmy Award winner Joshua Bergasse and direction by the incomparable Jack O'Brien, three-time Tony Award winner (Hairspray, Henry IV, The Coast of Utopia) will make this show shine.  This creative team is sure to help make Charlie and the Chocolate Factory a longterm success on Broadway.

If you or anyone you know is interested in talking about the show or is interested in obtaining Charlie and the Chocolate Factory tickets, kindly consider a phone call to the local ticket experts at Applause-Tickets.  We are open 24/7, 365 days a year and love talking about the theatre.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post today.  Cheers and good luck to the cast and creative team of Charlie and the Factory, which will begin its Broadway run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in New York's theatre district on March 28-2017.

Paramour
Still haven't seen Cirque du Soleil Paramour yet? Well what are you waiting for people? The show, which believe it or not, was the first Cirque du Soleil show on Broadway, will play it's final performance at the Lyric Theatre on April 15. Now the truth is, I have never seen a Cirque du Soleil show.

Well until recently that is. A few weeks ago I was given the opportunity to see the show. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect. Cut to two and half hours later and I was so happy that I saw it. By the way, for those of you who still haven't seen the show there is still time.

Plus if you call right now we can get you tickets to see it at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru March 26, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Customer Story

WaitressThis week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Georgia. Atlanta to be exact. Now like a lot of my customer stories, this is not about a new customer. In fact this customer has been ordering tickets from us for over seven years. In fact every time he calls he always asks for me. So anyway after catching up, I asked him what show he wanted to see?

Well as it turns out he couldn't decide. His two choices were School of Rock and Waitress. Two great shows in my opinion, but very different. Having seen both of them I told him that he would enjoy either one of them. In the end he chose Waitress. Plus I got him excellent seats in the center Front Mezzanine. Not only that, but I got them for a price that was lower than he was expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Bette Midler Stars In Hello Dolly at New York's Shubert Theatre-Previews Begin March 15-2017

For the past year and a half or so, the most popular show on Broadway has been Hamilton.  The show is still a sellout for every performance in New York as well as in Chicago.  In all my 39 years selling tickets for Broadway Shows in New York and London, Chicago, Toronto and all around the world, I'm not sure if I will ever see another show like it that will command the very high prices that Hamilton does.  Or is it possible that the revival of Hello Dolly, starting in a little less than 2 weeks, will surpass ticket sales as well as box office receipts?  We shall see.

Still, every day in the theatre is somewhat different than the day before.  We are, as a society, very caught up in the "celebrity culture".  That brings me to my next point.  Which is the Devine Miss M, Bette Midler of course.  She is selling tickets like "hotcakes" since last September 2016.

Bette Midler will bring her incredible talent to the Shubert Theatre and play the starring role of Dolly Gallagher Levi in the revival of Hello Dolly.  Hello Dolly starts preview performances on March 15 prior to opening night critics reviews on April 20-2017.

First day sales were $9 million dollars or so and the current estimate for advance sales are in the neighborhood of $30 million dollars as of this writing.  Can you imagine that?

Hello Dolly was originally a Thornton Wilder Stage play written in 1954 called "The MatchMaker".
Hello Dolly was then made into a romantic musical comedy, which was first produced by David Merrick in 1964.  Mr. Merrick was one of Broadway's biggest producers.  The show won 10 Tony Awards including Best Musical which was a record held for 37 years until The Producers surpassed it.  It starred Carol Channing.  The show went on to become a film which starred Barbara Streisand,

Bette Midler will be joined on stage by a fantastic group of actors.  David Hyde Pierce plays the role of Horace Vandergelder.  Bette Midler plays the role of Dolly Gallagher Levi, who makes a living being a "matchmaker" amongst other sideline activities.  The show take splace in New York City in 1890.  As you sit in the audience, you'll see that New Yorkers are all excited that the widowed yet "brassy" Dolly Levi came to town with the goal of finding a wife for the "grumpy" Horace Vandergelder. Complications set in when Dolly soon decides that she wants Horace all to herself.  How about that for fun?

Hello Dolly's book was written by Michael Stewart with music and lyrics by Jerry Herman and direction by Broadway veteran Jerry Zaks.  Choreography is by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle.  My understanding is that Mr. Carlyle pays tribute to the late, great Broadway choreographer Gower Champion and Mr. Champions original dance routines in the original show.

Bette Midler has recently turned 71 years old and I'm sure she'll put on the performance of her life every time she goes out on the stage.  Still, I found out that Hello Dolly will have veteran Broadway actress Donna Murphy play the role of Dolly Levi one day a week beginning on June 13-2017. On Tuesday evenings.  Miss Murphy, who turns 58 years old on March 7-2017, will fill in for Bette Midler's vacation and personal time away from the show.  My guess is that Donna Murphy will take over if Bette Midler decides to leave the show at some point and play 7 or 8 performances a week.  I do notice that many performances for Bette Midler are sold out through the summer of 2017 but performances when Ms. Murphy is playing seem to be readily available.

Which brings me back to where I started in this post.  We have become a celebrity culture indeed. Everyone wants to see the show when Bette Midler stars in it.  Although I plan on seeing the show with Ms. Midler in it, I intend on seeing it with Ms. Murphy as well.  I'm sure they'll both be fantastic playing the same role.

Although many of Ms. Midler's performances are sold out already, you might want to consider contacting our ticket experts at my company, Applause-Tickets.  Applause-Tickets has access to an extensive inventory of Hello Dolly tickets when Ms. Midler appears.

Applause-Tickets can be reached at 212-307-7050 and we are open 24/7.  We'd love to help you.

I hope you enjoyed my blog post on Hello Dolly on Broadway in 2017.
