Broadway Grosses: Week Ending January 29, 2012

That's right theatre fans. It's that time again. Now to be honest this is my first blog this year on this subject. Not that the grosses aren't newsworthy. It's just that with January being one of Broadway's slowest months there really hasn't been much to report. The good news is that between now and the end of April there are a total of sixteen new plays and musicals scheduled to open on the Great White Way. Now that is something to be excited about. That's actually down from last year when there were twenty-one. I guess you can blame the economy for that. or maybe it's just because the quality of shows has decreased. Here's a thought. Maybe someone would come up with something original as opposed to a musical based on a hit movie from twenty years ago. The Book of Mormon is the hottest show to hit Broadway in over a decade so what does that tell you? I rest my case. Anyway time for me to get off my soap box and get to the reason for today's blog. On to the grosses.
