Broadway Smash To Kill A Mockingbird Headed To The West End

To Kill A MockingbirdNow that's how you start a rainy Halloween theatre fans. It was just announced, that Broadway's highest grossing play of all time, is crossing the pond next year. To Kill A Mockingbird, which began previews on Broadway on November 1, 2018, is set to make it's West End debut in Spring 2020.

Adapted by Academy and Emmy Award winner Aaron Sorkin, and directed by Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher, To Kill A Mockingbird is based on Harper Lee's beloved 1960 Pulitzer Prize winning novel. Tickets for the Broadway production have been selling like hotcakes ever since the show went on sale.

I have no doubt the London production will be just as successful. Now for those of you who still haven't seen the Broadway production, you are in luck. We sell it. Be advised the Emmy Award winner and Tony Award nominee Jeff Daniels will play his final performance this Sunday.

The good news is that Academy Award and Emmy Award nominee Ed Harris is replacing him. He is one of my favorite actor's, so I have no doubt he will be fantastic. Get your tickets to see To Kill A Mockingbird on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre, and in 2020 at the Gielgud Theatre in London. Until next time theatre fans.

Wicked Celebrates Sixteen Years On The Great White Way

WickedHas it really been sixteen years since Wicked opened on Broadway? I remember seeing the show a few weeks after it's first preview, and even though I loved it, I never thought I would still be writing about it all these years later. After all, it's one of the largest theatre's on Broadway at over nineteen hundred seats, and yet it continues to sell out each and every performance.

Not too mention, it didn't exactly get the greatest reviews when it opened. Oh well. The critic's can't always be right. The show, which celebrates it's sixteenth anniversary today, also became the fifth longest running show on Broadway on October 28, surpassing Les Miserables.

Oh and just think, it only has eight hundred and four performances until it knocks Cat's out of fourth place.Somehow I think it might just do it. Now for those of you who want tickets to see Wicked on Broadway, you have come to the right place. We sell it. In fact, we also sell tickets to the London production, as well as it's National Tour. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Wicked on Broadway at the Gershwin Theatre, or at at city near you. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Thanksgiving Schedule

Image result for animated turkey logoNow I don't know about you, but Thanksgiving has always been my favorite holiday. I mean let's face it. There is nothing better than sitting around the table with friends or loved ones, while you devour turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, and of course my personal favorite. Pumpkin Pie.

Oh and of course, you can't forget about the greatest parade in the world. That's right. I am talking about the one and only Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Now as much as I love all of those things, I also love going to the theatre. Plus as you know, New York is the theatre capitol of the world. Translation? Why not see a show why you are here?

Better yet, why not see two? Now because of the holiday, the schedule is a little different than usual. In fact, only six shows are actually performing on Thanksgiving. They are Chicago, American Utopia, Jagged Little Pill, The Lighting Thief, The Phantom of the Opera. Waitress, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Quite the selection right? Posted below is the rest of the schedule beginning on November 25 thru December 1. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Mrs. Doubtfire Musical Headed to Broadway In 2020

Image result for mrs doubtfire musical logoOne of my favorite shows from this decade was Something Rotten, which in case you didn't see it, was one of the funniest shows to hit Broadway in years. Set in 1595, Something Rotten, told the story of the Bottom Brothers, who struggle to find success in the theatre world due to their main competition. One William Shakespeare.

Now I know what you're thinking. What in the world does this have to do with Mrs. Doubtfire? Well I'll tell you.The shows authors, Wayne and Karey Kirkpatrick, and John O'Farrell, are the same writers of Something Rotten. Now do you see why I'm so excited? The show, which is based on 1993 Robin William's film of the same name, is set to begin previews at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on March 9, with opening night scheduled for April 5. Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks, and choreographed by Lorin Lattaro, Mrs. Doubtfire, will have it's world premier at Seattle's 5th Avenue Theatre beginning on November 26, with opening night set for December 13.

Starring in the title role is Tony Award nominee Rob McClure (Beetlejuice, Honeymoon In Vegas). Joining him are Jenn Gambatese as Miranda Hillard, Tony Award nominee Brad Oscar as Frank Hillard, Analise Scarpaci as Lydia Hillard, Jake Ryan Flynn as Christopher Hillard, Avery Sellas as Natalie Hillard, J. Harrison Ghee as Andre, Mark Evans as Stuart Dunmeyer, Charity Angel Dawson as Wanda Sellner, and Peter Bartlett as Mr. Jolly.

Now I'll be honest. I have never seen the film. Don't get me wrong. I am a huge Robin Williams fan. Although if I'm being honest, I have always preferred his more dramatic work like "The World According To Garp", "Dead Poet's Society", and of course his Academy Award performance in "Good Will Hunting". But like I said, " Something Rotten was one of my favorite shows of the last decade.".Here's hoping their new one is just as good. Fingers crossed.

Tickets for the Seattle engagement are now on sell. The Broadway run, is scheduled to go on sale on November 1. Oh and did I mention that we will be selling tickets for both? Well we will. In fact, we are selling tickets to every new play and musical set to open this season. Get your tickets to see Mrs. Doubtfire on Broadway at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre, and at the 5th Avenue Theatre in Seattle. Until next time theatre fans.

Sister Act Starring Whoopi Goldberg And Jennifer Saunders To Return To London In 2020

Image result for sister act musical logoNow that's what I call exciting news theatre fans. It was recently announced, that original Sister Act star Whoopi Golberg, will reprise her role as Deloris Van Cartier. Only this time, it's not for the big screen. This time, it's for the celebrated musical of the same name.

The show, which opened in the West End in 2009, prior to it's 2011 Broadway debut, will launch it's U.K. tour on April 21, 2020, and will star The X-Factor semi-finalist Brenda Edwards in the lead role. Now I know what you're thinking. Didn't I just say that the one and only Whoopi Goldberg would be playing the role? Yes I did.

However she is playing the role for a limited engagement at the Eventim Apollo beginning on July 29, 2020 thru August 30. In this version, the role of Deloris will be written as an older woman, as opposed to a twenty-something version of the character. And Jennifer Saunders? She is playing the role of Mother Superior, which by the way is the role that Ms. Goldberg played in the 2010 production at the London Palladium. By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see Sister Act, you are in luck. We sell it. In fact, we sell tickets to every show in the West End. Get your tickets to see Sister Act in London. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Image result for tottenham spurs logoToday's customer story comes all the way from the great state of North Carolina. Raleigh to be exact. A couple of days ago, I received a call from one of my long time customers. Her client was planning a trip to London in December, and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were there. I take that back. It was one show, and one sporting event.

Let me guess. You thought we only sold theatre in London right? Well we don't. In fact, we sell every show and event in London. Well everything except Hamilton. Anyway after finding out when they would be there, I asked her what her client wanted to see.

Her choices were The Book of Mormon, and Chelsea vs. Tottenham. That's soccer for those of you who are wondering. Don't feel bad. I didn't know what it was either. Now because The Book of Mormon has been playing there for a number of years, I told her it shouldn't be a problem getting her good seats.

The soccer tickets? I knew I could get them. I just wasn't sure how much they would cost. In the end, they ended up not being as expensive as I thought. Plus I got them great seats. Same for The Book of Mormon. So there you have it folks. Two great events, with great prices and seats to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Darren Criss To Star Alongside Laurence Fishburne And Sam Rockwell In Broadway Revival Of American Buffalo

Image result for american buffalo play logoExciting news theatre fans. One of Broadway's most popular stars is headed back to the Great White Way. Emmy Award winner Darren Criss, who was last seen on Broadway in Hedwig and the Angry Inch, is set to star in David Mamet's American Buffalo. The show, which also stars Tony Award winner Laurence Fishburn and Academy Award winner Sam Rockwell, will begin previews at the Circle in the Theatre on March 24, 2020, with opening night scheduled for April 14.

Set over the period of one day at a run down junk shop in Chicago, American Buffalo, tells the story of Donny (Laurence Fishburn), the owner of the junk shop, who has recently sold a buffalo nickle to a customer for ninety dollars. Of course the only problem is that the coin might be worth a lot more. So what does he do? He cons his young naive employee Bobby ( Darren Criss), and his poker Buddy Teach (Sam Rockwell) into helping him get it back. An on sale ticket date for the show has yet to be announced. Be sure to check this website for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.

The Who's Tommy To Return To Broadway In 2021

Tommy-poster.pngNow that's what I call exciting news theatre fans. One of my biggest regrets, well when it comes to the Broadway theatre, is that I never got around to seeing The Who's Tommy during it's New York City run in the mid 1990's. Well thankfully, that is about to change. Well at least not for another year and a half or so.

The show, which is based on the original rock concept album, is scheduled to open sometime in 2021. Interesting enough, yesterday's announcement coincides with the albums 50th anniversary. Has it really been fifty years? Man do I feel old. It was also announced, that the shows original director, two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff (Ain't Too Proud, Jersey Boys) will helm the new revival.

Now not only was the show one of the most critically acclaimed shows of the season, but it also helped launch the careers of future Tony Award winners Michael Cerveris, Alice Ripley, and Christian Hoff, but also Tony Award nominees Norm Lewis, Michael McElroy, and Sherrie Renee Scott. I wonder what future stars this new production will bring? We will soon find out. The theatre, as well as the dates of the show have yet to be announced. Be sure to check our website for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.

Little Shop Of Horrors Reviews

little shop of horrors jonathan groffThat's right theatre fans. It's that time again. Time to celebrate another show opening in NYC. Only this time, it's not a Broadway show. Although with the folks involved, it sure feels like one. Last night, Little Shop of Horrors opened Off-Broadway at the Westside Arts Theatre.

The theatre, which only holds two hundred and seventy seats, is only blocks away from the Broadway district, where the show made it's Broadway debut in 2003 at the August Wilson Theatre. That production starred Hunter Foster and Kerry Butler.

Directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, Hedwig and the Angry Inch), and featuring music by Tony and Academy Award winner, and book and lyrics by Academy Award winner Howard Ashman, Little Shop of Horrors stars Tony Award nominee's Jonathan Groff and Tammy Blanchard as co-workers Seymour and Audrey, and two-time Tony Award winner Christian Borle as Orin. Starring along side the trio are Tom Alan Robbins, Kingsley Leggs, Ari Groover, Salome Smith, Joy Woods, Stephen Berger, Chris Dwan, Kris Roberts, Chelsea Turbin, Eric Wright, and Teddy Youdain. So what did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.

Now that is what I call some great reviews. Tickets for the limited production have been flying out the door ever since they went on sale. Now that doesn't mean you can't get tickets. It just means you may have to spend a little more to get them. Also be advised, tickets are only on sale thru January 19,2020. Here's hoping the show extends. Fingers crossed. Get your tickets to see Little Shop of Horrors Off-Broadway at the Westside Arts Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
