Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the Lone Star State. Dallas to be exact. Now I myself have never been to Texas. In fact the only time I ever leave New York City is to visit my parent's in Illinois. Other than that I pretty much stay put. So anyway last week I received a call from a regular customer of mine who was looking to bring the whole family into New York and was wanted to take in a couple of show while they were here.I asked her what she wanted to see and she was hoping to get tickets to see Once and Nice Work If You Can Get It but was worried that they might be difficult to get since both were nominated for several Tony Awards.

I reassured that even though both shows were very popular I should still be able to get her seats and maybe at an "Insider Price". For those of you that may not be familiar with that term it basically means that we have access to seats that are lower than what you could get them for at the box office. Sounds like one heck of a deal right? So after finding out how many tickets she wanted and the dates they were here I went to work on getting her the best deal. Since she wasn't coming during a hectic time of the year I was able to get her great seats for both shows and at a price that was lower than we were both expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

What? Two customer stories in two days? Have I really run out of ideas to blog about? No. It's just that we have some great customers and I feel like telling you about them. This past Saturday I got a call from a travel agent in Indiana whose client was looking for tickets to a baseball game for next week. Of course the first thing that popped into my mind was the Yankees or the Mets.Makes sense right? Well as it turns out the client wanted tickets to see the St. Louis Cardinals. Yes believe it or not but we do sell tickets for other cities besides New York. Anyway after a little research I found him two excellent seats behind second base. Not only that but at a price that was lower than he had seen anywhere else. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Now Is The Best Time To See Wicked On Broadway

Now in it's eight year on Broadway is Wicked. The show which continues to break box office records around the world remains Broadway's highest grossing show week after week. Most people forget that the show got mixed reviews when it first opened back in October 2003. Take that critics. Now while I enjoyed the show when I saw it I didn't think I could ever have expected it to continue to do so well all these years later. Plus the fact that the show is currently in Broadway's second largest theatre makes it even that more of a success story. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen the show there is no better time than right now. Good seats are available for all performances. Now for those of you who can't make it to the Big Apple to see the show don't worry. Wicked is playing at theatres all over the world. Going over to London and want to see Wicked? No problem. How about Baltimore or Honolulu? We sell that too. Get your tickets to see Wicked on Broadway or at a theatre near you. You will love it.

Customer Story

This morning I got a phone call from a customer who had just received her tickets and was wondering why the price printed on the ticket was less than what she was charged. I asked for her last name so I could look up her order. I saw that she had ordered tickets for The Book of Mormon which is not only one of our biggest sellers but she had purchased it for the day after Thanksgiving which is one if not the busiest weekends in the city. I explained to her that while we do have a mark up on the tickets she was paying a little more to get better seats and at a price that is lower than she would probably find anywhere else. She said that she had seen other seats on another website that sold them for a little less but that she had called us because she knew she could speak to a live person. After talking to me she felt better and said that she would definitely use us again in the future. Another satisfied customer at Applause.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

American mystic Joseph Campbell said, "Follow your bliss." As I sit here at my computer I am finding out how true that statement is. I came to this city to pursue my dream of working in the theatre. Now some 20 years later I feel that I am on the verge of finally making those dreams come true. Sure there have been ups and downs over the years. Nobody ever said it was going to be easy. But through it all I have been lucky enough to remain steadily employed until my big break arrives. Since 2004 I have been working at Applause Theatre Service as a ticket broker. Just like theatre it too has its ups and downs. September 11 almost destroyed the industry. Now over ten years later the economy is in the worst shape it has been in a very long time, and yet the phones keep ringing day in and day out. In the worst of times we need theatre to put a smile on our face. Isn't that what it's all about?

Why You Should Order From Applause Theatre Service

Did you know that Applause has been in business since 1987? To be honest when I submitted my application for employment eight years ago I had never heard of the company. Prior to working here I had worked at a Broadway box office and as a manger at one of our major competitors.

Well after about a week or two into my employment I soon discovered that not only was Applause one of the top ticket agents in the city but the entire country. Who knew? Now when I first started here not only did we sell tickets to all events in New York, London, and Nationwide but we also sold hotel packages and dinner vouchers.

As the years passed we eventually stopped selling hotels as it was just no longer profitable and now instead of selling dinners we now offer recommendations. Being native New Yorkers we not only know the restaurants with the best food but also at the best prices as well.

A few years ago we started a new program called "Broadway Ticket Deals" or as we call it "Buying Tickets For Less." Being in New York in the theatre district we have access to lower prices for over twenty shows that are now available to you the theatre going public.

So that's Applause. A small company started twenty five years ago by two guys who wanted to give people another another alternative when it comes to buying tickets. Sure we may not be the biggest or the flashiest company around but I can guarantee you that nobody will take better care of you then Applause. Don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all your ticket needs. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did.

Get Tickets To Broadway's Longest Running Show The Phantom Of The Opera For Less This Summer

Still haven't seen The Phantom of the Opera yet? I mean come on it's not like it hasn't been playing at theatres around the world for over twenty-six years. My first exposure to the show was in high school when I heard the cast recording. Now growing up in the Midwest the only theatre I was exposed to were either the shows that I was in or from seeing shows at the local community theatre. From the opening number I was hooked. I had never heard anything like that in my life.

I swear I must have listened to that recording every day during my junior year. Looking back on it now I would have to say that while it does have some beautiful songs it is not quite the masterpiece I made it out to be when I was younger. Having seen over a hundred different musicals over the years I would probably not rank Phantom as high as what it once was. Now that doesn't mean I didn't like it when I saw it all those years ago. It's just that my tastes have changed over the years.

Now enough about me and my thoughts on the show. You came here to find out how to get inexpensive tickets for the show. So let's get right to it. From now thru September 1, 2012 you can get tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera on Broadway for less than it's ever been. Sounds good doesn't it? Please note that this "Special Offer" is not good for Saturday evening performances and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera. It is Broadway's longest running show after all.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from New York City. Yes believe it or not but regular New Yorkers use us too. This past Thursday I received a call from one of our regular customers. Now even though she lives in the city and could get the tickets on her own she chooses to use us do to our exceptional customer service. Nothing like tooting our own horn right? If we don't who will right? Anyway back to the blog. After finding out when she wanted to go I asked her what shows she wanted to see. The shows were Jersey Boys and The Lion King. Also since the tickets were for a gift she wanted to make sure that I got the best seats possible. I told her that wouldn't be a problem as not only was she booking three months in advance but also for two shows while popular had been playing for a number of years. Anyway after a little research I was able to find excellent seats in the Center Front Mezzanine for both shows. Which by the way is the best view. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Well it's Monday and you know what that means. It's time to take a look at last week's grosses. Now you would think that with the Tony nominations last week a few shows would see a bump at the box office. To be honest everything pretty much stayed the same. However there were two casualties as Seminar closed yesterday and Magic/Bird is closing this Sunday. Both of which failed to receive any nominations. Unfortunately I am afraid that they will not be the only ones. We shall see. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Pennsylvania. Bedford to be exact. This past Friday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a last minute trip into the city with her two daughter's  and wanted to see a few shows while they were here. I asked her what they wanted to see and her first choice was the revival of Harvey starring Jim Parsons which by the way I am dying to see as he stars on one of my favorite television shows. (The Big Bang Theory). I told her that since it was the first week of previews tickets would probably be scarce. Luckily after a little research I was able to secure her three seats in the Center Orchestra. One show down. Two to go. Her next choice was Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark which while not a favorite of mine is still selling very well at the box office. Plus since the show has been playing a while I was able to get her some nice seats in the Orchestra for less than our normal retail rate. Two down. One to go. Her third and final choice was an event at Carnegie Hall. Yes believe it or not but we do sell other things besides Broadway. Once again I was able to get her excellent seats for less. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Illinois. Northbrook to be exact. Now you would think that growing up in Illionis I would have heard of it. Well you would be wrong. Last week I received a call who was planning a trip to London next month and wanted tickets to see  a show while she was there. I asked her what she wanted to see and she asked if I had any suggestions. I told her that the most popular show in London right now is Matilda which recently won seven Olivier Awards including Best Musical of the Year. Which by the way is expected to open on Broadway in Spring 2013. Anyway back to my blog. After a little research she called me and decided to take a chance on Matilda. The only problem was I was sure it was going to be sold out. Luckily I was able to find her some excellent seats in the center stalls (Orchestra) and for a price that was lower than she was expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

My Thoughts On The 2012 Tony Nominations

Well as you all know this year's Tony nominations were announced yesterday and to say there were a few surprises would be an understatement. Now while Once, Newsies, and Nice Work Of You Can Get It were expected to receive the nomination for Best Musical the fourth and final slot was up for grabs. While I enjoyed both Ghost or Bonnie and Clyde I myself was pulling for Leap of Faith. Yes I know the reviews were not the greatest but I loved it. Well to no one elses surprise but me Leap of Faith was nominated for Best Musical of the Year. Now do I think it has a snowball's chance of winning? No I don't. Everybody knows that at the end the day it is between Newsies and Once. I guess we will find out on June 10. Now on to the rest of this year's nominations. Enjoy!
