Off- Broadway Production Of Stomp Celebrates Anniversary

StompHas it really been twenty- five years since Stomp took New York City by storm? Time sure does fly doesn't it? The show, which first premiered at the Bloomsbury Theatre in London in 1991, opened at the Orpheum Theatre on February 27, 1994. Pretty impressive for a show that features a bunch of actors banging on trash cans for ninety minutes.

O.K., I know it's a whole lot more than that. After all, it wouldn't have lasted as long as it has if it wasn't good. Trust me my friends. It is one the most innovative and creative shows that you will ever see. Plus, it's the perfect show for the whole family. Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show yet, here is a little info about the show to tell you more.

Matchboxes, brooms, garbage cans, Zippo lighters and more fill the stage with energizing beats at STOMP, the inventive and invigorating stage show that's dance, music and theatrical performance blended together in one electrifying rhythm. Stomp has been an answer on Jeopardy!, nominated for an Academy Award, won two Emmy Awards for the HBO special Stomp Out Loud, and jammed with everyone from Quincy Jones to Big Bird.

Now do you want to see it? Of course you do. Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that are lower than ever. Not only that, but because the theatre is so small, there is literally not a bad seat in the house. Get your tickets to see Stomp Off- Broadway at the Orpheum Theatre. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Kiss Me, KateToday's customer story comes all the way from the "Buckeye State". That's right. I am talking about the great state of Ohio. Yesterday, I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York in May, and wanted to see a show or two while they were here.

Their first choice is one of Broadway's most beloved musical's of all time. I am of course talking about none other than My Fair Lady. Good choice don't you think? Their second choice was another classic musical. Care to guess which one?

O.K., I'll give you a hint. It was the first show to win the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year. Give up? Why it's none other than Kiss Me Kate. Now for both shows, I suggested Front Mezzanine, as both theatres are not very big, and both mezzanines overhang very close to the stage.

Thankfully they agreed, and I got them excellent seats in the Center Front Mezzanine for both. Not only that, but I got them for a lower rate then they were expecting. Plus since I got them for such a great price, they decided to book another show. Beautiful: The Carole King Musical. So there you have it folks. Three great shows, with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

New Musical Be More Chill To Begin Previews Tonight On Broadway

Be More ChillThat's right theatre fans. One of this season's most highly anticipated new shows, is finally here. Be More Chill, which first premiered at the Two River Theatre in New Jersey in May 2015, is scheduled to open at the Lyceum Theatre on March 10. Based on the Ned Vizzini novel, Be More Chill features music and lyrics by Joe Iconis, and a book by Joe Tracz.

Now I usually keep up on all the new shows. However to be honest, I really didn't know a whole lot about the show when it was first announced. Thank goodness for the internet. Now besides it's most recent Off-Broadway success, the show became the most second talked about album on Tumbler. Hamilton was number one in case you were asking.

Not too mention it has been streamed by over one hundred million people on Spotify. Pretty impressive stats I have to say. Now will that transfer into ticket sales? We will soon find out. By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see the show, you are in luck. We sell it. In fact, we sell every new play and musical this season. Get your tickets to see Be More Chill on Broadway at the Lyceum Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Jagged Little Pill Headed To Broadway This Fall

Image result for jagged little pill musical picsOne of my favorite albums of 1995, was Alanis Morissette's Jagged Little Pill. In fact, I dare say that I listened to that cassette tape over and over again on a weekly basis. Yes that's right. I said cassette. Not a cd. Not my iPad. A cassette tape.

Yes I know that probably ages me. Oh well. The musical, which premiered last Summer at the American Repertory Theatre, features a book by Academy Award winner Diablo Cody (Juno), and direction by Tony Award winner Diana Paulus (Pippin, Waitress).

So what is the show all about? Well, according to a BuzzFeed article on the Cambridge production, "Jagged Little Pill features a woman, Mary Jane Healy, in a sexless marriage and secretly addicted to painkillers. Her daughter, Frankie, is adopted and Black and has to deal with her mother’s “colorblind” world view. Frankie also explores her queerness with her genderqueer best friend, Jo. The show also features a plot about Mary Jane’s son, Nick, whose best friend is accused of raping one of Frankie’s best friends."

Well that's certainly different. Will it be for everybody? Who knows? Let's just say that Disney doesn't haven't anything to worry about. The thing it has going for it, well besides amazing music, is that it is an original story. For that alone it has a leg up on other shows. Here's hoping it's a hit. As of now, no theatre or performance dates have been announced. Be sure to check this website for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.
