What To See In 2014:Part One

Hard to believe but 2013 is just about over. Seems like only yesterday that I was celebrating the end of 2012 and here we are about to start a brand new year. Time sure does fly my friends. Especially in the big bad city. So as we get ready to embark on 2014 I figured it was time to showcase all the brand new shows set to open on the Great White Way in the coming months. Now instead of writing about the shows I am looking forward to the most first I will instead list all the shows alphabetically. And away we go!

Act One
Vivian Beaumont Theatre
First Preview: March 20, 2014
Opens: April 17, 2014

Tony winner James Lapine directs his own adaptation of Moss Hart's classic autobiography which eloquently chronicles the playwright/director's impoverished childhood and his determined struggle to escape poverty and forge a career in the theater which led to his collaboration with George S. Kaufman and their partnership, culminating with his first great success, Once In A Lifetime. Having lived in New York for the better part of two decades I can tell you that some of my most favorite Broadway experiences have been because of Lincoln Center Theatre which is producing this new play. I for one can't wait to see it.

Aladdin
New Amsterdam Theatre
First Preview: February 26, 2014
Opens: March 20, 2014

Now those of you who read my blogs now my disdain for all things Disney. Particularly when it comes to them on Broadway. But lets' face it. They don't really care what I think anyway. After all I'm not the one buying the tickets now am I? Anyway enough about what I like. Aladdin which is based on the 1992 of the same is set to open at their flagship theatre the New Amsterdam.

Directed by Tony Award winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon) and featuring the classic Alan Menken, Howard Ashman, and Tim Rice score with songs like "Friend Like Me" and the Academy Award-winning "A Whole New World," Aladdin will use a new book and additional lyrics by Chad Beguelin (The Wedding Singer). Now as we all know both The Lion King and Mary Poppins played at the same theatre and they were big hits. Will Aladdin be just as successful? We will soon find out.

All The Way
Neil Simon Theatre
First Preview: February 10, 2014
Opens: March 6, 2014

Now we all know that one of the main reason's this show is coming to Broadway is because it is starring Emmy Award winner Bryan Cranston. Let me guess you've never heard of him right? Wrong! He's only the star of one of the most critically acclaimed television shows of the past fifty years. Ever hear of a little show called Breaking Bad? Now it's ringing a bell isn't it? The show which just finished a successful run at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge takes the audience behind the doors of the Oval Office and inside the first years of Lyndon B. Johnson's (Bryan Cranston) presidency, and his fight to pass a landmark civil rights bill. O.K. Sounds like it could be some what interesting. Either way expect the show to do big business at the box office.

The Bridges of Madison County
Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre
First Preview: January 17, 2014
Opens: February 20, 2014

You've seen the movie. Now see the Broadway show. Believe it or not but I have never seen the movie. Big surprise right? The truth is I really never had a desire. Does that mean I won't see the Broadway show? I might. After all a free ticket is a free ticket. Now for those of you who aren't familiar with the movie or the show here is a little info on it. Four-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara reunites with director Bartlett Sher for a stunning new musical by the Tony and Pulitzer Prize-winning team of Marsha Norman and Jason Robert Brown. O'Hara is joined onstage by Steven Pasquele for this classic love story based on the best-selling novel by Robert James Waller. Don't miss this sweeping romance about the roads we travel, the doors we open and the bridges we dare to cross. Who knows? Maybe I will check it out. Stranger things have happened.

Bronx Bombers
Circle in the Square Theatre
First Preview: January 11, 2014
Opens: February 6, 2014

Now while I may be a big Mets fan I have to admit that I am might just have to check this one out. Even if it is about the Yankees. Yes I know. New York has and probably always will be a Yankees town. That will never change. Now for you Yankees fans that want to see the show here is a synopsis about the show from the play's official website.

Bronx Bombers is a new American play from the team behind Broadway's Lombardi that follows beloved icon Yogi Berra and his wife Carmen through a century of the team's trials and triumphs, bringing generations of Yankee greats together on one stage. As it celebrates and explores the timeless legacy of baseball's most iconic team, Bronx Bombers takes a fascinating look at how and why the Yankees have remained so undeniably great... and so powerfully inspirational. See you at the game. I mean the show.

Well that ends Part One theatre fans. Check back here in the next few days for Part Two. Happy New Year Everyone!

Final Week To See Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark On Broadway

That's right theatre fans. You only have eight more chances to see the most expensive show in Broadway history. Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark. The show which will play it's final performance on January 4  has been more scrutinized and written about then any show in recent memory will play it's final performance on January 4.Thanks Michael Riedel. Don't get me wrong. I actually like the guy. Oh sure you may not care for everything he has to say but the man says what's on his mind and tells the truth. How many other columnists do you know do that? Not too many my friends. When it closes the show which will have losses of up to sixty million dollars. As of now plans are to revamp the show and reopen it in Las Vegas in 2015. Good luck with that. Until next time Spidey fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from across the river. That's right. I'm talking about New Jersey. Two days ago I received an email from a friend of mine who wanted to take his family to see Matilda for the holidays. Now he knew that it might be tough since the show was less a week away. Luckily for him I had seats available in our inventory which meant not only were they good seats but a little less as well. When all is said and done I was able to get them three very good seats in the Mezzanine and as I mentioned for a price that was lower than if they had bought them from another source. I guess having me as a friend does have it's rewards huh? Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Massachusetts. Woburn to be exact. This past Saturday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to Las Vegas and wanted to see a show while they were there. Their first and only choice was Cirque du Soleil O. Now to be honest I have never seen one of their shows and quite frankly have no desire to either. Anyway enough about what I want to see right? Their the ones that are paying for the tickets after all. So after finding out when they would be here I asked the agent how many tickets they needed and where they wanted to sit. Well as it turns out they needed twenty-four tickets. No that's not a typo. They needed twenty-four tickets. Luckily for them they still had some left that close to the date. When all was said an done I was able to get them excellent seats in the center back to back. Not only that I was able to get them for a lower rate as it was for a group. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Harvey Fierstein's New Play Casa Valentina To Open On Broadway This Spring

That's right theatre fans. Four-time Tony Award winner Harvey Fierstein is returning to the Great White Way. And this time he's not in drag. In fact his new show Casa Valentina is his first new play on Broadway in almost thirty years. The show while will also be his first ever collaboration with Manhattan Theatre Club is set to begin previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on April 1, 2014 with opening night scheduled for April 23, 2014. Here is a description of the show from the play's official website.

Back in 1962, most men went to the Catskill Mountains to escape the summer heat, but others took the two-hour drive to escape something else entirely: being men. Nestled in the land of dirty dancing and borscht belt comedy sat an inconspicuous bungalow colony that catered to a very special clientele: heterosexual men whose favorite pastime was dressing and acting as women. It was paradise for these men—white-collar professionals with families—to spend their weekends discreetly and safely inhabiting their chosen female alter egos.

But when faced with the opportunity to become an official organization, these "self-made women" had to decide whether public recognition would help them gain a place in open society or spell their own personal disaster. Infused with Fierstein's trademark wit, this moving, insightful and delightfully entertaining new work offers a glimpse into the lives of a group of unforgettable characters as they search for acceptance and happiness in their very own Garden of Eden.

Sounds like a lot of fun now doesn't it? By the way for those of you that are interested in getting tickets to see Casa Valentina you have come to the right my place my friends. Not only do we sell this show but every show both On and Off-Broadway. Get your tickets to see Casa Valentina at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Ticket's To New Play Mothers And Sons Starring Tyne Daly Is Now On Sale

That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most acclaimed stars is set to return to the Great White Way next year. Yes I know. She's a big television star too. Tyne Daly, a Tony and Emmy winner for her work in Gypsy and Cagney and Lacey is set to star in Mother's and Son's. The show which is written by four-time Tony Award winner Terrence McNally (Master Class, Ragtime) is set to begin previews at the John Golden Theatre on February 23, 2104 with opening night scheduled for March 24, 2014. Here is a brief synopsis about the show from the play' s official website. Enjoy!

Tackling national themes in the most intimate of settings, Mothers and Sons is Terrence McNally at his most uncompromising, compassionate and revealing. Twenty years after her son's death, a mother turns up at the door of his former lover, who is now married to another man and has a young son. This man and his family challenge the woman to confront the truths of their shared past, and a future she never imagined. Values clash as they struggle to reconcile their vastly different worlds. As powerful and provocative as it is warm and humorous, Mothers and Sons explores the very essence of family and forgiveness in a rapidly changing society.

Sounds like an interesting night in the theatre now doesn't it? By the way for those of you who are looking to purchase tickets for the show you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell tickets to this show but every show both On and Off-Broadway. Get your tickets to see Mother's and Sons at the John Golden Theatre on Broadway. Expect it to be a big contender at the 2014 Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Oklahoma. Edmond to be exact. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from one of my regular travel agents who's client was planning a trip to New York for the Christmas holidays and wanted to see a few shows while they were here. Their choices were Motown, Wicked, and The Lion King. Now of those shows the only one that I haven't seen is The Lion King. I take that back. I did see Act One. That was enough. So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they wanted to go. Since they were only here for a couple of days I told them that in order to squeeze in all three shows they would need to see two shows on one day and the third show on Christmas. Luckily they were fine with that. When all is said and done I was able to get them excellent seats in the Mezzanine for all three shows. Plus because we had seats in our inventory for The Lion King I was able to get them for a lower rate than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

My Thoughts On The Current Broadway Season

Hard to believe but the year is almost over. Yes I know we've still got four weeks until the end of 2013 buy trust me my friends. It will be 2014 before we know it. Scary right? Now when I look back at the season so far I have to say it has been a lot better than last year a this time. In fact at this time last year three new shows had already closed with more set to close the following month. Now we all know that's nothing new. In fact next in the next few weeks five shows including Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark and Annie are scheduled to close. Like I said nothing new. The good news is that the rest of the season looks pretty good.

Now of all the shows set to open the two that I am looking forward to the most are both based on movies. Yes I know I have written many blogs over the years about my distaste for Broadway musicals based on movies. Doesn't mean I don't want to see these them. Who knows? They might actually be good. Another show that I am looking forward to is Hedwig and the Angry Inch starring Emmy Award winner and Tony host Neil Patrick Harris. This production which will mark it's Broadway debut is one of this season's most highly anticipated shows. Plus between now and the end of April there are a total of eighteen shows set to open. Now if that doesn't get you excited then I don't know what will. Here is a list of those shows.

Aladdin

All The Way

Beautiful

The Bridges of Madison County

Bronx Bombers

Bullets Over Broadway

Cabaret

Casa Valentina

Hedwig and the Angry Inch

If/Then

Les Miserables

Machinal

Mothers and Sons

Of Mice and Men

Outside Mullingar

A Raisin in the Sun

Rocky

Violet

Which one's will fail and which one's will succeed? We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from our friends up North. That's right. I am talking of course about Canada. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to Las Vegas in January and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were there. Let me guess? You didn't know we sold tickets for Las Vegas did you? Well we do. In fact we sell tickets for every city around the world. So anyway after finding out when they would be there I asked her what they wanted to see. Their choices were Celine Dion and Cirque du Soleil: O. Two events that I personally have no desire to see. But who cares what I want to see. It's what they want to see is what is important right? After all if people weren't calling us to buy tickets I would be out of job and I know you don't want that to happen do you? I didn't think so. Anyway after finding out when they wanted to go I asked them where they wanted to sit and more importantly how much they wanted to spend. After a little research I was able to find them great seats for both shows and at rates there were lower than even I was expecting. Not only that but they said they might call us if they have time to see another show while they are there. Another satisfied customer will you be next?

Emmy Winner Bryan Cranston To Open On Broadway This Winter In All The Way

Wait a minute. Walter White on Broadway? It's true. Now relax Breaking Bad fans. They are not turning your favorite show into a big splashy Broadway musical. I just wanted to get your attention. What is happening of course is that three-time Emmy winner Bryan Cranston is coming to Broadway in a new play. All The Way,written by Pulitzer Prize winner Robert Schenkkan is set to begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on February 10, 2014 with opening night scheduled for March 6, 2014. Interesting fact. This will be the first play at the Neil Simon Theatre since A View From the Bridge played there in 1998.

Now I'll be honest I have never seen an episode of Breaking Bad. The truth is the only thing that I have seen him Mr. Cranston in is Seinfeld and How I Met Your Mother. But let's face it. A man doesn't win an Emmy three years in a row if he isn't good. Plus based on his stellar reviews from the shows most recent run at the American Repertory Theatre in Cambridge we might just see a Tony nomination and possible win in his future. But enough about it's star. You probably want to know what the shows about before you see it don't you? So here you go. Enjoy!

"1963. An assassin’s bullet catapults Lyndon Baines Johnson into the presidency. A Shakespearean figure of towering ambition and appetite, the charismatic, conflicted Texan hurls himself into Civil Rights legislation, throwing the country into turmoil. Alternately bullying and beguiling, he enacts major social programs, faces down opponents and wins the 1964 election in a landslide. But in faraway Vietnam, a troublesome conflict looms. In the Pulitzer Prize–winning playwright’s vivid dramatization of LBJ’s first year in office, means versus ends plays out on a broad stage canvas as politicians and civil rights leaders plot strategy and wage war."

Now I don't know about you but it sure sounds like a winner to me. What do you think? Tickets for the highly anticipated show are scheduled to go on sale on December 14 so mark that day down on your calendars or you might miss out on what is sure to be the theatrical event of the Winter. Get your tickets to see Bryan Cranston as Lyndon B. Johnson at the Neil Simon Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Winner Sutton Foster To Return To Broadway This Spring In Violet

That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most beloved stars is set to return to the Great White Way this Spring. Violet starring two-time Tony Award winner is set to begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on March 28, 2014 opening night set for April 10, 2014. Now while I've heard of the show before I'll be honest I'm not very familiar with it.

From what I read it first premiered Off-Broadway in 1997 at Playwright's Horizons where it won both the Drama Critic's Award and Lucille Lortel Award for Best Musical of the Year. Now for those of you that are like me and not all that familiar with the show here is a synopsis about Violet from the show's official website. Enjoy!

Violet tells the story of a young woman’s quest for beauty amidst the image-obsessed landscape of the 1960s. Facially disfigured in a childhood accident, Violet dreams of a miraculous transformation through the power of faith. Convinced that a televangelist in Oklahoma can heal her, she hops a Greyhound bus and starts the journey of a lifetime.

The show which is scheduled to run thru August 10, 2014 features music by Tony nominee Jeanine Tesori (Shrek, Caroline or Change) and book and lyrics by Brian Crawley. Directing the show is Leigh Silverman (Well, Chinglish) with choreography by Jeffrey Page. Tickets for the show are expected to go on sale in the coming weeks so make sure to check back here when they do. Until next time theatre fans.

Tickets To Bullets Over Broadway The Musical

I can't tell you how excited I am to see this show. That's right. I am a huge Woody Allan fan. Have been since I played Humphrey Bogart in my high school production of "Play It Again Sam". Bullets Over Broadway which will feature a book by Woody Allan and popular tunes from the 1920's is set to begin previews at the St. James Theatre on March 11,2014.

The show which is based on the hit 1994 movie is being directed by five-time Tony Award winner Susan Stroman. It was also just announced that starring in the lead role is Zach Braff (Scrubs, Garden State). Kind of makes you want to see it even more now doesn't it? Now for those of you who are not familiar with the film I have included a description of it from the show's official website. Enjoy!

A playwright who needs someone to back his next show.

A mobster who needs some way to please his showgirl girlfriend.

This could be the start of a beautiful friendship—

or a brand new musical comedy!Based on the screenplay of the acclaimed film, BULLETS OVER BROADWAY brings the talents of Woody Allen and Susan Stroman together for the first time next spring at the St. James Theatre.

Loaded with big laughs, colorful characters, and the songs that made the 20’s roar, BULLETS OVER BROADWAY is ready to bring musical comedy back with a bang.

Miss Saigon To Return To The West End Next Year

Great news theatre fans. One of the world's most successful shows of all time is coming back where it first began. Miss Saigon, which first premiered in London over twenty-four years ago is set to return to the West End in May 2014 at the Prince Edward Theatre. Growing up in Illinois I wasn't exposed to a lot of theatre except for the shows I did in high school and at our local community theatre. Therefore when Miss Saigon first come out I was more than a little intrigued. Well as you can probably guess I loved it. I fact I think I still have an old cassette of the show lying somewhere around my apartment. Now for those of you who never got around to seeing before now is your chance. Well that is if you live in London or are planning a trip there next year. However if it does well and based on the sizable advance the show already has I wouldn't be surprised to see it come to Broadway in the future. We shall see. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets for the show you are in luck. In fact not only do we sell tickets to Miss Saigon but every show and event in London. Who knew? New Play Outside Mullingar To Open On Broadway This January

A new play by John Patrick Shanley on Broadway? Count me in. Outside Mullingar which begins previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on January 3, 2014 will mark Mr. Shanley's tenth play at Manhattan Theatre Club. Opening night is scheduled for January 23 and the show will run thru March 16. The show which is being directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes stars Tony winner Brian O'Byrne (Doubt, Frozen) and Emmy winner Debra Messing. (Will and Grace, Smash) Here is a brief description about the play from the show's official website.

Tony winner Brían F. O’Byrne (FrozenDoubtMillion Dollar Baby) and Emmy winner Debra Messing (“Will & Grace,” "Smash," Collected Stories) play Anthony and Rosemary, two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well. Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away.

With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe. But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness. Their journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell, and ultimately deeply moving.

Sounds a wee bit interesting right? See what I did there? Pretty clever huh? By the way tickets for the show are now on sale and guess what? We sell them. In fact for most performances we can get you tickets at "Insider Prices". Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Get your tickets to see Outside Mullingar at the Samuel J. Hedwig And The Angry Inch Starring Neil Patrick Harris To Open On Broadway This Spring

I can't begin to tell you how excited I am to see this show. Not only is it one of my favorite shows but it is starring one of my favorite actor's in the form of How I Met Your Mother star Neil Patrick Harris. Now believe it or not but I have never seen the show. I have however managed to just about wear out my copy of the cast recording. Like I said. I love the show. Hedwig and the Angry Inch, which first premiered Off-Broadway at the Jane Street Theatre in 1998 will make it's Broadway debut this Spring at the Belasco Theatre. The show which is being directed by Tony Award winner Michael Mayer (Spring Awakening, American Idiot) is set to begin previews on March 29, 2014 with opening night scheduled for April 22. Tickets by the way are now on sale and selling like hotcakes. Get your tickets to see Hedwig and the Angry Inch on Broadway the Belasco Theatre. I can't wait.

Disney's Aladdin To Open On Broadway

Now for those of you who read my blogs you know that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. In fact of the seven Disney shows that have opened on Broadway I have only seen Aida. I take that back. I did see Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. I guess I just blocked that out. Now believe it or not but I actually enjoyed Aida. I guess because it wasn't based on a cartoon. Saying that I do believe they have a place. After all if it wasn't for Disney most children might never get the chance to experience the magic that is a live theatre.

I guess for that they should be commended. Aladdin, which is based on the 1992 movie of the same name is set to begin previews at the New Amsterdam Theatre on February 26, 2014 with opening night scheduled for March 20, 2014. Now as we all know both The Lion King and Mary Poppins played at the same theatre and they were big hits. Will Aladdin be just as successful? We will soon find out. Now for those of you like me who have never seen the movie here is a description of the musical from the show's website. Enjoy!

Disney's smash hit movie Aladdin finally makes its way to the Broadway stage! Aladdin is sure to bring joy and laughter to the whole family!

O.K. let's be honest. That sounded more like a plug about the show as opposed to what the show is actually about. The truth is though that most if not all of the people that will end up buying tickets for the show are because they are fans of the movie. Makes sense to me. By the way for those of you whoare looking to purchase tickets to see Aladdin you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell tickets to Aladdin but to Newsies, The Lion King, and of course every show both On and Off-Broadway. That's what we do. Get your tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway at New Amsterdam Theatre. Until next time Disney fans.

New Play Bronx Bombers To Open On Broadway This Winter

Let me just first start off by saying that I am a huge Mets fan. In fact even though I'm a loyal Knicks fan too I've actually been to more Mets games than Knicks games. Maybe that's because Mets tickets are a lot cheaper. Now we all know that New York is a Yankees town. Always has been and probably always will be. Which brings me to the reason for today's blog. Bronx Bombers, which opened to rave reviews Off-Broadway at Primary Stages is set to move uptown where it will begin previews at the Circle in the Square Theatre on January 10, 2014. Opening night is scheduled for February 6. Now for those of you out there who might want to see the show here is a brief synopsis about Bronx Bombers from the play's website.

Ruth. Berra. Mantle. DiMaggio. Gehrig. Jeter. The New York Yankees have never had a shortage of star players… or controversy.

Now while I may be a Mets fan at heart I have to admit that I might just have to check this one out. Even though I did not get the chance to see Lombardi I did see the author's last show Magic/Bird. Yes I know that it was a flop. Didn't mean I didn't enjoy myself. And after all isn't that what theatre is all about anyway? Get your tickets to see Bronx Bombers at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Who knows? I might just see you there. Until next time baseball fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from our friends up North. That's right. I am talking about Canada. Edmonton, Alberta to be exact. This past Sunday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was visiting New York in December and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. That's right folks. We are open on Sundays. Saturdays too. How many other ticket companies do you know that do that?

Not too many my friends. So anyway after finding out when they would be here I asked the agent what her client wanted to see. Their two choices were The Nutcracker and Tosca. Let me guess. You didn't know we sell tickets to the Opera did you? Well we do. Now that's two things you learned today. How about that? Now because they were only here for a few days they only had a small window in which to see both shows.

Plus since neither were performing on Monday and they were leaving on Tuesday they only had Saturday and Sunday in which to see both shows. Luckily for them both shows still had some nice seats left. For Tosca I was able to get them some very nice seats in the Center Rear Orchestra. Yes I know when most people here the word Rear Orchestra they naturally assume that they won't be able to see. Well you would be wrong. It is a perfect view. One show down. One more to go.

Now because The Nutcracker is a limited engagement it is a little more difficult to get good seats let alone get any seats at all.  It is the holiday season as you know. However after a little research I was able to find them some seats in the 3rd Ring. Wait a minute. 3rd Ring? Isn't that all they way up in the boonies? Yes it's pretty high up but it is a full view. Plus I got it for a rate that was lower then they were expecting. So there you have it folks. Two great shows to see this holiday season. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Radio City Christmas Spectacular To Begin Performances Tomorrow

Can you believe that it's almost Christmas? I sure can't. It seems like the summer just ended and here we are with Thanksgiving only three weeks away and then Christmas and New Years soon to follow. Time sure does fly. Especially in the big city. Well Christmas is now sooner than you think folks because tonight performances begin for this year's edition of the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. The show which is now in it's record breaking 80th year is a must see event this holiday season for the whole family. Believe it or not but I have never seen the show. Maybe it's because I don't have a family. Well not in New York that is. Look I'm sure that once I see it I will love it. I just feel like it's something that I would enjoy more with my wife or girlfriend. Let's hope that is not too far away. Fingers crossed. Now for those of you out there who want to see the show you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell tickets to the Radio City Christmas Spectacular but at prices that can't be beat. Customer Story

Today's customer story comes from the great state of New York. Woodbury to be exact. A couple of days ago I received a call from one of my regular travel agents who had a large group coming to New York City in a couple of weeks and wanted to see a show. Their choice just happened to be one of my favorite shows on Broadway. No it's not The Lion King. Not a big Disney fan after all. The show they wanted to see was Rock of Ages. Which I have seen five times by the way. I guess you could say I'm a fun huh? So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they wanted to go and how many tickets they needed. Well as it turns out they needed eighteen tickets. Luckily for me they didn't care if they all sat together. Because the show has been playing for a number of years I knew I would have no problem getting tickets. Plus they were going on a Monday night which is normally not a busy night for theatre. When all was said and done I was able to get then excellent seats in the Orchestra and because it was a group they got a great deal. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Kentucky. Louisville to be exact. Earlier this morning I received a call from a travel agent who's client was coming to New York for the Christmas holidays and wanted to see two shows while they were here. Their choices were Mamma Mia and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Two shows believe it or not that I have never seen. Oh well. Not like either one of them are going anywhere anytime soon. So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they wanted to go and more importantly where they wanted to sit. Now since they were going on a weekend they knew it would probably be more expensive. Well not as expensive as they thought. For Mamma Mia I was able to get them great seats in the center Front Mezzanine and center Orchestra for Radio City. Plus I was able to get them for a rate than was less than they were quoted from another company. Sounds like a win-win to me. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the Lone Star State. That's right. I am talking about the great state of Texas. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from one of our regular travel agents who's client was planning a trip to New York for the Christmas holidays. Care to guess what they wanted to see? Well one has been playing for over two decades and the other has been a New York institution since 1954. Give up?

Why it's none other than The Phantom of the Opera and George Balanchine's The Nutcracker. Now while I've seen Phantom I have never seen the Nutcracker. Oh well. I'm sure it is still be around for another fifty-nine years or more. So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they wanted to go and where they wanted to sit. Now normally there are very few shows that play on Christmas Day. However Phantom was playing so I ended up finding them two very nice seats in the Center Rear Mezzanine for the 8pm performance.

Now I know what you are thinking. Isn't the Rear Mezzanine the nosebleed section? Not in this theatre. As a matter of fact the Rear Mezzanine and the Balcony in almost every Broadway theatre is still a great view. Who knew? One show down. One to go. For The Nutcracker I also suggested the upper level as you still have a great view. Luckily they agreed with me too. So there you have it folks. Two great shows and great seats to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Today's customer story comes all the way from Beantown. That's right. I am talking about Boston, Massachusetts. Yesterday afternoon I got a call from a travel agent who's client was coming to New York for the Thanksgiving holidays and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Now as it turns out he had already purchased tickets for his group for the same weekend and now they all wanted to see another show. The only difference is not everybody wanted to see the same thing. Makes sense to me. After all one person's favorite is not always someone else's. So anyway after finding out what everyone wanted to see I needed to find out where they all wanted to sit and more importantly what they wanted to spend. Their choices of shows were A Night With Janis Joplin, Motown, and 700 Sundays with Billy Crystal. Three great choices but all very different. When all was said an done I was able to get them Premium seats for all three shows and for less than even I was expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Wicked To Celebrate Ten Years On The Great White Way

Has it really been ten years since Wicked opened on Broadway? My how time flies. Now while I enjoyed the show when it first opened I never expected to still be talking about it all these years later. I guess the critics didn't either because if you recall the reviews were very mixed. Oh well. The critics have been known to be wrong before. The show which will celebrate it's tenth year on the Great White Way tomorrow remains one of Broadway's most popular shows. In fact I wouldn't be surprised if ten years from now Wicked will be celebrating it's twentieth anniversary. It's that good. Now for those of you out there who still haven't seen it or for those of you Wicked fans who want to see it again you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell tickets to the Broadway production but also London and every city in between. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Wicked on Broadway or at a city near you. Customer Story

Yes I know. I know. It's been two weeks since my last customer story. What can I say? It's been a busy two weeks here at Applause. Which of course means that I have a lot of customer stories to share with you. Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Ohio. So anyway last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a last minute trip to New York and wanted to see two shows while they were here. How last minute you ask? They were coming to New York that week and within 48 hours. Their choices were Matilda and The Book of Mormon. Two great choices don't you think? Not only that but two of Broadway's hottest shows. Now you would think that getting tickets this close to the date might be difficult. Makes sense right? Well not when you call one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause it's not. That's right. Not only do we sell most tickets for both Broadway and Off-Broadway shows at "Insider Prices" but we also have access to hard to get tickets for the hottest shows as well.  Oh and did I mention that fact that they needed six tickets for both shows? When all was said and done I was able to find six tickets in the Orchestra for Matilda and six tickets in the Front Mezzanine for The Book of Mormon. Not only that but they were at a price that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Betrayal Reviews

Well the reviews are in and it looks like Harold Pinter's Betrayal is a hit. Not like the reviews really mattered as it was a hit anyway. The show which opened last night at the Barrymore Theatre and stars married costars Daniel Craig and Rachel Weisz along with Rafe Spall is scheduled to run thru January 5,2014. Now on to the reviews.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from Kansas. Hutchinson to be exact. To be honest I can't remember the last time I sold tickets to someone from there. Oh well. I guess I should be thankful that the phones are ringing at all in this economy. So anyway yesterday I got a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York next month and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were A Night With Janis Joplin and Pippin which won four Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival of the Year. Now while I didn't see either show Pippin is very popular and while the Janis Joplin show just started previews last week it is already selling pretty well. After finding out when they would be here I asked the agent where they would prefer to sit and she told me that even though they have sat in the Orchestra before they prefer the Front Mezzanine. As do I. Anyway after a little research I found great seats in the Center Mezzanine for both shows. Not only that but I got them for a rate that was lower than they were expecting. Today's customer story comes all the way from the Sunshine State. Clearwater to be exact. This past Friday I received a call from one of my regular travel agents who's client was coming into New York next month and wanted to see a show while they were here. Care to guess what show they wanted to see? No it wasn't The Book of Mormon and no it wasn't Kinky Boots or Matilda. Heck it wasn't even The Phantom of the Opera or Mamma Mia. No it was Tosca. Let me guess? You didn't know that we sold tickets to the Opera as well did you? Well we do. In fact we sell all events in New York City including the ballet, concerts, and all sporting events. Who knew?

So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I asked them when they wanted to go and more importantly where the wanted to sit and how much they wanted to spend. Opera tickets are not cheap if you want the best seats and they did. After a little research I found some very nice seats in the Center Orchestra for the bargain price of three hundred and sixty dollars. Now I know what you're thinking. That doesn't sound like much of a bargain. Trust me my friends. When it comes to a show like Tosca that is a good price. So there you have it folks. One of the world's most popular Operas and great seats to boot. Wait a minute not so fast. As it turns out they loved the seats so much that they talked two of their friends into joining them. Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from Woodbury, New York. This past Friday I received a call from one of our regular travel agents who had a group of seventeen people who wanted to see a show while they were here. Yes that's right. I said seventeen people. Their first and only choice was Motown The Musical. Great show by the way. In fact if I could see it again I would. Thankfully the last time I saw it the tickets were free. Just one of the perks of working in this industry. So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to see if tickets were available. It is one of the hottest shows on Broadway after all. Luckily for them they wanted to go on a Tuesday night which has more availability. Now while I normally prefer the Front Mezzanine for most shows the Orchestra is actually the better view for this show. Even if you are off to the side. When all was said and done I was able to get all seventeen seats in two rows back to back. Not only that but she called back later today and ordered another ticket. Another satisfied customer. Spider-Man has been playing for almost three years and while Radio City is still a big seller it is one of those shows that you can still get good tickets for even last minute. Betrayal Starring Daniel Craig,Rachel Weisz and Rafe Spall To Begin Previews On Broadway Tonight

That's right theatre fans. One of this season's biggest hits is set to begin performances tonight at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Yes that's right. I said hit. Not bad for a show that hasn't even had it's first preview. In fact the phones have been ringing off the hook ever since the show was first announced back in June. Now that doesn't mean you can't get tickets. Believe it or not but there are seats available for almost every performance.

You just may have to take out a mortgage on your house to get them. I'm kidding of course. There not that expensive. There not cheap either. Oh well. If you want to see the show than you have to cough up the bucks. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the show I have included a brief synopsis about Betrayal from the show's official website. Enjoy!

"Emma (Weisz) is married to Robert (Craig), a publisher, but she has long had an affair with Jerry (Spall), a literary agent and Robert's best friend; as, in a brilliant device, time is regained, so the full complexity of their relationships comes to light."

Sounds like something you want to see right? The show which is scheduled to open on October 27 will play thru January 5, 2014. Now if reviews are good I would think they would extend but you never know. I'm sure Mr. Craig has to leave to go film the latest James Bond movie. Get your tickets to see Betrayal at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great of Alabama. Birmingham to be exact. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York in November and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were Motown and the Jersey Boys. Now based on their two selections I am guessing that they are fans of music of the 60's and 70's. Makes sense right? So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they would be here. Now since they were only going to be here for a couple of days they only had a small window to see both shows. Plus because they were going on a weekend there would be less availability. Well as it turns out that didn't matter as they were looking for Premium seats for both shows. Which in case you didn't know are more expensive than regular seats but of course much closer to the stage and center. Now I personally don't like to sit that close when I go to the theatre but that's me. I'm a Front Mezzanine type of guy. But enough about me and where I like to sit. Anyway after a little research I found some great seats in the Center Orchestra for both shows and all together it all came to a little over fourteen hundred dollars. Yes I know that sound like a lot for four tickets but you get what you pay for I guess. So there you have it folks. Two great shows with amazing seats to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Broadway's Rock Of Ages For Less This Fall

Still haven't seen Rock of Ages yet? Well what are you waiting for people? It's only been playing for almost five years. I myself have seen it over a half a dozen times so what's your excuse? Now for those of you out there who still haven't seen it I have good news my friends. Now is the best time to see this amazing show. I mean who doesn't love the music of the 80's? I know I do. Plus at only 500 seats every seat in the theatre is good. How many theatres do you know that can say that? Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru December 22 it is not valid for Saturday evenings and like always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre. You will love it.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from New Zealand. Yes believe it or not but I do sell tickets to people from other countries too. Every customer story can't be from Texas or Canada. So anyway yesterday afternoon I received a call from a young lady who wanted tickets to see Romeo and Juliet with Orlando Bloom. I told her that should not be a problem and asked her how she found us. She said she had just purchased the NY Pass which gave her a discount on theatre tickets. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the pass it gives you a discount for over one hundred places and events in New York City including tickets to the theatre. Sounds like a great deal don't you think? Since she was only a couple blocks away I suggested that she come up to the office that way I could show her the layout of the theatre and find out where she would like to sit. She loved that idea and five minutes later she and her friends were standing in front of me ready to purchase tickets for the show. After finding out when they wanted to go I suggested that the better seats in that theatre are in the Front Mezzanine as the first row overhangs very close to the stage and having seen the show you get a much better overall view of all the action. They agreed and when all was said and done I got them some great seats in the Center Mezzanine and at a price that was lower than they has seen on other sites. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the "Great White North". That's right my friends I am talking about Canada. Cold Lake, Alberta to be exact. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York in November and wanted tickets to a couple of shows while they were here. Yes that's right. We are open on Sundays. Saturdays too. So anyway after finding out when they would be here I asked the agent what they wanted to see. Their choices were Annie and some band called the Florida Georgia Line. Don't feel bad. I haven't heard of them either. Now since Annie has been playing for awhile I knew I would have no problem getting them great seats and also at a great price as well. Well as it turns out they weren't so much concerned with the cost as they were with the seats. In fact the agent told me that "price wasn't an object." I wish all of our customers were like that. When all was said and done I ended up getting them excellent seats in the 7th row center of the Orchestra. Well they loved that. One show down. One to go. Now for the concert they not only wanted great seats but they also wanted a meet and greet with the band afterwards. I guess they are big fans huh? Once again I got them great seats and it ended up being less than they thought. So there you have it folks. Two shows with great seats to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Florida. Ocala to be exact. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York in December and wanted to see two shows while they were here. Their choices were Matilda and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Now while I have never seen the Christmas show I did get the chance to see Matilda during it's preview period. To be honest I thought that I was going to hate it. After all it is a children's show. At least that's what I had been told anyway. Thankfully I somehow managed to talk myself into it and decided to give the show a chance. It was a free ticket after all. Well all I say is I am so glad I did. I loved it. In fact I would rank it up there as one of the best shows that I have ever seen. Yes my friends it was that good. Now enough about my love for Matilda. Back to today's customer story. So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they wanted to go and where they wanted to sit and of course how much they wanted to spend. Now since they were only going to be here for a couple of days I suggested that they see Matilda on Friday as that was when they had the better seats at the lower price. One show down. One to go. For Radio City I told them that if they were willing to go to an earlier show that not only would the seats be good but also at a lower rate. Well they loved that. So there you have it folks. Two great shows and great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Florida. Last week I received a call from one of my regular travel agents who's client was planning a trip to New York for the Christmas Tree lighting and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were Matilda and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Now while I loved Matilda I have never seen the Christmas Spectacular. Oh well. It's not like the show is going anywhere. So anyway now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out when they wanted to go and more importantly where they wanted to sit and how much they wanted to spend. Luckily for them we had seats in our inventory for Matilda which meant not only were the seats good but at a lower rate. Well they loved that. One show down. One to go. Now because they were flexible on when they wanted to see it I suggested that if they were willing to go to an earlier show that I would once again be able to get them excellent seats and at a lower rate. So there you have it folks. Two great shows with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Broadway's Chicago Celebrates Milestone

That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's longest running shows is making history again. Chicago, which opened on Broadway in November 1996 is set to celebrate it's 7,000 performance on September 24. When it does it will become only the third show is history to achieve that honor. Hard to believe that it's been almost seventeen years since the show first opened. Now while I loved the show when I first saw it I never expected to still be talking about it all these years later. Yes here we are in 2013 and the show is going just as strong as ever. Who would have thought? By the way for those of you still looking to get tickets to see Chicago you are in luck. We sell tickets to the show. Well that and every other show on Broadway. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru December 22 it is as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Chicago on Broadway at the Ambassador Theatre. You will love it. I know I did.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from "Dairy Country". That's right. I am talking about the great state of Wisconsin. Kronewetter to be exact. Don't feel bad. I haven't heard of it either. So anyway this past Friday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York next month and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were there. Their two choices were Wicked and The Book of Mormon. Two of the most popular shows in Broadway history in case you didn't know. Now since they were only here for a few days they only had a limited amount of time to see the shows. Therefore I suggested that they see Wicked on Thursday and Mormon on Friday as that was the night they had the better seats. When all was said and done I was able to get them center seats in the Front Mezzanine for both shows. Not only that but I got them both for a rate that was lower than they had seen anywhere else. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Les Miserables To Return To Broadway This Spring

You've seen the movie. Now see the show. Yes we all know that the show came first. However there is no denying that one of the main reasons the show is coming back is largely due to the success of the film. Believe it or not but I have never seen the show. Well not all the way through anyway. It's funny but growing up I loved listening to the cast recording of the show. Cut to almost fifteen years later I finally got around to seeing it and I was bored to tears. Although in their defense the show had been running for a long time by that point and I'm sure some of the actor's were probably tired of it too. You know what? Forgot I said that. I saw the most recent revival too and I was bored by that too. Maybe I just don't like the show or maybe I would rather listen to it instead of seeing it.

Who knows? Maybe the third time will be the charm and I will stick around and see the whole thing. Stranger things have happened. The show which last played the Great White Way back in January 2008 is scheduled to begin previews at it's former home the Imperial Theatre on March 1, 2014 with opening night set for March 23. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see Les Miserables you have come to the right place. Not only do we sell tickets to this show but every show both On and Off-Broadway. Not only that but we are open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all your ticket needs. Get your tickets to see Les Miserables on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
