Patti Lupone and Christine Ebersole Star in WAR PAINT on March 7, 2017

I'm looking forward to the much anticipated Broadway show called WAR PAINT, which begins preview performances at New York's Nederlander Theatre on March 7, 2017 prior to an official opening night on April 6, 2017.

War Paint is a new musical which broke several records at Chicago's Goodman Theatre for the past several months. War Paint tells the story of two fiercely competitive "makeup industry" rivals, Helena Rubinstein and Elizabeth Arden, who came to New York, took a look around and decided to help begin to make a change for women in a world dominated by men for a long time. Two-time Tony Award winner Patti Lupone will play the role of Helena Rubinstein and Christine Ebersole will play the role of Elizabeth Arden.

War Paint takes place during the height of New York society times as we get to witness two self-made makeup industry titans, as they pave the way for a new industry that defined beauty standards in the 20th Century. Not only did these two women battle one another for the most popular cosmetics lines over the years but they also became the country's first successful female entrepreneur's. They managed to keep changing with the times as they also changed how the world saw women differently as well.

Ben Brantley of The New York Times said "the deliciously paired Patti Lupone & Christine Ebersole are knockouts!" The Huffington Post called War Paint "highly entertaining! An intoxicating, knockout hit." The Chicago-Sun Times called War Paint "brilliant, poignant and superbly performed."

Although this season is already looking great with several new shows to consider seeing, I have a feeling that War Paint is going to be one of several hits of the 2016-2017 Broadway Show season. That will make it three years in a row of successful show producing in New York. So much to see, something for everyone really.

Right now, my company Applause-Tickets, has access to War Paint discount tickets for performances through June 18, 2017. The War Paint discount tickets are open-ended but could be taken away if the show garners the great critic reviews that we anticipate. You can call the local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets at 212-307-7050, 365 days a year and 24/7. We are always here to talk Broadway and to help you obtain Broadway Show tickets for the show of your choosing.

I'd like to wish the creative team and talented cast of War Paint the very best success as they look to shine on the Broadway stage this season.

Disney's Aladdin Now In It's Fourth Hit Year On Broadway

AladdinHas it really been four years since Aladdin took Broadway by storm? Time sure does fly. The show, which continues to delight audiences eight times a week at the New Amsterdam Theatre, is the perfect show for the whole family.

Now I'll admit that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. However there is no denying the success they have had all these years. Now for those of you who still haven't seen Aladdin yet, I have some great news. Now is the best time to see one of Broadway's most popular shows.

Oh and did I mention that we sell it? Well we do. In fact we even sell tickets for the London production as well. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Miss Saigon Back On Broadway-Starts Previews on March 1, 2017

Miss Saigon, one of my all-time favorite shows ever, will begin preview performances on Wednesday March 1, 2017 after an incredibly successful run in London. This musical revival will officially open to critics reviews on March 23, 2017 at New York's Broadway Theater, the theatre where it first opened in 1991. It will be a somewhat limited engagement and play until January 14, 2017.

This revival of Miss Saigon is based on the opera Madame Butterfly and will star the two lead actors that were recently in the London production. They are Jon Jon Briones, an actor from the Phillipines and and American actress named Eva Noblezada. They will both appear for the first time on Broadway.

Miss Saigon takes place in 1975 as the Vietnam War is winding down and in its final days. An American G.I. by the name of Chris meets and falls for a young 17 year old Vietnamese bar girl by the name of Kim. As the country begins to fall, Chris and Kim get separated. Chris returns home to the U.S. and years later makes his way back to find Kim. For three years Kim goes through very difficult times trying to survive and find Chris again, who also has no idea that he is now a father.

The London Telegraph's theatre critic Dominic Cavendish, is quoted in 2016 as saying "not only one of the most innovative shows of the last quarter century, but one of the most profound and lasting great musicals of the twentieth century. There is something in the air which means that Miss Saigon is not only right to come back, but it is urgent and necessary that it come back now."

If you are interested in obtaining Miss Saigon tickets at the Broadway Theatre, you might consider a call to the local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets in New York City. Right now, we have access to Miss Saigon discount tickets for the next few months, especially some orchestra seats that are toward the back of the theater but with a completely full view of the stage. Personally, I prefer the front mezzanine seats. Although they may cost a little more, the view is going to be fantastic for sure.

Miss Saigon is one of the most epic love stories ever shown in the live theatre. If you want to see something very special on Broadway, we'd love to assist you in making plans to purchase Miss Saigon tickets in the days ahead.

Thanks for taking a moment or two to read the Applause Ticket News blog posts that my colleague James William Bruce and I write on a daily basis. Cheers and best of luck to the cast and creative team at Miss Saigon, which will start previews on Wednesday March 1, 2017.

Significant Other, A New Play, Arrives On Broadway

The Roundabout Theatre Company is very well known for bringing fantastic, often original work to the Broadway Theatre in New York. Last week, Roundabout's new play, Significant Other, began at the Booth Theatre on February 14, 2017.

Significant Other tells the funny and heartwarming story of a young man by the name of Jordan Berman, who begins to question why all of his best friends are finding their "significant other", one by one and that he cannot seem to do the same. He wants to find "the one" also at this point in his life. It seems odd to Jordan that everyone else is headed for the alter and he can't seem to find a romantic connection.

Significant Other is a new play that comes to Broadway after a sold out run Off Broadway and aims to please. The show is written by Joshua Harmon, author of Bad Jews, which played the Off Broadway theatre scene quite some time ago.

Last year, Roundabout Theatre Company brought to New York, another original play called The Humans, a great show that won a Tony Award for Best Play of 2017. I saw it and it was something to remember for sure.

Charles Isherwood of The New York Times called Significant Other "richly funny & heart stirring". Right now, my company Applause-Tickets is offering orchestra and mezzanine seats at a significant discount from our regular pricing.

If Significant Other is a show that you may want to see, we welcome you to call the local Broadway experts at Applause-Tickets at 212-307-7050. Applause-Tickets is open 365 days a year and 24/7.

Won't you consider taking your "significant other" to see Broadway's Significant Other? It sounds like a fun show to see.

We welcome your calls anytime you want to talk about Significant Other tickets or Broadway tickets for any of the nearly 40 shows playing in New York City.

I hope you enjoyed this post.

Broadway Revival Of Sunday In The Park With George Opens Tonight

Sunday in the Park with GeorgeI still can't believe this show is actually happening. Never in my wildest dreams did I ever think I would see one of my favorite shows back on Broadway. Yet here we are nine years after the last Broadway revival, and Sunday In The Park With George is back on the Great White Way where it belongs.

Not only that, but it is starring Academy Award nominee Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford. Now do you see why I am so excited? The show. which officially opens tonight at the recently reopened Hudson Theatre, will play a limited engagement thru April 23. That's a little over eight weeks for those of you keeping count.

Now I know what you're thinking. Can you get tickets? Yes you can. Are they cheap? Actually they are not as expensive as you would think. After all it's not Hamilton or Hello Dolly. The good thing is it's not a big theatre. That means all the seats are good. Get your tickets to see Sunday In The Park With George on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Winner Audra McDonald To Star In Lady Day At Emersons Bar And Grill In London

Related imageExciting news theatre fans. One of Broadway's most beloved star's is heading to the West End. Audra McDonald, who has won a record breaking six Tony Awards, is set to star in Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill in London at the Wyndhams Theatre.

Performances are scheduled to begin on June 17, and run thru September 9. The show, which won Ms. McDonald her sixth Tony Award in 2014, is set in Philadelphia in 1959, and tells the story of legendary jazz singer Billy Holiday and the songs that made her famous.

Now I'll be honest, when it was first announced that she was playing Billy Holiday, I wasn't sure if she could pull it off. I guess I should learn never to doubt the talents of the one and only Audra McDonald. Now for those of you looking for tickets to see this show you have come to the right place. We sell it.

Sara Bareilles To Join Broadway Production Of Waitress

Sara BareillesWell it was bound to happen I guess. After all she did write the music and lyrics for the Tony nominated musical. Sara Bareilles, the six-time Grammy nominated singer, is set to make her Broadway debut in the role of Jenna in Waitress.

The show, which recouped it's entire investment in ten months, continues to delight audiences eight times a week on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre.

Not only that, but the day after she was announced, the show sold over a million dollars in tickets. Pretty impressive don't you think? Ms. Bareilles is scheduled to begin performances on March 26, and will continue thru June 11 for a total of ten weeks. Sunset Boulevard on Broadway Aims To Please In Its Revival Engagement This Spring

It's an exciting time on Broadway again. So many new and some, not so new "revival" shows have started or will start preview performances on The Great White Way in the coming days ahead.

One of my favorite all-time shows is Sunset Boulevard, which I saw for the first time about 20 years ago. Last week I caught a preview performance of Sunset Boulevard at New York's Palace Theater and it is still one of the great shows of all time. Glenn Close, nearly 70 years old now is better than ever with a voice that carried to the top of the theater quite easily. Let's just say, Ms. Close has gotten better with age. She plays all but forgotten silent film star Norma Desmond who lives in the past and has delusions of making a big comeback. Ms. Close won a Best Actress Tony Award for her original role in the show years back and should easily win again, this time for Best Actress in a Musical Revival. The show opened last week to very good reviews and is a limited engagement running for 16 weeks only after a limited run in London's West End.

One of the famous lyrics, "it's as if we never said goodbye" is exactly how I felt seeing this fantastic show again. All these many years later, Sunset Boulevard remains a relevant piece of the theater world.

Need Sunset Boulevard tickets? Consider a call to the local Broadway ticket experts at Applause-Tickets in New York City. Applause can assist with an extensive inventory of ticket options.

Wishing the best of luck and great success to the cast and creative team of Sunset Boulevard at New York City's Palace Theater.

Hello Dolly On Broadway

Hello Dolly! TicketsNow unless you've been living under a rock for the past nine months, you know that Hello Dolly is headed back to Broadway. Not only that, but it is starring the one and only Bette Midler. The show, which sold over nine million dollars on it's first day of sale, is set to begin previews at the historic Shubert Theatre on March 15, with opening night scheduled for April 20.

Starring along side the Divine Miss M is Tony and Emmy Award winner David Hyde Pierce as Horace Vandergelder. Sounds like good casting to me. Please note that while Bette Midler is scheduled to perform in the show thru January 14, 2018, she is scheduled to miss the following performances.

June 27-July 2
July 5-9
July 30 7:30pm
September 6-10
October 15 7:30pm
October 30-November 5
November 24 2pm
January 7

Filling in for Bette is two-time Tony Award winner Donna Murphy ( Passion, The King and I). Also note that beginning on June 13, Ms. Murphy will be performing the role of Dolly Levi on Tuesday evening performances. Now while I realize people are coming to see the show because of Bette, Donna Murphy is a fantastic actress in her own right, and should be incredible in the role. Get your tickets to see Bette Midler in Hello Dolly at the Shubert Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Radio City Summer Spectacular Postponed

Now I'll admit that it takes a lot to shock me. But I am shocked by this news theatre fans. It was recently announced, that this year's edition of the New York Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes has decided to cancel this year's production. The reason for the cancellation was due to the show needing more work. Despite the cancellation, the producers of the show still plan to bring it back next year. Plus the Rockettes are scheduled to perform at this year's Tony Awards, which are being held once again at the world famous Radio City Music Hall. Here's hoping the show returns next year even better than before. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Revival Of Sunday In The Park With George Now In Previews

Sunday in the Park with GeorgeHard to believe that it's been almost nine years since the last revival of Sunday In The Park With George. Now while I enjoy the work of Stephen Sondheim, I do not care for all of his shows. Although I will say that Company is one of my favorite shows of all time.

So imagine my surprise when I received tickets to see the first Broadway revival of Sunday In The Park With George in the Spring of 2008. Now bear in mind the ticket was free. Therefore if I didn't like it, at least I wasn't out any money. Cut to two and a half hours later, and I knew I had just been witness to one of the greatest shows that I had ever seen.
Somehow I don't think I'll be getting free tickets to see this one. Oh well. I guess I'll just have to buy a ticket to see it. The show, which began previews last night at the Hudson Theatre will officially open on February 23, and play thru April 23. That is ten weeks for those of you keeping count. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal and Tony Award winner Annaleigh Asford, Sunday In The Park With George is one show you do not want to miss theatre fans.

It was also recently announced by the producers of the show, that the production will not be submitted for award eligibility sue to it's limited run. Pretty noble I have to say, as the show was sure to be a big contender during award season. Either way it is sure to be one of this season's biggest hits. Now is The Best Time To Get Tickets To See The Book Of Mormon

The Book of MormonHard to believe that in a matter of weeks, The Book of Mormon will celebrate it's seventh year on Broadway. Time sure does fly. Now when the show first opened back in March 2011, tickets were flying out the door. Now don't get me wrong. The show is still one of the most popular shows on the Great White Way.

It's just that it is a little easier to get into than it used to be. Plus since it is one of Broadway's smallest theatres, there is literally not a bad seat in the house. Who doesn't love that? The show, which won nine 2011 Tony Awards, including Best Musical of the Year, is currently on sale thru October 8.

Not only that, but we are selling tickets for it. In fact we also sell tickets for the show in London, as well. Who knew? Get your tickets to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

George Orwell's 1984 Is Headed To The Great White Way

1984 TicketsThat's right theatre fans. One of last season's most celebrated plays in London is heading to the Great White Way. George Orwell's 1984, which opened to critical acclaim last Summer, is scheduled to open on Broadway at the new refurbished Hudson Theatre on June 22. The book, which was first published in 1949, is one of the most celebrated and best known novels of all time. So what is it all about? Well I'll tell you.

Winston Smith is a low ranking member of London's ruling Party, which prohibits not only free thought and sex, but basically any expression of individuality. This of course does not sit well with the leader of the Party, AKA Big Brother, who orders that Winton be followed day and night via a specially designed telescreen.

Understandably this also does not sit well with Winton, who proceeds to write his thought's in an illegal diary. One day he receives a note from a dark haired girl that simply says, "I love you." They soon begin a secret affair all the while trying to avoid the watchful eye of the Party.

Soon there after he is summoned to meet with O'Brien, who is rumored to be a high ranking member of the Party. O'Brien encourages him to confront his greatest fear. He soon discovers that the thing he fears the most is not what he thought at all.

Well I'm intrigued. How about you? Tickets for the show are scheduled to go on sale in the coming months. Not only that, but we will be selling it. Get your tickets to see George Orwell's 1984 on Broadway at the Hudson Theatre. I can't wait. Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Revival Of The Glass Menagerie Begins Performances Tonight

The Glass MenagerieThat's right theatre fans. One of the theatre's greatest plays is back where it belongs. The Glass Menagerie, which was written by Tennessee Williams, begins previews tonight at the Belasco Theatre. Not only that, but it is starring two-time Academy Award winner Sally Field as Amanda Wingfield.

Now as most of you know, The Glass Menagerie was just on Broadway a few years ago. So why the need for another one so soon? Well I guess when Sally Field says she wants to do a show, no one is going to say no. The show, which officially opens on March 9, is being directed by Tony winner Sam Gold (Fun Home), also stars Tony winner Joe Mantello, as well as Finn Wittrock (American Horror Story) and Broadway newcomer Madison Ferris.

Quite the cast don't you think? But wait. It gets better. It is now possible to get tickets to see this American classic at some incredible rates. Clive Owen To Headline Broadway Revival Of M. Butterfly

M. Butterfly poster image.Exciting news theatre fans. One of the theatre's most celebrated play's is heading back to Broadway for the first time since it's acclaimed 1988 production. The show, which will star Academy Award nominee Clive Owen, is set to open on October 26 at a Broadway theatre to be announced.

Directing the David Henry Hwang play is Tony winner Julie Taymor (The Lion King). Now I never saw the show, as I was not living in New York at the time. I did however read the play and found it to be one of the most compelling and powerful plays that I have ever encountered.

It was also reported, that Mr. Hwang will be updating the show complete with new material, which tells the story of the real life love affair between French diplomat Bernard Boursicot and Chinese opera singer Shi Pei Pu. Here's hoping it's a hit. Stay tuned to this blog site for more info in the coming months. Until next time theatre fans.
