How to Find the Best Deals on Broadway Theatre Tickets

Find out all the tricks of the trade and secrets of the industry at Applause-Tickets.com!
Great Deals on Broadway Theatre Tickets
In today’s economic climate, it can often seem impossible to be able to do anything worthwhile with your family. Every trip, every dinner, every attraction can seem to drain your wallet to the point of panic. At Applause Tickets, we want to help the Broadway lovers out there in this time of financial instability. We believe that Broadway theatre tickets don’t have to be associated with impossibly high prices. Being Broadway experts and New York City locals, we have access to the best deals in the country. We do the behind the scenes work to find you Broadway theatre tickets at below face value prices.

Here’s how it works:
Like any relatively small industry, Broadway is incredibly tight knit. All of the theatre owners and managers have known each other for years. Being 20 year local ticket broker veterans, Applause Tickets knows these owners and managers as well and when shows have extra tickets, we are one of the first people to find out about it. Having an excess number of tickets to a show means that a theatre is willing to sell those tickets for discounted prices to us. We then pass those savings directly onto you – ensuring that you are getting the absolute best deal on tickets to shows that are usually priced much higher.

From week to week, we don’t always know which shows are going to have below face value priced Broadway theatre tickets. This is why it is especially important that you call us before making a decision about which show to see. Applause Tickets’ live operators are seasoned Broadway experts. They can help you pick out the perfect show that you may never have even heard of, ensuring that you are getting the best price for a show that you are guaranteed to love.

Don’t waste your time trying to figure out which show to see all on your own. Call us at 1-800-451-9930 today to begin planning a day or evening that you will remember forever.

Five People you Should Buy Broadway Tickets for This Year

Broadway Tickets are a great gift for anyone. Applause-Tickets.com has some ideas on who should receive the gift of Broadway this year.

Give the Gift of Broadway Tickets
Birthdays. Bat Mitzvahs. Thank Yous. I’m Sorrys. I love yous. Just because. All of these are reasons to give gifts. Choosing an occasion isn’t the hard part of giving gifts. Choosing the right gift is the hard part. Applause Tickets believes that everyone should give the gift of Broadway tickets this year. Going to a Broadway show is an experience unlike any other on earth. You simply can’t go wrong when you give someone tickets to a show – it’s an evening they will never forget.

Now that you have the occasion and the gift in mind, it’s time to start figuring out whom to give Broadway tickets to this year. Here are some ideas:
  1. Your mother. Yes, it’s an obvious choice but whom better to give something so special to than the woman who loves you more than anyone else on earth? Nothing says “Thank you for everything” like a couple of tickets to Promises Promises or Driving Miss Daisy.
  2. Your employee. Buying gifts for employees can be tough. You don’t want to be too personal or too generic. That’s why the gift of Broadway tickets is a perfect compromise. If you don’t know them well enough to buy tickets to a specific show, get them an Applause Tickets gift card!
  3. Your hairdresser. It might seem overly generous to give the gift of Broadway tickets to your hairdresser but we don’t think so at all. Your hairdresser works hard every 6 to 8 weeks to make you look your absolute best. Don’t they deserve the best as well?
  4. Your best friend. Your best friend is probably one of those people who are always thinking of the best, most original gifts to give to their friends. It’s time to give them something that is just as thoughtful and original this year – Broadway tickets. If you get them two tickets, they might even take you with them!
  5. Your boyfriend. He might not seem like the most obvious choice as a chosen recipient for Broadway tickets as most men scorn all things theatre. Use this opportunity to enlighten him on just how incredible Broadway can be – when you choose the right show.

Now you’re ready to give the gifts of Broadway tickets. If you need help picking out the perfect show for your chosen recipient, call one of the experts at Applause Tickets today – or buy an Applause Tickets gift card so they can go to any show of their choosing.

Top Three Reasons to get Broadway Tickets for your Kids

Broadway has more reasons than ever to take your children to see a show. Find out the top reasons your kids will love their first Broadway show at Applause-Tickets.com.

Broadway Tickets for Kids
In today’s world, kids are seriously starved for culture and non television-based activities. It can feel like World War Three every time you try to get them to drop the video game remote controls. With so many of a child’s entertainment options based in electronics – video games, computer games, television – many parents are forgetting that there are other activities out there that your children will love; if you’d only give them a chance.

Tickets to a Broadway show might not seem like the most obvious choice in activities for children. Many parents associate Broadway with long, overly dramatic shows with complicated plots and adult themes. You’ll be happy to hear that this is simply no longer the case! Many of today’s shows are kid AND adult friendly. Here are the top three reasons why you should buy Broadway tickets for your kids:
  1. Disney. Makes. Musicals. No, I’m not kidding. We’re talking some of the most beloved Disney movies of all time come to life on stage. Mary Poppins and The Lion King are the two current shows playing on Broadway and they are not only kid friendly but absolutely incredible productions.
  2. Cultural activities are good for developing minds. Developing a love for theatre at a young age will ensure that your children will spend their whole lives seeking new and different shows to see – on their own. Without this exposure at a young age, they might never know the incredible joys of a Broadway show. Plus, that first show might just inspire a career goal!
  3. Broadway makes memories. Getting Broadway tickets is buying a pass to an entire afternoon or evening experience. The act of going to some of the grandest, most beautiful theatres in the world is something that your children will never forget.
Do your family a favor and buy Broadway tickets for a fun and unique family activity. Your children will be experiencing something unlike anything they’ve ever seen, felt, or heard before. You’ll be amazed at how much they love it. Call Applause Tickets today at 1-800-451-9930 to speak to one of our Broadway experts about which show you should take your family to see.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Tampa,Florida. Now as much as I love New York Tampa sounds pretty good right about now. New York is cold. Early last week I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a last minute trip to New York with her family. Since her date of arrival was in less than a week she was concerned that there wouldn't be any tickets left for the shows that she wanted to see. I told her not to worry since she was coming in on a Monday and it would not be as hectic as a weekend. Plus she picked two shows that had plenty of availability. Her first choice was Billy Elliot. Now while the show continues to be one of Broadway's biggest seller's it is pretty easy to get seats during the week.

Not only that but at a price that is lower than usual. After selecting the date I was able to find her four nice seats in the Front Mezzanine for $110 each. Which is case you didn't know is below face value. Well she loved that. So now that the first show was all set it was time to take care of show number two. Care to guess what it could be? Why the Radio City Christmas Spectacular of course. Now while the show is a favorite during the holiday season it is not the big seller it once was. I'm guessing the economy has something to do with that. Anyway I was able to find her four excellent seats in the 2nd Mezzanine at a low rate as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Wicked has been seen by over 3.75 million people on Broadway since it opened in October 2003. That’s about twice the population of Manhattan.

Over 4 million additional people have seen Wicked on its North American tour. This isn’t even counting the semi-permanent shows that took place in Chicago and Los Angeles. These three shows combined have all broken attendance records in nearly every major city in North America.

It’s not just Americans who love Wicked – the show has sold out in London, Australia, Germany, Japan, and the Netherlands.

People just can’t get enough of Gregory Maguire’s Wizard of Oz story of Glinda the not-as-good-as-you-think witch and Elphaba, the unfortunately hued witch who gets a bad rap from the Wizard of Oz. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Isanti,Minnesota. Don't feel bad. I've never heard of that town before either. So anyway earlier this week I received a call from a very nice gentleman who was surprising his wife with a trip to New York for the holidays and wanted to see a few shows while they were here. After finding out the dates that he was available I asked him what they wanted to see. His choices were Elf,The Lion King,Rain, and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Oh did I mention that he and his wife were coming during the holidays?

Now as we all know New York is very busy during that time of the year. That's probably why I escape to Illinois during that week. Well that and to visit my parent's of course. So now that I knew what he wanted to see I set out to find the tickets. Since he was coming in the day after Christmas I was able to get better seats and at prices that were lower than he was expecting. In fact I was able to get him great seats in the Front Mezzanine for Rain at "Below Face Value". Plus I was also able to get him even better seats for the other three shows as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

The Scottsboro Boys And Bloody,Bloody Andrew Jackson To Close In The Coming Weeks

Really? Two of this season's most acclaimed new musicals can't even last more than a couple of months? What is this business coming too? Now while I did not get the chance to see The Scottsboro Boys I did see Bloody,Bloody Andrew Jackson. I enjoyed it. Do I think it would have played better in a smaller house Off-Broadway? You bet. The thing is in you never can tell how a show is going to do these days. I take that back. If a show has a star than it is a pretty safe bet it will do well at the box office. That is unless your name is Brendan Fraser. Now before you go getting on my case I enjoyed Elling and I think that Mr. Fraser is a very underrated actor. The show just wasn't popular with the critics or theatregoers. It happens. The Scottsboro Boys is set to close on December 12 with Bloody,Bloody Andrew Jackson playing it's final performance on January 2, 2011. That makes a total of fourteen shows closing during the month of January. Yes I know that happens every year. Doesn't make it any less sad. Until next time theatre fans.

See Tony Winner La Cage Aux Folles For Below Face Value

That's right theatre lovers. Now is the best time to get your tickets to see La Cage Aux Folles. The show which won three 2010 Tony Awards including Best Musical Revival opened at the Longacre Theatre on April 18 following a sold out run at the Menier Chocolate Factory in London where it won the Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival. Headlining the new production are Emmy winner Kelsey Grammer as Georges and Tony winner Douglas Hodge as Albin who won both the Tony and Olivier Award for his performance as Albin. They are set to leave the show on February 13, 2011. Now I like most expected the show to close when they left.

However it looks as if the show is sticking around as it was recently announced that fellow Tony winner and author of the show's libretto Harvey Fierstein would be replacing Hodges in the role of Albin. Maybe the show has a life after all. By the way for those of you who want tickets to see this Tony winning farce you have come to the right place. From now thru December 19 you can tickets to see La Cage Aux Folles for prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not good for Saturday evening performances and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see La Cage Aux Folles on Broadway. You will love it.

Christmas Is Just Around The Corner

Still recovering from all that turkey you ate on Thanksgiving? Well get ready because Christmas is here folks. Yes I know we still have four more weeks but trust me. It will be here before you know it. In fact two days from now is the annual tree lighting ceremony at Rockefeller Center and Wednesday will mark the first day of Hanukkah. See I told you Christmas was just around the corner.

Now as we all know the holidays can be a stressful time. Not too mention expensive. The thing is is doesn't have to be. Believe it or not but the cost of a Broadway ticket isn't as much as you might think. Oh sure if you are the type of person that has to sit in the "First Ten Rows Center" then you better be prepared to pay up. However if you are like me and you don't care where you sit then you have come to the right place my friends.

Right now there are over twenty-five shows both on and Off-Broadway that you can see for......wait for it.....below face value. Let me guess. You think I've lost my mind right? Well if you don't believe me then just check out this link and see for yourself. Now who's the crazy one? Now in case your show isn't listed there it doesn't mean it''s not available. It just means that it will cost you a little more to see it. The choice is yours. Live theatre. There is nothing like it. Until next time theatre lovers.

Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark To Begin Previews Today

The wait is finally over. After years and years of delays everyone's favorite superhero is about to take the Great White Way by storm. O.K. I might be over exaggerating a little bit. It hasn't been delayed that long. It just feels like it. The show which was originally supposed to begin previews on November 14 is one of this season's most highly anticipated new shows as well as one of it's most controversial. The press has been having a field day with the show for months now and I expect that to continue in the coming weeks. Will the show surprise us all and become a hit?The truth is even if the show were to receive rave reviews it would still have to sell at full capacity for five years straight to make back it's investment. Look I for one hope it succeeds. Maybe if it does it will encourage more mainstream musicians like Bono and The Edge to try their luck on Broadway. Or the show will bomb so bad that not only will it scare away those types it will also show that millions of dollars and fancy acrobatics will not guarantee a hit or lots of awards come Tony time. We shall see. Can't wait for the reviews. Until next time.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Bozeman, Montana. Late last week I received a call from a travel agent who wanted to inquire about a few shows for one of her regular clients. Let me rephrase that. He wanted to see ten shows. Not only that but ten shows in five days. Now I love the theatre as much as the next guy but not even I would want to see that many shows in such a short amount of time. Now after perusing his list of shows I soon realized that he would probably have to cross a couple of shows off his list in order to make it work.

Since he had already seen Chicago and The Phantom of the Opera he decided he could skip those two this time around. Problem solved. So now that I had the shows and the dates it was time to put everything together. Since he didn't care which show he saw on what day it was left up to me to decide the order. Like I didn't already have enough pressure in my life already. To be honest it was a lot easier to figure out then I thought.

Tuesday was Chicago.Wednesday brought a double bill of West Side Story and Memphis as did Thursday with Promises,Promises and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Since he would have to do two shows on Saturday (A Little Night Music and Billy Elliot) I scheduled Mamma Mia for Friday night so he could have the afternoon free to check out the city and do some shopping. There are other things to do here besides theatre you know. So there you have it folks. Eight shows in less than a week. I'm getting tired just thinking about it. Until next time theatre fans.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

So here I sit on a cold Sunday morning at work trying to figure out something to blog about. To be honest there's not a lot going on as far as theatre goes. No surprise there as most of the big shows don't usually open until the Spring anyway. As of now there are fifteen new shows set to open between now and the end of April. Seven of those are new musicals.

The Book of Mormon
Catch Me If You Can
The People In The Picture
Priscilla Queen of the Desert
Sister Act
Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark
Wonderland

Pretty interesting line-up wouldn't you say? Now the truth is out of all of those shows the only one that I am really looking forward to is Spider-Man. Not because I think it will be any good but because I think it won't. I just love a good train wreck. The others I can take or leave. Oh sure The Book of Mormon is sure to be a laugh riot and Priscilla will be a major camp fest.

Who cares? I don't know about you but I am sick and tired of seeing big Hollywood movies turned into musicals. Where are the original ideas people? Where is the substance? What's next? Iron Man The Musical? Trust me. I'm sure somebody out there is already thinking about it. I'm done. Until next time theatre fans.

Tickets For Bengal Tiger At The Baghdad Zoo Starring Robin Williams Now On Sale

That's right theatre fans. One of this season's most highly anticipated new shows is now on sale. Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo which stars Academy and Emmy Award winner Robin Williams will begin previews at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on March 11, 2011 with opening night set for March 31.

The show which was a finalist for the 2010 Pulitzer Prize is described as a 'ferocious comedy that follows the intertwined lives of a tiger, two American marines and an Iraqi gardener as they roam the streets of Baghdad in search of friendship, redemption and a toilet seat made of gold."

Now I love Robin Williams as much as the next guy but Patch Adams as a tiger? Really? I don't know. The fact that the show was up for the Pulitzer Prize does give it a little credibility so maybe it will turn out to be good. We shall see. Get your tickets to see Bengal Tiger at the Baghdad Zoo. Catchy title isn't it? Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway Production Of Mary Poppins Celebrates Anniversary

That's right theatre fans. Broadway's most loved nanny is celebrating a milestone. Mary Poppins which is based on the series of children's books by P. L. Travers and the acclaimed 1964 film first opened in London in December 2004 prior to it's Broadway bow in November 2006. The show which continues to delight audiences of all ages eight times a week at the New Amsterdam Theatre remains one of Broadway's most popular shows. Plus being that there are very few kid friendly shows on Broadway these days you can bet that Mary Poppins will be here for a long time to come my friends.

Growing up as a child the film was always a favorite of mine so when the show was first announced I'll admit I wasn't sure if the stage version would live up to my expectations. Well as it turns out I was worried for nothing. I loved the show. Now for those of you out there who think the show is just for kids you would be wrong. Dead wrong. It's a show that whole family can enjoy. How many shows can say that? Get your tickets to see Mary Poppins on Broadway. You will have the time of your life.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Tennessee. Earlier in the week I received a call from a very nice lady who was looking for tickets for the end of the year. I asked her what she wanted to see and she told me that there were three shows that her and her family were hoping to see during their visit. Her first choice was the Radio City Christmas Spectacular.

I told her that since she was going after Christmas that not only would I be able to get her great seats but probably at a lower rate as well. So after taking care of her first show I asked her what she wanted to see next. She told me that although she needed five tickets for the Christmas Spectacular she would only need three tickets for the other two shows since the men were going to a basketball game instead.

I asked her if she needed any suggestions on what to see and she said that Promises,Promises was at the top of her list but needed help on picking the other show. I told her that although Promises,Promises was a very popular show I should be able to get her some very nice seats for that one as well. So now that show number two was set it was time to move on to her third and final show. Can you guess what I suggested? Why In The Heights of course.

Surprised aren't you?Now before you think I pushed the show on her because it is a favorite of mine you would be right. However a friend of hers had seen the show when it came to Orlando this past Spring and suggested she see it during her trip to New York. Since she had spent a little more to get a better seat for Promises,Promises she was hoping to see In The Heights for a lower price.

Having seen the show I told her that since the theatre is very small she should sit in the Rear Mezzanine as the price is lower and she would still have a very good view. Well she loved that. So there you are folks. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Tony Winner Chicago For Below Face Value This Fall

Now in it's fourteenth record breaking year on Broadway is Chicago. The show which first opened back on Broadway in 1975 is still one of Broadway's top selling shows. The truth is most shows are lucky enough to run for a few years so fourteen is a major accomplishment. In fact it will celebrate it's anniversary tomorrow. Having seen the show early in it's run I was blown away by it's simplicity and it's ability to tell a compelling story without a big fancy set or a bunch of lavish costumes.

Who says you have to spend millions of dollars to make a show a success? Yes Julie Taymor I am talking to you. By the way for those of you folks out there who want to see the show there is no better time than the present. From now thru February 6, 2011 you can get tickets to see this Tony winning musical at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for Saturday evening performances and subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Chicago on Broadway. It is theatre at it's finest.

The Lion KIng Celebrates Miletone

Has it really been 13 years since The Lion King opened on Broadway? Time sure does fly doesn't it? The show which first premiered in Minneapolis in July 1997 opened at the New Amsterdam Theatre on November 13, 1997 where it remained until June 2006 when it moved uptown three blocks to the Minskoff Theatre. Now those of you who read my blogs know that I am not a big fan of the show. To be honest I'm not a big fan of Disney on Broadway period. Now while I may not care for them they do have their place. After all if it wasn't for them most kids would never experience the thrill of seeing a Broadway show. For that reason alone they should be commended.

Happy Holidays From Applause Theatre Service

That's right folks. The holiday season is almost here. What better way to celebrate than by coming to New York and seeing a show. From dramas to to comedies, to plays or musicals there is something for everyone this year. Now as we all know no holiday would be complete without the Radio City Christmas Spectacular featuring the world famous Rockettes. The show which is now in it's 77th recording breaking year began performances last week and will run into the end of the year. Good seats are still available so call now. Your holidays will not be the same without it my friends.

Next up is Elf. This new musical which is based on the 2003 starring Will Farrell is now in previews at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre and will play thru January, 2, 2100. The movie is a personal favorite of mine and I hope that the show will be just as successful. Who knows? Broadway might have a new holiday tradition on their hands. Watch out Rockettes. Buddy the Elf is on your tail. This winter will mark the final year for Cirque de Soleil's Wintuk.
This winterland extravaganza will play thru January 2,2011 at the Theatre at Madison Square Garden.

Now I never bought into the whole Cirque de Soleil phenomenon. It just doesn't do it for me. However there is no denying their success over the years. A perennial holiday favorite is George Balanchine’s The Nutcraker. I remember seeing this as a young child during my first trip to New York City and it was an experience that I would never forget. If you get the chance to see it I highly recommend it. Last but not least is Donny and Marie: A Broadway Christmas. Now I'll admit that I chuckled a little bit when this was first announced.

Not that I mind them. In fact I used to watch them when I was a kid. I just never expected to see them in a big Broadway show in 2010.Well evidently I was wrong as they just announced today that the show has been extended for an additional nine performances for a total of 21. Performances are set to begin at the Marquis Theatre on December 9 and will run thru December 30. So there you have it folks. Which one will you choose? Why not see them all? After all Christmas only happens once a year. Until next time theatre fans.

Get Tickets To See The Big Apple Circus

Now in it's 33rd year the Big Apple Circus continues to thrill and enchant audiences of all ages. One of my most cherished memories growing up as a kid in Illinois was going to the circus with my Mom and Dad. Even after all these years the mere mention of a circus puts a smile on my face. Although I haven't had the chance to see the Big Apple Circus I hope that one day soon I will be able to share it with my own children. I know that it will be a memory that they will cherish as much as I will.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the Lone Star State. Dallas to be exact. Now I myself have never been to Texas. In fact the only time I ever leave New York City is to visit my parent's in Illinois. Other than that I pretty much stay put. So anyway last week I received a call from a regular customer of mine who was looking to bring the whole family into New York and was wanted to take in a couple of show while they were here.I asked her what she wanted to see and she was hoping to get tickets to see Memphis and La Cage Aux Follles but was worried that they might be difficult to get since both won the Tony Awards.

I reassured that even though both shows were very popular I should still be able to get her seats and maybe at an "Insider Price". For those of you that may not be familiar with that term it basically means that we have access to seats that are lower than what you could get them for at the box office. Sounds like one heck of a deal right? So after finding out how many tickets she wanted and the dates they were here I went to work on getting her the best deal. Since she wasn't coming during a hectic time of the year I was able to get her great seats for both shows and at a price that was lower than we were both expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Save On Tony Winner Billy Elliot This Fall

Still haven't seen Billy Elliot yet? Well there is no better time than the present. The show which won ten 2009 Tony Awards including Best Musical continues to be one of Broadway's hottest shows with sales reaching over a million dollars a week. Now believe it or not but I have never seen the show or the hit movie it is based on. I'm sure it's good. The show didn't win all those awards for nothing. I just don't have any desire to see it that's all. Trust me. Elton John and the producers of the show aren't losing any sleep at night because one little ticket broker hasn't seen their show. Now for those of you who do want to see the show you have come to the right place. From now thru the end of the year you can get tickets to see this Tony winning musical at prices that can't beat. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for November 26-28 and December 19-January 2,2011. Get your tickets to see Billy Elliot on Broadway. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Down Under. That's right folks. I am talking about none other than Sydney, Australia. This past Friday a couple from Australia came up to our office looking for tickets to a Broadway show. Now with most ticket brokers in New York they don't have an office that you can just pop in to inquire about tickets.

You have to call. That is not the case with Applause. Our doors are open seven days a week. 365 days a year. Feel free to stop by anytime. Now enough self-promotion. Back to the reason for today's blog. Having never been to New York before our new friends from Down Under wanted to see as much as they could while they were here but not have to mortgage their house to do it.

I told them that not only could I get them good seats but at prices that are lower than they could get anywhere else. The shows that they wanted to see were In The Heights, Memphis, Million Dollar Quartet, and Promises, Promises. All good choices I think. Anyway since they were here for a week I went ahead and selected the dates where they would get the best seats and at the best prices. Four great shows. Four amazing prices. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Now Is The Best Time To See A Show

No plans for Halloween? Nothing to do on a Friday or Saturday night? Why not see a show? Better yet why not see two shows? Now I know better than anyone that going to a show can be expensive. The thing is it doesn't have to be. Right now there are over thirty shows both on and Off-Broadway that you can see at prices that are below face value. I mean come on.Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do.

Oh sure you may not be able to see Wicked or The Lion King for those kind of prices but there are other shows out there you know. Don't forget Off-Broadway. Believe it or not but Off-Broadway has been a major force on the New York theatre scene for fifty or more years. Where else could you see something as unique like Blue Man Group or Stomp but Off-Broadway. Yes I know both shows have been playing at theaters around the world for years but you know what I mean.

In fact this season alone there are two new musicals that first premiered Off-Broadway before making it's way uptown. Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson and The Scottsboro Boys. Don't forget that Tony winners Fela and In The Heights were Off-Broadway hits as well prior to their acclaimed runs on the Great White Way. Will lighting strike twice? Who knows. The thing is whether it's uptown or downtown there is always something to see. That's what makes New York City great. There truly is something for everybody. LIVE THEATRE. There is nothing like it.

Chat Live With An Applause Customer Service Rep Today

A Live Chat? Really? Now why would you want to do that? Now I'll be honest when my boss first brought up this new idea a couple of years ago I wasn't sure what to think. Now I personally like to do most of my purchasing on the computer. I usually don't need to speak to a live person unless there is a problem. Assuming most people are like me you probably feel the same way. Well let's say for a moment that you are a work and you don't have time to talk on the phone but you still have a question. That's where Boldchat comes in handy. Just log on to http://www.applause-tickets.com/ and click on the Need Help box in the upper right hand corner and your chat will begin. It's as simple as that. Plus you can also order tickets on here as well. Who says buying tickets on the computer has to be difficult? At Applause we make it easy for you. Why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did.

Tickets For The Broadway Production Of Priscilla Queen Of The Desert Now On Sale

That's right theater fans. One of this season's most highly anticipated shows is now on sale. Priscilla Queen of the Desert the new musical based on the cult 1994 film is set to begin previews at the the Palace Theatre on February 28, with opening night set for March 20. The show which first premiered in October 2006 at the Lyric Theatre in Sydney, Australia and enjoyed a two year run also opened in London in March 2009 where it received rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Prior to it's Broadway premier it is playing a twelve week out-of-town engagement in Toronto at the Princess of Wales of Theatre. Now while I enjoyed the movie when I saw it some14 years ago I have to say I don't remember much about except it involved three drag queens travelling thru Australia in old run down bus and featured a bunch of songs from the 1970's. Now my coworker Todd who saw a presentation of it last month thinks it will do very well here. In fact he producers of the show are convinced that if done right it could be the next Mamma Mia. We shall see. Get your tickets to see Priscilla Queen of the Desert on Broadway. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there.

Nine Years And Counting And Mamma Mia Is Still Going Strong

Nine years? Impossible you say. It seems like just yesterday that Mamma Mia first opened on Broadway. Time sure does fly doesn't it? Now for those of you who read my blogs know that I have never seen the show. In fact I have never been inside the Wintergarden Theatre. You see even though I have lived here for almost 19 years there have only been two shows at that theatre. Mamma Mia and Cats which I managed to avoid during my first eight years in the city. So until another show moves in there I guess I will never see the inside of that theatre. Why do I have a feeling I will be waiting a long time? Anyway it doesn't matter what I think. The show is here to stay my friends. Not even I can prevent that from happening. Now while I myself have no desire to the show there are plenty of people who do. In fact according to the show's website Mamma Mia has been seen by over 42 million people since it first premiered in the West End in 1999. I guess you could say the show has a few fans huh? I'm just not one of them. Until next time theatre fans.

New Broadway Musical The Scottsboro Boys To Open This Sunday

Now I'll admit. I really don't know that much about The Scottsboro Boys other that it got great reviews during it's Off-Broadway run earlier this year. That is why it's coming to Broadway. The show which first premiered at the Vineyard Theatre on February 2010 tells the story of nine African-American teenagers who were accused of raping two white women on a freight train to Memphis, Tennessee. Doesn't exactly scream Broadway musical now does it? At least it's not a cartoon right? Now don't get me wrong. I have heard nothing but good things about this show and being a composer myself I am looking forward to seeing it. Not only that but it is one of the final collaborations between the Tony winning team of Kander and Ebb prior to Mr. Ebbs passing in 2004. That alone should be reason enough to see it. Until next time theatre fans.

2010 Tony Award Winner Memphis Now On Sale Thru July 2011

That's right theatre fans. This years Tony winner for Best Musical is now on sale thru next Summer. The show which also took home the Tonys for Best Book and Best Score is one of Broadway's most popular shows with sales reaching almost a million dollars a week at the box office. Now believe it or not but Memphis was not always like that. Sure the show got great reviews but it was only until after they took theatre's most coveted prize did sales go thru the roof. In fact I must get at least ten or more calls a day from people who are dying to see the show. That's what happens when you win the Tony. People have to see what all the fuss is about.

The show which recently celebrated it's one year anniversary on Broadway is a sure fire crowd pleaser that I'm sure will be around for years to come. By the way for those of you who haven't seen the show I have some great news. Wicked To Celebrate Seven Years On Broadway

Has it really been seven years since Wicked opened on the Great White Way? Now I'll admit that in all the years that I have been working in the ticket industry I have never seen anything like Wicked. Not only does it sell out nightly on Broadway but at theatres around the world. Even The Producers which swept the awards at the 2001 Tony Awards only sold out when Matthew Broderick and Nathan Lane were in the show. After that they were lucky to sell out most nights let alone have the type of worldwide success that Wicked had since it opened in October 2003. Now with all this talk you're probably thinking that tickets are hard to come by right? On the contrary. In fact good seats are available for most performance thru the end of the year. Get your tickets to see Wicked on Broadway or when it comes to a city near you. You will love it.

Elf To Begin Performances On Broadway Next Week

Admit it folks. Who out there didn't laugh your a** of when you first saw the movie Elf? I know my coworker Todd Freeman didn't. You see he's not a big fan of Will Farrell like I am. Now I loved the movie. In fact I watch it every year at Christmas time. However this year will be different. This year instead of camping out in front of the television with my friends eating leftovers and watching the movie I will be at the Al Hirscfeld Theatre watching Elf live on stage. Oh and case you didn't know it's a musical. The show which begins previews on November 2 is scheduled to run thru January 2, 2001. If reviews are good don't be surprised to see it back next year. I for one can't want to see how they pull it off. Get your tickets to see Elf on Broadway. Good seats are still available so call now.

In The Heights To Play It's Final Performance On Broadway January 9, 2011

Sad news theatre fans. Today it was announced that In The Heights , the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical will close on January 9, 2011. When it closes it will have played a total of 29 previews and 1,185 regular performances. Now for those of you who read my blogs you know how much I love this show. In fact when I heard it was closing I ran down to the Richard Rodgers Theatre and bought a ticket for the final performance.

I guess you could say that it was my Christmas present to myself. It was also announced that it's original star and co-creator Lin-Manuel Miranda will return to the show for it's final two weeks beginning on December 25. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show yet I strongly suggest you do before it closes. It is a must see for anyone who loves the theatre. Get your tickets today before it is too late. Time is running out.

Buying Broadway Tickets On The Web

With the holiday season fast upon us I'm sure most of you have already begun shopping for your friends and loved ones. I myself have been on Amazon.com piratically non-stop for the past few weeks and I still haven't made up my mind. Thank goodness I still have another month or so. Now if you are like me you like to take your time before making a big purchase. Makes sense right?

After all you've worked hard all year in order to give that special person in your life something that they will cherish for years to come. It's the same when buying tickets online to a Broadway show. Let's be honest. There are hundreds of sites out there that sell tickets. We are just one of many. Now I could go on and on an do all I can to convince you to buy your tickets from Applause Theatre Service.

What kind of businessman would I be if I didn't? The truth is if you want to find the best deal you have to shop around. Rarely do you find what you are looking on the first site you check out. I know I don't. I say take your time. Shop around. Then decide what works best for you. It's your money after all. Until next time theatre fans.

Avenue Q Celebrates First Year Off-Broadway

Wait a minute. Isn't Avenue Q a Broadway show? I mean it did beat the all mighty Wicked for Best Musical in 2004 after all. No your eyes are not deceiving you. Following a six year run on Broadway the show moved to a theatre Off-Broadway in October 2009. Most people forget that the show originally premiered Off-Broadway at the Vineyard Theatre prior to it's Broadway bow in August 2003. Now can you name any other shows that have a had a history like that? I sure can't.

Now here we are over seven years later and the show is still going strong with no end in sight. In fact to this day it is still one of the funniest shows that I have ever seen on or Off-Broadway. Not only that but it was my parent's first show on Broadway and they still tall about it some six years later. I guess you could say they liked it huh? Now for those of you who haven't seen the show I highly suggest you check it out next time you are here. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theatre fans.

Rain To Open Tonight On Broadway

Calling all Beatles fanatics. I mean who out there doesn't love the Beatles? Doesn't matter if you are young or old you all know the songs. Am I right? The show which has been touring the country to packed houses began previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on October 19 prior to it's opening tonight. As of now the show is scheduled to play thru January 9, 2011 but it would not surprise me if the extended it a few more weeks. By the way if you are looking to get tickets to the show I have some great news. From now thru November 21 you can get tickets to see Rain for prices that are below face value. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is for select seats and subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rain: A Tribute To The Beatles on Broadway. Oh sure it may not be the real thing but it's pretty darn close.

Let me ask you a question. Who out there ever thought that they would hear the words Pee-wee Herman and Broadway in the same sentence? Come on everybody. Raise your hands. O.K. you can put them down now. Well believe it or not but Pee-wee Herman is starring in a Broadway show. Granted it's his show and not The Phantom of the Opera. Although that would be interesting now wouldn't it?

The show which played a prior engagement early this year at the Music Box Theatre in Hollywood begins previews tonight at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre with opening night set for November 11. Now I don't know about you but I can't wait to see this show. In fact I'm seeing it this Sunday. Now that's how you celebrate Halloween my friends. By the way for those of you who want to see the show you have come to the right place.

Good seats are available for most performances. In fact if you call now we can get you tickets to see Pee-wee at some incredible savings. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is only good thru November 10 and not good for Saturday evenings. Get your tickets to see The Pee-wee Herman Show on Broadway. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Atlanta, Georgia. Now believe it or not but we get a lot of calls from that state. I guess they don't have much theatre in the Peach State. So anyway I received a call from one of my long time customers who was bringing his daughter into New York for Thanksgiving and wanted to take her to see Spider-Man.

Now unless you've been living under a rock for the last couple of years this new musical based on the the Marvel Comics superhero will open on Broadway this December at the newly named Foxwoods Theatre. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the theatre it is huge with a seating capacity of 1829.

Making it the second largest theatre on Broadway. The Gershwin (Wicked) is the biggest. So anyway after choosing a show and date I set off in search for tickets. Luckily he trusts me and let me choose the seats for him as I have been in this theatre many times over the years. Now us most people know that all Broadway theatres except for the Circle In The Square have both an Orchestra and a Mezzanine.

The Foxwoods has a balcony as well. That is why it is so big. However the producers of Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark decided to be clever and rename the Mezzanine the Flying Circle. Clever huh? Since I haven't seen the show I decided to put him in Row V of the Orchestra as I have sat there before and even though he would in the back at least he would be in the center. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Wicked New York – Still the Biggest and Most Popular Show on Broadway

Wicked is still the hottest show on Broadway. Don’t miss your chance to see what everyone is talking about. Find out more at Applause-Tickets.com!

Wicked Broadway Show
Perhaps we shouldn’t still be calling Wicked a sensation. Sensation implies something that is short lived and soon forgotten. Wicked has passed that threshold. It is now in the category of legend with other Broadway greats like Phantom of the Opera and West Side Story. People simply can’t get enough of this incredible show – and for good reason.
Wicked has everything that an exceptionally good musical should: inspirational story, complex characters, amazing set/costumes/makeup, and a repertoire of incredibly catchy songs. Wicked Broadway tickets are always in demand because it’s simply one of the best shows on Broadway.
The story is familiar in some ways. Everyone knows the story of Dorothy, Toto, and the Wicked Witch of the West. Wicked takes this familiar setting and story and goes behind the scenes. What if the Wicked Witch of the West wasn’t so wicked after all? Yes, Elphaba was born with skin colored an unfortunate shade of green and yes, she and the Wizard don’t get along – but there is much more to the story than those two facts.
Wicked tells the story of Elphaba and Glinda (the Good Witch) from the time they were young girls in witch academy. Their friendship blossomed, despite the fact that Glinda was beautiful and popular and Elphaba was sharp as a tack but desperately awkward. Eventually, however, Glinda and Elphaba were forced to choose between what they believed was right and what was popular. Elphaba, of course, chose to follow her heart and became an exile as a result of it. Wicked is the story of Oz that you haven’t heard and it’s one that simply cannot be missed.
Applause Tickets has access to hundreds of Wicked tickets every day. Our ticket experts are standing by to help you find the seats you want at a price you feel comfortable paying. Call our experts today at 1-800-451-9930 to get your tickets to Wicked!
