Get Tickets To See An Inspector Calls In London

Image result for an inspector calls logoYesterday I posted a blog about the new London production of Art. Having seen the show during it's initial Broadway run, I was thrilled that the show was returning to the place where it got it's start over twenty years ago. Now hot on the heels of that announcement, is the news that An Inspector Calls is also returning to London in a brand new production.

The show, which holds the distinction as the winner of more awards than any show in history, is set to open at the Playhouse Theatre in London on November 4, and run thru February 4, 2017. Now when I first saw the show, I had no idea what is was about except that it had won four Tony Awards, including Best Revival of a Play.

So there I sat at the Booth Theatre on a hot Saturday afternoon waiting for the show to begin. Cut to less than two hours later, and I couldn't believe what I had just seen. Up until that point most of the shows that I had seen on Broadway were musicals. Suffice to say I loved the show.

Now without giving to much away I will give you a brief synopsis about the show. Set over the course of one night in April 1912, in the fictional town of Brumley, An Inspector Calls, takes place at the home of the Birling family who's peaceful dinner is suddenly interrupted by the arrival of Inspector Goole, who is there to investigate the death of a young woman. As the evening progresses, hidden secrets are exposed that threaten to tear this once close family apart at the seams.

Now do you see why I loved it? By the way for those of you who want tickets to see the show you are in luck. We sell it. Not only that but at prices that are lower than you will find anywhere else. Get your tickets to see An Inspector Calls at the Playhouse Theatre in London. Until next time theatre fans.

Award Winning Production Of Art To Return To The West End This December

Art Reza-Hampton.jpgHard to believe but it's been almost twenty years since the Broadway production of Art first opened. In fact, I was lucky enough to see it a few days after it won the Tony Award for Best Play of the Year. Now while I loved the show, I was surprised that it won, as everyone had expected The Beauty Queen of Leenane to take the top prize.

Previews for the show are set to begin at the Old Vic Theatre on December 10. As of now it is scheduled to run thru February 18, 2017. Although if reviews are good I would not be surprised if it extends. Who knows? Maybe it will even make it's way across the pond? Fingers crossed. So what exactly is Art about? Well I'll tell you.

The show tells the story of three friends. Marc, Yvan, and Serge, who has recently purchased a painting. However this is no ordinary painting. In fact it's all white, with white diagonal lines. Now to his friends, the painting is a joke, causing Serge to question their friendship as well as the affect that art has on society.

Sounds intriguing don't you think? So anyway, now that you know what it's about, I'm guessing you want to know how to get tickets right? Well have I got good news for you. We sell it. In fact we sell every show in London. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Art at the Old Vic Theatre in London. You will love it. I know I did. Until next time theatre fans.

National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) Gives Back to Ronald McDonald Houses All Over The Country

I've been a licensed ticket broker for 39 years now.  My company, Applause Theatre & Entertainment Service Inc. has been providing personal service and expertise, helping New York City bound travelers in obtaining Broadway Shows, Concerts and Sporting Events.

Although for most of my career, I've gotten to know many of the local New York tri-state area ticket brokers here and there, I've had the pleasure of getting to know dozens of additional ticket broker industry professionals over the past seven years by participating in the NATB Gives Back Charity Program and its 32 for 32 NFL Preseason Football Program.  Simply put, ticket brokers from all over the country (and some in Canada) come together every summer to donate preseason NFL football tickets to every one of the 32 NFL markets around the United States.  32 tickets are donated for each of 2 preseason home games in all of the NFL markets.

The idea of the 32 for 32 Program is a simple one really.  Ticket brokers are giving back to the local community by donating thousands of tickets every summer, sending the children and families staying at local Ronald McDonald houses around the country to NFL football games in their area.  The kids are undergoing treatment for life threatening illnesses and attending the games helps to take their minds off of their daily challenges.  In addition, ticket brokers often volunteer their time to help out at their local Ronald McDonald House throughout the year.

Since my company is located in and primarily handles tickets to events in New York City, we have been assisting the NATB Charity Committee with coordinating ticket broker, ticket donations for the New York Jets and New York Giants football teams.  We work with 6 Ronald McDonald houses including New York City, Long Island, Valhalla, Albany as well as 2 houses in Central New Jersey.  For 7 years, the youngsters and families staying at Ronald McDonald houses have been enjoying the football games.  Many families have sent us pictures of them having a great time at the games along with letters of appreciation.

My post today is simply to give a big "thank you" to the dozens of NATB Gives Back Charity ticket donors for their incredibly generous participation in the 32 for 32 Program throughout the entire United States.  Many of the ticket companies, some not yet members of the NATB, contribute to this program as well by donating money and/or tickets to the games.  To date ticket brokers have given over $1.6 million dollars in the 7 years as well as volunteer hours and I thought it made sense to acknowledge their tremendous generosity and dedication to this great cause.

Ticket brokers are a very special group.  They stop what they are doing and get involved.in this program. The NATB Gives Back Program has regional coordinators in all 32 NFL markets that help make phone calls, send email requests, network, collect and deliver the tickets to their local Ronald McDonald House contacts and do everything they can to ensure everyone attending the games has a great time.  In the 7 years since I've been involved with the charity committee, I've had the great pleasure to get to know many of the ticket brokers. Especially this year as my company has had the privilege of assisting with collecting donations on a national level.

Personally, I'm very proud to know the woman and men that contribute to the NATB Gives Back Charity Program.  They're very special people.  They really are.

We regularly receive ticket donations from season ticket holders around the country for this charity program as well. Many season ticket holders donate their personal tickets to this cause.  So whether you are a ticket broker or not  If you want to consider getting involved in the NATB Gives Back Program, we'd love to hear from you.

You can contact me personally at 212-307-7050 or by writing  me at rich@applause-tickets.com or contact Terry Stevenson at the NATB office by calling 630-510-4521 or writing her at tstevenson@integrated-solutions.com.

I hope you enjoyed this post on NATB Gives Back Charity and Ronald McDonald House Charities.

About National Association of Ticket Brokers
The NATB was formed in 1994 by a group of concerned ticket brokers who desired to establish an industry-wide standard of conduct and to create ethical rules and procedures to protect the public and foster a positive perception of the industry. While the goals of the NATB are many, our primary goal is to represent the interests of legitimate ticket brokers by promoting consumer protection and educating the public about our industry. This is done by assuring the public that when dealing with an NATB member, they are working with an honest, reliable broker that will deliver what is promised. In addition, the NATB has created a platform that allows the public to report unethical conduct by ticket brokers.

About NATB Gives Back
NATB Gives Back was formed by the NATB Board of Directors with the mission of making a positive impact in the communities which support its member businesses. NATB Gives Back endeavors to do this by providing leadership, programs, and education to the NATB members and by forging partnerships with charitable and community organizations.  Additional information is available at http://www.natb.org/

Ian McKellen And Patrick Stewart To Star In No Man's Land In The West End

No Man's Land TicketsDoes it get any more exciting than this theatre fans? Two of the stage's greatest actor's are teaming up once again to perform in one of the theatre's greatest plays. It can't be true right? Would I lie to you? Now this is not the first time these two have  teamed up. In 2013 they performed No Man's Land on Broadway. To say it was a success would be an understatement. In fact it was one of the hottest tickets on the Great White Way.

Thankfully I got my tickets as soon as they went on sale. I mean come on people. There was no way I was going to miss two of my favorite actor's together on stage for the first time. Now here's your chance. So what exactly is the show about? Well for starter's it is written by Harold Pinter. That alone is reason enough to see it. He is after all one of the world's greatest playwright's. I know. I know. But what is the show about? Well I'll tell you. After all I did see it. Here you go.

No Man's Land take's place on a hot Summer evening in Hampstead where elderly writer's and total stranger's Hirst and Spooner meet in a local pub. As the evening progresses the men become more inebriated where upon Hirst rises from his chair and throws his glass across the bar. This of course prompts Spooner to question his new friend's mental state. The drunken pair soon make their way to Hirst's nearby house, where the night continues to grow even stranger following the arrival of two intriguing but disturbing young men.

Now are you ready to see it? Of course you are. Well have I got good news for you. We sell tickets to No Man's Land. In fact we sell tickets to every play in the West End. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Ian McKellen and Patrick Stewart in No Man's Land. Preview's are set to begin at the Wyndham's Theatre on September 8 so don't delay. Call now. Until next time theatre fans.

My Thoughts On Hamilton

HamiltonNow unless you've been living under a rock for the past year and a half, you've all heard of a Hamilton right? Of course you have. To say that the show has become a juggernaut of epic proportions would be an understatement. It is without a doubt the hottest show to hit Broadway in the past twenty years.

O.K. I know what you are thinking. What about The Lion King or The Book of Mormon? Aren't they just as popular? They are. But Hamilton is like something that has never been seen before right? Wrong. Ever hear of a little show called Rent? Hard to believe that it's been over twenty years since it opened.

Now I can honestly say that Rent is my favorite show of all time. It has been since I saw it shortly before it opened at the Nederlander Theatre.  Plus if there was no Rent, there wouldn't be a Hamilton. That is a fact.

Now I personally have yet to see the show. Why you ask? Maybe because it's been sold out since it began at the Richard Rodgers Theatre some thirteen months ago. Do I want to see it someday? Of course. But I'll wait. I personally think paying my rent and being able to eat, is a little more important right now. The truth is if people want to see the show they are going to find a way. It's as simple as that.

Just remember my friends there are other shows out there. I guess the one good thing about Hamilton being so hard to get it, is that it makes tickets to tons of other shows easier to obtain.. After all Hamilton is not the only game in town. In fact I was talking to one of my colleague's the other day about the show and I said, "There were musicals before Hamilton. And there will be musicals after Hamilton." And that's my two cents. Until next time theatre fans.

Now Is The Best Time To Go To London And See A Show

Now believe it or not but I have never been to London. Now don't get me wrong. I do want to go someday. In fact it is at the top of my bucket list.

Having worked in this business for years now, I can honestly say that I have sold hundreds and hundreds of tickets to theatre in London. However I have never seen anything like the craze that is Harry Potter and the Cursed Child's, Part One and Two.

Everyday we get calls from travel agents and regular customer's alike asking for tickets. Unfortunately there hasn't been a seat to be had for months. In fact until they released a new block of tickets a few days ago the show was sold out for the next year.

Of course once the new block of tickets went on sale they sold out right away. Oh well. There's always 2018 right? Or here's a crazy idea. Why not see something else? As we speak there are over sixty plays and musical's playing in London. The only question is which one to choose. Why not see all of them? Just kidding of course.

Now for those of you who aren't sure what's playing in London you have come to the right place. We have all the big shows listed on our website. Need help choosing which one to see? Just give us a call and one of our friendly ticket experts at Applause will do the rest. Also don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. NATB Gives Back

Good afternoon theatre fans. For those of you who read my blogs, you know that most, if not all of my blogs deal with the theatre. After all, the name of our company is called Applause
Theatre and Entertainment Service.

However today's blog is about something else. Now you've all heard of the Ronald McDonald House right?

Well just in case you haven't, the Ronald McDonald House Charities was founded in 1974 by the McDonald's Corporation, whose mission was to provide support as well as improve the health and well being of children.

Sounds like a great cause to me. Now what you may not know is that since 2009, the National Association of Ticket Brokers (NATB) have partnered with the Ronald House McDonald House Charities, to provide tickets to each NFL pre-season game. Not only that, but since that time the NATB has contributed over a $100,000 to the annual RHMC Awards of Excellence, which honors a bevy of dedicated professionals and everyday citizens alike, whose continuing efforts have not only changed, but improved thousands of young children's lives.

Now I've been selling tickets for over eighteen years now. In that time I've spoken to thousands of different people, from all walks of life. I can honestly say that there is nothing greater than knowing that you helped give someone an experience that they will never forget. Which is why this program is so important.

By the way, if anyway of you out there are interested in contributing to this amazing cause, feel free to email Richard Gladstone, President of Applause Theatre and Entertainment at rich@applause-tickets.com or give him a call at 212-307-7050.  Have a great day everyone!

Steve Martin's New Play Now In Previews

Steve Martin 2011.jpgThat's right theatre fans. Comedian and movie star Steve Martin is at it again. The recent Tony nominee's newest show Meteor Shower, opens today at the Old Globe Theatre in San Diego. The limited engagement, which began previews on July 30, was scheduled to play thru September 7. However it was just recently announced that the show has been extended thru September 17.

The show which is directed by Gordon Edelstein, features Emmy nominee Pam Fischer (The Office) and Greg Germann (Broadway's Boeing-Boeing, Ally McBeal) So what exactly is this new show all about? Well according to production sources, Meteor Shower tells the tale of two marries couples who gather together to watch a heavenly event.

As the evening progresses, tension between the two couples begins that changes the course of the evening in more ways than one. Sounds like my type of play. Here's hoping that the show makes it's way to New York. Get your tickets to see Meteor Shower at the Old Globe Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Revival Of 42nd Street To Return To The West End

42nd Street in London's West End"Come and meet, those dancing feet. On the avenue I'm taking you to, 42nd Street." That, in case you didn't know, are lyrics from the title song from 42nd Street. The show, first premiered on the Great White Way in August 1980, where it ran for a total of 3,486 performances.

The London production, which opened in 1984, featured teenager and future Academy and Tony Award winner Catherine Zeta-Jones in the chorus.

Who by the way went on to play leading lady Peggy Sawyer later on in the run. This new production, is scheduled to open on
March 20, 2017 at it's original home, London's Theatre Royal, Drury Lane.

Not only that, but it is being directed by book writer Mark Gamble, who directed the 2001 Tony Award winning revival. Tickets for the show are not yet on sale. However you can guarantee that when they do, we will be selling them. In fact we sell every show or event in London. Who knew? Get your tickets to see 42nd Street next Spring in the West End. Until next time theatre fans.

New Sondheim Musical To Premier In New York City Next Year

Stephen SondheimBest news I have heard all day. Stephen Sondheim, one of Broadway's most beloved, and successful composers and lyricists of all time, is making his return to New York City with a brand new musical.

The show which as of now has no title, has a book by playwright David Ives, and is scheduled to open at the Public Theatre in 2017. Representatives from the Public Theatre could not confirm the production, only to say that, “We are happily developing the Buñuel project with Stephen Sondheim, and hope to present it in the near future. However no set date has been confirmed.”

Incidentally enough, the Public produced his last original musical, Road Show, which played there in 2008. So what exactly is the unnamed new musical about? Well according to the master himself, " "The project is two acts, the first based on Luis Buñuel’s The Discreet Charm of the Bourgeoisie (1972), the second The Exterminating Angel (1962). It is about trying to find a place to have dinner. The first deals with interruptions to dinner, the second is about people who have dinner and can’t leave, which “is my cheerful view of the world today.”

Sounds kind of interesting don't you think? I've been a huge Sondheim fan for as long as I can remember, so there is no way I am going to miss this one. The only question is what will he call it? And most importantly when are tickets going to go on sale? Rest assured that when they do we will be selling them. Keep your eyes posted to this site for more information in the coming months. Until next time theatre fans.

Cats Reviews

CatsGood morning theatre fans. Now in case you didn't know, the new revival of Cats opened last night on Broadway. Hard to believe that it's been over sixteen years since that dancing group of felines closed on the Great White Way.

This new production, which began previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 14, stars British pop star Leona Lewis as Grizabella the Glamour Cat. So what did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.

Hollywood Reporter

Huffington Post

NBC New York

New York Times

Time Out

Variety

O.K. Not too terrible I guess. The truth is it really doesn't matter anyway. The show will sell regardless of what the critic's say. After all Wicked didn't get the greatest reviews either, and look what happened there. By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see Cats, you are in luck. We sell it.

In fact if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru October 5, it is for select seats, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Cats on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
