Let me guess. You just assumed that The Book of Mormon has been doing Wednesday matinee's along now didn't you? Well they haven't. I mean let's be honest. It's not a exactly a Wednesday matinee kind of show if you know what I mean. So anyway back to the reason for today's blog. The Book of Mormon which has been breaking box office records and selling out for better part of three years is joining the weekday matinee club. Well at least for the next two months. The show which won the 2011 Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year is scheduled to play Wednesday's at 2pm thru August 20. Now because this is a new thing there are believe it or not plenty of seats available. So if you haven't seen The Book of Mormon yet this is your chance to see one the funniest shows to hit the Great White Way in years. Get your tickets to see The Book of Mormon on Broadway at the Eugene O'Neill Theatre. You will laugh your a** off.

The Stars Align On The Great White Way This Fall

What? Stars on Broadway? What will they think of next? Yes I know big name celebrities appearing on Broadway is nothing new. However this year there seems to be more than ever before. In fact between now and the end of the year there are nine new shows set to open with some of the biggest stars of stage and screen. From new plays by some of the theatres most exciting new playwrights to classic works by some of Broadway's most beloved writers there is something for everyone this season. So who are these stars that are about to take Broadway by storm this Fall you ask? Let's find out shall we?

Constellations - Jake Gyllenhaal

A Delicate Balance - Glenn Close, John Lithgow, and Martha Plaimpton

Disgraced- Josh Radnor

The Elephant Man- Bradley Cooper, Patricia Clarkson

It's Only A Play-F. Murray Abraham, Matthew Broderick, Stockard Channing, Nathan Lane and Megan Mullally

The Real Thing- Ewan McGregor and Maggie Gyllenhaal

The River- Hugh Jackman

This Is Our Youth- Michael Cera

You Can't Take It With You- James Earl Jones

Now that's what I call a cavalcade of stars. The only question of course is what do you see? Here's an idea. Why not see them all? I know I would if I had the money. Now to be honest the one I am looking forward to the most is You Can't Take It With You as it is one of my favorite plays of all time. After that I would have to go with The Real Thing followed by A Delicate Balance. Let me guess. You thought I was going to say The River right? What can I say? I guess I'm just not a big Hugh Jackman fan like some people. That's the great thing about theatre. There's something for everybody. Here's to any exciting Fall season. Until next time theatre fans.

Opening night is scheduled for October 2. As of now the two remaining cast members who will join Lindsay Lohan in the David Mamet play have not been announced. Pity them. Who knows? The Last Ship Reviews

A few days ago I posted a blog on the Broadway bound new musical The Last Ship. The show which is scheduled to open on Broadway this October is currently playing in Chicago thru July 13 where it opened last night. So were the critic's kind to rock legend Sting on his maiden voyage to the stage or is it destined to sink to the bottom of the ocean? Let's find out.

Sounds like two of them really liked it while the other two thought that few changes need to be made before it docks in the Big Apple. Tickets for the New York production are now on sale with previews set to begin at the Neil Simon Theatre on September 30. New Play Disgraced To Open On Broadway This October

What's that you say? A play opening on Broadway in the Fall that is not a revival? What will they think of next? Disgraced, a new play by Pulitzer Prize winning playwright Ayad Akhtar will begin preview will begin previews at the Lyceum Theatre on September 27 with opening night scheduled for October 23. Now while I do love revivals I am even more excited when a new play is opening on Broadway.

Not only that but the show is starring Josh Radnor who for all you television fans know was Ted Mosby on How I Met Your Mother. Which by the way is one of my favorite shows of all time. Now while he is known for his comedic skills he is quite a good dramatic actor as well which is good because based on what I have read so far about Disgraced it is definitely not a comedy. Now for those of you who would like more info about the show here is a synopsis of Disgraced from the show's website. Enjoy!

Disgraced  is the story of a successful Muslim-American lawyer and his wife -- an artist influenced by Islamic imagery -- enjoying their comfortable and successful life on New York's Upper East Side. When a co-worker and her husband come to dinner, what begins as polite table conversation explodes, leaving everyone's relationships and beliefs about race and identity in shards.

Like I said. Not so much a comedy. Although there might be a few laughs here and there I'm guessing. We shall see. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see Disgraced you are in luck. We sell it. Well that and every other show both On and Off Broadway. Get your tickets to see Disgraced at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway. I know I can't wait to see it. How about you? Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical The Last Ship To Open On Broadway This Fall

Now unless you've been living under a rock for the past few months or didn't watch this year's Tony Awards then you know that sixteen-time Grammy Award winner Sting has written a Broadway musical. The Last Ship which is based on the singer's childhood is scheduled to begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on September 30 with opening night set for October 26. By the way for those of you who can't wait until then the show is playing in Chicago thru July 13. So for those of you from the Midwest who want to see the show you still have plenty of time. Or you can just wait until September. I mean let's face it. There is nothing like seeing the show on Broadway. Now for those of you like me who know nothing about the show except who wrote it here is a synopsis of The Last Ship from the shows website. Enjoy!

Life in the English seafaring town of Wallsend has always revolved around the local shipyard, where the hardworking men of this close-knit community construct magnificent vessels with tremendous pride. But Gideon Fletcher dreams of a different future. He sets out to travel the world, leaving his life and his love behind. When Gideon returns home fourteen years later, he finds the shipyard's future in grave danger and his childhood sweetheart engaged to someone else. As the men of Wallsend take their fate into their own hands and build a towering representation of the shared dream that has defined their existence, Gideon realizes that he left behind more than he could have ever imagined.

Sounds like just the type of good old fashioned musical comedy that Broadway is famous for right? I'm kidding of course. Now I love Sting. Loved him when he was in the Police. Love all is solo work too. The question is can he write for the stage? I don't know. Let's just hope he fares better than his fellow rock buddies Bono and The Edge. Yes I know Spider-Man: Turn Off The Dark ran for over three years. However it did lose all it's money and let's be honest didn't exactly set the world on fire. Oh well. Not every show can be a hit. Let's hope Sting has better luck. Get your tickets to see The Last Ship on Broadway at the Neil Simon Theatre. Until next tine theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Kansas. Wichita to be exact. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from a customer who was planning a trip to New York later this week and was thinking about seeing a show or two and maybe a baseball game. I asked him how he heard about us and he said that he had ordered tickets from us before. Sure enough I checked our database and I had actually sold him tickets three years ago to Anything Goes, Mary Poppins and The Lion King. Nice to see he decided to use us again. Let's hope it's not another three years. So anyway after finding out when he would be here I asked him what he wanted to see.

Since it was clear that he liked the Disney shows I assumed he would want to see their newest hit Aladdin. I was right. The only problem was that all regular seats were sold out. Luckily for him I was able to find some excellent seats in the Center Orchestra thru our Nationwide ticket board. Oh sure it was a little more than he wanted to spend but he wanted to make sure his grandson had the best seats. What a nice Grandpa right? After securing the seats for Aladdin I then began my search for the baseball tickets which I knew would be difficult too as the Yankees were playing one of their most heated rivals the Boston Red Sox.

Once again I had to go thru the ticket board but like I said he wanted to make his Grandson happy. So anyway after taking care of his latest set of tickets I asked him if he wanted to see anything else and he decided to close out his trip with tickets to Stomp. I told him that not only was that a great choice but because the show has been playing for so long I could probably get them for a lower rate. Well he loved that. When all was said and done I was able to get him great seats and at a price that was lower than our normal rate. So there you have it folks. The perfect weekend for a Grandpa and his Grandson. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Tony Winner Kristin Chenoweth To Return To Broadway Next Year In On The Twentieth Century

That's right theatre fans. Broadway favorite Kristin Chenoweth is returning to the Great White Way for the first time in over four years in a new revival of On The Twentieth Century. The show which first premiered on Broadway back in 1978 where it won five Tony Awards including Best Book and Score will also star Peter Gallagher and is being directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis. This new production which is being produced by the Roundabout Theatre Company is set to begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on February 12, 2015 and is scheduled to open on March 12, 2015.

Now while I have never seen a production of the show I did see a 2004 production of the play which the musical is based on which also played at the same theatre. Sounds like some one at the Roundabout is a fan of the show huh? Oh and by the way I loved the play. Just the right mix of slapstick comedy and a little chaos all rolled into one. Let's hope the musical version of the show is just as hysterical. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the show here is a brief synopsis of On The Twentieth Century from the shows website. Enjoy!

It's nonstop laughs aboard the Twentieth Century, a luxury coach travelling from Chicago to New York City. Luck, love and mischief collide when the bankrupt theater producer Oscar Jaffe (Peter Gallagher) embarks on a madcap mission to cajole glamorous Hollywood starlet Lily Garland ( Kristin Chenoweth) into playing the lead in his new, non-existent epic drama. But is the train ride long enough to reignite the spark between these former lovers, create a play from scratch, and find the money to get it all the way to Broadway?

Sounds like fun doesn't it? Now with all Roundabout Theatre productions it is usually a limited run of about thirteen or fourteen weeks but if reviews are good I'm sure it will extend. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to this show or any show on Broadway you are in luck. We sell it. Get your tickets to see On The Twentieth Century on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre on Broadway. I know I can't wait to see it. Can you? Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Honeymoon In Vegas To Open On Broadway January 2015

A popular movie from the 90's turned into a big splashy Broadway musical? What will they think of next? I'm kidding of course. After all some of the Great White Way's most successful show's are based on hit movies from the past few decades. Honeymoon in Vegas which is based on the 1992 movie of the same name is set to begin previews at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre on November 18, 2014 with opening night scheduled for January 15, 2015. Two months of previews? That seems like a long time for a show that has already had a regional production and has been in the works for a few years.

Oh well. I guess that will give them plenty of time to work out all the kinks. Now while I have never seen the movie I am a fan of it's composer Jason Robert Brown who by the way just won two Tony Awards a couple of weeks ago for The Bridges of Madison County which shuttered last month. Let's hope this movie turned musical fares much better. Now for those of you who are like me and have never seen the movie here is a brief synopsis of Honeymoon In Vegas from the show's website.

Honeymoon In Vegas tells the story of Jack Singer,a regular guy with an extraordinary fear of marriage, who finally gets up the nerve to ask his girlfriend Betsy to marry him. But when they head to Las Vegas to get hitched, smooth talking gambler Tommy Korman , looking for a second chance at love, falls head over heels for Betsy. What happens next is anybody's bet! Sounds like it could be a lot of fun. Let's hope it's a hit. Get your tickets to see Honeymoon In Vegas on Broadway at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Edward Albee's A Delicate Balance To Return To Broadway This Fall

That's right theatre fans. One of Edward Albee's most celebrated plays is returning to the Great White Way in a star studded new production. A Delicate Balance, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama in 1967 in set to begin previews at the Golden Theatre on October 20 with opening night set for November 20. The show which was last seen on Broadway in 1996 where it won the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play is being directed by Tony winner Pam MacKinnon (Clybourne Park, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?) and will star Tony winners Glenn Close, John Ligthow, Lindsay Duncan and three-time Tony nominee Martha Plimpton.

Rounding out the cast are Tony and Academy nominee Bob Balaban and Olivier Award winner and Tony nominee Clare Higgins. See? I told you it was star studded. Now even though I was living here during the show's last production I never got around to seeing it. However with a cast like this you can bet I won't make the same mistake twice. Now since I know nothing about the show I have included a brief synopsis of it for you to enjoy as well. So here you go!

The uneasy existence of upper-middle-class suburbanites Agnes (Glenn Close) and Tobias (John Lithgow) and their permanent houseguest, Agnes' witty alcoholic sister Claire (Lindsay Duncan), is disrupted by the sudden appearance of lifelong family friends Harry and Edna (Bob Balaban and Clare Higgins), fellow empty nesters with free-floating anxiety, who ask to stay with them to escape an unnamed terror. They soon are followed by Agnes and Tobias's bitter 36-year-old daughter Julia (Martha Plimpton), who returns home following the collapse of her fourth marriage.

Sounds like quite the comedy right? Well a dark comedy I should say. As of now the show is only scheduled thru February 22, 2015 so make sure you secure your seats to what I am sure is going to be the theatrical event of the season. Get your tickets to see A Delicate Balance on Broadway at the Golden Theatre. Expect the show to be a big hit at next year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.

On The Town To Return To Broadway This September

"The Bronx is up and the Battery's down." Sorry. I couldn't resist. On The Town, which was last seen on Broadway over fifteen years ago is set to return to Broadway this fall at the Lyric Theatre. Previews are set to begin on September 20 with opening night scheduled for October 16. The Lyric theatre by the way used to be called the Foxwoods and before that the Hilton and before that the Ford Center for the Performing Arts. That's a lot of changes for a theatre that has only been open for seventeen years. But enough theatre history. You came here to get more info about On The Town so let's get to it shall we?  This new production which will mark the 70th Anniversary of this beloved American musical is being directed by Tony winner John Rando (Urinetown) and choreographed by Joshua Bergasse.(Smash) Now I actually saw the last revival but not on Broadway. It was in Central park in the Summer of 1997 if I recall.

What you say? A musical in the park? I thought they only did Shakespeare during the Summer. Well that's true. Just not this time. Cut to a year or so later and the show opened at the Gershwin Theatre where unfortunately it closed after two months. Now while I enjoyed the show I think moving to a theatre as large as the Gershwin was a bad call. Luckily for them this new production is going into one of Broadway's most intimate theatres. I'm joking of course as the Lyric Theatre is the largest theatre in New York second only to Radio City Music Hall. Oh well. Maybe this production will do better. It can't do any worse right? Tickets for On The Town are now on sale. Not only that but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at some amazing prices. The Elephant Man Starring Academy Award Nominee Bradley Cooper To Open This Fall

That's right theatre fans. Two-time Academy Award nominee Bradley Cooper is returning to the Great White Way. I know what you're thinking. Didn't I mean to say that the star of American Hustle and Silver Linings Playbook is making his Broadway debut instead? Nope. In fact he appeared on Broadway in Three Days Of Rain back in 2006 opposite Julia Roberts and Paul Rudd. Forgot didn't you? I saw the show and while most critics did not give the show or Miss Roberts very good reviews I actually enjoyed it. Now here we are eight years later and he is set to open this fall in a revival of The Elephant Man. Saw that production too. The 2002 version that is not the original. Enjoyed that production as well. I am sensing a pattern here folks.

This new production comes courtesy of the Williamstown Theatre Festival where Mr. Cooper portrayed the lead character in the Summer of 2014 to critical acclaim. The show which is set to begin previews at the Booth Theatre on October 18 is being directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis and will also star Academy Award nominee Patricia Clarkson and Alessandro Nivola. Opening night is scheduled for November 13 and will run thru January 18. 2015 although if reviews are good you never know. I mean it's not like he has to hurry off to film Hangover 4. Tickets are already on sale and I'm sure will be going very fast Get your tickets to see The Elephant Man on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. I can't wait.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Arkansas. Fort Smith to be exact. Yesterday afternoon I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to our fair city at the end of the month and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were Motown and the new revival of Les Miserables. Two good but very different choices I would say. After all the do say variety is the spice of life right? So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they would be here and of course where they wanted to sit. Now for those of you who read my blogs know that I prefer the Mezzanine but I know not everybody feels the same as I do. In fact this particular customer asked for Orchestra. However after I told them what Orchestra seats were available and what they had in the Mezzanine that took my suggestion and got excellent seats upstairs and at a rate that was much lower than they had seen elsewhere. Well there you have it folks. Two great shows with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Kinky Boots is turning 500. Let me rephrase that. The show which won six 2013 Tony Awards including Best Musical of the Year is set to celebrate their 500th performance on Broadway this Thursday. New Play The River Starring Tony Winner Hugh Jackman Is Now On Sale

Hugh Jackman on Broadway? Now I don't know about you but I feel like we just saw him in something. Oh that's right. He hosted the Tony Awards a couple of weeks ago. Or as I like to call it the "Hugh Jackman Variety Hour" with a few awards and show clips thrown in here and there. Bring back Neil next year I say! Now except for the fact that Wolverine is starring in this new play I really don't know anything about it. Well except that it is playing in one of Broadway's smallest theatres and that it is only scheduled to run thru January 25. Well would you look at that. I guess I knew more about it than I thought. Now for those of you fans who want to know more about the show here is a brief synopsis about The River. Enjoy!

A remote cabin on the cliffs, a man and a woman, and a moonless night. Jez Butterworth's The River asks when we find each other, are we trying to recapture someone we once lost? The writer director team who brought you Jerusalem returns with a bewitching new story. See? I told you it was pretty brief. The truth is a really doesn't matter what the show is about. Hugh Jackman could stand on stage for two hours and read the phone book and probably still sell thousands of tickets. Although he might have to do a little soft show now and then. Tickets are sure to go fast so don't delay. Get your tickets to see Hugh Jackman in The River on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Visiting New York City this Summer? Well of course you are. I bet you might even take in a show or two while your here too right? I know I would if I was visiting. The question is what do you see? Believe it or not but there are currently twenty-nine shows playing on Broadway. Eleven of which opened up this past season. Twenty-nine shows? Hope you've made time on your calendar to see them all while you are here. I'm kidding of course. You would have to be here for almost three weeks to do that. Plus if you are a frequent visitor to our fair city then you have more than likely seen most of them already. Maybe even a few times. Plus most of these shows can be seen for rates that can't be beat. I mean who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Just call Applause and we can get you tickets to some of Broadway's most popular shows at "Insider Rates". And for those of you who are looking for Premium seats or specific seats or locations we do that too. We sell it all. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes from right here. That's right. I am talking about good old New York City. Less than an hour ago I received a call from one of our hotel concierge's who's guest wanted ticket's to today's Mets game. In fact the game was starting in less than two hours. Now I am a big Mets fan. Not as big as two of my coworkers but I have been to a few games and always had a great time. Even win they lose which lately has been a lot. Oh well. You can't win them all right? But enough about me. You came here to read about our latest customer story. After a little research I was able to find seats. Now were the best seats in the house? Some may not think so. However I was able to get all five seats together and having been to the stadium before I can honestly tell you there really isn't a bad seat. Not only that but because today is Sunday it is Family Day which means that not only do they get to see the game but there are giveaways for the first fifteen thousand fans, face painters, and anyone under twelve gets to run the bases after the game. Luckily for them they had two young children going to the game. Kind of makes you wish you were a kid again doesn't it? So there you have it folks. Five tickets to America's favorite pastime and an afternoon that family will never forget. Who knows? The Mets might even pull out a win too. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Visting New York City and Other Observations

Believe it or not but up until about five years ago we sold hotel/theatre packages. Dinner vouchers too. And while we may not offer those type of services anymore we do provide theatre tickets as well all other events in New York City to hotel concierges throughout the city as well as offer tips on where to eat on our "Restaurant Suggestions Page". Now the truth is there are hundreds of companies out there just like us that sell tickets. The big question is what type of service are they providing? Are they concerned with only selling tickets to the hottest shows or are they providing the type of customer service that will make those customers want to come back again and again.

Look we all know that tickets aren't cheap these days. Most people have to work and work just to save enough money to come to New York and that's just for airfare or however way you decide to get here. Then of course you have to find a place to stay and we all know that isn't cheap either. Add that up along with eating out and a little shopping and you have spent a bundle. Oh and don't forget tickets to Wicked and The Lion King or whatever show you decide to see while you are here. When all is said and done you could end up spending a whole month's salary before you know it. So where am I going with all of this you might ask?

The truth is I live here and have been a proud resident of what I feel is the greatest city in the world for the better part of two decades. Therefore going out to a nice restaurant or seeing a Broadway show is a typical week for me. Most people don't have that luxury. Heck even most New Yorkers idea of a night out is ordering Chinese and sitting at home and watching the latest episode of Game of Thrones or renting a movie. O.K. I'll admit that last statement is probably a little dated as I don't know anyway who runs out to their local neighborhood Blockbuster to rent a movie.

That's probably why they are no longer in business. Most people like me wait until it comes out on HBO or Showtime or Netflix. The truth is in a city this big there are plenty of ways to entertain yourself. Same thing with buying tickets or what hotel to stay at or where to have a nice meal. Luckily with a city like New York the options are limitless. I guess that's why millions of people visit our city year after year. I know if I didn't live here this place would be at the top of my lost. So whether it is your first trip or your twentieth remember to have fun, see the sights, and have the time of your life. After all you only live once. Peace.

The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time To Open On Broadway This Fall

Well would you look at that? Another hit show from across the pond heading to Broadway. Last year was Matilda. Thhis year Broadway will welcome one of London's most successful plays in the last few years. The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time which first premiered in the West End on August 2012 is based on the 2003 novel of the same name. This new production will mark the fifteenth show to transfer from the National Theatre in the past two decades.

Now while I did not see them all I did have the pleasure of seeing their Tony Award winning production of The History Boys which opened in 2006. Let's hope this one is just as good. The show is scheduled to begin performances at the Barrymore Theatre on September 10 with opening night set for October 5. As of now the show is open ended with tickets on sale thru March 29 with tickets set to go on sale on July 28. Now for those of you like me who want more info about the show here is a brief synopsis of the play. Enjoy!

Christopher, fifteen years old, stands beside Mrs Shears' dead dog. It has been speared with a garden fork, it is seven minutes after midnight and Christopher is under suspicion. He records each fact in the book he is writing to solve the mystery of who murdered Wellington. He has an extraordinary brain, exceptional at maths while ill-equipped to interpret everyday life. He has never ventured alone beyond the end of his road, he detests being touched and he distrusts strangers. But his detective work, forbidden by his father, takes him on a frightening journey that upturns his world.

Sounds like a laugh out loud night in the theatre now doesn't it? I'm kidding of course. As I mentioned tickets are set to go on sale on July 28 and I fully expect the show to be a hot ticket with theatregoers old and young alike. Get your tickets to see The Curious Incident of the Dog In The Night Time at the Barrymore Theatre on Broadway. Expect the show to be a big contender at next year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of North Dakota. Minot to be exact. Earlier this morning I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York at the end of the month and wanted to see a few shows while they were here Their choices were Wicked, The Lion King, and Newsies. Three very popular and family friendly shows as well. So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they would be here and of course where they wanted to sit. Now for those of you who read my blogs know that I prefer the Mezzanine. Not that there's anything wrong with the Orchestra mind you. I just prefer to sit upstairs. This clients of course did not agree with me and instead wanted Premium tickets for all three shows. Of sure it costs a little more but if you have it to spend then be my guest. After a little research I was able to find her client excellent seats in the Center Orchestra for all three shows and at a price that was lower than they were expecting. That is if you call spending over three hundred dollar a ticket inexpensive. So there you have it folks. Three great shows with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Broadway Revival of You Can't Take It With You Starring Tony Winner James Earl Jones To Open This Fall

What a great way to start the 2014-2015 Broadway season don't you think? Yes I know technically Holler If You Hear Me is the first show to open this season but unlike that one I am actually looking forward to seeing You Can't Take It With You. And this is coming from a huge Tupac Shakur fan mind you. The show which first premiered on Broadway in 1936 and won the Pulitzer Prize for Drama is set to begin previews at the Longacre Theatre on August 26 with opening night set for September 28. Not only that but the show will star two-time Tony Award winner James Earl Jones and will be directed by six-time Tony nominee Scott Ellis.

I first saw the show back in 1985 when my local high school presented the show. They only did three performances and believe it or not but I saw it twice that weekend. Who would have thought that an almost fifty year old show would have kept the interest of a twelve year old boy? Trust me. I was shocked too. Now hear we are almost thirty years later and I am thrilled that one of my favorite plays of all time is returning to the Great White Way. For those of you that are not familiar with the show here is a brief synopsis of You Can't Take It With You. Enjoy!

Family can do crazy things to people. And the Sycamore family is a little crazy to begin with. James Earl Jones heads the wackiest household to ever hit Broadway in Kaufman and Hart's Pulitzer Prize-winning classic You Can't Take It With You. He plays wily Grandpa Vanderhof, leader of a happily eccentric gang of snake collectors, cunning revolutionaries, ballet dancers and skyrocket makers. But when the youngest daughter brings her fiancee and his buttoned-up parents over for dinner, that's when the real fireworks start to fly.

See? I told you it's a great play and that is just from the synopsis. Tickets for this beloved comedy actually went on sale today and I have no doubt that tickets sales should be very good. By the way for those of you looking to purchase tickets to see the show you have come to the right place. In fact not only do we sell this show but every show both On and Off Broadway. Get your tickets to see You Can't Take It With You on Broadway at the Longacre Theatre. Expect the show to be a major highlight of the upcoming Fall Broadway season. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Winners Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick To Reunite This Fall On Broadway

Well I guess the saying is true. "You can go home again." That's right theatre fans. Nathan Lane and Mathew Broderick who first gained fame as one of Broadway's favorite duos thirteen years ago in The Producer's are teaming up again in Terrence McNally's It's Only A Play. The show which is scheduled to play a limited seventeen week engagement at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre will begin previews on September 4 with opening night set for October 9.

Co-starring along Mr. Lane and Mr. Broderick are Tony winner Stockard Channing, Academy Award winner F. Murray Abraham and Emmy winner Megan Mullally. Now that's what I call an all-star cast. Throw in two-time Tony winner Jack O'Brien as director and you have what is sure to be one of this season's biggest hits. Now while the show first premiered Off-Off-Broadway in 1978 prior to it's Off-Broadway premier in 1986 this new production will mark it's Broadway debut. Here is a synopsis of the show. Enjoy!

"It's opening night of Peter Austin's (Broderick) new play as he anxiously awaits to see if his show is a hit. With his career on the line, he shares his big First Night with his best friend, a television star (Lane), his fledgling producer (Mullally), his erratic leading lady (Channing), his wunderkind director, an infamous drama critic, and a wide-eyed coat check attendant on his first night in Manhattan. It’s alternately raucous, ridiculous and tender — reminding audiences why there’s no business like show business. Thank God!"

Sounds like a great night in the theatre don't you think? Tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public beginning on June 12 and I have no doubt that this show will sell very well. Get your tickets to see It's Only A Play at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on Broadway. Tickets are sure to go fast so don't delay. Call now. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Louisiana. Metairie to be exact. Earlier this week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York later this month and wanted to see a couple of shows while he was here. Not only that but he's planning another trip in July and wanted to see another show while he was here as well. I guess it's fair to say that he is a big fan of our fair city. Broadway too. The shows he wanted to see on his first trip were Matilda and Cinderella and If/Then when he will be here in July. After finding out when he would be here I asked her if her client preferred Orchestra over Mezzanine and of course how much they wanted to spend. Since they were bringing two small children with them I suggested the Mezzanine as it would be a much better view all around. Luckily her client agreed and I was able to get them excellent seats in the Front Mezzanine for both shows. Plus I was able to get the Cinderella tickets at a reduced rate. Two shows down. One to go. Once again I was able to get them great seats in the Front Mezzanine. So there you have it folks. Three great shows and great seats to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

That's right theatre fans. Last night was the Drama Desk Awards and once again A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder was the big winner. I'm sensing a pattern here. The 2014 Tony Awards

Well theatre fans we are only a week away too the 2014 Tony Awards. I've been watching them practically every year since 1988 which was the year that The Phantom of the Opera won the top prize. Who would have thought that the show would not only still be running all these years later but would eventually become the longest running show in Broadway history. I thought for sure it would have been Cats. Just kidding. I didn't even see it. But enough about dancing felines and falling chandeliers. We have more important things to discuss. Like who is going to win a Tony on June 8. So let's get right too it. Like most years I will be picking who I think should win and who will probably win in all the major categories.
