Kinky Boots Still Packing Them In Eight Times A Week

Kinky BootsNever in a million years did I ever think that I would like Kinky Boots. So there I sat in the Front Mezzanine at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre a few weeks ago waiting for the show to begin. Now the truth is I have had many opportunities over the years to see the show. I've guess I've always been skeptical when it comes to shows that have so much hype behind them.

My thinking is that no matter how much acclaim they have, or how many awards they have won, they will never come close to living up to my expectations. I mean I waited two years to see Jersey Boys, and over three years to see Billy Elliott. Thankfully I was wrong about both of them. Would Kinky Boots be just as good?

Well I am happy to say that I was wrong once again. What a great show. Now to be honest most shows in their fifth year tend to be a little tired, and not as good as they once were. Well I am happy to say that is not the case with Kinky Boots.

If you haven't seen it yet, I highly recommend you put it at the top of your list during your next trip to New York. Plus since the show has been playing for a while, it is now possible to see the show at prices that are lower than ever. Get your tickets to see Kinky Boots on Broadway at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.

Applause And Sports Tickets

Let me guess. You thought we just sold tickets to the hottest shows in New York and London right? Don't get me wrong. Most of our business comes from Broadway and the West End. That doesn't mean we don't sell other things as well. Like football, baseball, and basketball.

I myself am a huge New York Knicks fan and can't wait until the season starts. October 3 can not come soon enough my friends. Now besides basketball, my other favorite sport is professional wrestling.

Yes I know it's fake. Who doesn't? It's still entertaining as hell. Over the years, I have been to over a dozen wrestling shows including the Royal Rumble at Madison Square Garden, as well as a live taping of Monday Night Raw at the Barclay's Center.Coming up on the horizon is football and once again it looks like the Giants will be a contender.

I know. I know. Don't jinx it. So there you have it folks. Call Applause now when you want tickets to see New York's favorite team or any team or event Nationwide. It's what we do. Until next time sports fans.

What To See In New York City

Image result for new york city animated picWhat a strange Summer theatre fans. One day it's hotter than....well you know. Then there are days like today where a fan or air conditioner isn't necessary. Make up your mind will you? Oh well. I guess I shouldn't really complain because my favorite season is just around the corner. FALL!!!

And what better to celebrate it than by seeing a show? Or maybe theatre isn't your thing? Now don't get me wrong. I love the theatre. And let's face it. New York City is the theatre capitol of the world. Doesn't mean there are aren't other things to see and do while you are here. Take me out to the ballgame anyway?

Or maybe basketball is more your scene. Being a huge New York Knicks fan, I can tell you that there is no better feeling than seating in the stands watching your home team play. Even when they lose. Or maybe you are more into Opera or ballet? We sell that too. That's what is so great about New York City. There truly is something for everyone. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did. Until next time New York fans.

Twenty-Six Years And Counting Blue Man Group Is A Hit

Blue Man GroupAugust 17, 1991. Care to guess what happened on that date? Well you guessed correctly if you said that was the date that Blue Man Group opened Off-Broadway. Hard to believe it's been that long since this unique and innovative show took New York City by storm. Not too mention the world.

Now I'll admit that I have never seen the show. In fact in all the years that I have lived in New York, I have only seen maybe two or three shows Off-Broadway. Thankfully Blue Man Group is not going anywhere anytime soon. Who knows? I just might have to check it out one of these days. Now for those of you who haven't seen the show, or for those of you who want to see it again, you are in luck. We sell it.

Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru October 1, it is for select seats, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theatre. Kelsey Grammer To Make London Stage Debut

Image result
That's right theatre fans. Frasier Crane is headed to the West End. No, they are not making a musical version of the beloved NBC sitcom. Kelsey Grammer, who was nominated for a Tony Award in 2011 for La Cage Aux Folles, and most recently starred on Broadway in Finding Neverland, will make his London debut in the musical Big Fish.

The show, which premiered on Broadway in October 2013, will begin performances at The Other Palace in London on November 1, and play thru December 31. The Broadway production, which received mixed reviews, ran less than four months, and was a financial flop.

Here's hoping the London production fares better. Fingers crossed. Oh and one more thing, We will be selling tickets to the show. Well that and every other show in London. Get your tickets to see Kelsey Grammer in Big Fish at The Other Palace in London. Until next time theatre fans.

Drama At The Great Comet

Natasha, Pierre & The Great Comet of 1812Exciting news theatre fans. Tony winner, and Broadway legend Mandy Patinkin is joining the cast of Natasha, Pierre and the Great Comet of 1812. Wait a minute. Not so fast. Less than twenty-four hours after the acclaimed actor was announced to take over the leading role of Pierre from fellow actor Okieriete “Oak” Onaodowan, he issued the following statement to the New York Times.

“My understanding of the show’s request that I step into the show is not as it has been portrayed and I would never accept a role knowing it would harm another actor,” Mr. Patinkin said. “I hear what members of the community have said and I agree with them. I am a huge fan of Oak and I will, therefore, not be appearing in the show.”

Mr Pantinkin was scheduled to begin performances on August 15 and play thru September 3. It was also announced that Mr. Onaodowan, who took over for Tony nominee Josh Groban on July 11, will not be returning to the production. While sales have dropped since Mr. Groban departed on July 2, the show continues to gross high numbers at the box office. Here's hoping this latest controversy won't effect ticket sales, and the show will continue to run for the foreseeable future. Until next time theatre fans.
