Pop Star Ingrid Michaelson To Make Broadway Debut in The Great Comet

Ingrid Michaelson Live.jpgLet me just start off by saying that Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812 was one of my favorite shows from last season. The show, which received twelve Tony Award nominations, including Best Musical of the Year, is set to welcome a new addition to it's celebrated cast.

Ingrid Michaelson, the Staten Island born singer-songwriter, will make her Broadway debut in the role of Sonya from July 3 thru August 13. Now I'll be honest, I had to do a little research as I was not that familiar with her work.

Until I went to YouTube that is, and realized not only did I know a couple of her songs, but I actually liked them. Who would have thought? Tickets for the singer's limited engagement are now on sale. Not only that, but you can get tickets to see Ingrid Michaelson at some incredible rates.

Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good from July 3 thru August 31, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Ingrid Michaelson on Broadway in Natasha, Pierre, and the Great Comet of 1812. Until next time theatre fans.

New Block Of Tickets For Dear Evan Hansen Now On Sale

Dear Evan HansenThat's right theatre fans. This year's big Tony winner is now on sale thru June 2018. That's a full year for those of you keeping count. Dear Evan Hansen, which won six Tony Awards, including Best Musical of the Year, is one of Broadway's hottest shows.

That doesn't mean you can't get tickets. On the contrary. It just means you might have to spend a little more than you do for other shows. Thankfully the theatre is not very big, so that means that most of the seats are pretty good. Be advised however there are some seats that are partial view.

Although to be honest you really don't miss that much. According to the box office it's less than five percent of the show. Not too bad right? Now for those of you who are looking to purchase tickets to see Dear Evan Hansen, you are in luck. We sell it.

In fact, we sell every play and musical on Broadway as well as London. Get your tickets to see Dear Evan Hansen on Broadway at the Music Box Theatre. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical SpongeBob SquarePants To Open On Broadway This Fall

Now I'll be the first to admit that I have never seen one episode of SpongeBob SquarePants. Look I know how popular the show is. After all the show has been on the air since 1999. Now here we are eighteen years later, and everyone's favorite sea sponge is headed to the Great White way.

The show, which premiered in June 2016 at the Oriental Theatre in Chicago, is set to begin previews at the historic Palace Theatre on November 6, 2017, with opening night scheduled for December 4. Shortly after the show opened, I posted the reviews on our website. Here they are again. Enjoy.

Chicago Sun-Times

The Chicago Tribune

The Stage Review

Pretty good I have to say. Here's hoping the New York critic's are just as positive. The new musical, which is conceived and directed by Tina Landau, features a score by Yolanda Adams, Steven Tyler and Joe Perry of Aerosmith, Sara Bareilles, Jonathan Coulton, Alexander Ebert of Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, The Flaming Lips, John Legend, Lady Antebellum, and Cyndi Lauper.

Quite the lineup don't you think? As of now no on sale date has been announced. Stay tuned to this site for further updates. Get your tickets to see SpongeBob SquarePants on Broadway at the Palace Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

WickedThis week's customer story comes all the way from the "Peach State". That's right. I am talking about the great state of Georgia. Douglasville to be exact. Last week, I received a call from a customer who was coming to New York at the end of the week, and wanted to see a show while she was here.

I asked her what she wanted to see, and her first and only choice was Wicked, as the trip was a birthday gift for her daughter who was turning eighteen. Plus Wicked was her favorite show. Quite the birthday gift don't you think? So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see, I asked her how she had heard of us?

As it turns out a friend of hers had used our service  last week and highly recommended us. In the end I was able to get her great seats in the Front Mezzanine, and at a price that was lower than she had seen on other sites. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Since 2004 I have been selling tickets to hundreds of different shows and events at Applause Theatre and Entertainment Service. In that time I have had the pleasure of speaking to customers from all walks of life.

From regular folks off the street, to concierges at some of the finest hotels in New York City. Yes sir, I have seen and done it all. However today's blog is about a very special group of people. I am of course talking about the travel agent industry.

The truth is if it wasn't for the travel industry, we might not still be in business after all these years. For that and that I alone, I say thank you. Now for those of you travel agents out there that have never used us, I have some great news. For every ticket that you purchase on behalf of your client, you will receive a commission of ten dollars.

Not only that, but if the tickets are for you, or anyone else in your party, you will all receive a discount. Oh and don't forget that we don't just sell tickets to Broadway. We sell tickets to every show and event around the world. Who knew? Plus we are open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all of your ticket needs. What To See In The West End

Before I start, I just want to offer my condolences to London and it's amazing people. Tragedies like these are hard to understand. All we can do is find a way to come together and continue to remain strong during these sad times. Now I personally have never been to London. Although truth be told, it has been a dream of mine for as long as I can remember.

Here's hoping I get the chance to go very soon. Now for those of you that are heading to London in the next few months, I have some exciting news. We sell tickets to every show. The only question you have to ask is what to see why you are there? As we speak there are over eighty plays and musicals playing in London. Here are a just a few of the shows you might want to check out during your stay.

42nd Street Tickets42nd Street- Based on the 1933 Busby Berkeley movie, 42nd Street is now playing at the Drury Lane Theatre where it is scheduled to play thru February 2018. Featuring a score that includes such classic songs like, "We're In The Money", "Lullaby of Broadway", "Shuffle Off To Buffalo", and it's title song, 42nd Street is one show you don't want to miss.

Dreamgirls-Has it really been thirty-five years since Dreamgirls took the theatre world by a storm? Time sure does fly. Now here we are all these years later and the show is just as exciting as it was back in 1982. The show, which stars television and Dancing With the Stars winner Amber Riley (Glee), opened to rave reviews when it opened at the Savoy Theatre last November. Directed and choreographed by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw (The Book of Mormon, Aladdin), Dreamgirls tells the story of the Dreams, three female singers from the mean streets of Detroit, who's meteoric rise soon brings them fame and fortune.

The Simon and Garfunkel Story- What's that you say? Another jukebox musical headed to the stage? What will they think of next? Now I don't know about you, but this show sounds like one that I want to see. I mean who doesn't love Simon and Garfunkel? Featuring such amazing tunes like, "Bridge Over Troubles Waters', "Mrs. Robinson", Sound of Silence", and "Homeward Bound", The Simon and Garfunkel Story is set to begin previews at the Lyric Theatre on September 4. I smell a hit!

Dreamgirls TicketsYoung Frankenstein- You've seen the movie. Now see the show. Based on the classic Mel Brook's film, Young Frankenstein is one of the most enjoyable shows that I have ever seen. The show, which is being directed and choreographed by five-time Tony winner Susan Stroman (The Producers, Contact), is set to begin performances at the Garrick Theatre on September 28. As of now the show is only on sale thru February 10, 2018. Here's hoping the show is well received.

Quiet the lineup don't you think? Oh and don't forget that we sell all of them. Not only that, but Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all of your ticket needs. Until next time theatre fans.

On Your Feet To Close

On Your Feet!Sad news theatre fans. One of Broadway's most exciting shows is preparing to take it's final bow. On Your Feet, which is based on the lives of Grammy winner Gloria Estefan and her husband producer and musician Emilio Estefan, will play it's final performance at the Marquis Theatre on August 20. When it closes it will have played a total of thirty-four previews and seven hundred and forty-six performances.

Now I'll be honest, when they first announced that they were making a musical about the talented duo, I wasn't sure how it was going to do. Don't get me wrong. I love her music. It's just that over the years most jukebox musicals have either been very successful like Jersey Boys and Beautiful, or big flops like Ring of Fire or Come Fly Away.

Therefore there was no guarantee that On Your Feet would be a hit. Cut to a few weeks later, and the show opened to rave reviews from critics and audiences alike. Now while the Broadway production may be closing, the show will not be gone for long. Beginning this Fall, the show will begin a thirty-one city national tour.

There are also plans to open the show in Spain, Italy, Germany, France, Mexico, and Japan. By the way, for those of you who still want to see the show you are in luck. We sell it. In fact you can now get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru August 20, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Customer Story

Romeo and JulietToday's customer story comes all the way from the great state of California. Lodi to be exact. A few days ago I received a call from a travel agent who's client was going to London next month, and wanted to see a show while they were there.

Their choice? Why none other than William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet. Good choice don't you think? After all London is famous for Shakespeare. Not only that, but they get to see it at the world famous Shakespeare Globe Theatre.

I have to admit I'm kind of jealous. Looks like I need to plan a trip to England. But enough about me. In the end I got them great tickets in the center of the Middle Gallery, and at a price that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Blue Man Group

Blue Man GroupAugust 17, 1991 Care to guess what happened on that date? Believe it or not but on that date Blue Man Group opened Off-Broadway at the Astor Place Theatre. That's over twenty-six years for those of you mathematicians out there. A few months after moving to New York I had the opportunity to see the show for the first time. To be honest I wasn't sure what to expect. The truth is up until that point the my Broadway experience was limited to shows like Miss Saigon and Crazy For You.

Both good shows, and both housed at very large theatres as well.  So imagine my surprise when I headed down to the village to see this tiny little show in the East Village. Cut to an hour and forty minutes later and I couldn't believe my eyes. What a fantastic night in the theatre. Cut to twenty-five years later and I got to see the show once again.

Now I know what you're thinking. Is the show just as good as it was back then? No. It was better. Who would have thought? Now for those of you who still haven't see the show I have some great news. We sell it. Not only that, but it is now possible to get tickets to see the show at some incredible rates Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru October 1, it for select seats, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Blue Man Group at the Astor Place Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

OsloThis week's customer story comes all the way from the greatest city in the world. That's right. I am talking about New York City. Last week I heard from one of our regular customers who lives believe it or not, just a few subway stops from our office in Times Square.

Now I know what you're thinking. Couldn't she just walk up to the box office herself and purchase the tickets? Sure. But she didn't want to do that. The truth is that she has been a regular customer of ours for many, many years, and quite frankly loves the service that we provide her.

Plus she knows that by using a licensed ticket broker, she doesn't have to worry that we are going to take her money and not get her the tickets. I mean would we still be in business after thirty years if we did that? I don't think so. In the end I got her great seats in the Center Loge for Olso, and on an aisle. Another satisfied customer. Will be next?

Exciting news theatre fans. One of this season's most critically acclaimed new musicals is headed to the Great White Way.

The Band's Visit, which won two Lucille Lortel Awards, including Outstanding Musical, will begin previews at the Ethel Barrymore Theatre on October 7, with opening night scheduled for November 9.

Based on the award winning 2007 film, The Band's Visit tells the story of the Alexandria Ceremonial Police Band, who are hired to play at the opening of a new cultural center in Israel. Shortly after their arrival, they discover that not only have their hosts not arrived, but they are in the wrong place, with no transportation and no place to stay.

The show, which is being directed by David Cromer (Our Town), features a score by Tony nominee David Yazbeck (The Full Monty, Dirty Rotten Scoundrels.), and a book by Itamar Moses. As of now no casting or on sale date has been announced. Stay tuned to this site for future updates. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Dear Evan HansenThis week's customer story comes all the way from the "Buckeye State". That's right. I'm talking about the great state of Ohio. Dayton to be exact. A few days ago I received a call from a travel agent who's client was coming to New York next month and wanted to see a show.

Their choice? Why none other than one of this season's biggest hits. That's right theatre fans. I'm talking about the nine-time Tony Award nominee Dear Evan Hansen. So now that I knew what they wanted to see, I needed to find out when they wanted to see it, and more importantly how much they wanted to spend.

After all, Dear Evan Hansen is one of the most expensive shows on Broadway. In the end I got them great seats in the Orchestra in Row J, and on an aisle. Not only that, but the price was lower than they had seen on another site. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

King Kong Musical Headed To The Great White Way

Image resultOh come on. You knew it was going to happen eventually. After all they made a musical out of Spider-Man didn't they? Granted the show was a huge flop, despite running for over three years.

King Kong, which first premiered at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne Australia in June 2013, is set to open on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre in the Fall of 2018.

The show, which was co-written by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child author Jack Thorne, has had quite the journey since it's premier down under.

Since that time the show has gone thru multiple writer's and directors. Hopefully this new creative team can come together and make the show a hit. As of now no on sale date has been announced. Stay tuned to this website for more information. Until next time theatre fans.
