Customer Story

The Phantom of the OperaThis week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Alabama. Andalusia to be exact. Don't feel bad. I've never heard of it either. A few days ago, I received a call from a travel agent who's client was coming to New York next month and wanted to see a show while they were here.

Their choice? Why none other than The Phantom of the Opera. Now by this point I assumed that everyone in the world had seen that show. I guess I was wrong. So anyway, after finding out what they wanted to see and when, I asked them where they wanted to sit, and more importantly how much they wanted to spend.

Now because the show has been playing for almost three decades I knew I would have no problem getting them good seats. In the end, I got them seats in the side Front Mezzanine, and at a rate that was lower than they had seen on another site. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

New Musical Bandstand To Open Tonight On Broadway

BandstandAnother opening. Another show. That's right theatre fans. It's that time again. Time to welcome another show to the Great White Way. Not only that, but it's one of the few new musicals to open this season that is not based on a successful movie. Imagine that? Bandstand, which began previews at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre on March 31, stars two-time Tony nominee Laura Osnes (Bonnie and Clyde, Cinderella), and Corey Cott (Newsies, Gigi).

Plus it is being directed and choreographed by two-time Tony winner Andy Blankenbuehler (Hamilton, In The Heights). So what exactly is the show all about? Well I'll tell you. Set in the "Big Band" era during World War II, Bandstand tells the story of struggling singer-songwriter Donny Novitski and his fellow army buddies. When a national radio station sponsors a contest to find the next big sensation, Donny and his buddies team up with singer and war widow hoping that a win will change all of their lives. Well I'm sold.

By the way for those of you who are looking to purchase tickets for the show, you are in luck. We sell it. In fact if you call right now you can get tickets to see Bandstand at some incredible rates. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru June 20, it is for select seats, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Bandstand on Broadway at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Carousel To Return To Broadway Next Season

Image result for carousel broadway logoNow let me just start off by saying that I am a huge Rodger's and Hammerstein fan. I have been ever since I saw The Sound of Music in the fifth grade. That was the movie version mind you. Not the stage production. In fact the first Rodger's and Hammerstein musical that I saw on stage was Carousel.

Now here we are thirty years later and I will finally get to see it again. Only this time it will be on Broadway as opposed to a hot gymnasium in Southern Illinois. The show, which first premiered on Broadway in 1945, is set to open on March 23, 2018. Starring in the leading roles of Billy Bigelow and Julie Jordan, are Tony nominee Joshua Henry (Hamilton), and Tony winner Jessie Mueller (Waitress).

Joining them in this beloved musical is opera legend Renee Fleming as Nettie Fowler. Now that is what I call great casting. Directing the show is three-time Tony Award winner Jack O'Brien (Hairspray), with choreography by Justin Peck, who is currently the resident choreographer at the New York City Ballet. As of now no theatre or on sale date has been announced. Stay tuned to this blog for future updates. Until next time theatre fans.

Kevin Spacy To Host Tony Awards

Image result for tony awardColor me surprised. Now if you'd have told me a couple of weeks ago that Kevin Spacy would be hosting this year's Tony Awards, I would have called you crazy. Don't get me wrong. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. After all he is a two-time Academy Award winner. Not too mention a Tony Award winner for Neil Simon's Lost In Yonkers. Trust me. He will be fine.

Nominations for this year's Tony Awards are set to be announced by Tony nominee Christopher Jackson (Hamilton, In The Heights), and Tony winner Jane Krakowski (She Loves Me, Nine) on Tuesday May 2 at 8:30am. So far this season there are thirty-six plays and musicals that are eligible for this years awards. Who will win this years top prize? Find out on Sunday June 11 at 8pm on CBS. Until next time theatre fans.

What To See In London

Now I'll admit that I have never been to London. It's not that I don't want to go. I just haven't done it. Yet. It's kind of ironic when you think about all of the blogs that I have written on the London theatre scene over the years. Thankfully, I have gotten the chance to see a lot of the shows that got there start in London, before coming to Broadway. Now for those of you that are heading to London, you are in luck. We sell every show in London. Of course the big question is what to see while you are there? As we speak there are over sixty-five plays and musicals playing in London. Here are a few you might want to check out while you are there.

Lady Day At Emerson's Bar and Grill- Starring six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald as music legend Billie Holiday. The show, which will run from June 17 thru September 9, was scheduled to play last year. However due to Ms. McDonald's unexpected pregnancy, the show was postponed until this year. Trust me. This is one show that you do not want to miss.

Bat Out Of Hell- Can I tell you how excited I am about this show? If anything could make me head over to London this show would be it. Based on the multi-platinum selling album, Bat Out Of Hell features seventeen of Meat Loaf's greatest songs including I'd Do Anything For Love, Paradise By The Dashboard Light, You Took The Words Right Out Of My Mouth, Two Out Of Three Ain't Bad, and it's title song Bat Out Of Hell. As of now the show is only scheduled to play for short run. Here's hoping it extends.

Thriller-Live- Now in it's eighth celebrated year, Thriller-Live continues to excite audiences off all ages eight times a week at the Lyric Theatre. Not only does it feature all of Michael Jackson's solo hits, but songs from his days as part of the Jackson 5. Now if that doesn't make you want to see it than I don't know what will. Now I'm a huge Michael Jackson fan. So I'll admit that I was a little skeptical about the show. Then I saw a few clips from the London production. Let's just say that I was quite impressed. Hopefully you will too.

Now as I mentioned, those are just a few of the exciting plays and musicals playing in London. And don't forget, that we sell of all of them too. Just give one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause a call ,and we will do the rest. Also don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all of your ticket needs. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

The Book of MormonToday's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Kansas. Holton to be exact. Last week, I received a call from a customer who was planning a trip to New York next month, and wanted to see a show. Her choice? Why none other than the 2011 Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year, The Book of Mormon.

Now I love the show. In fact I've seen it three times. However I do like to advise customers about the content of the show just in case. After all, The Book of Mormon is not for everybody. As it turns out, she had already seen the show in Chicago, and simply wanted to see it again.

Plus because she had the New York Pass, she was able to get a discount on the tickets. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the New York Pass, it is a great deal that gets you discounts on tours and events around the New York City area.

Not to mention a great discount on theatre tickets as well. In the end, I was able to get her great seats in the Center Mezzanine, and at a price that was lower than she was expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Baseball Season Is Finally Here

Image result for mets logoThat's right sports fans. Baseball is alive in the Big Apple. Now I'll admit, that I've always been more of a basketball fan. However, I have attended several New York Mets games over the years.

Now I don't know if I had anything to do with it, but every time I went to one of their games, they won. Coincidence? I think not. Now of course we all know that New York City has another baseball team as well. Ever hear of the twenty-seven time World Series Champs the New York Yankees?

Of course you have. Oh and did I mention that we sell tickets to each and every game for both the Mets and the Yankees? Well we do. That also includes away games too. Who knew? Listed below are both teams schedules for the rest of the season. Now let's play some baseball. Until next time sports fans.

Group Tickets And Applause Theatre Service

School of RockHaving worked at Applause for over a decade, I have sold thousand of tickets to the theatre. Now the truth is most of our customers are looking for individual tickets, ranging anywhere from one to six tickets. However today I am here to talk about another group of customers. Which is ironic because I am talking about group tickets.

As a matter of fact, in the last few months or so we have seen an increase in the number of people buying group tickets for various shows. From school groups, to travel agents booking multiple shows, Applause sells it all and then some. Need forty tickets for Wicked this Summer? No problem.

How about tickets to see School of Rock or The Phantom of the Opera for less then it's normal retail price? We can offer that too. Plus not only do we sell every event in New York, but all shows and events in London, as well as all major cities in the United States. How many companies do you know that offer that kind of service? Not too many my friends. So why not give us a try? You'll be glad you did. Until next time theatre fans.

Now Is The Best Time To Come To New York And See A Show

Broadway Ticket NewsHeading to the Big Apple in the next few months? Now of course you're going to see a show or two while you're here right? After all we are the theatre capitol of the world. The only question is what to see.

Here's a thought. Why not see all of them? Just kidding. I love the theatre, but even that would be too much for me. As we speak there are thirty-six shows playing on the Great White Way. From A Bronx Tale to Wicked, Broadway is home to some of the most exciting and innovative shows on the planet. That's what makes Broadway so great. There truly is something for everyone.

Not only that, but most of those shows have "Insider Prices", which means you can see some of your favorite shows at prices that can't be beat. Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Also don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week. 365 days a year. That means we are always here to help with all your ticket needs. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Arkansas. White Hall to be exact. Last week, I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York, and wanted to see a show. As I do with all of our customers, I asked her how she heard of us.

She told me that she had recently purchased the New York Pass. What's the New York Pass you ask? Well I'll tell you. The New York Pass is a great deal, that gives you discounts on tours and events around the New York City area. Plus of course they get a great discount on theatre tickets as well.

So anyway, after squaring that away, I asked her what she wanted to see. Her choice? The Golden Cockerel. Don't feel bad. I've never heard of it either. As it turns out, it's a Russian Ballet playing at the Metropolitan Opera. Anyway after a little research, I found some great seats in the Center Balcony. Not only that, but they were available at a price that was lower than she expected. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Baseball is just around the corner,  and this morning, while watching an old movie channel, I was reminded how close it really is and how excited I am.  “Angels in the Outfield” and “The Jackie Robinson Story” movies were on -- 2 of the best movies  about our American pass time.

Now, I do like the NY Mets, but I repeat, I love my NY Yankees!  I can watch a baseball game on TV anytime, or go to a baseball game almost any day for the next 5 months, and if we are lucky enough, a game or two in October.

Baseball’s opening day is April 2, and the  NY Yankees opening day at Yankee Stadium is April 10th!  So, if you are looking for baseball tickets for any game, anywhere.. Applause Tickets can help you!  Just give us a call at 212-307-7050.

New Historical Drama Oslo Now Playing On Broadway

OsloI can't tell you how excited I am about seeing this show. Not only were the reviews outstanding, but the show is playing at one of my favorite theatres, the Vivian Beaumont. Since 1992, I have seen more plays and musicals in that theatre than any theatre in New York City.

What can I say? Lincoln Center Theatre never fails to disappoint this theatre fan. The show,  which opened to rave reviews at it's downstairs theatre, the Mitzi Newhouse, began previews on March 23, with opening night scheduled for April 13.

So what is the show all about? Well I'll tell you. Set in 1993, Oslo is based on the real life negotiations between the Israeli and Palestinian leaders. Now I could tell you more, but why ruin the surprise. By the way, for those of you who would like tickets to see the show, you are in luck.

We sell it. Not only that, but if you call now you get tickets to see this real life drama at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru June 18, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Oslo on Broadway at the Vivian Beaumont Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Anastasia Is Now In Previews

AnastasiaWhat's that you say? A new musical based on a movie? Now to be fair it was a movie musical. An animated one that is of course. Anastasia, which was released to critical acclaim in 1997, begins performances tonight at the Broadhurst Theatre, with opening night scheduled for April 24.

The show, which features a score by Tony winners Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Rocky The Musical), and a book by Tony winner Terrence McNally (Master Class,  Kiss Of The Spider Women), is being directed by fellow Tony winner Darko Tresnjak (A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder).

So what exactly is the show all about? Well I'll tell you. Set in Paris, during the height of the Russian Empire, this new musical tells the story of Anastasia, the youngest daughter of Czar Nicholas II, whose entire family was executed by the Bolshevik secret police in 1918. However Anastasia's fate remained a mystery for many years, as the location of her burial was unknown during the Communist rule.

Now for those of you who would like tickets to see Anastasia, you have come to the right place. Not only that, but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru May 28, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Anastasia on Broadway at the Broadhurst Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Miss Saigon To Open Tonight On Broadway

Miss SaigonHas it really been twenty-six years since Miss Saigon first took Broadway by storm? I mean I remember when it first opened back in 1991, and I thought it was one of the greatest cast recordings that I had ever heard. Now here we are in 2017 and Miss Saigon is back where it belongs. In fact it's playing at it's original home, the Broadway Theatre. I know I'm excited about it.

Now no matter what the critic's have to say, I have no doubt that this new production is going to be a hit. As of now the show is scheduled to close on January 13, 2018. Although I would not be surprised if it extends. Fingers crossed. By the way for those of you who want to see the show, you are in luck. We sell it.

Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see Miss Saigon at some incredible rates. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru June 10, it is not valid for performances from April 10-16, and May 26-27. Get your tickets to see Miss Saigon on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Now Is The Best Time To See Aladdin On Broadway

AladdinStill haven't seen Aladdin yet? Well there is no better time than the present. The show, which is now in it's fourth year on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre, is one of the most entertaining shows you will ever see. Now I'll admit that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. In fact when I got invited to see the show, I wasn't sure if I was going to go.

Thankfully a co-worker of mine convinced me to see it. What a pleasant surprise. I dare say I was grinning from ear to ear from the first number to the last. Who would have thought? Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show I have some great news. We sell it. In fact if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that are lower than ever.

By the way, for those of you that are not familiar with the New Amsterdam Theatre, it is one of the largest on Broadway. Now I know what you're thinking. Surely all the seats can't be a full view if  the theatre is so big right? Wrong. Oh sure some of the seats may be a little further away then others, but they all have a full view of the stage. How many theatres can say that? Not too many my friends. Get your tickets to see Aladdin on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theatre. You will love it. Until next time theatre fans.

New Musical Based On Liberace To Hit The Stage

Liberace 8 Allan Warren.jpgHard to believe but it's been over thirty years since "Mr. Showmanship" has passed away. Liberace, who's career spawned four decades, was one of the world's most successful entertainers prior to his death on February 4, 1987. Throughout his illustrious career he was honored with two Emmy Awards, six gold albums, and two stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Pretty impressive for a guy who grew up as the son of a poor immigrant from Italy. Now comes the news that this beloved entertainers life story is headed to the stage. The show, which is based on the 2013 Emmy Award winning film Behind The Candelabra, has been in the works since 2015. As of now no creative team or cast have been announced. Stay tuned to this blog for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.
