Does Broadway really need another jukebox musical? It does when the show is about 70's disco diva herself, Ms. Donna Summer. Donna: The Donna Summer Musical, is scheduled to begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre, with opening night set for April 23.The show, which just finished a run at the award winning La Jolla Playhouse in California, features over twenty of Donna Summer's biggest hit's including, "Hot Stuff", "Bad Girl's", "Last Dance", "Love To Love You Baby" and "She Work's Hard For The Money", and many, many more. But wait. There's more. Directing the show is two-time Tony Award winner Des McAnuff, with choreography by Tony nominee and Olivier Award winner Sergio Trujillo.
You may recall those two from their work on the Tony Award winning musical Jersey Boys, which recently returned to the New York stage, following a twelve year run on the Great White Way. Will lighting strike twice? Here's hoping. As of now, no casting has been announced. Stay tuned to this site for further updates.
