Lin-Manuel Miranda's Freestyle Love Supreme To Open On Broadway This October

freestyle love supreme Broadway Show TicketsThat's right theatre fans. Lin-Manuel Miranda is headed back to the Great White Way. Now before you get all excited, the Tony and Grammy Award actor/composer is not starring in the show. He is merely the co-creator alongside fellow Tony Award winning director Thomas Kail (Hamilton), and Anthony Veneziale. Freestyle Love Supreme, which played a sold out engagement Off-Broadway at the Ars Nova’s Greenwich House Theate, will begin previews at the Booth Theatre on September 13, with opening night scheduled for October 2.

As of now the show is scheduled to play a limited engagement thru January 5, 2020. That's sixteen weeks for you math wizards. Now it should be noted that during the shows Off-Broadway engagement, it featured several cameos by not only creator Lin-Manuel Miranda, but past and current Hamilton stars Tony Award nominee Christopher Jackson, and Tony Award winners James Monroe Iglehart and Daveed Diggs. I wonder who will show up for the Broadway run? We shall see. Get your tickets to see Freestyle Love Supreme on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

In the Heights Tour 2009 : Brought to you by a rapping Lin-Manuel

Any fans of In the Heights are familiar with its funny and energetic writer, musical composer, and former leading-man: Lin-Manuel Miranda. The young star has proved himself to be a very creative and inspired character on Broadway. Lin-Manuel wrote the first version of In the Heights back in 2000, and it took almost seven years before the show had its first run Off-Broadway. Just over a year later, the show moved to Broadway and received 13 Tony Award nominations of which it won four.

The score Lin-Manuel wrote for In The Heights received awards for Best Score and Best Orchestration. In addition, the Original Cast Album for the show reached number 82 on the Billboards Top 200 Chart. But Lin-Manuel’s musical aspirations proved to reach beyond his Broadway show. Back at Wesleyan University, Lin-Manuel had joined the rap group Freestyle Love Supreme. Since then, the troupe has performed all across the world. Their show is based on a simple idea – getting words from the audience and using them in freestyle rap songs. And now, to promote the 2009 Tour for In the Heights, Lin-Manuel and his group created this video. The video is based off of the Jay-Z song "Run This Town," which sits at number 3 on the Billboard hot 100.

Lin-Manuel also displayed his rap skills in a NSFW guest spot in a skit for CollegeHumor’s Hardly Working series. We wish Lin all the best with the In the Heights Tour and with his hip-hop group.
