Girl From The North Country Now In Previews

Girl From the North CountryNow unless you've been living under a rock for the past fifty years, I'm guessing you've heard of Bob Dylan. In fact, I dare say that most of you can probably recite a few of his songs from memory. My personal favorite is "The Hurricane".

Although I do love "Tambourine Man"as well as "The Times They Are A Changin".But enough about what I like. Girl From The North Country, which first premiered at the Old Vic Theatre in London in 2017, began previews last night at the Belasco Theatre, with opening night scheduled for March 5.

Featuring a book and direction by Tony and Olivier Award nominee Conor McPherson, Girl From The North Country takes place in Duluth, Minnesota during the height of the Great Depression, and tells the tale of the Laine family, owners of the local guesthouse, who's future is being threatened with foreclosure by the bank.

The show, which also played a critically acclaimed Off-Broadway run at the Public Theatre in 2018, will star Tony Award nominees Marc Kudisch, David Pittu, and Mare Winningham, along side Todd Almond, Jeannette BayardelleMatthew Frederick HarrisCaitlin HoulahanRobert JoyLuba MasonBen MayneTom Nelis, Colton RyanJohn SchiappaKimber Elayne SprawlRachel Sternand Chelsea Lee Williams

Believe it or not, but this is not the first Bob Dylan musical to grace the Broadway stage. In 2006, Tony Award winner Twyla Tharp premiered a new musical called The Times They Are a-Changin. Unfortunately reviews were not good, and the show closed after nine weeks. Somehow I think this show will fare a lot better. Fingers crossed.

Now for those of you who want tickets to see Girl From The North Country, you are in luck. We sell it. Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru April 30, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Girl From The North Country on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Bob Dylan Musical Girl From The North Country To Open on Broadway In 2020

Girl from the North Country (musical).jpgIn the Fall of 2006, I saw a new musical based on the music of Bob Dylan called "The Times They Are a-Changin'. Now to be honest, I was really looking forward to it as the show's director Tony Award winner Twyla Tharp, was also the director and creator of Movin Out.

I loved that show. Of course it also helped that the show featured the music of my favorite songwriter Grammy and Tony Award winner Billy Joel. Now while I think Bob Dylan is one of the greatest songwriter's of all time, the story was not the greatest.

Plus being a writer myself, if the book is weak, it can really effect the show. No matter how great the music. Having said that, I am looking forward to seeing the latest Bob Dylan musical. Featuring direction and a book by Tony Award nominee and Olivier Award winner Conor McPherson (The Weir, The Seafarer), and over twenty classic Bob Dylan songs including "Like A Rolling Stone", "Make You Feel My Love", "Hurricane", "Forever Young", "Jokerman", Girl From The North Country is scheduled to begin previews at the Belasco Theatre on February 7, 2020, with opening night set for March 5.

Set in Duluth, Minnesota, during the height of the Great Depression, Girl From The North Country, tells the tale of the Laine family, owners of the local guesthouse, who's future is being threatened with foreclosure by the bank. An on sale date for tickets has yet to be announced. Be sure to check this website for future updates. Get your tickets to see Girl From The North Country on Broadway at the Belasco Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.
