In The Heights To Launch National Tour

That's right theatre fans. In The Heights, my favorite show and the 2008 Tony Award winner for Best Musical, is hitting the road. The show which opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre in March of 2008 will be launch on October 27 at the Tampa Bay Performing Arts Center. This is good news for those of you who love the show but haven't been able to make it to New York to see it. Future cities and dates have yet to be announced. If you get the chance I highly recommend you see the show when it comes to a city near you. It is amazing. Latino's Rejoice! In The Heights Is #1

Those of you who read my blogs or those who know me or work with me at Applause know how much I love In The Heights. It is by far my favorite show running on Broadway and one of my favorites of all time. Even as I write this I am listening to the cast recording. In other words, "I LOVE THIS SHOW!"

Now for those of you who haven't seen it I suggest you do. It has got everything you could possibly want in a Broadway musical. Great music. Amazing choreography. Not to mention one of the sexiest and talented casts on Broadway today. The show also won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical. They don't just give that award to just anyone you know. In The Heights was not only the best show that season but one of the best shows of the past decade. Look I can go on and on about how great this show is but you need to find out for yourself. The ball is in your court.

Who will win the Best Musical Tony Award in 2008?

I have seen just about every show on Broadway this season except for one I think. I enjoyed all the shows that are in the running to win the much coveted Tony Award in 2008 for Best Musical.

Cry-Baby
In The Heights
Passing Strange
Xanadu

Although all four of these very unique shows were superb, each in their own unique way, I would cast my vote for In The Heights. This show is about the people that live in Washington Heights, a place where the windows are left open and you buy your coffee from the local bodega owner. It is a place where the music itself gets you feeling the very life and love these people have for their community and for each other. I had a great time with my wife and friends when I first saw the show a few months ago.

It is nominated for 13 Tony Awards and I can see the show winning maybe 5 or 6 of them, especially for 2008 Best Musical. Keep your fingers crossed, I feel a win for In The Heights coming on.
