King Kong Reviews

King KongWell theatre fans the reviews are in, and surprise, surprise, they are not great. Now to be honest I'm not all that surprised, despite my own personal review of the show that I posted a few weeks ago. Now will the reviews make a difference at the box office?

I don't know. Last week King Kong made $674,934.25 out of a potential $1,166,006. Of course the reviews certainly won't help. After all, the show cost over $35 million dollars to produce. We shall see. Now on to the reviews.

My Thoughts On King Kong The Musical

King KongLast Thursday, I walked into the Broadway Theatre to see King Kong. Now going in, I had no idea what to expect. Oh sure, I had seen videos from the Australian production, along with clips from the Broadway production as well. And yes, the gorilla, as well as the set was very impressive in both. But let's be honest shall we? You can't hum the scenery no matter how awesome it is.

So anyway, there I was in side Orchestra Row J getting ready for the show to start. Which by the way is still a very good view I might add. Now on to what I thought of the show. I loved it. From the opening number I was transformed to the exciting world of King King. Although truth be told, the magnificent beast didn't rear his head until about thirty or so minutes into the show.

Was it worth the wait? You better believe it. Now about the rest of the show. Did I walk out of the theatre humming the songs? No. But they were good and kept the plot moving along, which is what songs are supposed to so anyway. Plus there were quite a few funny moments, which I was not expecting either. I guess it goes to show, "You can't judge a book by it's cover." All in all it was a great night at the theatre, and if you get a chance, I strongly suggest you see it. Until next time theatre fans.

King Kong Musical Headed To The Great White Way

Image resultOh come on. You knew it was going to happen eventually. After all they made a musical out of Spider-Man didn't they? Granted the show was a huge flop, despite running for over three years.

King Kong, which first premiered at the Regent Theatre in Melbourne Australia in June 2013, is set to open on Broadway at the Broadway Theatre in the Fall of 2018.

The show, which was co-written by Harry Potter and the Cursed Child author Jack Thorne, has had quite the journey since it's premier down under.

Since that time the show has gone thru multiple writer's and directors. Hopefully this new creative team can come together and make the show a hit. As of now no on sale date has been announced. Stay tuned to this website for more information. Until next time theatre fans.
