Broadway Revival Of Once On This Island To Open Tonight

One of my biggest regrets, was never getting the chance to see the original Broadway production of Once On This Island. Although it probably didn't help that the show closed two months prior to me moving here.

Cut to almost twenty-six years later, and my dream of seeing the show has finally come true. So did I love it? You better believe it theatre fans. I just wish it hadn't taken me almost three decades to finally see it.

Broadway Revival Of Once On This Island Now In Previews

One of my favorite shows of all time is Once On This Island. Now when I found out that I was moving to New York, I was so excited. I mean it is the greatest city in the world after all. Plus I would get a chance to see this amazing musical. Unfortunately I moved here two months two late, as the show closed in December 1991.

Cut to some twenty-six years later and the eight-time Tony nominated show is headed back to the Great White Way. The show, which features a score by Tony winner's Stephen Flaherty and Lynn Ahrens (Ragtime, Anastasia), is set to open at the Circle in the Square Theatre on December 3.

Directed by Tony nominee Michael Arden (Spring Awakening), and choreographed by Camille A. Brown (Cabin In The Sky, tick, tick...BOOM!), Once On This Island stars Tony winner Lea Salonga (Miss Saigon, Allegiance) as Erzulie,Tony nominee Phillip Boykin (Porgy and Bess) as Tonton Julian, Merle Dandridge (Tarzan, Spamalot) as Papa Ge, Quentin Earl Harrington (Cats, Ragtime) as Agwe, Alex Newell (Glee) as Asaka, and Broadway newcomer Hailey Kilgore as Ti Moune.

Now that is some cast theatre fans. Now for those of you who want to see the show, I have some great news. It is now possible to get tickets to see Once On This Island at prices that can't be beat. Theatre Announced For Broadway Revival Of Once On This Island

That's right theatre fans. The first Broadway revival of Once On This Island has found a home. The show, which began Off-Broadway at Playwright's Horizon in May 1990, before transferring to Broadway in October of that year, will begin previews at the Circle In The Square Theatre on November 9.

Opening night is scheduled for December 3. Now I love the show. Unfortunately it closed a few weeks before I moved here, so I never got to see it. You better believe I won't miss it this time around.

Tickets for the ninety minute musical are now on sale. Not only that, but we are selling them. Get your tickets to see Once On This Island on Broadway at the Circle In The Square Theatre. Who knows? You might just see me there. Until next time theatre fans.
