New York Rangers Are In The Finals

Let me just start off by saying that while I love my New York sports teams (Knicks, Mets) I will admit that I am not a big hockey fan. Now you would think that being a boxing and wrestling fan I would like it. I mean it has tons of violence too right? Well sometimes. Although now that they are in the finals I might just have to watch a game or two. After all I wasn't a basketball fan until the Knicks were in the finals fifteen years ago and now I am a huge fan if the New York Knicks. Who knows? Maybe I'll become a big Rangers fan too. Stranger things have happened.

But enough about me and what I like. You came here to hear about the Rangers. After their win last night against the Montreal Canadiens the Rangers are hoping to win their first Stanley Cup since 1994 which was also the last time they were in the finals. Prior to that the last time they won was back in 1940. That's fifty-four years for those of you mathematicians out there. Let's just hope they don't have to wait that long to hoist that trophy above their heads once again.

By the way for those of you out there looking to purchase tickets you are in luck. We sell them. Game 1 is scheduled for Wednesday June 4. The only question is whether or not that game will be in Chicago or Los Angeles. I myself am hoping it's Chicago as I spent the first eighteen years of my life in Illinois. Great. But who do I root for then? Well if I had to choose now I guess I would say the Rangers. After all I am a proud New Yorker through and through. How about you? Until next time sports fans.

Buying Tickets From A Broker

Now I don't know about you but I practically buy everything online. Well except groceries of course. Wouldn't want to give that up now would I? However when it comes to Christmas and Birthday presents I buy it all with just the click of the mouse. I mean who wants to spend hours in a crowded store with a bunch of total strangers? I know I don't. Well believe it or not but purchasing tickets to your favorite events is easy too. If you know who to call of course. The big question is who are you going to call? Ghostbusters! Sorry. I couldn't resist. The truth is there are literally hundreds of companies out there that sell tickets. Some of them even are even legitimate. Now the reason I say that is because there are certain companies out there that sell tickets that are...how can I put this...a little shady. I'm not pointing fingers mind you. I'm simply stating a fact. It's like that old saying. "Caveat Emptor". "Let the buyer beware". Important words to live by don't you think? I know if it was my money I would take the time to do a little research before I opened my wallet. I'm sure you would do the same. Calling yourself a ticket broker is one thing. Providing good customer service and knowing what you are talking about is another thing all together. It's just as important as knowing what you are buying and who you are buying from too. Like I said. It's your money. Spend it wisely.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes from the "Great Lakes" state. That's right. I am talking about Michigan. Ann Arbor to be exact. This past Saturday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to London in July and wanted to see a few shows while they were there. Their choices were Wicked, The Lion King an Matilda. Finally some shows that I have actually seen. Well in New York I should say. I have never been to London. Someday I hope. And well if I am being truly honest I only saw the first act of The Lion King. Not a big Disney fan. But those of you who read my blogs knew that already didn't you? Anyway enough about me. Back to my customer story. So after finding out what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they would be there and what type of seats they were looking for as well as how much they wanted to spend. Since they were going to be there for a week or so I suggested that maybe they should take off a day between each show in order to have more time to see the sights while they were there. I know that's what I would do if I ever visited there. Again. Enough about me. Thankfully they agreed with me and I was able to get them excellent seats for all three shows. Not only that but at a rate that was much lower than they were expecting. Well there you have it folks. Three great shows with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Pennsylvania. Philadelphia to be exact. A few days ago I received a call from one of our regular travel agents who's client was planning a trip to New York next month and wanted to see a few shows while they were here. Actually they wanted to see four shows. Their choices were Jersey Boys, Wicked, Of Mice and Men and last but not least The Book of Mormon. Sounds like a nice variety don't you think? So anyway after finding out what they wanted to see I asked the agent when they would be there and of course where they wanted to sit and more importantly how much they wanted to spend. After all tickets aren't cheap. Now because they were only going to be there for a short period of time they knew that they would have to see one show a day in order to squeeze them all in while they were there. Luckily for them I had good seats available for every performance. Oh and did I mention that they wanted Premium tickets for each show as well? They did. Sure they may be a little more expensive than the regular seats but you get what you pay for I guess. I would hope so at those prices. When all was said and done I was able to get him Center Front Mezzanine for The Book of Mormon and Center Orchestra for the other three shows. Plus they were a lot less than he was expecting. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Broadway's Tony Award Winning Musical Matilda For Less This Summer

Let me just start off by saying that when they first announced that Matilda was coming to Broadway a couple of years ago I really had no desire what so ever to see it. It just sounded like another children's show like Billy Elliot that was a big hit in London. In fact I waited three whole years before I finally got around to seeing that one and much to my surprise I actually enjoyed it. That didn't mean that I would enjoy Matilda. Besides it looked a little too British for me for my tastes. Of course I said the same thing about Billy Elliot too and I was wrong about that one too. Therefore instead of waiting another three years like I did with Billy Elliot I decided just to give in and see what all the hype was about. Of course seeing it for free was nice too.

So there I sat in the third row of the Balcony on a Saturday night waiting for the show to begin. Oh and did I mention that I was surrounded by a bunch of kids too? I was afraid this was about to be a long night. Now I am man enough to admit when I am wrong and boy was I wrong about Matilda. It is truly an amazing show. In fact I would go as far to put it in my top ten or fifteen shows that I have seen over the years. It was that good. Now for those of you who still haven't seen it I have some exciting news. You can now get tickets to see Matilda for some incredible prices. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru July 6 is for select performances and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Matilda on Broadway at the Shubert Theatre. You will love it.

My Thoughts On The Ticket Industry At Large

My name is J. and I am a ticket broker. There I said it. Now believe it or not but I have been selling tickets to shows both On and Off-Broadway for over fourteen years. Trust me when I say that I have seen and done it all. From selling tickets in a box office to assisting customers and travel agents alike at Applause I would reason to guess that I have sold thousands of tickets over the years. As I do every morning on my way to work I walk thru Times Square where as you can imagine is pretty crowded what with people scrambling to get to work and visitor's from all around the world stopping to take in the many sites that are great city has to offer.

Now besides the many buildings and restaurants there are of course billboards on every block advertising the latest designs, soft drinks and of course tickets to some of Broadway's hottest shows. I mean how else are you going to find out what is playing right? Ever heard of a thing called a newspaper or a magazine? How about turning on your computer and looking on there? I know that's how I get most of my information. Now I am smart enough to know that without advertising most companies would fail to exist and let's face it the economy is not the best right now although it sure is a lot better than it was a couple of years ago.

So what does this have to do with buying tickets? Well I'll tell you. Look we all know that theatre tickets are not cheap. I mean let's face it you practically have to take out a small loan if you want to take the whole family. I am exaggerating of course. It's expensive enough for just one person. The good thing is there are ways to see a show nowadays without breaking your wallet. Look paying four or five hundred dollars to see a show is fine if you have the money. Most people don't. I know I don't. Now I'm not saying you shouldn't go to the theatre. On the contrary. Theatre is more important than ever. It allows us to escape. It allows us to forget our problems. Even if just for a few hours.

Like I said at the beginning of my blog I am a ticket broker. That means I charge a service fee on my tickets. That's nothing new. I mean let's face it you can't buy anything these days without some sort of fee. That's how the company makes it's money and how it's employees earn a living. That's the way it has always been. That will never change. Now I guess I could spend the rest of this blog telling you that you should only buy from my company. Or that we are the best because we have the best seats at the best prices. Sorry but everybody does that. Who you buy or don't buy from is your choice. Just make sure it is the one that is right for you. It's your dollar after all. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from our neighbors up North. Yes I am talking of course about Canada. Winnipeg to be exact. Earlier this month I received a call from a very nice gentleman who was planning a trip to New York with his wife and wanted to see a show while they were here. He told me that not only do they visit New York several times a year but they also drive here every time they come. Good way to save some money I guess. Plus they also told me that by staying at a hotel away from Times Square they usually end up getting a better rate and are still in walking distance from everything. As a matter of fact when he came to pick up the tickets from me on Sunday he told me he had just went for a jog that morning in Central Park. Now I walk along Central Park pretty much every day on my way to work but jogging? I don't think so. To each his own I guess. After giving him his tickets he asked if I could suggest something else for him to see. Since he was already seeing Jersey Boys he asked if there was a play that I could suggest. After going thru the list he settled on Of Mice and Men starring James Franco and Chris O'Dowd. Once again I was able to get him excellent seats at an "Insider Rate". After completing the sale I asked if he and as his wife needed any restaurant recommendations while they were here and of course being a regular visitor to our fair city he had everything planned out. I wish everyone was like that. So there you have it folks. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Get Tickets To See Tony Winner Once For Less This Summer

Now in it's third celebrated year on Broadway is Once. The 2012 Tony Award winner for Best Musical of the Year. I saw the show when it first opened and loved it. However I will admit I wasn't sure how the masses would feel about it. After all it's not a big epic musical like The Phantom of the Opera or The Lion King. Yet here we are in 2014 and the show is still going strong eight times a week at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre. The show which is based on the 2005 Academy Award winning film tells the story of an Irish songwriter and a young Czech girl who come together thru their mutual love of music. Winner of eight 2012 Tony Awards, Once is a show that you do not want to miss theatre fans. It is a must see. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen it yet there is no better time than right now. Good seats are available for every performance and at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru July 6 it is not good for Saturday evening performances and like always subject to availability. Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Nevada. No believe it or no but it is not Las Vegas. Reno either. It was actually Incline Village. Don't feel bad. I haven't heard of it either. So anyway yesterday I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to London in July and wanted to see a few shows while they were there. I take that back. They wanted to see four shows. Not only that but they were seeing one show a day. Now I love the theatre but I think seeing four shows in a row would make me insane. The four shows they wanted to see were Jersey Boys, The Book of Mormon, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and The Commitments. Of those four the only one that I have seen is Jersey Boys. Although I did see Willa Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Does that still count? I'm guessing not. So now that I knew what they wanted to see I needed to find out where they wanted to sit and of course how much they wanted to spend. After all tickets aren't cheap nowadays. Luckily because they had picked all weekday performances they knew the tickets would probably be a little less. They were right. Plus I was able to get them excellent seats in the Stalls for all four shows. FYI Stalls is just a fancy name for the Orchestra in case you were wondering. Well there you have it folks. Four great shows with great seats and prices to boot. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Tony Winner Idina Menzel In If/Then For Less With Applause Theatre Service

Or should I say Adele Dazeem? O.K. I promise. That is the last time I will joke about that. In this blog at least. If/Then which is believe it or not the only original musical this season opened at the Richard Rodgers Theatre on March 30 where it received mixed reviews. They loved her. The show? Not so much. Oh well. They can't all be raves right? Regardless of what the critic's had to say If/Then is still selling like crazy with the show grossing over a million dollars a week at the box office. What can I say? People love them some Idina Menzel. Now for those of you who still haven't seen it there is no better time than right now and at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru July 6 it is only good for Tuesday-Thursday performances and as always subject to availability. London Theatre

Heading across the pond soon and want to see a show? Well are you in luck theatre fans. As we speak there are over seventy plays and musicals playing in the West End. Now while I have never had the pleasure of visiting London it is definitely something I am dying to do. I'm just afraid that I will love it so much I might never want to leave. Sorry New York. The big question of course is what to see while you are there. With that many shows there sure are a lot to choose from. So let's start with the most popular ones first and go from there shall we?

First up is Miss Saigon. Growing up in Illinois I wasn't exposed to a lot of theatre except the ones I starred in during high school and of course community theatre. Had to get my culture somehow. Thankfully I had a great choir teacher who introduced us to such shows as The Phantom of the Opera, Les Miserables and of course Miss Saigon which ended up becoming my favorite. Cut to a few years later I was living in New York and I got the chance to see it. So was it all I hoped it would be and more? I'll be honest while I did enjoy finally hearing the music sung live for the first time it was a little over produced at some points.

Of course so is Wicked and it's still one of Broadway's most popular shows. Oh well. Not all shows are perfect. Doesn't mean they aren't entertaining right? After all that is what theatre is supposed to do. Anyway back to Miss Saigon. The show which first premiered in London almost twenty-five years ago is back and hotter than ever. In fact it was announced recently that this new production set a new world record for opening day ticket sales. Looks like it's going to do well.

Next up is one of London's most popular show's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory which of course is based on the 1964 book by Roald Dahl and is now in it's second year at the Drury Lane Theatre with tickets currently on sale thru May 2015. Now of course just like Broadway there are a slew of long running shows that you can see as well such as Billy Elliot, Jersey Boys, The Lion King, Mamma Mia and Matilda. But what if musicals aren't your thing? Well don't worry because when it comes to plays London has it covered. One of the West End's most successful and long running plays is The Mousetrap which believe it or not first premiered in 1952.

Or how about The 39 Steps which played here in New York for almost four years. Not only that but you have five-time Tony winner Angela Lansbury in a revival of Noel Coward's Blithe Spirit as well as Academy Award nominee Kristin Scott Thomas in Electra. You see that? There truly is something for everybody. New plays. Exciting revivals. Ground breaking new musicals. London has it all and then some. Better yet we here at Applause sell all of them. So why not give us a call and see what we can do for you. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Missouri. Sikeston to be exact. Yesterday morning I received a call from a customer who was planning a trip to New York at the end of this month and wanted to see a show or two while they were here. I asked them how they had found us and they said that we were mentioned in their New York Pass book. For those of you who aren't familiar with it the New York Pass is an all inclusive pass that offers discounts on museums, sightseeing tours, restaurants and of course theatre tickets. I asked her what she wanted to see and her first choice was Newsies which still remains one of Broadway's most popular shows. I told her that not only would I be able to get her excellent seats but also at a great price as well. Well she loved that. Good thing she had the pass right? After taking care of that I asked her what else she wanted to see and she wondered if I could suggest something for her. I asked her what she had seen last time she was here and she said that she and her husband went to Spiderman and loved it. I suggested that if she enjoyed that then she would probably enjoy Rocky. After all they are both beloved characters not too mention hero's to many around the world. Thankfully she agreed with me and once again I was able to get her great seats at a low price. So there you have it folks. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

See Tony Winner Kinky Boots For Less

Still haven't seen Kinky Boots yet? It's o.k. I haven't either. Being in this business we are often invited to all the shows prior to opening. That way when customers call and ask us about the show we know what we are talking about. Makes sense right? Of course the night we had tickets I was performing in a show. I thinks that's a pretty good excuse. Now for those of you who still haven't seen it there is no better time than right now. Be advised that this "Special Offer" is not good for every performance and is not I repeat not for Orchestra or Front Mezzanine. I mean who wants to sit up front and center anyway? Yes I know that are some of you out there who will only sit in the first ten rows and that is fine. Just be ready to shell out the big bucks. However for those of you out there like me who love going to the theatre but don't have a lot of money this is a great deal. Here are the dates where you can get tickets for less to see Kinky Boots. Get Tickets To All New York Sports With Applause Theatre Service

Yes that's right. We do sell other things besides tickets to The Book of Mormon and Kinky Boots. In fact we sell tickets to all events around the world. However today's blog is not about the ballet in Russia or the World Cup in Brazil. Now while I may be a huge New York Knicks fan they are unfortunately not in the playoffs this year. The Brooklyn Nets are though. I guess that technically is New York even though Brooklyn is the other realm as far as I am concerned. Just kidding. The Nets are scheduled to play the Miami Heat at the Barclays Center on May 10 and hopefully again on May 12. That is of course if Miami doesn't win four straight, which I don't see happening considering that all five times they played each other Brooklyn won. Let's go Nets. Now for those of you non-basketball fans out there you still can enjoy a game in New York City. How about the New York Rangers? Tonight is the first game against the Penguins with game two scheduled for Wednesday. Still aren't satisfied? Well how about heading out to Yankee Stadium to see the Yankees or check out the New York Mets at Citi Field? That would be my choice as I am a Mets fans. So there you have it sports fans. The only thing you have to decide on now is which one do you choose? Here's an idea. Why not see them all? I mean that's what I would do. Until next time sports fans.

See Broadway's Coolest Show Rock of Ages For Less This Summer

Now just in case you are wondering how big of a Rock of Ages fan I am I will tell you without hesitation that I love the show. Seen it over a half a dozen times as a matter of fact. Good thing I like 80's music. I mean who doesn't right? The show which first opened Off-Broadway back in the fall of 2008 is now in it's fifth year on the Great White Way. Now while I may be a huge fan of the show I never expected to still be blogging about it all these years later. Of course being in a theater less than six hundred seats definitely helps. Not too mention the fact that they have hot girls in skimpy clothing running down the aisles during the show trying to sell you shots. Sound like a great night in the theatre don't you think? Now for those of you who still haven't seen the show there is no better time than right now. In fact if you call right now you can get tickets to see Rock of Ages at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru September 7 it is not good for Saturday evening performances and like always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Rock of Ages on Broadway at the Helen Hayes Theatre. Who knows? You just might see me there. Until next time rock fans.

Customer Story

Today's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Virginia. Roanoke to be exact. This past Thursday I received a call from one of my regular customers who was planning a trip to New York for Memorial Day weekend and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. Their choices were Beautiful and The Bridges of Madison County. Now since it was a holiday weekend they were hoping the tickets wouldn't be too expensive. Luckily for them I was able to find some very nice seats in the Center Mezzanine for both shows and at a rate that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Wait a minute. Not so fast. Not even twenty-fours later it was announced that The Bridges of Madison County would be closing on May 18. Therefore they would now have to pick a new show. After going thru the list they finally settled on A Gentleman's Guide To Love and Murder. Which by the way received the most Tony nominations of any show this season. Sounds like they made a wise choice don't you? Plus not only were the tickets at the same price as the other show but the seats were ever better. I guess every cloud does have a silver lining. Now let's try this again shall we? Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?
