New Musical Bright Star To Open On Broadway In March 2016

Bright StarWhat's that you say? A new musical that is not based on a hit movie or a book? Is the world coming to an end? Just kidding. Bright Star, which features a new score by Edie Brickell and book by Steve Martin, will begin previews at the Cort Theatre on Broadway on February 25, 2016, with opening night scheduled for March 24. Set in the south during the 1920's and 40's, Bright Star tells the story of literary editor Alice Murphy, who's chance encounter with a young soldier forces her to confront her past and changes both of their lives. Sounds pretty interesting don't you think? Tickets for Bright Star are now on sale. Not only that but we sell them. In fact we sell tickets to every new musical on the Great White Way. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Bright Star on Broadway at the Cort Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Broadway Revival Of She Loves Me To Open In March

December 25, 1993. Care to guess what happened on that date? Well for starters it was Christmas Day. However that is not why that day is so significant. At least not to me anyway. You see on that day I saw a performance of She Loves Me on Broadway. Now considering a large portion of the show takes place during Christmas, I figured it would be the perfect way to celebrate the holiday. Thankfully I was right. Set in Budapest in the 1930's, She Loves Me takes place at Maraczek's Parffumerie, and follows the lives of it's employees as they navigate their way thru life's many trials and tribulations.

Now in case you didn't know, You've Got Mail, which is one of my favorite movies by the way, is based on She Loves Me, which in turn is based on the 1940 film The Shop Around The Corner. This new production, which is being directed by Tony nominee Scott Ellis (You Can't Take It With You, and the 1993 revival of She Loves Me) is set to begin previews on Broadway at Studio 54 on February 19, with opening night scheduled for March 17. That's one way to celebrate St. Patrick's Day I guess. As of now the show is scheduled to play thru July 10. However if we reviews are good, and I highly expect that they will, the show will probably extend. Fingers crossed.

So now that you know where and when it's playing, I'm guessing you might want to know who's starring in it right? I thought you might. So let's get too it. Leading the cast as the two unlucky in love hopefuls are Tony winner Laura Benanti (Gypsy, NBC's The Sound of Music) and television star and Theatre World winner Zachary Levi (Chuck, First Date: The Musical). Rounding out the cast of the shop's employees are Tony winners Jane Krakowski, Michael McGrath, and Tony nominee Gavin Creel, Byron Jennings, and Peter Bartlett. Sounds like a great cast don't you think? Tickets for She Loves Me are now on sale. Not only that but if you call right now you can get tickets to the show at prices that can't be beat. Get your tickets to see She Loves Me on Broadway at Studio 54. Who knows? You might just see me there. Until next time theatre fans.

Off-Broadway Fave Disaster To Transfer To Broadway In February

Disaster! Now I'll be the first to admit that when it was announced that Disaster! was coming to Broadway, I was a little surprised. Yes I know. It got rave reviews when it was Off-Broadway. In fact I loved it. It was a perfect mix of camp and seventies pop music. Now is it a Broadway show? I don't know. But you know what? Who cares. If someone is willing to produce the show then more power to them.

Having written my own show I know what it's like to have big dreams. Here's wishing them a successful run on the Great White Way! Previews for the show are set to begin at the Nederlander Theatre on February 9, with opening night scheduled for March 8. Now I know what you're thinking. What is Disaster all about? Well as I'm sure you figured out the show takes place in the seventies. 1979 to be exact.

Set in Manhattan on New York's first floating casino and discotheque, Disaster is a laugh out loud spoof of such seventies cult classics like The Poseidon Adventure and Airport 1975. Sounds like a lot of fun don't you think? Tickets for the show are now on sale. Plus if you call now you can get tickets to see the show at some incredible rates. Get your tickets to see Disaster! on Broadway at the Nederlander Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

New Broadway Revival Of Noises Off To Begin This Week

I can't tell you how excited I am to see this show. Besides being one of the best well written comedies of all time, it is also starring one of my favorite performers. Care to guess who I'm talking about? Well first of all it's a she, so that narrows it down. And secondly she is a two-time Tony Award winner. So now do you know who I'm talking about? That's right theatre fans. It is none other than Andrea Martin. Now do you see why I'm so excited?

Noises Off, which was last seen on Broadway in 2001, will begin previews at the American Airlines Theatre on December 17. Opening night is scheduled for January 14. As of now the show is only scheduled to run thru March 6. Now normally I would say that it would extend if reviews are good. However Eugene O'Neill's Long Day's Journey Into Night is scheduled to begin previews on March 31. Who knows? Maybe if it's a big hit it will transfer to another theatre. Fingers crossed.

The show, which is being directed by Tony nominee Jeremy Herrin (Wolf Hall, Parts 1 & 2), also stars Campbell Scott (Big Night), David Furr (The Rivals) Megan Hilty (Smash), Tracee Chimo (Bad Jews), Kate Jennings Grant (Guys and Dolls), and Tony nominee's Jeremy Shamos (Clybourne Park), Rob McClure (Honeymoon in Vegas), and Daniel Davis (The Nanny). Now that is what I call an all-star cast. Tickets for this laugh out loud backstage comedy are now on sale. Not only that but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru January 17 is for select seats only and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Noises Off on Broadway at the American Airlines Theatre. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theatre fans.

Applause Tickets Continues Serious Commitment to Philanthropic Efforts as Member of NATB Gives Back Charity Committee and New York City Association of Hotel Concierges

NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Applause Tickets, a leading source for tickets and insider knowledge of New York'sBroadway, sports and concert ticket entertainment scene, believes in the power of giving back to those less fortunate. To that end, the company maintains a strong working relationship with the National Association of Ticket Brokers Gives Back Charity Committee. The fruit of those efforts are most apparent in the time and energy Applause Tickets spends on behalf of the NATB's NFL 32 for 32 Charity Program.

"Charity has become important in my life personally and professionally," remarks Rich Gladstone, founder of Applause Tickets. "The 32 for 32 Program enables me to connect personally with colleagues across the country and witness their generosity firsthand."

Each year, Gladstone makes phone calls to fellow ticket brokers around the country, with the aim of collecting at least 32 tickets for every NFL preseason home game, including both the New York Jets and New York Giants games. Applause is responsible for gathering ticket donations for the New York teams. In 2015, ticket brokers donated 568 tickets totaling $35,096.00 in the New York football market alone.

"Ticket brokers are an incredibly generous group of people. I'm sure that the NATB is quite proud of all the members of the charity committee, as well as the participating brokers who donate thousands of tickets in all 32 NFL markets," Gladstone added. "The program has so far donated more than 18,000 NFL tickets, valued at over $1 million."

The Applause Tickets team gives all donated tickets to seriously ill children and their families staying at the five Ronald McDonald Houses in the New York City area. Gladstone makes a special effort to collect as many ticket donations as possible for both of the city's NFL teams.

In addition to its charitable work with the NATB, Applause Tickets also donates to a charitable fund established by the New York City Association of Hotel Concierges, for which it is a proud corporate member as well.

Created in 2003, the NYCAHC Charitable Fund works throughout the New York community to improve the quality of life of those in need. The NYCAHC Charitable Fund supports philanthropic efforts throughout New York City, including Broadway Cares/Equity Fights Aids, SHARE Cancer Support and Win.

According to Gladstone, "one of the main reasons we decided to become corporate members of the NYCAHC is because we clearly identify with their motto "In Service Through Friendship". Sure, as corporate members Applause Tickets looks forward to doing business with hotel concierge at many of NYC's leading hotels yet we clearly identify with similar charitable goals of the NYCAHC. I feel comfortable in saying on behalf of both of our organizations- that there is nothing more meaningful than giving back."

Gladstone and the Applause Tickets team's future plans include continuing its active participation in the NYCAHC and its charitable activities, especially in making regular monetary contributions to the charitable fund as well as lending a helping hand with the organization's charitable programs.

According to Gladstone, Applause Tickets identifies with the organization's motto, "In Service Through Friendship." He adds that, "there is nothing more meaningful than giving back."

The HumansThat's right theatre fans. One of this season's most celebrated Off-Broadway shows is heading to the Great White Way. The Humans, which takes place in the Big Apple, is set to begin previews at the Helen Hayes Theatre on January 23, 2016, with opening night set for February 18. The show, which is being directed by two-time Tony winner Joe Mantello (Wicked), is written by Stephen Karam, who received critical acclaim with such works as Sons of the Prophet and Speech and Debate.

So what exactly is The Humans all about? Well besides taking place in the greatest city in the world, the show takes place on Thanksgiving as the Pennsylvania based Blake family gather at their daughters lower Manhattan apartment.
