Hard to believe but it's been almost twenty years since the Broadway production of Art first opened. In fact, I was lucky enough to see it a few days after it won the Tony Award for Best Play of the Year. Now while I loved the show, I was surprised that it won, as everyone had expected The Beauty Queen of Leenane to take the top prize.
Previews for the show are set to begin at the Old Vic Theatre on December 10. As of now it is scheduled to run thru February 18, 2017. Although if reviews are good I would not be surprised if it extends. Who knows? Maybe it will even make it's way across the pond? Fingers crossed. So what exactly is Art about? Well I'll tell you.
The show tells the story of three friends. Marc, Yvan, and Serge, who has recently purchased a painting. However this is no ordinary painting. In fact it's all white, with white diagonal lines. Now to his friends, the painting is a joke, causing Serge to question their friendship as well as the affect that art has on society.
Sounds intriguing don't you think? So anyway, now that you know what it's about, I'm guessing you want to know how to get tickets right? Well have I got good news for you. We sell it. In fact we sell every show in London. Who knew? Get your tickets to see Art at the Old Vic Theatre in London. You will love it. I know I did. Until next time theatre fans.
