Let me just start off by saying, that I have never seen Beetlejuice. I know. I know. What is wrong with me? After all, Michael Keaton is one of my favorite actor's. It even starred another favorite of mine, Genna Davis. And yet, in the thirty-one years since it has been released, I have still never seen it. Not even a clip.The good news is, is that I have tickets to see the Broadway musical in less than a week. Who knows? It might just give me the push I need to finally see the film. Or it could have the reserve effect, and cause me to go another thirty-one years without seeing it. Unfortunately, that sometimes happens with movie to musical transfers.
For every Hairspray or Aladdin, there is a Shrek or The Wedding Singer. Yes I know there are more examples. I just tried to use ones that have opened in the last ten to fifteen years. Now I'm not saying that Beetlejuice will fall in the latter category. I'm hoping it's a big fat hit, as we could use a few of those this season. Time will tell.
