That's right theatre fans. You only have one more week to catch the original cast of Broadway's The Addams Family. Now technically the whole cast is not leaving. You've still got Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia. Oh and don't forget Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, and of course the always hysterical Jackie Hoffman as Grandma.
Joining the cast of kooky characters are Tony winner Roger Rees as Gomez and Broadway faves Heidi Blickenstaff as Alice Bienke and Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Uncle Fester. Earlier this month I posted a blog stating that while I loved the show I worried that the show would not survive for very long without it's main star. I love Bebe as much as the next person. but she's not Nathan.
Now do I expect the show to up and close in the next month? No. However with the onslaught of new shows coming in in the the next two months there is going to be a whole lot more competition. My guess is it will last at least until Labor Day. However if some of the new shows fail then it might have a chance.
Keep your fingers crossed. Now there is a silver lining to all this believe it or not. With the departure of it's leading man next week more seats will become available. That means better seats and not only that but at lower prices as well. Who doesn't love a bargain? Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. Take it from me. You will love it.

New Cast Announced For The Addams Family
Has it really been almost a year since The Addams Family first opened on Broadway? I remember seeing the show during it's first week of previews last March and loving it. Now while the critics may not have cared for the show it remains of of Broadway's most popular shows. Take that critics. Cut to a year later and the show is about to experience a change.
Yesterday it was announced that six of it's original cast members including it's star Nathan Lane will depart the show on March 6. Replacing Lane in the role of family patriarch Gomez Adams is fellow Tony winner Roger Rees who will be reunited with Friend and fellow Cheer's co-star Bebe Neuwirth.
Now while I loved the show I do worry how long the show will survive with out it's main star. If memory serves me correctly ticket sales dropped quite a bit during his vacation last year. Can the show survive without him? We will soon find out.
Other replacements announced yesterday were Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Fester and Broadway faves Heidi Blickenstaff and Adam Grupper as Alice and Mal Beinke. I for one hope the show makes it as it is one of the few musical comedies on Broadway. Keep your fingers crossed. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
This week's customer story comes all the way from Raleigh,North Carolina. Late last week I received a call from a very nice lady who was looking to come into the city early next month and wanted to see a show while they were here. I asked here if she had a show in mind and she mentioned that she was a big Bebe Neuwirth fan and really wanted to see The Addams Family while she was here. I told her that shouldn't be a problem since the show has been playing for almost a year and early February is normally a slow month. Therefore I was able to get her excellent seats in the Front Mezzanine for......wait for it......below face value. For those of you that are not familiar with that term is means that we can get you tickets for less that what you would spend at the box office. Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Plus I was able to recommend several restaurants for her and her family to check out while they were here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story
This week's customer story comes all the way from Ellijay,Georgia. Early last week I received a call from a travel agent who was looking to purchase tickets for her clients who were planning a last minute to New York at the end of the month and wanted to see two shows while they were here. After finding out when they would be here I asked what they would like to see.
Their fist choice was Mamma Mia which while still one of Broadway's most popular shows has been playing for over nine years. That means that not only should it be east to get tickets but also at a lower rate as January is the time when less people come into the city.
So not only was able to get her fabulous seats in the 5th row on the aisle but at a rate that was lower than she expected. Now that the first show was all taken care of I asked what the would like to see for show number two. They had mentioned that a friend of hers had seen The Addams Family this past Summer and loved it. Once again I was able to get them excellent seats and at a great price. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Save On The Addams Family This Winter
I have to tell you that when they first announced that they were doing The Addams Family on Broadway I wasn't too exceed. I take that back. The television show was a favorite of mine so I knew if done right the show had the potential to be very good. My main concern was the casting of two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane in the role of family patriarch Gomez Addams. Yes I know he is one of Broadway's biggest stars. I just don't get the hype.
Now Bebe Neuwirth on the other hand is a different story. To me that is perfect casting. So anyway last March I went to see the show. In fact if I remember right it might have been the first preview. Now after reading the mixed reviews that it received in Chicago I wasn't sure what to expect. My hope was that what every problems they had they were able to fix by now. After all they had almost two months between engagements to do so.
Cut to two and a half hours later and I can honestly say that I loved the show. I will even go as far to say that I loved Nathan Lane. He won me over. Is the show perfect? No. Do I think that it deserved the reviews that it received from the press or the backlash that it received from the Tony committee? Definitely not. What it is is a lot of fun. Theatre is there to entertain us . That is what The Addams Family does. After all what more do you need? I say forget what the critics say.
After all Wicked didn't get very good reviews and it is the most successful shows of all time. Take that critics. Oh wait. I almost forgot. I was supposed to tell you about The Addams Family ticket offer wasn't I? Well let's get right too it. From now thru March 27 you can tickets to see this hilarious musical at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for Saturday or Sunday performances and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. You will have the time of your life.

The Addams Family To Begin Previews Next Week
Only three more days until the first preview of The Addams Family. The new musical which premiered in Chicago last year and stars Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth begins previews on March 8 at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in anticipation of an April 8 opening. Now like most people I assumed that the show would be based on the popular black and white series that ran on NBC in from 1964 to 1966 for a total of 64 episodes.Having watched the show as a child I guess I had always thought the show had a longer life. I guess that was because I watched it so much. Anyway as I was saying the musical is not based on the show but on the comic strip by Charles Addams. With very few new musicals this season expectations for the show are high.
In fact besides Memphis it is the only musical with an original score left to open this season. Now while the reviews in Chicago were mixed they have brought in four-time Tony Award wining director who is listed as "Creative Consultant". Will he be able to turn the show into the hit that Broadway desperately needs? We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.

The Addams Family To Begin Previews On Broadway In Less Than Two Weeks
One of this season's most highly anticipated new shows is The Addams Family. This new musical which is based not on the popular television series but the comic strip by Charles Addams is set to begin previews at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 8.The show which first premiered in Chicago stars Tony winners Nathan Lane and Bebe Neuwirth as the family patriarchs Gomez and Morticia Addams.
Now while the reviews in Chicago were mixed that hasn't effected ticket sales as a lot of dates in the first few weeks of the run are already sold out. I would imagine a lot of that has to so with it's two main stars. Following it's out of town tryout the producers have brought in four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks as "Creative Consultant" to oversee the production. Hopefully he can fix what ever problems the show may be happening prior to it's opening in April 8. We will soon find out. Until next time theatre fans.
