This week's customer story comes all the way from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Last Saturday I received a call from a very nice lady who had heard about us from the New York Pass. For those of you who are not familiar with that it is a great service that offers discounts as well as free things to do and see in New York. Sounds like a good deal to me. So anyway after I found out when she would be here I asked her what she wanted to see. Her first choice was the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Even though she had seen the show several times she wanted to take her son who had never seen it.
I told her that since she was coming before Thanksgiving I would not only be able to get her excellent seats but for below face value. Well she loved that. One show down. Two to go. Her next choice was Mary Poppins.Once again I was able to get her very nice seats in the Front Mezzanine. Which in case you didn't know is the best view as she flies upstairs during the show. Plus I was able to get them for below cost. For her third and final choice she picked Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark. However I could tell she was a little hesitant as she hadn't heard very good things about it.
I told her that while I did not care for it the show has been selling very well. She thanked me for my honesty and asked if I could suggest something else. I told her that I thought that The Addams Family would be a better choice as not only is it very funny but perfect for the whole family. She decided to take my advice and I when all was said and done I was able to secure three seats in the Mezzanine for below face value. So there you have it folks. Three great shows at three amazing prices. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story
Two customer stories in a row? I must have nothing else to blog about right? Oh sure I could talk about Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark. I haven't made fun of that show for a least a couple of months. Been there. Done that. Or I guess I could tell you about how you can see over twenty-five shows for below face value. True. But I think I will save that for another day. After all where would we be without our customers? Out of business. That's where we would be. Now you do want that do you? I didn't think so. Anyway this past Saturday I received a call from a very nice lady who was in town with her two sons for the weekend and wanted to see if it was possible to get tickets last minute.
I asked her what she wanted to see and she had mentioned that her friends had seen The Addams Family while they were here in March and loved it. I told her that it was one of my favorites too. Plus because the show had been playing for awhile I would be able to get her excellent seats but for a much lower rate. Well she loved that. By the time we were finished I was able to get her tickets in the Center Mid-Mezzanine for $90 each. Which besides being a great view is less than she had seen anywhere else. Not only that but she said she would be sure to use us again and recommend us to all her friends to use us as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Catch Brooke Shields In The Addams Family This Summer For Less
I know. I know. Brooke Shields on Broadway? Can she even sing? Well believe it or not but The Addams Family is her fifth Broadway show. Plus she starred in the world premier of the new musical Leap of Faith last year at the Ahmanson Theatre in Los Angeles. Prior to working at Applause I worked in the box office for the recent revival of Cabaret. Starring in the lead role of Sally Bowles was Brook Shields. Is she the greatest singer in the world? No. But she can carry a tune. Plus she's not too bad to look at either. She's still got it. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen The Addams Family yet there is no better time than the present. Good seats are now available for all performances. Not only that but at prices that are lower than ever before. Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. Deals like these don't come around everyday so don't delay. Call now.Until next time theatre fans.

Broadway's The Addams Family Celebrates Milestone
That's right theatre fans. One of Broadway's most popular shows just celebrated it''s 500th performance on the Great White way. Now I don't know about you but I loved the show when I first saw it back in March 2010. In fact I believe I even saw the very first preview. Despite mixed reviews from the critic's and no love from the Tony's the show is still here and should be here for a long time to come. Keep your finger's crossed. Recently it was announced that Broadway favorite Brooke Shields will be joining the cast as Morticia. She is set to begin performances on Tuesday June 28. By the way for those of you who still haven't seen the show there is no better time than the present. Good seats are available for all performances. Not only that but at prices that can't be beat. Just give one of the friendly ticket experts at Applause a call and mention the BFV deal and you can reserve your seats to one of Broadway's funniest shows is years. Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. You will love it.

Nathan Lane And The Cast Of The Addams Family To Play Final Performance On March 6
That's right theatre fans. You only have one more week to catch the original cast of Broadway's The Addams Family. Now technically the whole cast is not leaving. You've still got Bebe Neuwirth as Morticia. Oh and don't forget Zachary James as Lurch, Adam Riegler as Pugsley, and of course the always hysterical Jackie Hoffman as Grandma.
Joining the cast of kooky characters are Tony winner Roger Rees as Gomez and Broadway faves Heidi Blickenstaff as Alice Bienke and Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Uncle Fester. Earlier this month I posted a blog stating that while I loved the show I worried that the show would not survive for very long without it's main star. I love Bebe as much as the next person. but she's not Nathan.
Now do I expect the show to up and close in the next month? No. However with the onslaught of new shows coming in in the the next two months there is going to be a whole lot more competition. My guess is it will last at least until Labor Day. However if some of the new shows fail then it might have a chance.
Keep your fingers crossed. Now there is a silver lining to all this believe it or not. With the departure of it's leading man next week more seats will become available. That means better seats and not only that but at lower prices as well. Who doesn't love a bargain? Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. Take it from me. You will love it.

A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker
Having been in the ticket selling business for almost thirteen years now I can honestly say I have seen it all. I've seen shows that got amazing reviews and yet struggled to find an audience. I've also seen shows that while maybe not my cup of tea run for years and years. So what is your favorite show? Now those of you who read my blogs know that Rent is still my all-time favorite show with the recently departed In The Heights a close second.
In fact Rent is scheduled to return this Summer Off-Broadway at New World Stages. Now of the current shows running I would have to say my favorites are Jersey Boys and Rock of Ages which is set to re-open at the Helen Hayes Theatre on March 24. If you haven't seen either one I highly suggest you do. In the next two months there are twenty-two news shows set to open. Fourteen of those are plays. When was the last time that happened?
Now when I first moved here musicals were what got me to the theatre. However with most new musicals being based on a movie or in Spider-Man's case a cartoon strip I am more likely to see a new play then some over the top musical. Now don't get me wrong. I enjoyed shows like The Addams Family and the new revival of La Cage Aux Folles. But it's nice to see something new and original again on Broadway instead of cartoon and movies turned into musicals.
Yes I know they have a place just like revivals do. That's the good thing about Broadway I guess. There is something for everybody.I mean let's face it there is no better feeling than sitting in a crowded theater waiting for the unexpected to begin. Over the years my favorites may have changed but one thing has not. My love for the theatre. That is forever. Live theatre. There is nothing like it. Until next time theatre fans.

New Cast Announced For The Addams Family
Has it really been almost a year since The Addams Family first opened on Broadway? I remember seeing the show during it's first week of previews last March and loving it. Now while the critics may not have cared for the show it remains of of Broadway's most popular shows. Take that critics. Cut to a year later and the show is about to experience a change.
Yesterday it was announced that six of it's original cast members including it's star Nathan Lane will depart the show on March 6. Replacing Lane in the role of family patriarch Gomez Adams is fellow Tony winner Roger Rees who will be reunited with Friend and fellow Cheer's co-star Bebe Neuwirth.
Now while I loved the show I do worry how long the show will survive with out it's main star. If memory serves me correctly ticket sales dropped quite a bit during his vacation last year. Can the show survive without him? We will soon find out.
Other replacements announced yesterday were Tony nominee Brad Oscar as Fester and Broadway faves Heidi Blickenstaff and Adam Grupper as Alice and Mal Beinke. I for one hope the show makes it as it is one of the few musical comedies on Broadway. Keep your fingers crossed. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
That's right theatre fans. It's time for the customer story of the week. Now since I was on vacation last week I had to go back and look at the previous week's sales to find one to write about. Luckily for me I have a good memory. Earlier this month I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York and wanted to see a show while she was here.
I asked her what she wanted to see and she told me her husband was a big Johnny Cash fan and had heard from a friend of his that there was a musical about him playing on Broadway. Right away I knew she was talking about Million Dollar Quartet. For those of you that are not familiar with the show here is a brief description from the shows website.
"On December 4, 1956, an auspicious twist of fate brought Johnny Cash, Jerry Lee Lewis, Carl Perkins, and Elvis Presley together. The place was Sun Records' storefront studio in Memphis. The man who made it happen was Sam Phillips, the 'Father of Rock 'n' Roll,' who discovered them all. The four legends-to-be united for the only time in their careers for an impromptu recording that has come to be known as one of the greatest rock jam sessions of all time".
Sounds like a winner to me. By the way I saw the show last Summer and had the time of my life. So anyway now that I knew what she wanted to see it was time to find out when she and her husband would be here. Since they were planning on staying for a week they didn't care when they went. They just wanted the best seats.
I told them that since February is still considered a slow time in New York I would not only be able to get then excellent seats but also at a reduced rate. After doing a little research I was able to find here two excellent seats in the third row center of the Front Mezzanine and at a rate the was even lower than I thought.
Not only was she thrilled with the price but she called back a few days later and bought tickets see The Addams Family from my colleague as well. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story
This week's customer story comes all the way from Raleigh,North Carolina. Late last week I received a call from a very nice lady who was looking to come into the city early next month and wanted to see a show while they were here. I asked here if she had a show in mind and she mentioned that she was a big Bebe Neuwirth fan and really wanted to see The Addams Family while she was here. I told her that shouldn't be a problem since the show has been playing for almost a year and early February is normally a slow month. Save On The Addams Family This Winter
I have to tell you that when they first announced that they were doing The Addams Family on Broadway I wasn't too exceed. I take that back. The television show was a favorite of mine so I knew if done right the show had the potential to be very good. My main concern was the casting of two-time Tony Award winner Nathan Lane in the role of family patriarch Gomez Addams. Yes I know he is one of Broadway's biggest stars. I just don't get the hype.
Now Bebe Neuwirth on the other hand is a different story. To me that is perfect casting. So anyway last March I went to see the show. In fact if I remember right it might have been the first preview. Now after reading the mixed reviews that it received in Chicago I wasn't sure what to expect. My hope was that what every problems they had they were able to fix by now. After all they had almost two months between engagements to do so.
Cut to two and a half hours later and I can honestly say that I loved the show. I will even go as far to say that I loved Nathan Lane. He won me over. Is the show perfect? No. Do I think that it deserved the reviews that it received from the press or the backlash that it received from the Tony committee? Definitely not. What it is is a lot of fun. Theatre is there to entertain us . That is what The Addams Family does. After all what more do you need? I say forget what the critics say.
After all Wicked didn't get very good reviews and it is the most successful shows of all time. Take that critics. Oh wait. I almost forgot. I was supposed to tell you about The Addams Family ticket offer wasn't I? Well let's get right too it. From now thru March 27 you can tickets to see this hilarious musical at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that this "Insider Deal" is not good for Saturday or Sunday performances and is subject to availability. Get your tickets to see The Addams Family on Broadway. You will have the time of your life.

Customer Story
This week's customer story comes from across the river. That's right folks I am talking about the Garden State. That's New Jersey for those of you that don't know. The city? Cherry Hill. This past Saturday I received a call from one of our regular customers who was planning a last minute trip into the city and was looking for a show that would be good for the whole family.
I suggested The Addams Family which is not only one of Broadway's newer shows but also one of it's most popular. Now believe it or not but the show did not get very good reviews when it opened this past Spring. Years go there was another show that opened to mixed reviews that went on to become of Broadway's most successful shows of all time.
Maybe you've heard of it. A little show by the name of Wicked. So after taking my advice I asked her when she wanted to see it and she was hoping there were five seats available on September 1 for the matinee. Since I wanted to make sure that she got the best seats available I asked if she would be willing to split up to get better seats.
She said that would be fine as long as they were right in front of each other and in the center if possible. I told her that shouldn't be a problem and I might even be able to get the seats at a special price. Here at Applause we often have access to over twenty shows that we are able to get at "Below Face Value".
What that means is that you would get top seats at a price that is lower than you would pay at the theatre. Well she loved that. Cut to later on in the afternoon. Not only was I able to obtain seats in the center but also at a price that was lower then what I had originally quoted her. Plus I was able to give her some great restaurant suggestions to check out while she was here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Customer Story
This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of California. Camarillo to be exact. Late last week I received a call from a very nice young lady who was planning a last minute trip with her daughter to New York later this month and was hoping to take in a couple of Broadway shows while they were here. I asked what she wanted to see and she mentioned that her daughter had been dying to see Billy Elliot ever since she saw it on last year's Tony Awards. I told her that not only could I get her great seats but also at a lower price as the show has been playing for almost two years now.
For those of you that are not familiar with our "Insider Deal" we here at Applause have access to over 25 shows both On and Off-Broadway at prices that are lower than you can get anywhere else. Well she loved that. After securing her tickets for Billy Elliot we moved on to her next show. She asked if I could suggest something for her and I told her that I had recently seen The Addams Family and loved the show. That was perfect as she was looking for a good musical comedy and that fit the bill. Plus once again I was able to get them at the lower price. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?
