Tony Winner God Of Carnage To Close Early

It was just announced that God Of Carnage which was expected to play it's final performance on June 27 will now close on June 6. Here is a statement on the closing from the producers of the Tony Award winning play."In looking at business for late June, we realized June 6 is the right time to end this glorious run of Yasmina Reza's Tony winning play. We are incredibly proud and thrilled with the success of Yasmina's brilliant play, Matthew Warchus' superb direction, and the acting talents of our three amazing casts. God of Carnage has delighted thousands of audiences and we couldn’t be happier."

The show which recently celebrated it's 400th performance opened at the Jacobs Theater on March 22,2009 following a successful run in London's West End. Besides it's win for Best Play it also won the Tony Award for Best Actress and Best Direction. Final Weeks To See Tony Winner God Of Carnage

That's right theatre fans. You only have eight weeks to get your tickets to God of Carnage. The 2009 Tony Award winner for Best Play. The show which first premiered in London prior to opening on Broadway in April 2009 will play it's final performance on June 27,2010. Now to be honest I never saw the show. Not because I didn't want to but because when the show first opened tickets were difficult to come by. Maybe I'll check it out before it closes next month.

Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from Alexandria,Virginia. It was near the end of the day on Saturday when a customer called looking for tickets to see Billy Elliot for tomorrow night's performance. As I'm sure most of you know that besides Thanksgiving and Christmas this is one of the busiest weeks of the year in New York what with Spring Break and Easter.Therefore she knew with Billy Elliot being of Broadway's most popular shows it might be difficult to get.

Well we did have seats but only in the Rear Mezzanine in the middle. Now for those of you that are not familiar with the Imperial Theatre they charge the same for Center Rear Mezzanine as they do for seats in the Orchestra and the Front Mezzanine as well. While if you go further back in the Rear Mezzanine or off to the side it is cheaper. The good thing is that it is such a small theatre all the seats are good.

Having no luck finding the lesser expensive seats in the Rear Mezzanine she decided to take the center seats at the higher cost. Just when I was about to wrap everything up I asked her if there was anything else that she wanted to see. She told me that her second choice in case she couldn't get in to Billy Elliot was God of Carnage. I told that even though I had not seen the show it was still very popular and that it's current cast had gotten very good reviews. Not only that but I could get her better seats for that show then Billy Elliot and at a lower price.

She told me that besides coming to New York two or three times a year to see a show she also attends theatre in Washington D.C. at the Kennedy Center. Since we both figured that Billy Elliot would make it's way there eventually and the fact that God of Carnage was exclusive to New York that she should see that one. So we crossed off Billy Elliot and I got her first row center Front Mezzanine for below face value. Plus I was able to give her several restaurant recommendations to choose from during her trip. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

God Of Carnage To Welcome New Cast Tonight

That's right theatre fans. Tonight God of Carnage welcomes it's new cast.Who would have thought that a show that has yet to celebrate it's first year on Broadway would be on it's third cast.I sure didn't. Now to be honest this cast isn't entirely new as one of it's original Tony nominated cast members is returning although this time in a different role.

Jeff Daniels who originated the role of Alan when it premiered on Broadway in March 2009 will now be playing the part of Michael who was played by James Gandofini. Joining Mr. Daniels are Lucy Liu,Dylan Baker,and original London star Tony winner Janet McTeer. How much longer the show will play is anybody's guess but if they continue to bring in solid actor's like they have it should be around for quite awhile. We shall see.
