Broadway Bound Michael Jackson Musical Find's It's Home

Let me just start off by saying that I am a fan of Michael Jackson's music. I always have been, and I always will be. It's what he did or allegedly did is what I have a problem with. Now the truth is, we may never know exactly what happened. But that's a story for another day. After all, by job is to write about the theatre. So why don't I get right to it. MJ The Musical, formerly known under it's previous title, Don't Stop To You Get Enough, is set to begin previews at the Neil Simon Theatre on July 6,2020, with opening night scheduled for August 13.

The show, which will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined), and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon (An American In Paris), was scheduled to premier in Chicago this fall. However it was cancelled due to the recent allegations against the late superstar. Interesting enough, the last show to play at the theatre, was also about an iconic pop star. The Cher Show. Which by the way, lasted less than a year, and failed to make back it's investment. Let's see if this new show fare's any better. We shall see. An on sale date for the show has yet to be announced. Michael Jackson Musical Headed To Broadway

That's right theatre fans. Or should I say Michael Jackson fans. The "King of Pop" is headed to the Great White Way.

The show, which will feature a book by two-time Pulitzer Prize winner Lynn Nottage (Sweat, Ruined), and direction and choreography by Tony Award winner Christopher Wheeldon (An American In Paris), will make it's Broadway bow in 2020.

Now for those of you that can't wait that long for your Michael Jackson fix, you can head on over to London, where Thriller- Live is now in it's sixth celebrated year. As of now, no theatre or any out of town tryouts have been announced. Stay tuned to this website for further updates.

Thriller-Live Extends In London

Thriller-Live, the new musical which celebrates the life and career of music icon Michael Jackson has announced that it will be extending it's current run at the Lyric Theatre in London. The show which opened on January 21 and was originally scheduled to thru April 12 is now selling tickets thru September 27.

Thriller Live, which pays tribute to the musical hits and career of Michael Jackson and the Jackson 5, has previously enjoyed three U.K. tours as well as engagements in Germany, Holland and Scandinavia. The shows performance schedule currently includes two Sunday showings every week at 3 and 7 PM, as well as Tuesday-Saturday evening performances at 8 PM and an additional Saturday matinee at 4 PM. From April 14 onwards, the evening performances will be at 7:30 PM on Tuesday-Friday. All other performance times stay the same.
