That's right theatre fans. This years Tony Awards have found their host and it's none other than Emmy Award winner and Tony nominee Sean Hayes. The actor who made his Broadway debut with the new revival of Promises, Promises should be a popular choice with theater insiders and his fans. Here is a statement from Sean regarding his new gig. "I am absolutely thrilled to be hosting the Tony Awards. As the new guy on Broadway, it's an honor to be included in the established alumni." As I mentioned in my earlier blog the Tony Awards are scheduled to air live on CBS on June 13 from 8pm-11pm ET.

Despite What The Critics Say Promises,Promises Is A Hit
Who says you have to have good reviews to be a hit on Broadway? Now years ago The New York Times had the power to make a break a show depending what the reviews were like. Well not anymore. The new revival of Promises,Promises headlined by Tony nominee Sean Hayes and Tony and Emmy Award winner Kristen Chenoweth received mixed reviews from the critics when it opened last month. Yet when you look at it's grosses since it opened it has constantly been in the top ten with figures hitting well over a million dollars every week. Take that critics.
Now don't forget another little show that got mixed reviews when it opened a few years ago that has managed to hang on quite well despite what the critics had to say. Maybe you've heard of it? Wicked. Not only has it been the top selling show on Broadway for the past six years but it still continues to sell out week in and week out. I guess the critics don't know everything. Look the truth is it is the theatre going public are the ones who make a show a success or failure. Not the critics. Sure that may of been true a decade or so ago but not anymore. That my friend's is a good thing. Not a bad thing. Until next time theatre fans.

Promises,Promises Begins Performances This Weekend
Out of all the revivals this season Promises,Promises is the one that I am looking forward to the most. Not only does it have a score by Burt Bacharach and Hal David but a book my one of Broadway's greatest comedy writers of all time Mr. Neil Simon. Then when you factor in Emmy winner Sean Hayes and Tony and Emmy winner Kristen Chenoweth as it's two leads then you have a show that can't be beat.
Promises,Promises is set to begin previews on March 28 at the Broadway Theatre with opening night set for April 26. The show which marks it's first time on Broadway since the original 1968 production is being directed and choreographed by Tony winner Rob Ashford. Now with only La Cage Aux Folles and A Little Night Music as the only two revivals still running expect Promises, Promises to be a big Tony contender this May.
Broadway could use a big fat hit and if reviews are good I expect Promises, Promises to be the one to beat at this years Tony Awards. By the way if you are looking for tickets to see the show then now is the best time. From now thru May 16 we can get you tickets to see this much loved musical comedy for prices that are....wait for it......below face value. Look a bargain is a bargain. Might as well take advantage of it when you can. Get you tickets to see Promises, Promises on Broadway. It is a must see.

Tickets Now On Sale To See Kristin Chenoweth and Sean Hayes In Promises, Promises
Being a huge Burt Bacharach fan I am really looking forward to seeing Promises, Promises on Broadway. Of course having the talented and adorable Tony and Emmy winner Ms. Kristen Chenoweth certainly helps too. This marks the first time the show is being revived on the Great White Way since the original 1968 Broadway production which ran for 1,281 performances. Besides Ms. Chenoweth the show stars fellow Emmy winner Sean Hayes(Will and Grace)who is making his Broadway debut.
Rounding out the cast are Tony nominee Brooks Ashmanskas(Present Laughter),Tony winner Katie Finneran(Noises Off),and Tony Goldwyn. For those of you unfamiliar with the show Promises, Promises is actually based on the 1960 Academy Award winning film The Apartment. Besides music by Burt Bacharach it has lyrics by his long time collaborator Hal David and a book by Neil Simon. Even if you are not familiar with the show I'm sure you have heard some of it's music.
Two of it's most well known songs are "I'll Never Fall In Love Again" and the title song "Promises, Promises" which became hit singles for singer Dionne Warwick. Previews are set to begin at the Broadway Theatre on March 27,2010 with opening night scheduled for April 25. With only two other revivals still running(A Little Night Music and La Cage Aux Folles)it stands a good chance at some Tony nominations this May. I for one hope it is a big fat hit. We shall see. Until next time theatre fans.
