Escape to Margaritaville Set to Close on Broadway

On July 1st, the Jimmy Buffet musical, Escape to Margaritaville, is set to close.

At its time of closing, the show will have played 29 previews and 124 regular performances.

Escape to Margaritaville tells the story of a laid-back islander named Tully, and the woman who comes to visit and changes his perspective on life.

Featuring a book by Greg Garcia, the musical uses the most popular Jimmy Buffet songs to tell the carefree story of island life and the people who either live there or are visitors.

Although the show is closing on Broadway, it's not your last chance to see the musical. On July 4th, Escape to Margaritaville is going on tour, and the first stop is Washington, D.C.

New Jimmy Buffet Musical Headed To Broadway

Calling all Parrot Head's. Now for those of you who don't get that reference, Parrot Head is the nickname commonly used for fans of the one and only Jimmy Buffet. Escape To Margaritaville, which features music from the "Cheeseburger In Paradise" singer, is making it's world premier at the La Jolla Playhouse in May 2017, followed by stops in New Orleans, Houston, and Chicago during it's pre-Broadway tour.

Here's hoping it's a hit. So what exactly is the show about? Well I'll tell you. Here's a brief synopsis about the show from a production source to give you a little more info. "Imagine a place where the sun is hot, the ocean's warm, and the drinks are as cold as they are plentiful.

Welcome to Margaritaville, the island paradise where city folk get away from it all and the locals get into the kind of trouble you can almost always sweet talk your way out of. This new musical is the story of a part-time bartender, part-time singer, and full-time charmer named Tully who thinks he's got life all figured out. Until a beautiful career-minded tourist steals his heart and makes him question everything."
