It was announced today that Academy Award nominated actor Haley Joel Osment(The Sixth Sense)will make his Broadway debut in the revival of David Mamet's American Buffalo. Osment joins previously announced stars John Leguizamo and Cedric the Entertainer. Directed by Robert Falls, the Chicago-set tale will begin previews Oct. 31 at the Belasco Theatre with an official opening Nov. 17.
American Buffalo, according to press notes, is described as such: "In one of Mamet's signature works the bungled heist of an old nickel by three lowlifes based in a Chicago pawnshop suggests how the language and practice of American business and power politics are insidious forces in our society."
This season is shaping up to be one of the most star studded in recent years with the likes of Daniel Radcliffe (Equus),Katie Holmes(All My Sons),and Kristin Scott Thomas(The Seagull) treading the boards. The question is will marquee names guarantee big numbers at the box office? We will soon find out.
