I'll admit that when they announced that Jesus Christ Superstar would be returning to Broadway in March I wasn't too excited. After all the 2000 revival left a bad taste in my mouth. To be perfectly honest it was one of the worst shows that I have seen in all the years that I have lived here. That includes Spider-Man:Turn Off The Dark. Having said that this new production to be directed by two-time winner Des McAnuff received rave reviews as well as the stamp of approval from Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber himself. Does that make me want to see the show now? Maybe. I do love the music and if anyone can pull it off it is Des McAnuff. Previews are set to begin at the Neil Simon Theatre on March 1, 2012 with opening night scheduled for March 22 which will also mark Andrew Lloyd Webber's 64th birthday. I'm guessing good reviews is on his wish list. Get your tickets to see Jesus Christ Superstar. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theater fans.JWB
