Beware Of Scalpers

What is a scalper? I know you all have heard the term many times. According to www.investopedia.com, " A scalper is a person who buys large quantities of in-demand items, such as new electronics or event tickets, at regular price, hoping that the items will sell out. The scalper will then resell the items at a higher price. Such transactions often occur on the black market. This type of scalping is illegal under certain conditions." Sounds right to me. Now while Applause may be a broker we are not nor have we ever been a scalper. Oh sure when people want to call and complain because they don't like the price or they think they were ripped off the first thing they say is that "You are a scalper." Trust me. I've been called worse.

Yes we buy and resell tickets. And yes we have a mark up. That's how we make our money after all. If we didn't charge some type of service fee we would be out of business. Now you don't want that do you? I didn't think so. The truth is there are hundreds of companies out there that sell tickets. We just happen to be one of them. My feeling is that no matter who you purchase from make sure you do your homework first. I always tell people that no matter who you use try and find a company that has not only a working phone number but are also licensed by the state. If they are not then I would advise you keep checking around. It's your money after all. Until next time theatre fans.
