Another movie turned musical on Broadway? Do we really need another one of those? O.K. I know that this is nothing new. After all we get about two or three of those every season. That will never change. Now while I have never seen the 1995 starring Clint Eastwood and Meryl Streep I know that it was very well received and did very well at the box office. Cut to nearly twenty years later and a musical version is set to debut on the Great White Way. The Bridges of Madison County, which is being written by Tony winner Jason Robert Brown (Parade, The Last Five Years) and Tony winner Marsha Norman ( The Color Purple, The Secret Garden) is set to begin previews at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre on January 13, 2014 with opening to be announced at a later date. Headlining this new musical are four-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara and Steven Pasquale who recently performed together Off-Broadway in Far From Heaven. Which by the way was another movie turned musical. Are we seeing a pattern here? I think so. Tickets for the show are scheduled to go on sale in the coming weeks so make sure to check back here when they do.
