New Play Outside Mullingar To Open On Broadway This January

A new play by John Patrick Shanley on Broadway? Count me in. Outside Mullingar which begins previews at the Samuel J. Friedman Theatre on January 3, 2014 will mark Mr. Shanley's tenth play at Manhattan Theatre Club. Opening night is scheduled for January 23 and the show will run thru March 16. The show which is being directed by Tony Award winner Doug Hughes stars Tony winner Brian O'Byrne (Doubt, Frozen) and Emmy winner Debra Messing. (Will and Grace, Smash) Here is a brief description about the play from the show's official website.

Tony winner BrĂan F. O’Byrne (FrozenDoubtMillion Dollar Baby) and Emmy winner Debra Messing (“Will & Grace,” "Smash," Collected Stories) play Anthony and Rosemary, two introverted misfits straddling 40. Anthony has spent his entire life on a cattle farm in rural Ireland, a state of affairs that—due to his painful shyness—suits him well. Rosemary lives right next door, determined to have him, watching the years slip away.

With Anthony’s father threatening to disinherit him and a land feud simmering between their families, Rosemary has every reason to fear romantic catastrophe. But then, in this very Irish story with a surprising depth of poetic passion, these yearning, eccentric souls fight their way towards solid ground and some kind of happiness. Their journey is heartbreaking, funny as hell, and ultimately deeply moving.

Sounds a wee bit interesting right? See what I did there? Pretty clever huh? By the way tickets for the show are now on sale and guess what? We sell them. In fact for most performances we can get you tickets at "Insider Prices". Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I do. Get your tickets to see Outside Mullingar at the Samuel J.
