That's right theatre fans. Disney's The Lion King is having a birthday. The show, which is based on the 1994 award winning film, will celebrate twenty years on Broadway tonight at the Minskoff Theatre. Now for those of you have read any of my previous blogs, know that I am not the biggest Disney fan in the world. But even I know the impact that they have had on the New York theatre scene. Since it's premier in November 1997, the show has become the top grossing show in Broadway history, surpassing The Phantom of the Opera in 2014. Not bad for a musical based on a cartoon. Sorry. Animated film.
