I can't tell you how excited I am to see this show. Children of a Lesser God, which first premiered on Broadway in March 1980, is making it's first return to the Great White Way since it's original production. Opening night is scheduled for April 11. Now I have never seen a live production of the show. So why am I so excited about it? Well, it's because I am a huge fan of the film, which starred Academy Award winner William Hurt, and Marlee Matlin in her Academy Award winning film debut. Yes I know seeing a story on the big screen is different from seeing it live on stage. However I think I will enjoy it just the same.
Leading the cast are television and film star Joshua Jackson (The Affair, Dawson's Creek), and Lauren Ridloff, who is making her Broadway debut. The show, which received rave reviews last Summer at the Berkshire Film Festival, is being directed by Tony Award winner Kenny Leon (A Raisin In The Sun).
