Now I know what you're thinking. Didn't he just post his weekly customer story already? Yes I did. However I have decided to change my weekly customer story to a daily one. At least for now anyway. I mean out of all the customers that I talk to on a semi-daily basis there has to be a least one interesting story right? So here we go.

I arrived this morning at my usual time of 9:00am ready to start my day. Like most days it is slow in the morning and then picks up around 11 or 12pm. I received a call from a customer who was looking to come into the city this weekend and wanted to take his wife to a Broadway show. His first and only choice was The Lion King. Now believe it or not while the show has been around for almost fifteen years the show still sells out. Especially on the weekends.

So I checked for him and they had seats in the Orchestra but they were on the side in the back. I told him that if he sat upstairs he not only would probably get better seats but have a better view as he would be looking straight down on top of the stage. Although he had never sat upstairs before he trusted that I knew what I was talking about and decided to order the tickets for him and his wife. I told him I wouldn't let him down and thanked him for his business. By the way I got him great seats on the center aisle. Another satisfied customer.Will you be next?

Jeresy Boys-My Favorite Show On Broadway

When Jersey Boys was first announced back in the Summer of 2005 I'll be the first to admit that I wasn't too excited. I mean the last thing we needed was another jukebox musical on Broadway right? Sure Mamma Mia is a hit but that is the exception. Since then over a half a dozen have come and gone so there was no guarantee that Jersey Boys would do any better. No matter how good the music was. Well the rest is history. Not only did the show exceed everyone's expectations but it won the Tony Award for Best Musical and continues to break box office records on Broadway, London, and every venue in between. Jersey Boys is a hit with no end in sight.

By the way. I loved the show. Not only was the music even better than I could have ever imagined but the story was fascinating and inspirational at the same time. Being a writer myself I often wonder how much longer am I going to have to struggle to achieve my dreams. Haven't I paid my dues already? Compared to the things that these four guys from New Jersey had to go thru to make it I haven't even scratched the surface. I guess I have a little more ways to go. Either way if I can achieve even half of their success I will consider myself lucky. Now enough about me. See the show. You will have the best time.I sure did. Until next time theatre fans.

Now Is The Best Time To Come To New York And See A Show

Looking for something to do during your visit to the Big Apple? Well of course you want to see a show right? How does a big Broadway musical sound to you? Or maybe you want tickets to see reigning Super Bowl champs the New York Giants or my favorite team the New York Knicks. Just because the title of my blog says "See A Show" doesn't mean you can't see anything else. We do offer other things besides theatre you know. Not only do we sell tickets to all events in the New York City area but we sell most of them for below face value. That means that you can get tickets for some of your favorites for less than ever before. Who doesn't love a bargain? I know I sure do. Oh sure you may not be able to see Wicked or The Book of Mormon for those kind of prices but there are other shows out there you know. Don't forget Off-Broadway. Believe it or not but Off-Broadway has been a major force on the New York theatre scene for fifty or more years. Where else could you see something as unique like Blue Man Group or Stomp but Off-Broadway. Yes I know both shows have been playing at theaters around the world for years but you know what I mean. Theatre In New York

Today as I was walking to work as I found myself taking my time as I made my way thru Times Square to my office on 43rd Street and 8th Avenue. My office like many ticket brokers is in the theater district. In fact I am only a steps away from some of Broadway's most oldest and well known theatres. As I made my way up Broadway I stopped at the Wintergarden Theatre (Mamma Mia) where I noticed a sign that was hanging from the marquee. It read, "The Best Time On Broadway". Now since I have never seen the show I really can't agree or disagree with that statement. Let's face it. A show doesn't run for over eleven plus years  if people aren't enjoying it. Having lived here for the better part of two decades I can pick ten to fifteen other shows that I would pick as the "The Best Time On Broadway". The thing is it doesn't really matter what I think. I usually see the shows for free. That's one of the perks of working in this business. What matter's is that we all continue to support the theatre. Now whether that's here in New York or at some small theatre in your hometown it doesn't really matter. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story

This week's customer comes from the great state of Maine. Woolwich to be exact. Don't feel bad. I haven't heard of it either. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who's client was planning a trip to New York for the Thanksgiving holiday and wanted to see a couple of shows. Care to guess which ones? Well since they were looking for a show the whole family could enjoy they of course picked The Book of Mormon. Wrong! We're talking about little kids here. Not that I'm sure they wouldn't think it's hysterical. It's just not the most appropriate show for the young fold. Anyway the shows they picked were the Radio City Christmas Spectacular and Wicked. Two excellent choices right? Now since they were coming during one of the busiest times they were aware that the tickets would be more than any other time. Luckily for them I was able to find them some good seats for both shows. Not only that but they were lower than they were seeing on other sites. Don't you just love it when that happens? I know I do. To Buy Or Not To Buy From A Ticket Broker

My name is J. and I am a ticket broker. Of course you already knew that didn't you? After all you are on our website because we sell tickets right? Of course you are. Yes I know that we are not the only game in town. We're not the even the only one on our block. The truth is there are hundreds of companies out there who sell tickets. We just happen to be one of many. The question you have to ask yourself is why use a ticket broker? I mean couldn't you just walk up to the theatre yourself? Yes you could. But what if you don't have that luxury? What if you live hundreds of miles away and can't purchase from the theatre. I guess you could always call them. No you can't. Do you know why? Customer Story

Two customer stories in three days? Have I really run out of things to blog about? Not quite. I just thought I would tell you about a young lady that I spoke to over the weekend. This past Saturday I received a call from a mother of two who was bringing her family to New York in November and wanted to see two shows while they were here. I asked her what they wanted to see and her top choices were Wicked and The Radio City Christmas Spectacular. Both great choices as far as I'm concerned. After finding out when they would be here I began my search for their tickets. Since they were coming before the Thanksgiving holiday I knew I would be able to get them an excellent rate for the Christmas show. Sure enough I got them seats in the Center Orchestra for a rate that was much lower than even I was expecting. Who knew? One show down. One to go. Next up? Wicked. Luckily for her we had some seats in our inventory which means not only would they be good seats but at the lowest price. Well she loved that. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Georgia. Augusta to be exact. Last week I received a call from a travel agent who had a client that was coming to New York in November and wanted to see what shows might be available while they were here. Oh I don't know? Only about thirty or forty right? Luckily for me the client had some ideas of her own. She just wondered if I had any suggestions. That's why we are here after all. I asked her what she wanted to see and she said her client defiantly wanted to see the Radio City Christmas Spectacular but was torn between Jersey Boys and The Lion King. Well having seen Jersey Boys myself I knew which one I was going to choose. Now while I may not be the biggest Disney fan in the world I am aware if it's popularity and appeal. A show like that doesn't run all those years for nothing. After a little debate she decided upon Jersey Boys since she was already getting her family friendly fix with the Christmas show. Problem solved. When all was said and done I was able to get her excellent seats in the Front Mezzanine for Jersey Boys and Center Orchestra seats for the Radio City Christmas Spectacular at a reduced rate. A Day In The Life Of A Ticket Broker

"The more things change the more they stay the same". That is not me of course.That is a quote from the late French journalist and novelist Jean-Baptiste Alphone Karr. That quote has been on my mind a lot these past few days. Now we all know that change is not only inevitable but necessary in life. Without it we would remain in the same place day after day with no end in sight. That my friends is no way to live. Over the years the theatre has seen many ups and downs. That is true of any business. There will always be people who support it just like there will always be people who will condemn it and mock it for what it is. ENTERTAINMENT. Like how I wrote that with all capitol letters? I thought you might. Yes I know theatre is not for every one. Although I will say most of  my closest friends love the theatre. I guess that's why we are friends. Well that and they are decent and honest people. Not too many of those out there I can tell you that. It seems like everybody these days are out for themselves. Everybody wants to make a buck. I mean that's why people get into show business right? Fame and fortune. Yes that may be true but there are people out there that would do it for free if they could. I know I would. Of course we all need to eat. I guess that's where the term "Starving Artist" comes from doesn't it? Oh well. We can't all be rich. However we can all be happy if we want too. You just have to know where to find it.

This weeks customer story comes all the way from my home state of Illinois. Glencoe to be exact. Now while I haven't lived in Illinois for over twenty years it's always nice to hear a friendly voice from the Prairie state. This past Wednesday I received a call from a travel agent who had a client who was coming to New York in early September and wanted to see a couple of shows while they were here. I asked her what she wanted to see and wouldn't you know it but she picked two of Broadway's hottest shows. Give up? Why The Book of Mormon and Once of course. Two great picks in my opinion. Although I was a little worried that there might be limited availability so close to the date. Once again I worried for nothing. When all was said and done I was able to get them very good seats in the Center Mezzanine for both shows and at a price that was lower than they were expecting. Another satisfied customer. Customer Story

This week's customer story comes all the way from the great state of Montana. To be honest I don't think I've ever sold tickets to anyone from there before but I guess there is a first time for everything. Anyway this past Thursday I received a call from a travel agent who had a client that was planning a trip to New York in December and wanted to see a couple of  shows while they were here. I take that back. They wanted to see four shows. I can barely handle one show a month so I can't even imagine seeing four within a matter of days. To each his own I guess. So after finding out when they would be here I asked her what they wanted to see. Her choices were Wicked,Mary Poppins, Nice Work If You Can Get It and the Radio City Christmas Spectacular. All good choices and great for the whole family. After a little research I was able get excellent seats for all four shows and at prices that were lower than they expected. Plus I was able to find four excellent but reasonable restaurants for them to check out during their stay. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

Disney's The Lion King Makes History

Can you believe it's been almost 15 years since The Lion King first opened on the Great White Way? I sure can't. Matter a fact just this week the show became the 5th longest running show on Broadway surpassing A Chorus Line.The show which opened to rave reviews in December of 1997 is Disney's most successful show since they first started producing musicals on Broadway in 1994.  Their first show was Beauty and the Beast and since that time six other shows have since opened. Some successful like Aida and Mary Poppins and most recently Newsies which won three Tony Awards. Some not so successful like Tarzan and The Little Mermaid. Their shows while good for families don't have the wide appeal that other shows seem to have like Wicked or The Phantom of the Opera. That is probably why their last few shows have failed to run as long as The Lion King has. It seems to me like they are running out of ideas. I dare say it's time for them to produce something original. Just because it was a hit movie doesn't mean it's going to work on stage. When you compare a $12 movie ticket to a $137 or more for a  Broadway ticket you better make sure it's worth it. Disney has made some great movies over the years that are not animated musicals. Maybe it's time to try something new. The Lion King won't last forever you know.

Buying From A Ticket Broker

Let's say that you are planning a trip to New York City and while you are here you decide to take in a show or two. Makes sense to me. I mean it's not like there is anything else to do right? Oh sure I guess you could go see the Statue Of Liberty or take one of those three hour cruises around the island. Now don't get me wrong. Those things are fun too. It's just that in my opinion nothing beats the excitement of sitting in a theatre and seeing a Broadway show. There is nothing like it. So now that you have decided what you want to see how do you get the tickets? Well I guess you could wait and go to the theatre when you get here. That is certainly an option. But what happens if you get there and the show you want to see is sold out? Well I guess you could go with your second choice. Or you could have saved lots of time and heartache and purchased your tickets before you get here. That's what I would do. The only problem with that is who do you call. The truth is there are hundreds of companies out there that sell tickets. Applause just happens to be one of them. When people call us I always try to make a point to tell them that whether they buy from us or someone else to always find a company that has a phone number. That way you can speak to a live person. I can't tell you how important that is in our business. Well that and finding a company that you can trust. It's not as easy as you might think. Regardless of who you decide to use it is important to do your homework and find the company that works for you. It's your money after all.

Now Is The Best Time To Come To New York And See A Show

Planning a trip to the Big Apple in the near future? Well have I have got news for you. Now is the best time to come to New York and see a show. Did you know that there are currently twenty-two shows running on Broadway as we speak with thirteen more set to open betwen now and the end of the year. Oh and don't forget Off-Broadway home to over twenty shows as well. That's what makes theatre in New York so exciting. So much variety. In the twenty plus years that I have lived in New York I have probably seen over one hundred and fifty shows. Now in all of them I usually found something I liked. Although I'm also the type of person who loves bad theatre. There's nothing like a great train wreck. I know. I'm weird. Regardless of the show there is nothing in the world like live theatre. This week's customer story comes all the way from the Pacific Northwest. No it's not Idaho. Give up? Why it's the great state of Oregon. Springfield to be exact. This past week I received a call from a very nice lady who was planning a trip to New York in a couple of weeks and wanted to take her two young kids to a show. At that point I knew that her choices would be limited as there are only a handful of shows that the whole family can enjoy. Right off the bat she told me that they had already seen The Lion King and Mary Poppins. Therefore I suggested Newsies. Makes sense right? As it turns out that was the one that they all wanted to see. Well that made my job a whole lot easier. After finding out when she wanted to go I told her what prices were available. She also mentioned that she has the NY Pass which meant she would also save 10% off her purchase. After a little research I was able to find her three seats in the Center Rear Mezzanine. I know what you are thinking. "The Rear Mezzanine? That's too far away." You would think but you'd be wrong. Having been in this theatre many times over the years I can tell you that not only is it not very big but it is one of the best raked Mezzanine's on Broadway. That means all the seats are good. Well she loved that. Plus I was able to recommend a great but inexpensive restaurant for them to check out while they were here. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?
