Boeing-Boeing will Close on Broadway Jan 4, 2009

Applause Theatre Service has learned that one of the funniest shows currently on Broadway, "Boeing-Boeing" will have it's last curtain call come January 4th, 2009. Run to see this show before it closes. I went into an invited preview performance of this show ready to leave at intermission. Instead I found myself laughing uncontrollably! What a laugh riot with a cast that works their butts off! This Tony award winning comedy deserves to run a lot longer, but instead is handed this bitter fate due to the current economy I suppose.
The staging at the Longacre Theatre stars Mark Rylance, a holdover from London, who won the Tony as Best Actor in a Play for his daffy turn as a Wisconsinite caught in the middle of his pal's three way infidelity.
Boeing-Boeing recouped its initial $2.65 million investment. A 45-week North American tour of the comedy is currently being packaged to kick off in fall 2009. No casting has been announced for the tour. The current cast includes Paige Davis, Rebecca Gayheart, Christine Baranski, Mark Rylance, Greg Germann and Missi Pyle.
Boeing-Boeing is performed on the following schedule: Tuesday at 7 PM, Wednesday-Saturday at 8 PM, Wednesday and Saturday at 2 PM and Sunday at 3 PM.
For the week of Dec. 22 the performance schedule is: Monday at 8 PM, Tuesday at 7 PM, Friday and Saturday at 2 PM and 8 PM, and Sunday at 3 PM.
