Wow! She's still got it! I was fortunate enough to catch an invited dress rehearsal of Liza Minelli's new show, "Liza's at the Palace" . I attended last nights Actor's Fund Performance and it was an absolute triumph!
Ron Lewis, the director and choreographer, spoke at the beginning of the performance, explaining that it was the company's one & only full dress rehearsal before the critics at tonight's opening.
The audience was extremely enthusiastic and gave Liza more than a half dozen standing ovations.
The great news is that Liza was simply sensational. She looked amazing and sounded better than I've heard her in a long time.
There was many, many wonderful moments that I can only describe as vintage Liza.
I won't give away the songs but was happy that there were several surprises, along with the standards one would expect.
The Kay Thompson medley was terrific; indeed, it was very well paced and much more polished than what I heard about.
It was also fascinating to see Ron Lewis step onto the stage a few times during the second act and give technical directions to Liza and the guys and the stage crew.
I adore Liza and was thrilled to see her once again in top form. She lit up the Palace stage last night with more energy than all the Rockettes.
So don't miss out on seeing what may be some of her last great concerts. Call an Applause Sales Expert now at 800-451-9930 and reserve your seats at a great price!
