The Economy's Effect On Broadway

Now unless you've been living under a rock for the past ten or twelve months you've probably heard that that we are in the middle of an economic crisis. Every day people are losing their jobs and companies both big and small are going bankrupt. Now in these trying times you would think that the last thing people would want to do is come to New York and see a show right? Well to be honest that's what I though too. The truth is are phones are still ringing and people are still buying tickets. Oh sure it's not like it was last year. It's not even like it was five or six months ago. The truth is Broadway isn't going anywhere and never will. Thank goodness for that. Without it I and many thousands of other people would be out of a job. Now you don't want that do you? I didn't think so. The truth is Broadway and theatre in general serve a purpose. To make us laugh. To make us cry and to make us think. Theatre is what makes the world a better place. Even if only for a little while. After all isn't that what we need now? I know we do.
