I can't tell you how excited I am to see this show. Not only is School of Rock one of my favorite movies, but Andrew Lloyd Webber is one of my favorite composers. I know. I know. He hasn't had a hit in over two decades. So sue me. I happen to think his music is pretty catchy. Besides isn't that what music is supposed to be? I think so. Previews for the show are set to begin at the Winter Garden Theatre on November 9, with opening night scheduled for December 6.
Now you might recall that theatre had a little show that opened in the 80's and ran for over seventeen years. Ring any bells? Ding. Ding. It was Cat's, which was also written by the one and only Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber. Let's hope this new production is just as successful. Fingers crossed. So anyway, back to the reason for today's blog. Who's starring in it? Well for starter's the show is being headlined by Alex Brightman in the lead role of Dewey Finn.
Oh and just in case you are wondering, he is not I repeat not related to Mr. Webber's ex-wife Sarah Brightman. He made that perfectly clear at the show's workshop this past Summer when he stated that "It is wonderful to be able to confirm that not only is Alex Brightman going to be playing on Broadway, that I have absolutely no intention of marrying him. But I can't speak for him of course." Isn't he a hoot? Rounding out the cast are Sierra Boggess as school principal Rosalie Mullins will be Spencer Moses as Ned, Mamie Parris as Patty, Evie Dolan as Katie, Carly Gendell as Marcy, Ethan Khusidman as Mason, Bobbi MacKenzie as Tomika, Dante Melucci as Freddy, Brandon Niederauer as Zack, Luca Padovan as Billy, Jared Parker as Lawrence, and Isabella Russo as Summer.
Sounds like a great cast don't you think? So now that you know who's in it, I'm guessing you want to know how to get tickets right? Well thankfully we sell them. Not only that but if you call right now you can get tickets to see the show at some incredible prices. Be advised that while this "Insider Price" is good thru January 17 it is not valid from November 26 thru November 30, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see School of Rock on Broadway at the Winter Garden Theatre. Who knows? Maybe I'll see you there. Until next time theatre fans.
