What To See In 2018 Part 2

CarouselThree Tall Women
John Golden Theatre
1st Preview: February 27, 2018
Opens: March 29. 2018

Broadway debut of a Pulitzer Prize winning play starring three award wining actresses? Check. And direction by a two-time Tony Award winning director? Check. Well that's all I need.Three Tall Women, by Tony Award winner Edward Albee, will make it's Broadway debut at the John Golden Theatre. The show, which premiered in Australia in 1992, prior to it's Off-Broadway debut in 1994, will open at the John Golden Theatre this Spring.

The show which won the 1994 Pulitzer Prize for Drama, stars Tony and Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf, Tony Award nominee Allison Pill, and two-time Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson, who is making her return to the stage in thirty-years.And oh yeah I almost forgot, directing the show is two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello (Wicked, Take Me Out). Trust me theatre fans. This is a must see.

Carousel
Imperial Theatre
1st Preview: February 28, 2018
Opens: April 12, 2018

Mean GirlsI can't begin to tell you how I excited I am to see this show. Not only is Carousel one of my favorite show's of all time, but it is starring one of my favorite actresses of the past few years. That's right. I am talking about Tony Award winner Jesse Mueller (Beautiful, Waitress).

Oh but wait. It get's better. Joining her in this beloved musical are Tony nominee Joshua Henry (Shuffle Along, Hamilton), and opera diva Renee Fleming, who is making her Broadway debut. That alone is worth the price of admission don't you think?

Lobby Hero
Helen Hayes Theatre
1st Preview: March 1, 2018
Opens: March 26, 2018

What a way to launch the reopening of one of Broadway's most historic theatre's. Lobby Hero, which will open at the newly renovated Helen Hayes Theatre, will mark the Broadway debut of the Kenneth Lonergan comedy. Starring Chris Evans (Captain America), and Michael Cera (Arrested Development, The Lego Batman Movie). Well I'm sold.

Mean Girls
August Wilson Theatre
1st Preview: March 12, 2018
Opens: April 9, 2018

You've seen the movie. Now see the show live on stage. Only this time, it's a big splashy Broadway musical. Writing the book for the new musical, is the film's original screenwriter Emmy winner Tina Fey, with music by fellow Emmy winner Jeff Richmond (30 Rock), and lyrics by Tony nominee Nell Benjamin (Legally Blond). Direction and choreography is by Tony winner Casey Nicholaw. If there was ever a sure hit it's this one.

Well that concludes Part 2 at my look at the 2017-2018 Broadway season. Check out Part 3 next week. Until next time theatre fans.
