What To See In 2018 Part 3

CatsMy Fair Lady

Yesterday I wrote a blog about this show. Look let's face it. My Fair Lady is a classic, and quite frankly it's been way too long since this beloved musical as seen the bright lights of Broadway. Therefore I for one am looking forward to seeing this beloved musical back on Broadway for the first time in almost twenty-five years.

Now believe it or not but I have never seen the show before. Oh sure I've seen the Academy Award winning film, as well as read the show's Tony Award winning libretto. But I have never seen the show live on stage. Finally here's my chance.

Now I'll be honest. I have never read any of the harry Potter books, nor have I seen any of the award winning films. But even I know this is going to be the event of the system. Tickets for the two- part show has been selling like crazy ever since it went on sale in early October. Now that doesn't mean you can't get tickets. It just means they may be a little more expensive than other shows.

The Iceman ComethNow I know nothing about this show except for what I read online. From what I can gather, Rocktopia is a nutshell "Broadway meets Rock and Roll". Featuring a slew of Broadway and recording artists, a five piece rock band, a twenty piece orchestra, and a choir of forty, Rocktopia poses the idea that if Mozart and Beethoven were alive today, they would be rock stars. Sounds logical to me.

Now I have been going to Broadway shows for the better part of two decades. Thankfully because of the industry I work in, I have been lucky to see a lot of shows for free, or at a substantial discount. However I know for a fact that this show will not be offering any kind of discount.

Why? Well it may have something do with the fact that the show is starring Tony and Academy Award winner Denzel Washington. Which means it's time to break open that old piggy bank of mine. Trust me. It will be worth it.

Well that includes Part 3 in my ongoing series on the 2017-2018 Broadway season. Stay tuned for Part 4 next week. Until next time theatre fans.
