One of my favorite theatrical experiences of the past twenty years, was the 2002 revival of Terrence McNally's revival of Frankie and Johnny in the Clair de Lune, starring Emmy Award winner Edie Falco and Emmy Award winner and Academy Award nominee Stanley Tucci. Quite the pair don't you think?
This new production, which stars six-time Tony Award winner Audra McDonald and Academy Award and Tony Award nominee Michael Shannon, is set to begin previews at the Broadhurst Theatre on May 4, with opening night scheduled for May 30. The play, which is directed by Obie Award winner Arin Arbus, will play thru August 25.
Now for those of you who want tickets to see the show, you are in luck, we sell it. Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru August 25, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability, Get your tickets to see Frankie and Johnny in the Claire de Lune at the Broadhurst Theatre on Broadway. The Rising Cost Of Theatre Tickets
Let's face it. Broadway tickets are expensive. It's been that way for the better part of twenty years, with no end in sight I'm afraid. For almost four years now, Hamilton has been the top selling show on Broadway, where it continues to gross close to three million dollars a week at the box office. Now I saw the show. Of course I only paid forty dollars to stand at the back of the theatre.
What can I say? I got lucky. Now while tickets for Hamilton may hurt your wallet, there are other shows that are just as good, that won't break the bank. As we speak, there are over thirty shows that you can see both On and Off-Broadway with rates that can't be beat, including several of this season's biggest hit's like To Kill A Mockingbird, Ain't Too Proud, Be More Chill, and The Cher Show.
Quiet the lineup of shows don't you think? After all, who doesn't love a bargain? I know I sure do. Now just in case you're wondering, we sell all of those shows. In fact, we sell every show both On and Off-Broadway. London too. Also don't forget that Applause is open seven days a week, three hundred and sixty-five days a year. That means we are always here for all of your ticket needs. Until next time theatre fans.

Tootsie Now In Previews
I can not wait until April 8. Why you ask? Because that my friends, is the day that I am going to see Tootsie on Broadway. Now do you see why I'm so excited? First of all, the movie is a personal favorite of mine. In fact, I think it's probably the greatest movie comedy of all time. But that's just my opinion of course.
And second of all, it has a score by Tony Award winning composer David Yazbeck, who won last year for The Band's Visit. The show, which premiered in September 2018 at the Cadillac Theatre in Chicago, is scheduled to open at the Marquis Theatre on April 23.
Directed by eight-time Tony Award nominee Scott Ellis (She Loves Me, 1776, You Can't Take It With You), and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Denis Jones (Holiday Inn, Honeymoon In Vegas), Tootsie stars Tony Award nominee Santino Fontana as Michael Dorsey/Dorothy Michaels).
Starring along side him are Lily Cooper as Julia Nichols (SpongeBob SquarePants), Sarah Stiles as Sandy Lester, John Behlmann as Max Van Horn, Andy Grotelueschen as Jeff Slater, Julie Halston as Rita Marshall, Tony Award winner Michael McGrath as Stan Fields, and Reg Rogers as Ron Carlisle.
By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see Tootsie, you are in luck. We sell it. In fact, we are selling tickets for every new play and musical this season. Bettlejuice To Begin Previews Tonight On Broadway
Let me just start off by saying, that I have never seen Beetlejuice. I know. I know. What is wrong with me? After all, Michael Keaton is one of my favorite actor's. It even starred another favorite of mine, Genna Davis. And yet, in the thirty-one years since it has been released, I have still never seen it. Not even a clip.
The good news is, is that I have tickets to see the Broadway musical in less than a week. Who knows? It might just give me the push I need to finally see the film. Or it could have the reserve effect, and cause me to go another thirty-one years without seeing it. Unfortunately, that sometimes happens with movie to musical transfers.
For every Hairspray or Aladdin, there is a Shrek or The Wedding Singer. Yes I know there are more examples. I just tried to use ones that have opened in the last ten to fifteen years. Now I'm not saying that Beetlejuice will fall in the latter category. I'm hoping it's a big fat hit, as we could use a few of those this season. Time will tell.
By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see Beetlejuice, you are in luck. We sell it. Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Final Weeks For Off-Broadway's Avenue Q
O.K. I'll admit it. I'm in denial. I still cannot believe that one of my favorite show's is set to say goodbye in just a few weeks. Since it opened on Broadway in August 2003, I have seen Avenue Q a total of six times. Now while I loved it more each and every time I saw it, I have to say my favorite time was Thanksgiving week 2003.
My parent's were here for the holiday's, and I got all three of us tickets to see the show. In fact, it was the first Broadway show they had ever seen. Over the years, I have gotten many an eye roll from my friend's and coworkers, who kept wondering why I didn't take them to a more traditional show like The Phantom of the Opera, or The Producers.
And of course don't forget Wicked, which had just opened a few weeks before.Surely, one of those would be more appropriate for a couple in their early fifties. What can I say, I know what my parent's would like, and as it turns out I was right. Oh and just in case you forgot, Avenue Q beat Wicked to win the Tony Award for Best Musical of the Year. So there.
But enough about me. Now for those of you who still haven't seen Avenue Q yet, there is still time. Thirty-nine more times to be exact. Plus if you call right now, you can get tickets to see this award winning show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru April 28 (Final Performance), it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Avenue Q Off-Broadway, at New World Stages. Time is running out. Until next time theatre fans.

Tony Award Winner Sutton Foster To Join Hugh Jackman In Music Man Revival
What a way to start the day theatre fans. It was just announced, that two-time Tony Award winner Sutton Foster (Anything Goes, Thoroughly Modern Millie), will star as Marion Paroo opposite fellow Tony Award winner Hugh Jackman (The Boy From Oz, The Greatest Showman) in the Music Man.
It will mark her first performance on Broadway since her Tony nominated performance in Violet in 2014. Previews for the production are scheduled to begin on September 9, 2020, with opening night scheduled for October 22, 2020.
As of now no theatre has been announced except that it will be a Shubert Theatre. Now if I would have to guess, my money is on it's flagship theatre the Sam S. Shubert Theatre, home to this season's biggest hit, To Kill A Mockingbird.
Directed by four-time Tony Award winner Jerry Zaks (Hello Dolly, Guys and Dolls), and choreographed by Tony Award winner Warren Carlyle (Hello Dolly, After Midnight), Music Man is sure to be one of the biggest hit's of the 2020-2021 Broadway season,. Be sure to check this site for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.

Customer Story
Today's customer story comes all they way from the great state of Tennessee. Manchester to be exact. It was a pretty slow Saturday morning at Applause, when my phone rang. I recognized the name and number right away as a regular customer of ours. Thank goodness for Caller I.D. right? Anyway after greeting her, and asking her how she was, I asked her what show her group wanted to see.
Now how did I know she was calling for group tickets? Well it's because two or three times a year she brings a group of her students to see a Broadway show. Now that's what I call an awesome teacher. So anyway, after finding out when they would be here, and finding out how many tickets she needed, I asked her what her and her students would like to see.
Well, as it turns out, their first and only choice was one of Broadway's hottest shows. That's right. I am taking about none other than To Kill A Mockingbird. Good choice don't you think? Now she knew going in that it was a hot ticket. After all, it is the highest grossing show in Broadway history. Luckily I was able to find her some nice seats in the Balcony. Now I know what you're thinking. The balcony?
How in the world are they going to see anything from up there? I hope they remember to bring their binoculars. O.K. so now that I got the jokes out of the way. Trust me when I say that even though the Balcony is the third level in the Shubert Theatre, you can still see everything without the use of a fancy optical instrument. In the end, I got them great seats in the Balcony, and at a price that was lower than they had seen on other sites. Another satisfied customer. Will you be next?

New Musical Hadestown Now In Previews
Besides working for Applause the last fifteen years, I am also a writer and composer. In fact, my original musical "Cheeseburger Deluxe" had it's world premier at the 4th Street Theatre in August 2016. Now while I have since changed the name of my show to "between hope and riverside", it still boggles my mind that my show played in the same building where my favorite musical of all time opened in 1996.
The theatre was the New York Theatre Workshop, and the show was the Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning musical Rent. So why is this relevant you ask? Well as it turns out, while I was preparing to open my show, Broadway's newest musical Hadestown, was just wrapping up it's very first production just a few hundred feet from me. How exciting is that? Now here we are a little over two and a half years, and Hadestown is set to make it's Broadway debut.
The show, which just completed an acclaimed two month production at the National Theatre in London, is scheduled to open at the Walter Kerr Theatre on April 17. So what exactly is the show all about? Well according to the shows website,"Hadestown, set in a Great Depression inspired apocalyptic setting, is a new musical about the fateful love story of Orpheus and Eurydice, as well as the tumultuous relationship of King Hades and his wife Persephone." Sounds quite fascinating don't you think? By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see the show, you are in luck. We sell it. Well that and every new show this season on Broadway. Get your tickets to see Hadestown on Broadway at the Walter Kerr Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Ain't Too Proud Reviews
Let me just start off by saying how much I loved Aint Too Proud. Going in, I knew I would love the music as The Temptations are my favorite group of all time. Plus, it was being directed by Tony Award winner Des McAnuff and choreographed by Tony Award nominee Sergio Trujillo.
You might have heard of a little show they did called Jersey Boys. You know the Tony Award winning musical that ran for eleven years on Broadway, and continues to play to packed houses eight times as week Off-Broadway. Here's hoping that Ain't Too Proud is just as successful. Now on to the reviews.

Kiss Me Kate Reviews
That's right theatre fans. It's that time again. Now believe it or not, but Kiss Me Kate is the first musical revival to open this season. In fact, except for the upcoming production of Oklahoma, they are they only two musical revival's scheduled to open this season. So why am I so surprised?
Probably because in the last twenty-five years, there is usually anywhere between three and four musicals to open on Broadway every year. Oh well. Better to have two strong revivals, than too many. So what did the critic's have to say? Let's find out.

New Play Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus To Begin Previews Tonight
Last week, I posted a blog about the new Broadway production of King Lear starring Tony and Academy Award winner Glenda Jackson. Now I know what you're thinking. Two plays by William Shakespeare in the same season? Well sort of. Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus, by Taylor Mac, is set to begin previews in just a few hours at the Booth Theatre on Broadway.
The show, which stars two-time Tony Award winners Nathan Lane and Andrea Martin, is scheduled to open on April 11. So what is the show all about? Well as you can guess by the title, this new play takes place immediately following the tragic events in Titus Andronicus. Although considering the shows two stars, I have a feeling that this production will be less tragic, and more laugh out loud. We shall see.
Now for those of you who want tickets to see the show, you have come to the right place. We sell it. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru August 4, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Gary: A Sequel To Titus Andronicus on Broadway at the Booth Theatre. Until next time theatre fans.

Temptations Musical Ain't Too Proud Now In Previews
I can't tell you how excited I am to see this show. In fact, I am actually seeing it next week on my Birthday. Happy Birthday to me! Anyway, for those of you who have never heard of The Temptations before, and by this point I would think that everyone on the planet has heard of them by now, they are one of the greatest groups in the history of music.
What can I say? I'm a fan. Ain't Too Proud, which is of course named after one of their biggest hit's Ain't Too Proud To Beg, began performances on February 28. Opening night is scheduled for March 21. Featuring over twenty of The Temptations biggest hit's including " My Girl,” “Just My Imagination,” “Papa Was a Rolling Stone, Ain't Too Proud is one show you do not want to miss.
By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see the show, you are in luck. We sell it. In fact, if you call right now, you can get tickets to see Ain't Too Proud at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru May 24, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Ain't Too Proud on Broadway at the Imperial Theatre. Who knows? You just might see me there. Until next time theatre fans.
