"Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plain, and the wavin' wheat can sure smell sweet, when the wind comes right behind the rain". They sure don't write lyrics like that anymore. Oklahoma, which believe it or not, first premiered in 1943, is making it's triumphant return tonight at the Circle in in the Square Theatre. It comes to Broadway via it's sold out, critically acclaimed run at St. Ann's Warehouse in Brooklyn.
Now I'll be honest, this is not your Grandmother's Oklahoma. Oh no. In this radical new version of this beloved classic, Laurey is African-American, Ado-Annie is in a wheelchair, and Curly strums a guitar along side the show's seven piece band. Now that sounds like my kind of Oklahoma. By the way, for those of you who want tickets to see Oklahoma, you are in luck. We sell it.
In fact if you call right now, you can get tickets to see the show at prices that can't be beat. Be advised that while this "Special Offer" is good thru September 1, it is for select seats only, and as always subject to availability. Get your tickets to see Oklahoma on Broadway at the Circle in the Square Theatre. Expect the show to be a big contender at this year's Tony Awards. Until next time theatre fans.
