Edward Albee's Who's Afraid Of Virgina Woolf Starring Laurie Metcalf And Eddie Izzard To Return To Broadway In Spring 2020

What a great way to start my Saturday theatre fans. It was just announced, that Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf, would be returning to the New York stage in April 2020. The show, which last played on Broadway in 2012, is scheduled to open on March 2, 2020, with opening night set for April 9. As of now, no theatre has been announced, but if I had to take a guess, my bet would be on the John Golden Theatre. Why you ask? Well two reasons. First of all, the show is being produced by EGOT winner Scott Rudin, who's last three shows, including current tenant Hillary and Clinton have played there.

And second, all three of those shows have starred Tony and Emmy Award winner Laurie Metcalf, who is starring in today's blog subject. Now do you see why I am a betting man?
Starring along side the award winning actress is Tony Award nominee Eddie Izzard, Russell Tovey and Olivier Award winner Patsy Ferran. Directed by two-time Tony Award winner Joe Mantello, Edward Albee's Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf first premiered on Broadway in 1962, where it won the 1963 Tony Award for Best Play of the Year. As of now no on sale has been announced. Be sure to check this website for further updates. Until next time theatre fans.
